This was a good read; well-written although slightly predictable at times. It dragged a little at points. Would recommend.

This is the first book I have read by Laura Jane Williams and I was not disappointed. It was a lovely light hearted rom com and perfect to read in lockdown.
**3.5 Stars**
The premise is cute and it has a very modern, dare I say "millenial" feel to it. The characterization is great as you really get to know Nadia and Daniel. While reading this I kept thinking of the movie "Til There Was You" which came out in 1997. I love that movie so it was pretty much a given that I would like this. With that said, the one major flaw is that this is too long and at times feels very slow. I appreciate the author's dedication to the premise, but at some point I felt like they were being kept apart for the story's sake as opposed to it making sense. Because their near misses-went on so long, the payoff was good, but my interest had waned by that point.
Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Daniel and Nadia catch the same train every morning. Well, except when Nadia is late. One morning Nadia spots a post in the paper, clearly about her, asking if she would like to go out for a drink. The trouble is, Nadia and Daniel have to try to catch each other first.
This is such a feel good book, yet somehow you are completely on the edge of your seat, hoping that finally Nadia and Daniel will get together.
Funny, and a little bit flirty, Our Stop tells a story that might sometimes have you so frustrated that you want to tear your hair out, but it is as lovely as it is hilarious.
Perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, this is very much a slow burn romance that is lighthearted and sweet, and a great read,
I was excited to finally pick up my copy of ‘Pur Stop’ as I’ve heard so many amazing things. ‘Our Stop’ is very much a “will they won’t they” kind of rom com story. Nadia and Daniel get on the same tube, well most of the time. Daniel spots Nadia and really wants to get to know her and the only way he knows how is to write an advert in the newspaper under the Missed Connections section. By chance she spots this and writes back to him, they have a bit of a conversation then agree to meet up in person. Of course this isn’t so straightforward so a sequence of events make it so they don’t quite get to meet.
I found myself willing the pair to finally meet so when they were close I found I was frustrated when it didn’t happen. Kind of just wanted to bang their heads together! Their friends are all urging for this date to happen too. ‘Our Stop’ is a beautiful and poignant story about taking chances on true love ❤️
Laura’s writing is captivating and I just couldn’t put this beautiful story down, finishing most of it in one sitting. In parts I was laughing, in others wanting to shout at these characters and finally finding it refreshing that Laura has incorporated themes such as grief with such sensitivity. I can’t wait to read Laura’s next book soon! I give ‘Our Stop’ 5*/5* 😊
Thank you to Avon Books for an advanced copy of this book via Netgalley.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read and review this title. I will review this title at a different date.
I love Laura Jane William’s voice. She has a witty and realistic view of the world, and the setting of London and the Tube made me feel especially nostalgic. I can’t wait to read her next book!
Loved this book! Set in London, how small is a city really? How many times have we walked past our soulmate without knowing it? Nadia and Daniel keep missing eachother, will they ever find eachother'?
Unfortunately I had to DNF this one. I think it was a case of me not being in the right mood for this book. I liked Nadia's character but just couldn't get into Daniel's character. He was a little creepy for me - I just wanted him to go and actually talk to Nadia rather than just watching her from a distance. I did like the writing though - I thought it was witty and fun and had some really great pop culture references scattered throughout.
This was such a fun read - I've always found myself wondering about the Missed Connections section of the daily papers so seeing it explored so brilliantly in this book was great. I thought it was funny and cute, and I really got invested in Nadia and Daniel's story.
I enjoyed this one and it’s humor, but it was a little too over-the-top at times. The male and female main characters actually don’t even meet until over 2/3 of the way into the book, instead having a series of neat-misses throughout the story. Certainly worthy if you’re looking for a comedic escape.
A good read, thank you for allowing me to read it! I did like this book, it was fun, but it took a while for me to get into it! There were a few parts of the book that felt like the author was trying to make a statement, which is fine but not for everyone. The characters were good! Once it got going, I thought it was a fun romance!
loved this book - would 100% recommend and am looking forward to reading what this author writes next!
Our Stop is a book interlaced with the ever-romantic notion of serendipity. The idea that you're meant to meet someone and it's only a matter of timing before things click and it works out. Multiple missed opportunities and eventually a meet-cute story to tell for all time.
This is the first book of this author I have read but it more defiantly will not be the last! The story is of Nadia, who gets the train every morning at 7:30am. That is unless she oversleeps, then she spills coffee on herself and is in a mad dash. Daniel also gets the train every morning at 7:30am without fail. Daniel is together and makes sure his day does not fail.
One morning there is a note in the newspaper to a girl who has coffee down her dress. Could this be about Nadia? The whole of the book tells us the story of the newspaper letters sent back and forth – not ever knowing if the right people are getting the notes or responding. It also shows the disasters Nadia gets herself into and how close Dan & Nadia are to meeting but don’t. The whole of the nation is hooked by the letters in the papers and the will they meet/ wont they.
The story is fabulously told by the author, it is a modern-day love story with so much humour you can't help but laugh out loud. It is so much more than just a rom com; it gives hope to dreamers. It’s a beautiful book that gives us so much more than we knew we wanted.
I was intrigued by the premise of this book as a Londoner who travels on the tube and enjoys reading the Missed Connections section of the Metro, and once I finished I was left feeling completely bedazzled and charmed by this warm, witty debut novel.
This book follows two protagonists. First we have Nadia, a 29-year old who works with Artificial Intelligence, who takes the 7.30 Northern line to Waterloo. Nadia has just gotten over a bad breakup with a toxic man who shattered her self-esteem. She is just getting her together, moving forward, when on the train one morning she gets a message from her friend: there is a missed connection post in the newspaper and she is certain it's for Nadia. Encouraged by her friends Nadia writes back...
Daniel, a 30-year old, consultant engineer has gotten a 6-month contract near London Bridge. Daniel is still dealing with the death of his father, which has made him realise that life is too short and he's ready to fall in love and settle down. Then one afternoon in Borough Market he overhears a woman talking with a colleague and is utterly captivated by her. He doesn't see her again until he spots her on the Northern Line at 7.30am one morning. Daniel takes his chances and posts a Missed Connection message for her. She replies back and thus begins an adorable back-and-forth between the two and a series of near misses. In a big city like London will the two finally meet?...
I highly enjoyed this one. The characters were well-developed and real, I found myself emotionally invested in their story. Both characters have flaws, yet are honest and sweet. I also loved the setting of London, and the familiar locations. This book made me fall in love with London once again as well as being held captive to Nadia and Daniel's story. The prose is crisp and pacy. There were plenty of LOL-moments, too, but I admired how the book never veered into silly OTT comedy, instead it was grounded in reality and subtle without being mushy. I loved this one, and will eagerly await for what Laura Jane Williams does next. If you want something life-affirming, engaging and warm I highly recommend this. 5/5
A sweet romance, bit predictable and not the most original idea in the world but well executed and an easy read.
I love this type of romace- the maybe, maybe not with a happy ending. This was exactly what I needed in my life right now. It felt like it was written for me, down to the Romeo + Juliet (my face movie ever) cinema. Both main characters were lovely, though their friends kind of sucked. It was an awesome read that I will definitely be recommending.
I liked the story outline, but at times I didn't feel that some of the more crude language and descriptions added anything, and would make me wary of buying this as a present
Thank you for the early copy!
I’m a super picky romance reader and sadly I did not connect with this one.
