Excellent and entertaining regency/highlander romance. The blurb gives a good description of the story. What you don't see is the humor that runs throughout the book. The three MacTaggerts were forced to leave their beloved highlands due to their absentee mother. Niall is ever the diplomat among the three brothers. Amelia-Rose has to hide her true self due to societies rules. The three MacTaggerts are loud, strong and shock London. Ms. Enoch developed the characters and story line so this reader hurried to finish. I received a complementary copy of this book via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author especially in this series.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest review. For me this book started off slow. 3 brothers going to see their mother after years apart. Promising to marry. The twists and turns in this book made it a joy to read. Niall & Amelia-Rose make a wonderful couple. He’s the ruff Highlander who doesn’t want the typical English bride. She is full of spit & vinegar. If you are looking for an enjoyable read this is for you.
It's Getting Scot in Here by Suzanne Enoch is the First book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders Series. This is the story of Niall MacTaggert and Amelia Rose Baxter.
Amelia's mother is dead set on her marrying into a Titled husband, so Amelia has tried to please her mother by acting the young brainless easy going miss that she isn't. Coll, Aden, and Niall are the Mactaggert brother who learn that to keep what they have and to continue to support their clan they must meet with their mother who left with their sister after she was born, and marry who she picks before their sister is married. This was a bargain that was struck between their mother Francesca and their father Angus since Francesca's father left her in charge of the money she brought to the marriage. Now the time is up, Coll, Viscount Glendarril, Aden, and Niall have to go to London to meet their bride in addition to seeing their mother they haven't seen in years. Coll is the Titled Lord that has been set to marry Amelia Rose but he doesn't want to marry and goes forward to try turn her away from him. Amelia is taken with Niall but he is the youngest son and one her mother wouldn't allow her to marry. Niall tries to calm the feathers that Coll has ruffed with Amelia Rose finds that he really likes her and would want her for his own...but can either of them walk away from their mother's dealing?
4.5 stars, rounded up.
Angus MacTaggert, the Earl of Aldriss needed a rich wife, so he left his beloved Scotland and ventured to London, where he met Francesca Oswell, the only child of the very rich Viscount Hornford. They fell madly in love and married within days - soon after Angus took his bride back to the highlands and some hard truths were learned, like Francesca didn't really like the isolation of the highlands and Angus learned that Francesca's father made sure his money stayed in Francesca's control. Over the next thirteen years, they have three sons, Francesca wanted to take the boys to London, but Angus refused. When a daughter finally came along, she insisted that her daughter be raised as a lady and that meant London. In an effort to keep some control over her sons, she made Angus agree to a bargain - all her sons had to marry before their sister to proper Englishwomen and at least one of them would marry a woman chosen by Francesca. If they fail to meet the terms of the agreement, she will no longer support Aldriss. Angus agrees, sure that he will find a way to get around the agreement. But 17 years later, he gets the letter that their daughter Eloise is engaged and if he wants to continue receiving funds to run the estate, it is time to send the boys to London!
Coll, Viscount Glendarril and his younger brothers Aden and Niall head to London and make quite an entrance - complete with pipers and a stuffed Red Stag, affectionately known as Rory. Tensions run high when they meet their estranged mother and only get worse when the Countess informs them that she has already chosen a bride for Coll and he will meet her at the theater. Coll is not happy and insists that his brothers attend, Francesca lets him bring one - Niall, the youngest and the "diplomat" of the family.
Amelia-Rose Baxter is a dutiful daughter and will do what is expected, especially if that means being able to get out from underneath her title-hungry, domineering mother's thumb. Amelia-Rose is not meek mouse the MacTaggert boys plan to marry - but she tries very hard to make people believe she is. When she meets Coll and lets her perfect lady mask slip - he leaves the theater and the evitable fallout for Niall to deal with.
Niall likes Amelia-Rose from the get go, but she is meant for his brother and if they don't marry, Aldriss will suffer. He smooths her ruffled feathers and makes excuses for Coll. She may not be the meek and mild woman Coll wants, but damn, he likes her and her sass! And so it begins...
When Coll doesn't return to the house, Niall forms a plan to spend time with Amelia-Rose until Aden can find their wayward brother. He will make excuses for him and exalt Coll's virtues to her and make sure she doesn't refuse to wed him. But the more time he spends with her, the more he likes her and wants her for himself.
Amelia-Rose doesn't want to marry Coll, she doesn't want to leave London and wonders if he will be willing to stay in town. She likes Niall, much more than his churlish brother, but he is the younger son with no title and no fortune and her mother will never agree to a match. But when Niall saves her from social ruin and steals a kiss, Amelia-Rose wonders if she could defy her parents and if she could be happy in Scotland.
It is clear that these two are meant to be, but the road to a HEA will be rough and there will be many obstacles along the way. But with the help of his brothers and even his mother - they might just be able to find a way.
I really loved this story, Niall is a wonderful hero and very easy to like, as is Amelia-Rose. I enjoyed their journey to HEA, it was filled with laughter, tough decisions, some slightly nefarious deeds, steamy love scenes and men in kilts :) I am happy to recommend this book and am looking forward to Aden & Coll's stories and am even hoping for a reunion between Angus and Francesca!
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for an uncorrected eARC that was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.*
Good premise, lots of perspectives, and a romance that grew as time went on. I'm excited to see where the rest of the brothers find their loves (and maybe a novella from Eloise's point of view???)
Seventeen years ago Francesca left her husband Angus MacTaggart, Earl of Aldriss & three sons but took her young daughter Eloise with her. Francesca was funding Angus’ estate & had laid down demands for her to continue to do so. She'd demanded that all three sons would marry Englishwomen & one of them would marry a bride of her choosing, this had to be done before Eloise married. Now the three sons travel to London as Eloise has become betrothed. Coll is chosen by Francesca to marry Amelia-Rose (Amy) Baxter. Amy is nobody's fool & whilst her parents may want her to catch a title she knows exactly what she wants in a husband.
Rough, rugged Highlander Niall MacTaggert and his brothers know the rules but Coll just isn't interested in Amy the lady his mother has selected. Niall is the peacemaker & steps in to save Amy from humiliation.
A well written page turning novel that at times had me laughing out loud, the Highlanders’ arrival in London is priceless. The characters are well fleshed, I really liked all three brothers, Eloise & Amy but I completely disliked both mothers especially Mrs Baxter. No way could I forgive Francesca for abandoning her sons & separating them from Eloise, even though she did try to atone for her actions. The story flowed well & kept my interest all the way through
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I had seen this one around and knew a few friends who loved it, so I couldn’t resist requesting it.
I loved Amelia-Rose and Niall. She’s a little prickly and he’s a little pushy and they’re both really good and loyal people. It was amusing reading their banter and fascination with each other. I especially loved the steadfastness of Francesca and I hope we get to see her in other books.
Plot wise, it was mostly good. I enjoyed reading the shift from Niall making excuses for his brother to wanting to court Amelia-Rose. There were a couple of scenes that were a slight bit repetitive and there wasn’t nearly as much conversation as I would have liked. And while the last chapter was satisfying, I definitely wanted an epilogue.
Overall, it was the characters who kept me reading. I’m quite invested in this group and I’m eager to see the next story.
**Huge thanks St. Martin’s Paperbacks for providing the arc free of charge**
This prologue is awesome. Their mother is great.
Well, they could have come to London sooner.
Ugh, does her mother even like her?
Where the heck are you, Coll?
Poor Eloise, haha! What an introduction to having brothers!
Oy, Turner should never reproduce.
Poor Coll! Welcome to London, indeed.
That really was brilliant.
Shut it, Coll.
My hero!
It's good to have pipers at your disposal.
Jane knows a double entendre when she hears one.
Old Sean and I could never be friends.
That was so hot.
Jane is improving her vocabulary. What the heck is a chaw bacon, anyway?
Oh, that was very clever of her. I could punch her mother for forcing this effeminate man on her.
So sneaky!
Jane would do for Coll.
I think she will be able to come back to London sooner than she thinks.
I'd like to see Rory in person.
The bishop has a nice little business going on here.
I bow down to you, Francesca.
At least her father has a brain.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading It's Getting Scot in Here by Suzanne Enoch. I enjoyed meeting the characters and I look forward to reading more about the characters as their stories are told. I loved the funny bits! I don't want to give anything away but some laugh out loud moments. I also enjoyed the things that were a little different than the normal Season events.
What a romantic, witty book! I am in love with Coll, Aiden, and Niall! They are my kind of Alpha Males; kind, loving, sexy, willing to kill to protect those they love! Countess MacTaggert left her Highlander, after bearing three sons, one daughter, not wanting her daughter to grow up in the wild Highlands, she leaves her young sons with their father, a Scottish Earl, and returns to London. She had made an agreement with the Early, if Lady Eloise, married before her sons, the money to upkeep Castle Aldriss would stop! Lady Eloise is engaged! Descending on their Mother, her three enormous angry, resentful sons, must marry English brides! Great story, love all the MacTaggerts! The only problem I have is, all of the sons; and daughter of an Earl are addressed as Lord ; and Lady. This needs to be addressed in the book. Diana's father was an Earl, that is why she was addressed as Lady Diana Spencer, prior to marrying Prince Charles!
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!

I don’t know about that title, but I’m happy to say I couldn’t put this book down.
The prologue gave some facts that set up the new series, though it was dry and I almost gave up before starting chapter 1. I’m so glad I didn’t.
Amelia-Rose’s mother is determined to have her daughter marry a title. So she makes a deal with the estranged mother of a future Scottish earl. Only her almost fiancé is rude, scary, and never around...but his handsome, younger brother is. If only he had a title so she could Marry him instead.
Niall and his 2 older brothers are forced to go to London to marry English lasses so their mother will not cut off funds for their clan estate. He’s immediately attracted to the wrong girl, she’s to wed his brother, only he can’t stay away from her himself.
I loved Niall and Amy’s story and can’t wait to read more in this sweet and funny romance series.
First off, love the title of this book. Play on words always brings a smile to my face just like this story. Not too much angst just a very sweet guy who tries to take care of those he loves. This is a slow burn romance but I sometimes need to read these types of stories. The dynamics of the MacTaggert family are interesting. You can see that they love each other (mostly) but also the trepidation of the three boys’ relationship with their mother. I would have liked more action and angst in the relationship between Niall and Amelia-Rose but being that this the first book in the series, I understand it is a set up for the other stories.
Looking forward to Coll and Aden’s and even Eloise’s stories and maybe interwoven, their parent’s reunion, maybe?
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. It’s Getting Scot In Here is the first book in what I am sure is going to be an awesome series by Suzanne Enoch. The McTaggert brothers have come down to London from the Scottish Highlands because there is an agreement in place between their parents that their mother who lives in London will only continue to fund the family estate in Scotland if she choses a bride for one of the brothers and the other two brothers marry English brides. The brother of course are angry and resentful about this turn of events as they felt that their mother abandoned them when she took their sister and left the highlands many years ago. The oldest brother Coll, Lord Glendarril is supposed to marry the bride of his mother’s choice Amelia-Rose Baxter who’s parents want a title for her. These two are like oil and water and it is left to youngest brother Nial McTaggert the peacemaker in the family to try and smooth things over and when he spends time with his brothers bride to be he discovers that perhaps he has feelings for her.
I enjoyed this novel very much and can’t wait for the rest of the series. Medium Steam. Publishing Date February 26, 2019 #NetGalley #ItsGettingScotInHere #SuzanneEnoch #StMartinsPress
The first book I’ve read by Enoch, but it won’t be my last! The first in the series about the MacTaggert brothers - Niall is the youngest and the peacemaker. He and his brothers are in London to find wives - you have to read the story to find out why. Amelia-Rose is to be wed to the oldest brother, Coll, but she and Niall find they are attracted to each other.
I do love a good Scottish hero and the MacTaggert brothers are three great heroes. Love their sense of family and loyalty. The romance between Niall and Amelia-Rose is sweet and hot. I found myself quickly vested in all the characters and I’m not sure how I will wait for Aden and Coll’s stories.
Many thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.
I need to post this to the Love Books Blog first before it goes to goodreads and amazon. But this is the review that will be posted. I'll add links when it's published
This the start of a new series by the fabulous Suzanne Enoch. A story of three MacTaggert brothers who are left with their father in Scotland, while their Sassenach mother takes their younger sister and raises her in London. The mother and father fell in love passionately but things were not as they seemed and she could no longer live in the Highlands. He refused to let her take the sons- but as a way to ensure she'll see her sons someday, she creates a contract that ensures they three are married before their younger sister. As part of the deal, she gets to choose one bride for one of the boys. The oldest and a Viscount, Mal, has pulled the lucky ticket. But it's the youngest, Niall, who is enthralled with Lady Amelia Rose.
What might seem as an easy courting- since the oldest wants nothing to do with the Lady - turns into a mission for Niall. Because her parents want a title in the family, which belongs to his brother. But it's Niall whom Lady Amelia Rose loves. And vice/versa.
It's a story of a woman who has been at the expense of her parent's decisions and finally decides to take her life in her own hands. And a man who will stop at nothing to be with the woman he loves. And of course, we slowly learn about his mother's contract with his father, and why she left him for 17 years. SO fun and can't wait for the next in the series.
It’s Getting Scot in Here is the first book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series. It’s a wonderful start to the series!! I enjoyed reading about Niall and Amelia-Rose. Niall MacTaggert is asked to come to London, along with his two other brothers, to marry an English lady in exchange for their mother to continue providing funds for their land in Scotland. The three brothers were an adorable bunch. Their scenes together were fun to read. All three are very likeable and different.
Niall and Amy’s relationship was a sweet one. She’s first attached to Coll, Niall’s older brother. It’s an agreement between their families. Their personalities do not match and that is when Niall steps in to try smooth things between them. He is so romantic and sweet with her. It took me a while to warm up to Amy. She at first was not interested in the life Niall was offering her. It is until later when she is given the choice of how she wants to live it that I understood her reasoning of wanting to just stay in London.
Great start and highly recommendable!
This was the first book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series three brothers are forced to go to London and see their mother who they haven't seen in 17 years and marry english women and one has to be one has to be a woman of her choosing Coll as the oldest was chosen but after barley meeting the girl he disappears so Niall the youngest steps up and takes Amelia-Rose around they ended up falling for each other but her parents wont accept the match since Niall isn't tittled and try to force her to marry someone who is
It's Getting Scot in Here is just wow. Might I start with a sigh because if you can read this book and not fall in love with Niall MacTaggert you might be a cold-hearted shrew unworthy of a good romance novel. Niall and his brothers, Col and Aden, have been put over a barrel by their estranged mother. A woman whom they have not seen in seventeen years demands they marry English women before their younger sister or lose the means to take care of their Scottish home. They have just weeks to pull of this massive feat. Loud, boisterous highlanders that love a good fight, the men travel to London to deal with their mother and her demands. Amelia-Rose Baxter's family wants a title and are willing to sell her off to Lady Aldiss's plans for her oldest son Coll in exchange for his title. Amelia-Rose tries hard to be timid and agreeable but her tongue keeps getting her into trouble. It comes as no surprise when Coll storms out upon their first meeting when she calls him out for his attitude. The surprise comes when the youngest brother, Niall steps in to make her comfortable and admires her sharp wit and straight talking ways. When Niall keeps showing up to maintain the illusion that his brother will fall in line, Amelia-Rose cannot help but enjoy herself and feel comfortable in her own skin for maybe the first time. After years of her mother trying to change her, it becomes a heady thing for a man to admire her for herself. A lot of trouble later, the couple might just accidentally find their way to the sweetest HEA this reader has read in a long time. Laundry and chores were thrown by the wayside because once I started this wild, humorous ride I literally could not put it down. This book made me fall in love with Highlanders all over again. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
A verÿ good fun Historical romance with men in kilts
Blackmailed my their mother who they haven't seen since she left Scotland .
Three. Brothers goes to England to find brides.
The fun and romance begins.
Enjoyed reading.
Voluntarily reviewed.
I really loved this book! This is the third book I’ve read by this author but by no means the last. I can’t wait to read about the other brothers. Niall was an easy hero to love, wanting to do right by those close to him and not letting obstacles get in his way. Amelia-Rose always tried to please her parents, even if it meant not being true to who she was. I felt this was a pretty fast paced book and held my interest throughout.
