This book was funny and relatable, which is what you’d expect from Heather if you’ve followed her for a while. Definitely recommend.

I hadn't heard of Heather Land before I read her book. So I'd never watched her videos or seen her Instagram. I went in blind.

While there were moments of genuine laughs and humor, I think there were also moments of preachiness and some not so funny stories. I don't feel like I really connected to Heather in a general sense. I'm not sure if it would have made a difference if I had seen her videos previously or not but overall I wasn't super impressed by her book. I love good comedy and heartfelt stories and I think there was some good attempts at that in these pages but for some reason I had a hard time just getting through the book. I think that she has an audience that she definitely connects to, unfortunately it wasn't me.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I didn't really connect with the humor in this book but may try it as an audio.

Heather is hilarious and never disappoints, even in book form! I really enjoyed this and I think other fans of I Ain't Doin' It will too!

With brutal honesty, you tell the story of your life: the childhood, the family (all good except maybe hunting deer with your dad), church the pregnancy nausea, the joys of motherhood, and the shock and emotional collapse of divorce. But you clawed your way out with the love and support of friends and family and the Lord. People who aren’t religious might feel that this isn’t the book for them. If so, they can enjoy your videos. But it is a vital part of who you are so good for you that you did.

I hope you keep mining life for comic jewels – and yes, Walmart is almost an endless supply – and that you keep entertaining us with your sarcasm and humor. B-

Thank you to Net Galley and Howard Books for an ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I'd never heard of Heather Land prior to seeing this book. I was intrigued by the title and cover. I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed the author's writing style and conversational manner. Some people are funny, but it doesn't translate well in the written word. Heather Land was funny and touching.

Having heard Heather Land speak twice (and yes I paid for tickets both times), I have to say I am a Heather Land fan. Ms. Land is absolutely hilarious, but real (she can also sing well). When I saw her book, I automatically wanted to read it. Her book is definitely her unfiltered thoughts, but honestly how many times do we think some of what she is just brave enough to say. Her videos are entertaining and if you ever need a good laugh watch one. The book is a retelling of some of those stories, but provides the reader with more in depth knowledge to the situation and to her life. It also explains how she went from a normal everyday job to traveling around the country to speak to groups. If you are interested in a funny (but also serious) book to read, this is one for you. I love how she shows through her story how God can do something completely different from what we think we know and want and turn it around for good. I highly recommend this book! It will leave you laughing!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.

I received a copy of "I Ain't Doin' It" from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley! I LOVE Heather Land. I have been a fan of hers for a very long time. I have seen her live once and am seeing her live again in June. I was so excited to see that she had written a book! This book did not disappoint. Of course this book is laugh out loud funny. She writes EXACTLY like she talks and I love it! I also love how she can take serious subjects and add some comedy to them. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes Heather Land!

Thank you to Simon & Schuster/Howard Books and Netgalley for the chance to read I Ain't Doin' It: Unfiltered Thoughts from a Sarcastic Southern Sweetheart by Heather Land.

Humor is 100% subjective and I often have a hard time finding "funny books" humorous, but luckily Heather Land's wit is right up my alley. I tend to enjoy visual humor more, with funny lines accompanying a person's body language - that's what gets me rolling. I enjoy Heather Land's humor for that reason, her eye rolls, accent, and Snapchat filter just adds to the hilarity of her words. I think that is particularly what made this book enjoyable for me. As I read, I was able to imagine how she'd be saying the words on the page.

This was the perfect quick read to add a little cheer to my days. I appreciated the insight into Heather's life and the redemptive story of her accidental rise to fame. I thought it was refreshing how she was able to add humor to her lowest lows while also incorporating her faith into this book. It was the perfect mix of seriousness and humor. Just when things were getting heavy, she would throw an unexpected joke in, catching me off guard and cackling loud enough for my husband to question my sanity. The part in the story about her massage gone awry had me in hysterics. I had to stop and read many of the lines to my husband so he could share in the fun. ;)

I think this will be a great audiobook, especially if it's narrated by Heather herself. It will certainly add to the hilarity and will be a must listen for anyone looking for a little extra laughter in their life.

Pick up your copy on May 7th!

Much like her viral videos, Land brings humor to her life lessons. With laugh out loud moments, all who enjoy her hysterical videos will find her book and equally enjoyable ride. Fun read.

This book was received as a ARC from Howard Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was hysterical to the max and every single page was just more enjoyable than the next right after one another. I was not familiar at first with Heather and what she was known for but as I read this book, I remember a few friends of mine talking about her blog and her youtube videos and as the description said if you are a fan of Jim Gaffigan and Anjelah Johnson you will appreciate this book and I definitely did. I love all of her references to Walmart and the gym and how she confused Kettle Bells and Bear Crawls with Blue Bell and Bear Claws, I was laughing hysterically because I am a fitness junkie and bear claws are one of my favorite baked goods. I just loved this book and I know our patrons and readers all over will love it too.

We will consider adding this title to our Biography collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I couldn't get through this book. I'm not really a big fan of Christian humor. I wasn't aware that this was what this was supposed to be, should have been labeled as such. Also, she used her catch phrase about 10 times in as many pages, it seemed like she was trying too hard. I didn't think it was very funny.

Love Heather Land’s sassy self and her new book! Laughter is the best medicine! She address things that are serious and issues that I hadn’t thought about but keep it light and funny. Great views and hard lessons learned.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this and letting me give an honest review.

Heather Land is in the building to bring us some humor in between the lessons she's learned through her life so far. She's learned to set boundaries and her boundaries are fenced in by the words: "I Ain't Doin' It." Her boundaries include fighting over school supplies, dating, and doing school fundraisers. She talks about her budding career as a comedienne and how that took off, beginning with someone believing in her enough to give her a job so that she could pick herself up from her bootstraps after her divorce.

The most important thing she talks about is how God stood beside her throughout all the upheaval in her life. Heather writes with humor, pathos, and every feel you can imagine. This is a five star book, two thumbs up, and a well-set boundary. I ain't doin' it.

My thanks to Howard books for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is a funny book written by a funny lady. If you like sarcasm that's funny because it's true, this is the book for you. Heather is so open about her past, her flaws and how she's overcoming them as a single mom and mixes it in with her humorous observations about the life she lives. This book led me to her FB page where it all started - her hilarious "I Ain't Doin' It" videos.

A cute book, much like her videos, with life lessons mixed in with humor. It's a not too serious look at some serious issues that can hurt but she makes it better. Laughter is truly one of the great healers!
