Finley and Shep's love story is all kinds of adorable misunderstandings mixed in with some serious consequences that I truly didn't see coming. This is not my favorite story of this writer's, but I did like Finley and Shep.
3.5 stars
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Falling in love with your best friend’s sister could possibly destroy the friendship he has and everything he has struggled to achieve. Definitely a great story!
Shepard and Finley are amazing! Their story was so entertaining to read. It had angst, emotion and humor. I fell in love with all of the Farrow siblings and I want more! This was a wonderful story, Terri does not disappoint. I have a feeling we will be getting more stories involving these siblings.
I enjoyed this! It was a sweet new adult story with a little bit of angst, but not too bad. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters and would read it again.
Songs For Cricket is a good brother's best friend/friends to lovers read. I enjoy the way this author pens her stories they are so good, and I always have a hard time putting them down once I start. The characters are developed and you can't help liking them. What was even better is this is the second generation, so it was great to see some of my favorite past characters as parents. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
This was a very sweet tale of romance. I loved this book and need to go back and read the others in the series.
It made me smile to read the twists ad turns and the pure love and romance. I love happier after after books.
Shepard and Finley were a tender and sweet couple destined to be together. Their story was heart warming
This just wasn’t a good read for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters so I think it’s a me issue and not a writer issue. It may work for someone else.
The title and nickname of Cricket were a little off. Other than that, I really enjoyed this story. Finley and Shepard both wanted more from their relationship, but neither thought the other was interested. Add in the family friend connection, and roommate situation, and things are tangled. Their chemistry was realistic and the plot line of Finley playing football were great.
This was different than I was expecting, I ended up skimming over a few of the parts, I'd recommend it to an older audience.
As always, Laine gives us an amazing story that makes your heart melt and swoon. I loved the characters and the concept. Great fluidity and build up! Always love her work and this one did not disappoint at all!
Shepard has been in love with Finley since they were kids, but she has always been off limits because she is his best friend’s sister. Finley has always loved Shepard, but she believes she’s only a tomboy in his eyes. But when they head off to college, everything changes as Finley tries out for the college football team ... and makes it. Shepard has to make his move before he looses her forever to a teammate.
This is a sweet romance with a good storyline, but there were no surprises ... everything was predictable. I didn’t fall in love with the main characters, but they were okay. I thought that Finley’s brothers (August and Cooper) were very interesting and I hope they get their own stories.
I always enjoy reading a book by Terri E. Laine. This one was no exception. I really enjoyed the romance between the two main characters. I would say well done and would recommend!
Have you ever just needed a book that was a breath of fresh air? That is what this book was for me. I fell in love with these characters and loved how you were able to see them find their path in life. Love can blind you and make you whole at the same time. I loved the plot of this book, friends to lovers in such an incredible genre. The writing is easy to follow and draws you in at just the right time leaving you wanting more and needing to finish this book in one sitting. I look forward to reading more for this author in the future.
I enjoyed this new spinoff to the other series with a whole new set of charactes. Shep and Finley were sweet and while there was some angst it wasn't too much. Looking forward to the next books and hoping we get Finn's too.
I am such a fan of the friends to lovers genre. Falling for your brothers friend and having grown up together is always a lovely story of discovery. Finely and Shep are just that couple. You will fall in love with their friendship and watch them make their way towrds one another . Yes as always the little sister is off limits but sometimes fate has a way of taking you places you never imagined .

Finley and Shepard have known each other for a long time. They both secretly like each other but Shepard is the best friend of her brother. They are now away at college will either admit their feelings? If they do what will consequences be?
Beautiful book that I loved everything
The characters were perfect, the storyline was interesting
I read a lot of books, averaging one book per day and a half. Luckily, I take notes while reading to help me when writing reviews. Songs for Cricket had a great story line, but a less than amazing execution. While I would read the book again if asked to, I found there to be too much going on in it. From the start you are introduced to a handful of characters. I strongly believe that aspects of the story and/or characters could be eliminated and it would make the book an easier and more intriguing read. While not everyone introduced plays a large role in the book they are connected to each other, which is why I highly recommend taking notes while reading this book. The ending left a lot to be desired. August's story was left unresolved, which frustrates me the most. It felt rushed and had other plot points been eliminated I believe there would have been more focus on the more important sub-stories throughout. All in all, it is a good book, but lacking what it needs to become unforgettable.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are solely those of my own.
Shepard and Finley’s story is brutal: brutally twisted, brutally thrilling and brutally emotional. I was a wreck after I finished reading it.
It made me gasp and groan out in frustration and horror not only once… sometimes because of the stubbornness of both main protagonists, sometimes because of the unexpected twists and turns and sometimes just because I felt like it.
Both characters should get an award for their stubbornness; it is not only once that I wanted to shake them and knock some common sense into them, and make them talk to each other and stop them assuming they knew what the other one thought. There are so many misunderstandings between them that it felt like a horror trip to read about them. And their lack of the right timing is just as horrible! Sometimes I wanted to throw a pity party for them or throw my kindle across the room… I cold not decide which one, lol!
But the bumps that this evil genius Terri E. Laine throws into their way kind of made up for their stubbornness because, honestly, they made their live so much more miserable that now and then I wanted to make Ms. Laine re-write their story.
This book truly is an emotional rollercoaster ride par excellence and Ms. Laine surpassed herself once again! I LOVED IT!
