I am always a little concerned when the abduction of children is the subject of a book, Still, a good read with lots of twists and turns. A great fast-paced read. Recommended.

This was a great thriller. There were twists I wasn't expecting and I was hooked right away. I can't wait to read more by this author. Really amazing read that had me guessing and questioning everything.

I enjoyed the plot of this book - despite not really feeling the depth of any of the characters. The premise is a good one - abused mother escapes with young child to a different state. Abusive husband isn't happy. Young child gets abducted. Who did it and what will happen next? However the characters are painted only with broad brushstrokes and so I ended up not being too bothered about them as people. Seeing where the plot went did make up for this though hence my 4 star review.

Without a Trace

Nova: The mother.

Fleeing an abusive husband with her young daughter Lily

Clara: The neighbour and owner of the cabin that Nova is hiding out in.

And when Lily goes missing from her bed...

Ellie: The cop called in to find her.

This is a fast paced thriller, told from the 3 main characters points of view.

It raises many questions, like who was really the abuser? Nova or her husband? Does Lily really exist? and what dark secret is Clara hiding?

Full of twists and turns, this was a book I couldn't put down. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to read more from this author.

With thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and author for a free ARC in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Thanks to Netgally for the loan of this book.
More twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride, what a thrilling read. A mother escaping from an abuser? Or a delusional liar running away to escape her past? It's both! Add some characters with more than a few secrets of their own and you have the recipe for a great book, which this is, read it now.

I absolutely loved this book. I liked how throughout the book you got a little bit more of the story and could start to piece it together.

Not a typical who-dunnit and thats why I think I enjoyed it. Every time you learn something new about a character or a characters relationship, your predictions about what happened change.

Definitely a book that made me think!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!

At first you think it's just another typical abuse/disappearance situation but, just when you think you have the puzzle figured out, you come to another plot twist. Was a very well written book. Would definitely recommend.

Now thiiiiis was what I call a perfect thriller! I finished this book in just two sessions and the only reason I took that break between them was that I needed to catch a few hours of sleep before going to work. I honestly hadn’t have a single clue of what the hell was really going on until the big reveal from the end. Usually, even if you’re maybe mistaken, you at least suspect a character or another of being the bad guy, the one that organized the whole crime or kidnapping. Contrarily to most of the thrillers or detective stories, where almost all the characters might give you at some point the impression that they are guilty, in Without A Trace, nothing seems to link properly in order for you to honestly suspect any of them. All of them seem, if not likeable, at least innocent enough and incapable of doing the amount of harm that seems that was done. Even after I finished the book, I still needed some time to digest what I just read, to absorb how wrong I’ve been while going through the story.

Another thing that surprised me was how little I cared about each character, despite of how captivated I was by the story itself. I did not relate to any of the characters, I didn’t feel that the insight that the author gives is enough to make the reader connect to the characters. Most of them look more like sketches instead of full, complete portraits. Despite this, the whole plot is so twisted and surprising that I haven’t felt the need to know them deeper.

Even the rhythm of the storyline is accentuating the addiction that you grow for this book. It jumps from a few slow paced chapters to old memories that might seem useless at that certain moment, only to fall into a sudden waterfall of events that takes you rolling down without any warnings.

Without saying this in a negative way, I have a feeling that Without A Trace might be that kind of book that you’ll forget pretty soon after you finish it. You know how some stories just don’t last long in your memory, that all the details get blurry and disappear after a very short time? But what does stay in your mind is the awesome feeling that you had while reading it and the excited alarms that start in your brain whenever you’ll see the title or the cover on a library’s shelf. And sometimes, that’s all you need from a book: a few hours of excitement and the deceiving lie that we always use on those late nights when we’re so caught up in a story „I’ll just finish this page and then sleep”. We all know how that works…

Bone-Chilling suspense by Carissa Ann Lynch. This is one of the best books I read this year. The suspense is mind-blowing! The characters are well portrayed. The story is about domestic abuse and how women make up their minds and fight for justice. This story sends out a strong message. I highly recommend it.

This book had me captured to the very end. I wish it had a little more detail as how it twined into a conclusion at the end, but it was well worth the read.

As soon as I read the blurb for this book, I was intrigued and knew I had to read it.
I was definitely not disappointed.
I loved the characters, Ellie and Nova.
Ellie, so strong and smart. Nova, strong in a subtle way.
I would absolutely read more stories from this author and I have already ordered this book for my sister (not being able to tell her about it in fear of accidentally letting slip a spoiler has been utter torture).

The mystery of whether Lilly was real or not was what gripped me from the blurb but from the first chapter, what gripped me was the story of both Nova and Ellie. I was fascinated by Officer James and really connected with her. Young and ambitious, she really is a great character.

I received a copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley but this has in no way influenced my opinion or review.

I really enjoyed this book, written from three different but interwoven points of view you gradually get the full picture. Or you think you do? Or do you? It’s one to keep you guessing right until the end. Is Lily real? Was she ever there? Is her mum insane? Did her dad take her?
