I was honestly disappointed in this book. The plot was strange and convoluted. The main character, Louisa, was unlikable and unrelatable. I just couldn't get into the book and found myself skimming through parts. How can a mother forget to feed her newborn and constant be setting him down to investigate things? The ending? Seemed messily thrown together.

*I would like to the author/publisher/Netgalley for the opportunity to read to this book in exchange for a fair and honest review*

Who is telling the truth, and who isn’t? Does the main character really have memory loss, or is she just exhausted? And what about the husband and supposed BFF? Lots of questions keep you reading the book, and the ending doesn’t disappoint!

What a great mystery/thriller! The Missing Wife is a story of lies, double-dealing, buried secrets and deception. The story was put together well with convincing dialogue and a captivating mystery. I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to friends. My thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I really enjoyed this twisty little thriller, it had just enough of “is it him or her” vibe to it to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Louisa is about to turn 40 and is a brand new mother, her little Noah was an unexpected surprise but she loves him fiercely, even though she is completely exhausted.

Louisa seems to have forgotten what it was like to be a new mother, considering her daughter is now a teenager, and all of the sleep deprivation seems to be taking a toll on her, she is forgetting things and huge parts of her day seem to go by without her even noticing.

It gets to the point where she even starts to forget to feed the baby!

Her best friend Tiff thinks she needs a bit of a pick-me-up, and arranges a surprise 40th birthday party for Louisa, because she doesn’t speak much about her past Tiff is at a bit of a loss on who to invite, so she goes to the place where all your friends are, Facebook, and promptly invites all of her old school friends.

And who should turn up out of the woodwork but Oliver, Louisa’s old boyfriend and his new wife! He is super happy to see Louisa, until he turns up at her house the next day to tell her that his wife is missing!

With twists and turns at every corner, you will be wondering who is telling the truth, and what secrets they are hiding

This mysterious novel had me hooked from the start as I was anxious for not only the main character Louisa but also for the safety of her new-born Noah.

Louisa is a sleep deprived new mum to Noah, so when she is surprised with a 40th birthday party arranged by her husband Brian and best friend Tiff she is not exactly thrilled. When Louisa arrives at the party she is shocked at how many people are there. In fact Tiff has gone into her Facebook account and invited everyone on her friends list and also accepted a friend request from an ex. Louisa is alarmed when she spots her ex Oliver, a guy she dated for a couple of years during her university days, especially as he had dumped her expectantly.

Louisa struggles with her past as she has so many blanks that she has no recollection of. Louisa gets totally drunk at the party so when it appears that Oliver’s wife Melissa goes missing after the party and no one can even remember her being there Louisa is confronted with even more confusing thoughts and memories to decipher and the mystery really heats up.

My thanks to Net Galley for the ARC digital copy in return for my honest thoughts on The Missing Wife.

This was a complicated story about Louisa. She was an older mother after having her daughter when she was younger she then had another baby who never stopped screaming and gave her sleepless nights.
Her husband and best friend Tiff decided to give her a surprise fortieth birthday party. Invited was friends she had not seen for many years including a ex boyfriend Oliver.
Her party was a nightmare and after meeting Oliver again he started pestering her and told her what she had done many years ago and what Oliver had done for her in covering up what she had done.

Louisa started having dreams and then tried to uncover the secret Oliver had told her.
It was not a bad story and finished it to find out what had happened, but it was dragged out a lot. We

This book is so deserving of 5 stars because not only was it written so well, but the characters also came into a life of their own. I could feel Louisa's sense of paranoia and the her frustration at the memory loss. The author did a wonderfully eerie job at bringing these people to life. I would really like a character and then really hate them. Everyone was a suspect here.
The plot was really well constructed and the chapter organized by how many days past the party were a huge help to follow along.
Lots of twists and an ending that deserves a standing ovation.
Creepy, paranoia at its best!
Thank you #NetGalley, the author and the publisher for my free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Publishing review on Goodreads as well.

A top notch thriller; I was captivated from the start. Devoured in two sittings! Everything went on hold until I finished. High tension from start to heart-stopping finish - Sam Carrington has done it again!

2-2.5*
All I can say is "poor Brian and good for the brain, which is helping us in a stressful situation".
This is a mystery book with a strange plot. Did not like Louisa at all, how can you, as a new mom, forget to feed your son? With all the sleep deprivation, I am telling you, you can't. And the finish.... is not I wanted from Louisa.
Thank you Netgalley for this experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, right up to the final pages when it lost me a bit. The suspense was building and I was wondering where it was going but it sort of petered out a little and although I still give it a pick there were a few loose ends which I thought should have been attended to. I have read quite a few stories lately with the lead characters having chunks of time missing so perhaps it didn’t compare as well as others for me.

Great book, it was impossible to put it down. The plot has taken unexpected twist when Oliver came to Louise's life. Brian, Tiff, Melissa, Louise- who is telling the truth , who is hiding something? Fantastic read!

The Missing Wife by Sam Carrington started with an intriguing premise. Louisa shows up to her surprise fortieth birthday party. She looks around to see a room full of her Facebook friends. Only problem is these are her "friends" that she doesn't keep in touch with and haven't talked to in years. They are people she would not have invited to the party herself, and she is certainly confused as to how these people ended up in this room. Specifically, she cannot believe her ex-boyfriend Oliver is there. Following the party, the plot thickens as Oliver's wife has gone missing. Louisa is pulled back into Oliver's life and the investigation as police try to find his wife. So, here's the deal y'all. This is a thriller that involves a missing woman. At this point, this is a pretty standard genre, and you know what you get when you read a book like this. You get some unexpected twists - several of them usually, and the main character will be in some kind of trouble at some point. That's what this was, and that's not a bad thing, rather it just is what it is. For me, I really liked the initial premise. I could imagine showing up at that party and the emotions it would invoke. The rest of the story was good, and it keep me captivated as books like this do. There are others in this realm that I have enjoyed more, but this is still a decent thriller to check out. Thanks to NetGalley for the early preview at this June 2019 release.

Missing Wife

The start of this story is intriguing, though the dialogue can be stilted, as if it’s moving the plot forward but sounds unnatural. We start to get to know Louisa, but she immediately has memory gaps, which gives us a patchy picture of us. On one hand, I enjoyed the less-than straightforward telling at the beginning, but as the story sometimes leapt forward without explanation, I wondered if it was unintentional flaws in the timelines. I got a bit bogged down in all of Louisa’s forgetting, and got impatient for the story to move forward. It actually got to be too much — how “out of it” Lou was or seemed— all because of baby brain? This vein of the story was starting to become unrealistic, especially when her daughter joins in the criticism. I started to think it was purely for the set-up, to make Louisa look guilty, when the reader wasn’t buying that all along. I actually started to dislike Louisa, who started to appear incompetent in every aspect in life; certainly not someone I’d like to spend any time around. And you know what happens when you dislike the supposed main sympathetic character?...you care less and less what’s happening to them. Not to mention her atrocious parenting; Lou-Lou spends more time obsessing over her crappy adult relationships and feeling “tired” than she does tending to her children; another characteristic that makes her quite unlikable. Then actual murder takes place and Lou comes into some important information and for some reason decides NOT to go to the police, and this is when is decided NOT to care what else happened; sorry! Thanks to NetGalley for my advance reading copy.

I need to stop reading thrillers before bed. I had some very wonky dreams after this one! Louisa doesn’t remember much from her past and, after the awful party her best friend threw her, her lapses in memory only get worse. Often times throughout the book I doubted what was real and what was fake. Add in the mystery of Melissa (Oliver’s wife) gone missing, this book is sure to make you scratch your head. .

I really enjoyed the slow unraveling of Louisa’s past. The author doesn’t give anything away until it is absolutely necessary. This allowed for several moments that caught me off guard and genuinely surprised me. I felt like the resolution in this book was solid. And the last revelation left me shocked. .

The only criticism I have is the lack of dialogue. I have a tendency to skip to dialogue when reading and I felt there wasn’t enough. I know that’s a personal preference and should in no way deter you from reading this

I'm afraid I spent the whole time I read this book just thinking how implausible the whole thing was.
Nothing rang true.
I was also tired of hearing how sleep deprived our main character was....
Not my cup of tea.

This book was definitely fast-paced and had an overall feeling of the bizarre.

Louisa has a new baby and is exhausted and ready for some down time when her friend Tiff arranges some time away. However, Louisa is surprised to find a birthday party planned for her with friends from her past invited. A woman is missing by the end of the party and Louisa struggles with her sleep-deprived memory to remember what she saw and what she thinks she saw.

There are definitely a lot of twists and turns in the story. There was a decent amount of suspense in the book and the ending was fairly surprising.

What a great mystery! Lots of twists and turns and red herrings with a totally unreliable narrator. But that unreliability is at the core of this mystery. Well crafted with believable dialogue and a compelling mystery. I could not put this down and now cannot wait to read this writers next book! I predict this will be this summers favorite beach read. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

I enjoyed reading this book. It had a good story to it. I liked the variety of characters in it. It is my first book read by this author. I hope to read more books by this author.

A kind thank you to the author for an advanced copy for an honest review.

Twist after twist after twist, this book delivers!

Louise, turning forty with a new baby has enough on her plate. Sleep is what she is lacking at this time and a surprise birthday is not what she needs. Her best friend has went behind her back, invited everyone she can think of for her dear friend's 40th birthday. Drinks start flowing and her memories come seeping back. Is it new 'baby brain'? Hallucinations? Or memories she has blocked out?

This book grabs you in and doesn't let go. Gripped me from the beginning and read right through. Just when you think you know or have some idea how this will play out, hold on because it will be nothing you can imagine!

I was so looking forward to this book, but unfortunately it fell flat. The premise was interesting but I thought the ending was completely far-fetched. I totally sympathised with Louisa and her sleep deprivation, but the story repeatedly mentioned how she wasn’t sure if she had fed her baby, her confusion and the periods of missing time, and I found myself feeling increasingly concerned for her baby. She is also an unreliable narrator, which I know was part of the story, but I don’t feel like it was totally resolved.
