Chasing Fire is a good fit for readers who enjoy stories about courageous firefighters and rescuers facing the challenges of a raging wildfire, showcasing teamwork, determination, and the will to protect their community.
I loved all of Pamela Clare's I-Team series books. Chasing Fire is a I-Team / Colorado High Team cross over title. It's a great book and I would recommend this title to anyone who has read any of Pamela Clare's other titles.
This author did not disappoint. This novel reached out and grabbed me from the very first page and did not let go until the very last.
Another great read by a talented author I really enjoyed reading it and will definitely read more and recommend reading it
Well now that my freaking tears have dries I can actually see well enough to write this review, because holy fuck did I cry buckets when reading this one. Almost I must warn you to not begin this one unless you can devote the time to get to the end, because you will not be able to sleep and certainly working will be torture if you are forced to deal with it in the middle of this story. Pamela Clare might be an angel most of the time, but I cursed her so many times while reading this that even her years might have been bleeding. This story revolved around all of our favorite characters from Pamela’s two contemporary series, the I-Team and Colorado High Country, as their lives crossed in a tragic and heartbreaking story of danger and true heroism. It is really difficult to speak too much about the book without giving away plot points, but I will do my level best. The story begins with the I-Team badasses beginning a join training mission just outside Scarlet Springs with the county sheriff’s office and saying sweet and sexy goodbyes to their wives. Slowly we go through day-to-day uneventful beginnings for each of the main characters in the book and get to see how the characters will come together in forced circumstances. When a fire breaks out, in the forest outside of Scarlet, the whole town is soon involved and we get to see all the everyday heroes we have gotten to know from both series put themselves out there to make sure that civilians and friends are safe. We live through the drama of possible lost loved ones, missing persons, and the dangers these men and women face daily right alongside them as the fire intensifies, and the tears and fears make it impossible to stop turning the page even long enough to feed yourself. While it isn’t the typical structure of a romance novel, I dare to say it is truly a romance, as the love these individuals have for their families, friends, and significant others is undeniable at any single moment of the story. Pamela is one of the few authors that truly understand the psyche and lifestyle of these everyday heroes that we so often take for granted, and she continues to amaze me with the way she reminds us to appreciate them. I was sad to see the pain that so many of the characters had to deal with, but in the end I know that they will all be fine and that their HEAs are going to hold steady for the rest of their long lives. The beauty off this story is allowing the reader to renew the love of characters and series that we have missed in the past as we have moved to new series and also getting interesting reminder of the dangers we humans face daily if we aren’t careful to make sure that we respect the world around us. I am hoping there is more coming in the Colorado High Country series, but if not, then Chasing Fire was a fitting end to the series as well and one that I won’t be forgetting any time soon.
Chasing Fire is a crossover novel, combining characters and locales from Ms. Clare's two Action /Suspense series. If you have read the I Team or Colorado High Country Series, you will have no trouble getting into Chasing Fire. If this is your first Pamela Clare, I think it might leave you wondering and wandering. That being said, Chasing Fire is really enjoyable. It's fast paced, passionate, and well balanced. I recommend both series, as the characters are so very engaging, complex and clear voiced. Ms. Clare writes with passion and humor, her dialogue is crisp, and her settings beautifully drawn. I think what I appreciate most is her ability to write mature character profiles and passionate love scenes.
I received my copy through netGalley under no obligation.
This book was fantastic, I now am going to go back and reread all of the books to catch up with everything else.. Who doesn't love crossover books!? You got to keep up with past characters and their families all while they fought to help each other against mother nature. This book is absolutely awesome and will definitely be a reread.
Unfortunately this is not a stand-alone book and is a part of a series in which I've not had the pleasure of reading. Perhaps it's best to state that is the book description or blurb to inform other readers that have not had the opportunity to read the first two installments as well. Unfortunately it would have been hard for to grasp the story, characters and concept so I have decided to not finish the book. "Chasing Fire" will most likely be picked back up again in the future once I read the previous books in the series. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for taking the time to provide me an ARC of this novel.
This is one of the most outstanding books I've read, as Pamela Clare pours life into this incredible story of courage, bravery and valor of the first responders and the support of the entire law enforcement in the face of adversity, A town that stands together, and people with hearts as big as the blue sky to provide unconditional support and love, to weather any calamity that Mother Nature hurls at humans.
"Chasing Fire" needs to be read as the I-Team and the Colorado High Country crossover and work tirelessly to protect their town from turning to ashes!
A fabulous read indeed!
Eric is the chief of the fire department in the town of Scarlet Springs, Colorado. He knows it's only a matter of time until another fire comes to destroy the town like the one in the 1800's. I-team members Marc, Julian and Zach are on a training mission when they end up in Scarlet Springs. Will the FD and I-team members be able to save the town and their friends? An awesome crossover book that I loved reading.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.
Twisty tale of fire fighters in a small resort community. I liked this book but it's didn't light a flame under me. It was well written and had great characters and dialog though. Perhaps it wasn't my cup of tea?
I've openly admitted I have a thing for firefighters and this title did not disappoint my fantasy life! Hawke is the ultimate alpha male and I loved how his story developed. I can't wait to add all these titles to my library and share it with my readers who are fans of "men in uniform" of all kinds.
When the first responders of Scarlet Springs notice the first plume of smoke, tensions immediately ramp up and the men and women snap to attention. What follows is a nail-biting, on the edge of your seat, action-packed ride as everyone, from simply residents, to different responders (hot shots, smoke jumpers, firefighters, medics and law enforcement) to the animals of Scarlet Springs and nearby areas, evacuate and attempt to help battle the fire.
Although I've only read two of the Colorado High Country series, and none of the I-Team series, it was fairly easy to read and understand what was going on in Chasing Fire. I didn't recognize all the characters here of course, but of the ones I did recognize, I loved seeing them again, especially Chaska and Naomi and Jesse and Ellie. From page one, down to the very last page, I was so into this story, wanting to know how/if everyone would get out, and if Scarlet Springs would be saved. I also have to say that reading this story was really hard for me (although easy to relate to) because my brother and his eldest son just lost their homes and all their physical belongings in the recent Camp Fire fire that ravaged Paradise in Northern California. But, at the same time, because I was able to relate, it made me appreciate this story all the more. I felt every emotion the characters felt - all the fear, all the anger, all the anguish, and finally, the joy that they were alive. Thank you, Pamela Clare, for this beautiful, moving, action-packed story!
Ever since I discovered Pamela Clare's distinctive style of writing I've been captivated by her stories. Chasing Fire is a crossover featuring characters from both the Colorado High Country and I-Team series’.
I highly recommend this title to anyone who is familiar with Pamela’s work, if you haven’t read her previous books, you may feel a little lost with all the names and connections. Chasing Fire is told from multiple points of view and has multiple story lines running concurrently.
For anyone who is familiar with the cast of characters from both series’ this title feels more like an extended epilogue, with updates on all the characters you’ve come to know and love.
Pamela’s stories are always jam packed full of action, drama, intrigue and suspense. Chasing Fire will have your heart pounding, sitting on the edge of your seat, as you encounter many of your favourite characters facing an epic out of control wild fire that endangers not only the town of Scarlett Springs, but several of their lives as well.
If you love a small town romance with strong themes of family, friendship, and community I highly recommend not only this title, but both the Colorado High Country series, and the I-Team series as well.
I was completely captivated by this title and cannot wait for Ms Clare’s next release!
Pamela Clare's books are always well-written with interesting and exciting plots. This was a fun one because she crossed two great series: Colorado High Country and I-Team. What's not to like! I enjoyed catching up with previous couples, although I was often straining to remember their adventures. I will note that it isn't necessary to have read past books to enjoy this one as a stand-alone.
The plot worked well to integrate all characters and the danger the fire posed was suspenseful and kept my pages turning. Pamela Clare has become one of my favorites in this genre and I look forward to each and every book.
Love the I-Team and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this little gem of a crossover!
Wildfires always make for a very action-packed, heart-stopping, adrenaline packed stories. Add in your favourite residents of Scarlet Springs and it is non-stop roller coaster ride!
First responders all over Scarlet Springs, Colorado wake to a red alert, warning of expected high winds later in the day. Eric Hawke, the town’s fire chief, has worked tirelessly to prepare his residents by promoting prevention measures. When he sees a small plume of smoke in the distance, Eric mobilizes to investigate and resolve before this turns into a bigger disaster that could threaten the surrounds and the town.
If you’re a fan of the author and the Colorado High Country & the I-Team series, you will think you’ve reached nirvana when reading this story. It is a stroke of brilliance to create a crossover story between the two series. It has everything...tension, suspense, community and romance. Every character has some role, all highly relevant, as the fire grows and rages out of control. The beginning lays firm ground for quietly beginning the background tension as you can slowly sense what may be coming. There are multiple storylines within the main plot and the transitions are handled skillfully with perfect timing.
I loved the updates from all the characters almost as much as I did the central story. Sometimes the suspense was so tough I had to put the book down to take a much needed breath. This story hit every high mark and is just flawless. I’m leaving out so many details because there’s so much I cannot isolate one subplot over another. This is the best of both series, offering strong themes around community, resilience, family and honor. I loved everything.
FANTASTIC!!! I'm not even going to go into details other than to say that the story telling perfectly captured the urgency and danger of all the people involved in this story. Bravo Pamela Clare! I've read all of the Colorado High Country books and not the I-Team books but had no issues with this story. In fact, if you are looking for a high suspense, danger read regardless of having read the series' it is tied to, this would be a perfect read.
The author has done her homework on this one and it shows. This is a page turner, a tear jerker and has some sweet sexy times thrown in. Top read of the year so far for me.
I decided to wait for a big block of time to read this straight through.
I started this book and discovered that most, if not all the previous main and supporting characters played key roles in this story.
I needed to dedicate time to follow each arch of this book.
There is a new couple to follow: Brandon and Libby.
I love how each book has been so different. This book's title says a lot. Chasing Fire (!). The previous books have mostly been about rescues in mountainous terrain.
Everyone in Scarlet Springs pitches in. There's more grittiness, crime and danger, heroes and heroines. As always, there's Colorado's beauty and fire's ugly and terrible destruction.
Very well done and this is a book that I would love to read again.
4.5 stars! I intend to read the I-Team series and enjoyed these new (to me) characters in this book.
This book felt like a gift to fans of the I Team and Colorado High Country books. Clare managed to blend the characters from both series together and give everyone a story line while keeping the action intense. Well done and thank you!
