I absolutely adored this book! The art was phenomenal (I wanted to print half of it and frame it on my walls!)

And the written part was so interesting. It was neat reading about the different cultures and beliefs.

I would highly recommend this book as both a coffee table book but also maybe as a baby shower gift, tucked into a gift basket. Perhaps it could be given as a gift to be read in the hospital during the 2 days after giving birth.

Great job on this one!

Cute little book for moms and all who love them! Reading a digital copy made it a little challenging to fully appreciate the beauty and illustrations of this book.

This book would be the perfect book to give as a gift to any mother or mother to be. The artwork is adorable and I loved learning about the different traditions surrounding pregnancy and motherhood around the world.

This would definitely make for a perfect baby shower present. It’s funny, charming and adorable. It celebrates the magic of motherhood and pregnancy. I loved the cheerful illustrations.

Some things I didn’t really care for: it has a tendency to be almost condescending instead of humurous. I felt the perspective was a bit too Western, and the stories from different countries sounded more like just curiosities than cultural traditions to be appreciated.

I’m still giving this a 3⭐️ rating because I feel it was written with good intentions. I can also see how an expectant mother can be greatly comforted by this.

This is a fun little illustrated book with facts about pregnancy and motherhood. It would make a cute baby shower gift.

1) This book is almost impossible to read in this protected PDF format. The quality is so poor that I had to zoom in very far and navigating the pages (with so much of the text being spread over both pages instead of contained to one) made this one of the most unpleasant eARC experiences of my life.

2) This book is mis-marketed. This is not a book about motherhood, it's a book about pregnancy. Those are not inherently the same.

3) This book is incredibly cishet-centered with no concept whatsoever of addressing queer women, trans women, etc. I hope the authors do better next time.

This pretty book would be a great gift for a soon-to-be mother. It is filled with little bits of folklore and wisdom from around the world, sort of an interesting collection of facts that might offer a bit of levity as a mother awaits her own child's birth. Whimsical artwork spills throughout the book, making it a lovely thing to look at.

Little Gems is an interesting book on pregnancy and motherhood from all around the world. The graphical work is critical to make it really interesting and dynamic during the reading.

This would make an adorable shower gift for a expectant family. The text is awfully amusing, and a bit shocking with some of the tidbits shared, like in the mid 20th Century when folks were instructed to open cabinets in the kitchen to help "open" the mother during labor.
