Nobody writes sexy, dreamy heroes quote like Cathryn Fox, and Jonah is EVERYTHING! He's sexy, he's sweet, and he;s the perfect daddy! It is zero wonder that Quinn falls for him and starts thinking that maybe this little playing house deal would be perfect as more! This couple has serious chemistry, and I had several laugh out loud moments. The writing is just so good!
My first book by this author & I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the way Jonah stepped up for Daisy & how he was with Quinn.
I haven't read any other books in the series but I easily connected with the characters & didn't feel like I had missed out on anything
I really enjoyed the story - and the steamy love scenes. There is just something so sexy about a guy finding out he is a father and taking it super seriously. Quinn was definitely fierce at the start - but mellowed out by the end. You can easily see why - especially after her mom left her at a young age. This situation had to be a huge trigger for her. As for Jonah - he was definitely a softy even if he is an enforcer in the NHL.
Overall I really liked it - sweet and a lot sexy.
I did get pulled out of the story a bunch of time for some inconsistencies and not well-researched points - but otherwise it was a good read!
I read an ARC for free via netgalley - but the opinions are my own! Hockey romance stories are my catnip!
I enjoyed this book just as much as I have the other books I have read by this author. Jonah is the hot hockey guy who suddenly finds himself in a situation that he never expected. The person he can trust, Quinn. But it may be harder than he thinks for her to help, especially when it involves lots of time together.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley.
The Body Checker is a good best friend's little sister hockey romance. This is the first story I have read from this author and I found it quite enjoyable. Jonah is the heavy hitter in hockey, and nothing comes before it. But his world is about to go upside down. Quinn has a love/hate for Jonah, but when her brother calls her to help Jonah, she's more than willing to help. You could feel their connection. Great story!
Great story!! Was loving it until the end. I took one star away as one part of the ending didn’t make sense to me. I was expecting something from Jonah that I was surprised didn’t happen. Can’t same more without giving part of the story away.
Besides that, this was very enjoyable and I wish we had been given an epilogue into the future!!
4 1/2 STARS!
Steamy, dramatic and downright fun! With book three in the Players On Ice series, Cathryn Fox gives us a confident jock who changes his ways the second a baby is put into his arms. It's super sweet to watch him grow into a caring father right before our eyes, and the connection he grows to have with Quinn is not only sweet, but super spicy. There's not much in the way of hockey in this book, but the rest of the story is spot on! Can't wait for Zander's story.
Pro hockey player Jonah Long is the ultimate party animal. He enjoys every aspect of his fame and fortune, from parties to the different woman warming his bed every night ... but it's all about to change when one of his puck bunnies shows up at his door and thrusts a baby into his arms!
Quinn Reed's brother is Jonah's best friend and teammate. She's crushed on Jonah for years, and can't stand to see him carousing around with all of these other women. She can't believe it when Zander calls to ask her to help him out with the baby, but she loves kids and she's not going to let this poor baby girl suffer just because her new daddy is ignorant! Being under the same roof with Jonah is going to be a temptation though ... quite possibly one she can't resist!
After a night of partying, Jonah opens his front door to a woman he barley remembers and is handed a small bundle. That bundle is a little baby girl that is four months old. Not knowing anything about babies he looks to his best friend for help and he calls his sister. Quinn Reed is Jonah’s best friend little sister and he thinks that she hates him well? Anyway she comes over and begins make over Jonah, and his house for the baby. What she did not expect is to end up living there and then and months being with him falling for him, she has had a crush on him forever. Likewise Jonah has liked her but has stayed away because of the bro code. Now this little 4 month old Daisy has thrown this man for a loop, or really checked him into the boards of life. The author keeps it real with diaper changing, getting up in the middle of the night, fever, which I thought was good for the story. Without giving away any more there are a few twists and I did not see those coming and these only added to this story. The characters are good even the one that is bad adds to the story. Worth the read.
Once you begin to read Body Checker, you will not be able to put it down. I was fully engaged in the storylines, yes plural, the book is so well written. Quinn has hidden her crush on Jonah for years with her snide comments. But when Jonah has an unexpected package dropped at his door, he turns to his best friend Zander and his younger sister Quinn. As Quinn steps up to help Jonah, she crushes a little harder as Jonah turns into a different type of man, one the can be looked up to and admired. As Quinn tries to hide her admiration, Jonah finally relents into the desire he feels for Quinn, these two turn up the heat & steam. Of course it can't be that easy as shocking truths are revealed & unfold will Jonah & Quinn find their HEA & how many other lives will be forever changed? This was a first for my by Cathryn Fox but after reading the tremendous, fantastic book, The Body Checker, I purchased and read books 1 & 2 from the Players on Ice Series and can't wait to see what's next for these smoking hot bad boys of hockey. The Body Checker is a one-click must read, definitely recommend not missing this series!
While I did receive an advanced copy from the author & publisher via NetGalley, I am voluntarily leaving my voluntary opinion with this review.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Body Checker and will definitely be reading the first 2 books in the series, as well as any subsequent books! I'm a huge fan of sports romances (particularly hockey) AND this one also features one of my all time favorite tropes - best friend's sibling/sibling's best friend, so while I've read and enjoyed Cathryn Fox before, I got way more than what I was expecting in this book. It captured my attention from the very beginning and did not let up - I read The Body Checker in one sitting and my only complaint is that I wanted more! Both Jonah and Quinn are very likable characters, their mutual attraction has been previously established (unbeknownst to them), their chemistry is dynamic (no slow burn here), and their interaction when it comes to Daisy is absolutely adorable. The pacing of the book is perfect and the set up for the next book sets the perfect level of anticipation. I really can't wait to catch up on the rest of the series and for Zander's book! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
I am Jonah Long hockey player, player being the key word on the rink and in life, so when a puck bunny shows up with a baby I am at a loss. In comes my best friend who calls his sister Quinn to help. Lo and behold childhood crushes do go into adulthood but at what cost, and what happens when things aren't as they seem? You are going to have to read the book to find out.
I read this book in one day it sucked me in.
** I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review**
First off I need to say why has Cathryn Fox not crossed my radar before now because I loved The Body Checker it was everything I love in a sports romance. This book has all the feels you want from a great read, you will smile, you will cry and you will have some laugh out loud moments as the Body Checker learns how this cope with a small baby....
Jonah is living life to the full, he earns a living playing a game he loves and he has women falling at his feet what he didn’t expect is to be handed a baby!! He needs help and that comes from Quinn his best friend and teammates baby sister who happens to be a daycare teacher. Quinn moves in to teach Jonah how to raise a small baby but living under the same roof brings feelings and emotions they have both been trying to hide to the surface...........
This book with make you smile but it will also tug at your heartstrings, it has characters you will love and a twist you never saw coming. I need to read the rest if this series as soon as time permits.
Jonah and Quinn’s story was absolutely wonderful. One of my favorite tropes done to near perfection! I’d definitely recommend this one!
I loved this book, it had two of my favourite things: Brothers little sister romance and sports. Plus the added bonus, it’s by one of my all time favourite authors out there! What more could a girl want. This series has had me hooked from the very start and each book keeps getting better and better. Really want to get my hands on the next book, it’s killing me to have to wait lol. Absolutely recommend
Sexual tension overflows as Quinn and Jonah navigate the rapids that seem to represent Jonah’s new reality in this quick moving romance. This is my first read by author Cathryn Fox and she delivers an entertaining ‘surprise baby’ romance involving an NHL hockey player.
Surprise! This story has a more than one big surprise. Surprise #1 was the baby delivered to the hung-over hockey player, “Body Checker” Jonah. The mom a well known ‘puck bunny’ had been with several players on the team. She handed the baby to Jonah and walked away. Jonah barely remembered being with her. He doesn’t know a thing, not a thing, about babies, so he reaches out to his longtime best friend Zander. Zander, in turn, calls his sister Quinn, a daycare provider. Quinn soon comes to the rescue of baby Daisy and clueless dad Jonah.
This story could also be called “in love with my brother’s best friend” because Quinn had a crush on Jonah since childhood. She didn’t see herself as any competition for all the beautiful women surrounding the hockey players. Adding insult to injury, Jonah treats her as one of the guys.
Quinn has her hands full with Jonah. She has a few surprises coming her way as well.
Jonah seems like a good guy, who seems to be ripe to be used. I would call him Mr. Oblivious except he isn’t as blind as he seems. He may be the ‘Body Checker’, an enforcer on the ice but he kind of goes with the flow otherwise. His ‘friends’ seem to take advantage of him in these out-of-control parties. He recognizes that the women are after him for money and fame. Even when faced with what is clearly a significant legal problem, he hesitates much too long before seeking the advice of an attorney.
Low angst and a sensuality rating of 4++, this is a perfect read for the beach, the recliner by the fireplace or any relaxing location.
I have read this author before and was looking forward to reading this, it was interesting from the start and the characters were great.
I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Jonah is a enforcer on the NHL and his life is thrown in turmoil one morning when he awakes with a hangover and is presented with a little human Daisy he is told she is his daughter. What is he supposed to do with a four month old his team mates rally around and Zander calls in his little sister Quinn to help. Only problem is Quinn is the one woman that Jonah could give up his bachelor ways for and now she is in his life all the time. As these two care for a four month old and all that it entails they grow closer to one another Can he resist Quinn what about the bro code with Zander when will they realise what everybody else knows that they are meant for one another
This was a great fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed I would recommend it
I was hooked at hockey. Cliché I know but I like to see how each author tells the story of a demanding career that has the guy traveling more than he is home. And this one actually told a believable story in more than one way. Puck bunnies wanting a guy for his money is not exclusive to this sport or any sport. This story had a few twists that surprised me and will you as well.
Jonah Long never planned to be a father and is thrust into the roll when a woman appears on his doorstep with a four month old child and leaves. Luckily for him (it’s fiction so anything is possible) his best friend in hockey has a sister, Quinn, that he knows who works for a daycare and can come to his rescue.
In a somewhat comical way, they make it work. And chemistry just jumps right in there and takes over. That part was a bit farfetched because a baby never sleeps all night when you want them to but it’s still a good story.
The HEA comes with a few things left hanging.
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for this review.
Oh how I love it when this author writes longer books! I really loved The Body Checker, Quinn and Jonah’s story was filled with hot steamy scenes that melts everything you come into contact with. Loved the storyline, totally worked for me, great writing, and you wanted to wring Shari’s neck with what she did. The time Quinn and Jonah had with Daisy was so heartwarming, you just fell in love with this little “family”, but their insecurities definitely got in the way. Not sure I liked how things turned out in the long run with Zander, but it’s all about the happy endings. Would have loved an Epilogue with how these two handled their destiny. Hoping there will be a follow up with Zander’s story??? Well worth the read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Daisy was a surprise!
Hockey player Jonah Long and daycare worker Quinn Reed have a long history since she is the little sister of his friend but when a former fling drops off a baby named Daisy telling him he’s a father and then leaves Daisy. Jonah has never been around kids or babies so his best friend called his sister, Quinn to help him.
Jonah having no experience with babies’ leads to many chaotic scenes with Daisy but he’s been in love forever but he doesn’t let her know. Quinn has lots of experience with kids but tells everyone she doesn’t want any of her own but the reader slowly finds out why she feels that way. Quinn has always loved Jonah since she was a teenager but she felt that she wasn’t good enough since he was a hockey star.
Jonah and Quinn is a perfect couple they complement each other with Jonah being protective of Quinn and Quinn standing up for Jonah with Daisy’s mother. You need to read the book to see the whole picture of Jonah and Quinn. Plus the twist about Daisy is very good!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
