Such a happy, feel-good book I want to go to Santorini now!!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Utterly enchanting! Such a sweet and hopeful book. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be recommending this one to anyone on the hunt for the perfect romantic beach read! 4 stars!
I was lucky enough to go to Santorini 2years ago and this book brought back so many wonderful memories. When reading this incredible book it will take everything for you not to book a vacation to this beautiful island. You will love every page of this light romantic read.
I loved this book so much I wanted to book a trip to Santorini immediately. I wanted to be friends with Anna, Elena and Nicos and I couldn’t wait to see if Anna would stay or return home.
The Summer House in Santorini started as a fun "beach read", but unfortunately didn't develop into more for me. I found the characters and situations a bit unrealistic and the story cliche. I do think this a great choice for someone who just wants something on the lighter side, it just wasn't a big win for me personally.
This was my first book by this author, It was pretty enjoyable. I would give this book a 3.5 star rating! It was a pretty Quick and easy read!
Yes, light and a bit 'fluffy' but written with a certain style and very descriptive.
.Anna finds herself desperate to get away from men and a rubbish job. Wow! she then finds out she has inherited a house in Santorini, and off she goes, mainly to fix up the summerhouse there.
Having just returned from a few weeks holiday in Greece, the whole book was perfect for me and hopefully, Ms Parks can replicate another tale in, say, Corfu?
Very enjoyable, but not quite 5 stars.
Thanks to Harper Collins and Net galley for the chance to read and review.
What a cute, light read! Samantha Parks's debut novel was refreshing and fun. Anna gets the opportunity of a life time, and, while far fetched, made for a fun story line. There were multiple story lines to follow and each was intriguing. The most complex relationship was Anna's with herself as she navigates a new part of the world and forms new relationships when her world back home has been turned upside down. Add in her relationship with her mother, sister, grandparents, former boss and new friends in Greece, on top of her learning about her dead father, and poor Anna's head is spinning. The book flew by and I finished quickly, both because the writing style is fun and I wanted to see the relationships develop and the stories unfold.
This was the perfect summer beach read. The detail of every day life in Santorini came complete with a house make over and local festivals. It was awash with characters colorful and smart. I liked that the author did not spend an inordinate amount of time wasting on the usual travelogue. Anna was a character proven to work in beach read romances. Realizing her life had hit an impass opportunity rears it’s head in the form of real estate in a different continent and an opportunity to live and grow as a new version of herself.
In “The Summer House in Santorini”, Anna travels to Greece after inheriting a house from her estranged father, whom had recently passed away. With a life back home in New York that was falling apart, Anna is able to begin to build a life in Greece. With new friends, family, and opportunities on this beautiful island, she questions if she could take a leap and drop everything to start over halfway across the world.
The novel is idyllically unrealistic, in a Hallmark-esque fashion, thus making it enjoyable and lighthearted. Although I am reading it a bit late, this would have been a perfect feel-good, summer read. “The Summer House in Santorini” is a short and sweet, fast read I would recommend as something light and fun.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for an advance copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I read this book whilst on holiday in France and the weather wasn't good, I wish I had been in Santorini, it sounded so much nicer! A really enjoyable read that kept me happy and I forgot the rain outside.
On the island of Santorini, with its picturesque villas, blue-tiled roofs, and the turquoise waters of the Aegean lapping at the white sand beaches, Anna inherits a less-than-picturesque summer house from her estranged father. As she rebuilds the house, she rebuilds her life, uncovering family secrets along the way that change everything. She starts to fall for her little slice of paradise, as well as for gorgeous, charming Nikos.
I really want to see the house now and meet the characters as I felt they came to life for me when I read on and on. I really want to know what happens next now though !!
The Summer House in Santorini is a cute romance novel you'll undoubtedly breeze through. The main character is Anna, an American woman who heads to Santorini to sell the house she inherited when her father passed away. Her father was Greek, but she hadn't seen him for 20 years. She struggles with deciding whether to sell the house or stay on Santorini, where there's a cute boy, family and a chance for her to be the photographer she always wanted to be. The storyline was quite predictable and I didn't love the writing style - it was a little bit too cliche for me. But if you just want a quick summer read to escape into, The Summer House in Santorini.is for you.
I loved this book! The setting was beautiful and so were the characters. Santorini sounds like such a great place that also has great food too! I loved Anna's story so much. I am glad she fixed her Dad's house up and read all the letters he had written to them. It was sad that her Mom lied to them for so long about what really happened with her and Anna's Dad. It was even sadder that Anna never knew her Dad. But through fixing his house up,reading the letters he wrote them and being surrounded by family in Santorini she feels like she knows him now. That really tied the book together I think! I am also glad she figured out a way to "have her cake and eat it too" by still accepting the win from the contest and returning to Santorini too. I loved how the author slipped in beautiful parts about photography and following your dreams. The cover for this book is perfect. I hope to travel to Greece one day in real life but this book made me feel like I've been there already! Thank you Netgalley,HarperCollins and Samantha Parks for such a great book!!!
A deliciously romantic tale of escapism, of finding what is really important. A great first novel by Samantha Parks.
Anna finds herself in a rut, her love life is a mess and her career going nowhere, when she finds out she has inherited a house in Santorini, from her recently deceased, estranged father. So she heads there with a plan to fix up the summer house and sell it on, before returning to her normal life. Of course, things don't quite go to plan...
A heart warming story of forging relationships, finding answers and creating new beginnings.
Loved this story about Anne and her life when trying to put her life back in order. I can just see Greece and this slice of heaven. The author Samantha Parks did a great job putting you there with Anne . Very enjoyable easy read. Enjoy it very much. Thank you for the chance to review this book.
I simply adored this book. I loved the descriptions of Santorini and the surrounding. Also, the author made good work of describing the relationship between the two main characters and also the friends and family. For sure I would check out future books by this author.
I really loved this book! I was transported there! Sunshine and a beautiful setting teamed with summer love! Very uplifting!
First of all....I WANT TO GO TO GREECE NOW!! This read was very refreshing and when I found out it was her first novel, I was surprised! I loved the description of Greece and how beautiful it was. The characters in this book really added to the complete story. Each character was weaved into the story so well that it wouldn't be the same if you took one away. The love story was sweet but I truly appreciated seeing how Anna changed throughout the story gave me the most satisfaction. This was terrific escape read that I highly recommend.
Well done!!!
The Summer House in Santorini is a perfect beach read. Having just come back from a week in Greece it was the perfect book to stave off the holiday blues.
The book follows Anna. She’s not having the best of times with relationship, work and family issues. She ends up spending her summer on the beautiful island of Santorini not has to decide whether she wants to stay and make a life there or go back home to America.
This book is full of white washed buildings, blue domed roofs, perfect sunsets and of course gorgeous Greek men. It’s so descriptive you can almost imagine you’re walking along the streets with Anna.
Great characters and a story that you can totally immerse yourself in. I would give this book 4.5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.
This was a beautiful summer romance on a Greek Island, what's not to like. When Anna finds out her father has left her sister, Lizzy, and her his summer home on Santorini Island she is at a crossroads. All she has ever wanted to be is a photographer. She works in the gallery of a famous photographer, hoping for her big break, but so far, nothing. She has just seen her boss and sometime lover with another woman and after confronting him, she tells him she is going to Greece. He unceremoniously fires her and she has no reason not to spend time in Greece. Her father left his family behind in the US when Anna was only five, so she has never met her grandparents and thinks she hates her deceased father. Can the allure of a Greek Island in summer, a handsome Greek man, her grandparents, a neglected cottage and her first true female friend change her mind about staying?
This was a sweet, new beginnings romance story with some family drama as well. When Anna heads off to Santorini, she is somewhat bitter, yet hopeful that she could fix up the summer house, sell it and use the money to live on while trying to become known in the photography world. She is also a bit insecure and afraid of relationships. Thinking her father abandoned her when she was five, has set the stage for her feelings about men, as inaccurate as the information from her mother may be. When she allowed herself to loosen up, we meet a new, loving, carefree Anna. This is the Anna I liked. I loved the characters of Niko and Elena. They supported Anna, became her friends and loved her. I was rooting for Niko to break through Anna's defenses so she could figure out what she wanted out of life, not what she thought she needed or deserved.
The setting was wonderful. Samantha Parks did a wonderful job with the descriptions of where they were and what they were seeing. I could almost visualize what they saw, even though I have never been to Greece. You can bet that it just moved up on my bucket list of places to go. Overall, this was a great summer story about love, new beginnings, taking chances and not always believing everything you are told about another person. I definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a summer romance involving new beginnings. This is another one of those books that I could see being made into a Hallmark Movie that I would love to watch. Bravo.
