This was such a cute book but it also legged at times. I think it would have been more enjoyed at the beach. The parts that legged would literally put me to sleep while reading, but the other parts were so good.
This was a cute, enjoyable read. I loved the premise of missed connections and loved Nadia and Daniel. I did not love how long it took for them to finally meet - it just didn't seem realistic to me that it would take that long. Overall I loved the story but didn't really love the execution. This was a quick read and since I loved the main characters I would read it again!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this free ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Do you believe there is one true love for everyone? If you do this book is for you. A story of near misses, second chances, and realising, sometimes, what you want was right in front of you all along. I adored this novel and can’t wait to read more by Laura Jane Williams.
This book was a fun, quick, and cute read; parts of it made me smile or laugh out loud. The story was sweet, but I felt let down by the execution. I found it longer than necessary to the point I got rather frustrated. Nadia and Daniel both seem like decent people, so it wasn't a matter of being annoyed by them so much as the writing. I felt there were often way too many details — a lot more telling than showing. I was engaged by the characters all the same, and the ending certainly charmed me! The whole thing was light and enjoyable, most of the attempts at depth or substance fell a little flat for me, regrettably. I would've liked to see more of Nadia at her job. The epilogue didn't feel hastily tacked on (as epilogues sometimes do), but the storytelling mechanism used felt a little bizarre to me.
The book wasn't a waste of time, and I don't regret reading it. The story was cute, and it was fun to experience London through the author's many references to the city.
I received a digital ARC of this book (with thanks!) from Net Galley/Avon Books UK in exchange for an honest review.
Our Stop is a story about near misses and fate. Daniel noticed Nadia during his train ride to work on multiple occasions and he knew that they would be a perfect match after overhearing a conversation she had with a co-worker. Trying to strike up a conversation with this beautiful woman didn’t seem like the best option given how stand-offish London commuters can be. Instead, Daniel decides to take a chance and send her a message through the Missed Connections section of the paper.
I loved the concept of this story - the writing was fun and entertaining and I adored Nadia and Daniel. However, the number of missed connections made the story feel unbelievable for me. Also, the time it took for Nadia and Daniel to actually speak so that you could see the sparks fly felt slow. Once they did meet and connected I loved the two characters together so much. They had chemistry and I just wanted more of those interactions.
While the story wasn’t everything I had hoped, there were still many things I enjoyed about this book. I would definitely read another story from this author.
Absolutely fabulous! I loved the characters of Daniel and Nadia, and the unfolding attraction that went on throughout the book. Excellent and definitely recommend
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. At first, it was slow for me. It gradually got better and by 40% of the way through I could not put it down! Both characters were endearing and I was brought to tears when they finally got together. A light, quick read. Excited for more by this author! Thanks for the opportunity to read!
What a sweet and heartwarming tale! Every page was met with a smile as I eagerly waited for their next encounter. Loved it.
Honest, refreshing, brave, progressive, insightful, warm, uplifting and, above all, inspirational. A book that has genuinely had a positive impact on my life. LJW is extraordinary.! A must-read.
The moment I finished I was only a breath away from running to my nearest tube station and riding the trains until a man fell in love with m and declared it in the Metro. So good. A classic romance with a strong inclusion of LGBT+ characters which I loved.
Heartwarming characters and cute story, but the book seemed a little slow. I enjoyed the premise and couldn't stop reading, but found myself wanting to just skim over full paragraphs that seemed unnecessary to the plot or characters. I do look forward to more books by this author.
This was a good debut novel from Laura Jane Williams. Her writing was really strong and I found Nadia and Daniel to be likable characters. I really loved the first third of this book but I felt the will they- won’t they went on too long and some of the near misses became frustrating and unbelievable. That being said, there were some really funny and cute moments and I will definitely read more of this authors work.
I just... did not enjoy this book. I went into it thinking it would be light hearted chick lit with a smart side, which is one of my favorite genres (see: Marian Keyes, Helen Fielding, Jojo Moyes, Jenny Colgan), and it did try to be that, but for me it totally missed the mark. First of all, it completely dragged. Almost the entire storyline is made up of a series of increasingly incredible near misses that frankly just start to get boring after awhile. Second, there’s this undercurrent of... mysticism? Or something? Like the fascia release and the way they all sense that this or that is meant to be, and especially the way all her friends just magically know that he’s her soulmate for life? It’s very weird. The whole thing just feels... contrived. I couldn’t get into it and I didn’t feel invested in the characters or the outcome. Also, they finally do get together and then it’s straight on fade to black after one kiss and like, really? That’s all we get? I didn’t need full on smut but the rest of the relationships in the book were portrayed more sexually than this one. Also, I saw the Emma and Gaby twist coming almost from the beginning of the book. This one just did not hold my attention and I struggled to get through it. I did appreciate the author’s attempts at feminism, though.
OUR STOP absolutely blew me away! More gripping than any thriller, I was desperately turning pages to find out when Daniel and Nadia would meet. Devastatingly good storytelling.
A truly lovely read a book of romance of missed chances of love,Our Stop kept me smiling as I hoped wished this would end in true love.Romance at its best,#netgalley #avonbooks uk
I absolutely loved this debut novel from Laura Jane Williams. The characters were more 3D and realistic than we're used to getting in rom com novels, and I was rooting for them all right the way through. The plot was pacy enough to keep me hooked, and there was just the right level of romance to have me swooning without feeling sick. This is going to be the book everybody is reading this summer!
This is a cute, but predictable story of a missed love connection. Told from the viewpoints of Nadia and Daniel. Was a easy read, perfect for the beach. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I don't often read books in this genre, but I did enjoy 'Our Stop' - Nadia and Daniel were likeable characters and I really rooted for their relationship; Williams wrote the dual narrative well. However, I did find the book a bit slow going and frustrating at times, although maybe that was just my impatience. It was predictable in places, but I don't think that detracted from the story. An easy, light, enjoyable read, with some words of wisdom on one page which really stood out to me.
Sort but didn’t enjoy this one
Started off really well. It then I thought lost the trail a little
There didn’t really seem much to go on
Was disappointed as I wanted to enjoy it
This novel reads with a huge smile on one's face; contemporary, utterly enjoyable and engrossing, "Our Stop" takes the "will-they-won't-they" trope on a whole other level!
