Fantastic story and elaborate art. This is a second chance at love story with a handsome brooding hero and a sweet but misunderstood heroine. A must read.

Harlequin romance manga comics are like my romance catnip. Gorgeous illustrations. Romantic stories. Just all around beautiful. And quite often, the comics make me want to go back and read the books too. I think for me, the comics serve a purpose of illustrating a beautiful story and bringing it to life with wonderful illustrations. It's also a teaser and taste of the story it often makes me want to take in the original story for more depth and detail. Between the book and the manga comic, they are a winning combination. And yes, I know, my review of the manga comics are often the same but it's mostly the case because they often get the same reaction from me. Thank you for this wonderful medium in delivering romance to a dedicated reader.

Leo and Maddy had a sweet romance. Friends that loved each other but Maddy married Jeremy, Leo's cousin. I think Jeremy was a douche. I definitely preferred Leo. Leo was wrong in his assumptions but I'm glad they made up in the end.

Review to be posted on all sources mentioned on my blog in a few days.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

After a very disappointing previous Harlequin Manga, I was eager to start a new one. However, instead of picking one I knew I would like I just went ahead and went for one I was worried about to get it all out of the way. This one features another male guy who seems like an enormous dick. Making assumptions. Demanding the girl to do things for him. Pleasing his needs. Also that cover has me worried, such big hands are not healthy.

Wow, dude, what the hell? "Well, if you loved him, you wouldn't have walked out and left him alone for the last six years. If you had just stayed by his side Jeremy might have been at home with you and not in a crazy accident." Boy. What? Ever heard of marriages just not working out? No more love? Abuse? Other things? No. Guessed so.

Thankfully it is time for a flashback to what happened between Jeremy and Maddy. How they met. How Saski(a) was always around and also one of the causes why it went wrong. And how she also met Leo. Apparently he wasn't always a mean guy. Wow, I didn't expect Saski(a) to go for Leo. I agree, with everything I would have also expected her to marry Jeremy. And we finally hit the moment when Jeremy told Maddy about his cheating and her having to leave. :{

"And you, Julia, shouldn't you ask about what happened before demanding apologies?" Hey, this is the pot calling the kettle black.

So you just kissed a girl to test her feelings for her dead husband? What the actual hell? Oh, and then he asks her to marry him so he can help support her.

*sighs*I am mostly just speedreading through this one, I am so utterly bored at the story, the characters are flatter than flat (like paper), and the romance is non-existent. I don't even see a spark. Which would be nice, maybe the flat characters would ignite then.

Wow, whoring yourself out to save a place. *sighs* Dude, really, she needs to rest. I know your dick probably can keep going, but believe me vaginas only last so long before it starts to hurt.

Of course... we are nearing the end and now everything is thrown on the table. All the secrets are out. And now we are supposed to feel sorry for all parties? Or root for them as they can now have a fun romance? Heck no. And well duh, of course she wouldn't tell him. He was a dick throughout the entire book, and even forcing her to have sex with him (I don't care that she actually wanted it, it still was so so wrong in my eyes).

The ending, way too sugary for me after all that crap from this story.

The art was pretty nice. Though the eyes were at times a bit wibbly wobbly.

So yeah, glad I got this one done. It had some good moments, but mostly it just was terrible. I still don't like Leo.

📚I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Harlequin/SB Creative as the publisher in exchange for an honest review📚

Book title : Forsaking All Others: a Harlequin Manga
Author : Suzanne McCarthy ; Illustrator : Ikuko Koda
Release Date : 1 February 2019

Our heroine, Maddy is a singlyle mum. During her husband's funeral, she felt that Leo, her husband's cousin kept starring at her. After the funeral, she found out that her late husband left her an estate. Such a huge fortune sadly it needed huge amount of money for the tax and maintenance. Maddy was out of option. The things were complicated with the appearance of a sneaky woman whom she happened to be Leo's fiance and Maddy's roomate in the dormitory during the highschool. During those chaotic period, Leo came out with the solution: to marry him and he would take care of everything for Maddy and her son.
I love this story for the reasons I do not know why. I guess it is prolly because the plot is evoking. I love seeing how Maddy and Leo try hard to resist their attraction to one and another. Another thing is climax which occurs during the appearance of that sneaky witch. I know even in the end, Leo found out everything and the extra marital between the sneaky witch and Maddy's husband, still I could not help myself to choke the evil lady. The end of the story is emotionally touching especially when I see how Leo finally learns to express his feelings towards Maddy and how Maddy maintains herself to stand still when she is heartbroken. The conflict is portrayed and illustrated beautifully as the artist is able to capture it and put it into the manga-style. It is just a perfect one to read.

Two cousins, one woman. One proposes and marries her, the other one seems to keep his distance until Maddy's husband dies and Leo makes an apparently outrageous proposal: he will help her save the estate from debt if she marries him. Maddy feels like she is being punished, but she does not know that Leo had fallen with her at first sight and had only been too late proposing… will mischief and misunderstandings stand in their way or is it possible to love again? Find out with this thrilling romance.

He proposed after two weeks of dating!

But unsurprisingly the marriage ended in separation. He had cheated on her with her supposed friend and then he died tragically.

And she was left to bring her son up on her own.

And she was left with the most awful sister in law ever.

And with her husband's judgmental cousin.

And a huge debt from her husband's bad money management.

And she refused to sell the property because she wanted to protect her son's inheritance.

Then she fell for the for the judgmental cousin.

And I put my head on my desk and cried 'why, why'? Throw his judgmental ass in the brig! This is how people end up on Jerry Springer!

And then the judgmental cousin started to admire her.

And then the judgmental cousin fell in love with her.

And I yelled 'kick his judgmental ass to the kerb girl'.

But alas she obviously wasn't listening to me.

And then they got married! My mind boggles with these female Harlequin characters! Why are they always so flaky?

Maybe it isn't them? Maybe it is me? It seems to me as if a good 70% of the men in these Harlequin mangas are good looking but they are ass***** and then suddenly they have an epiphany and then fall in love and become angels.

Anyway the artwork was great.

The story was utterly predictable but enjoyable only because everything always works out in the end!
