This book is a bit out of my comfort zone as I usually only read psychological thrillers but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I found the story to be excellent with good characters that I soon got involved with and I can definitely recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Head of Zeus Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Wow! That is the first word that comes to mind. This book had it all. Two people that were best friends for ten years that never realized how in love with each other they were; heartache that changed everything; best friends that were so much fun; and a path they were able to pave back to each other. Ambrie and Henry were two people I wish I had in my life. They would do anything for each other. Even when they were with other people, Aimee Brown’s words made me feel the love that they had for each other. The Last Dance has me crying and laughing and just feeling good at the end. I will be thinking about this one for awhile. I hope Aimee has more books that I can read. Thank you for this advance copy
I adored this book and the two main characters, Ambri & Henry. They have been best friends forever and Henry ends up going out with Rory, Ambri sister however Rory dies. Henry and Ambri try to stumble on but it is too much and too many sad memories so Henry needs to get away from it all including Ambri. Fast forward two years Henry is back with a new girlfriend in tow and he has to finally face all those sad memories.
I really believed in the two main characters and had such a visceral reaction to some of their intense moments which were gut wrenching and so so sad. To me they were real and I was very invested in the outcome of their story.
This is a first from this author from me and I am keen to read more.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a review.
I must confess that I'm not usually a big fan of romance as there seem to be many "eye-rolling" moments for me where I think, "That would never happen in real life!" But I adored Brown's Little Gray Dress so I hoped this one would have the same tone and it does! Henry is still grieving the death of his wife, Rory, whom he married right before she succumbed to cancer. Her sister and his best friend, Ambri fight their feelings for each other; Henry leaves suddenly after one encounter with Ambri and things deteriorate from there. The questions remain: can Henry ever get over Rory's death and find love again? Can Ambri move on with new boyfriend, Noah, or are her feelings for Henry too deep? What could have turned into a cliched novel is anything but! There is lovely tension and banter between characters, many comic, and many somber moments as well. But it all rings believable and true as the couple struggle with a range of emotions that showcase the nature of grief, love, forgiveness, and redemption. A sweet read for sure!
