Loved the premise of this book and knew it would be one I’d really enjoy reading. I also listened to the audiobook at the same time (switching formats, depending on what I was doing) and it didn’t disappoint. A fun, quirky read and I’ll be looking out for more books by Laura Jane Williams.
I liked the sound of this book, cute, modern romance but it was too sweet and shallow for me and I could not get beyond a few chapters before giving up.
Cute romance, believable main and secondary characters. Rooted for the two MCs from the first moment.
Couldn’t finish this. I liked the sound of it from the description but this was very cheesy and formulaic, and not engagingly written enough for me to get past that
The concept of this book was really cute. Two daily commuters. One newspaper column called ‘Missed connections’. A post directed to ‘the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress’ and what ensued was a whole lot of cuteness.
Truly a cute concept (how many times can I say cute… it was cute). That’s simply the best description.
I enjoyed the alternating viewpoint of Nadia and Daniel. And I enjoyed the sub plots with Nadia’s best friends.
Great romance! At first the story did come off a little stalker-ish but once I was able to overlook that it wasn't too bad. Towards the middle of the novel, however, it did feel that the story did drag on more than I thought necessary. I could have done without the second lead male character and that story arc. It did seem credible but at the same time, I could do without it. Not the best romance novel I have read this year but definitely not the worst.
I started reading this book, but did not finish it. I read a few chapters but was not interested in continuing with the story.
Although One Stop takes a while to get going, in my opinion, it’s a cute story and you can’t help but get invested in the characters and frustrated as life throws endless obstacles in their way. If you’re a fan of easy to read, entertaining chicklit, you’ll definitely like this book.
A lost connections love story in a modern day setting. Some of the pop culture references will date it to a very specific period in time, but this isn't a bad thing.
It's a lovely story, with lovely characters, who do lovely things. There's almost no drama, making it a nice easy read. Sometimes romance can to too cringe, too painful to read, making it a chore. Our Stop is pleasant and funny, and you wish you had friends like the characters in this book.
If you follow LJW on social, or have read any of her other books, you know she can tell a story - nothing to worry about there. You also will know how hard she worked to write this, right up to the wire. She has produced a charming love story, which I very much hope there is a sequel to.
So I have been on a contemporary binge lately and this did not disappoint. I really like the story and the main characters. I do think some things were a little rushed and others not enough. My only real problem with the book was the pacing and some of the situations and how they were handled.
Wonderfully written and a real joy to read. A thoroughly modern romance perfect for the 21st century.
This was a fun read for a holiday and I enjoyed the premise, however I felt like it could have had a stronger edit, as it seemed to go on longer than needed. I also struggled a bit with the characters, it just all felt a little to unrealistic for what I was hoping for but fun none the less.
People were absolutely raving about this book all over social media, and since I’m a sucker for a good romcom naturally I needed to read and review it for all of you. Sadly, I didn’t love the book as most people seem to.
My issue with this book really boils down to one simple thing: it’s too long. Every time they came close to meeting in person, but didn’t for the smallest reason, my frustration grew. In my opinion, it takes too long for them to meet. There are too many close calls, when it would’ve been far more rewarding if they met after a few missed connections and then began to build their relationship on the page. My interest in them meeting was the only thing that kept me reading, because I felt that once they met the story would be worth it.
But every time they began to doubt whether they would meet, and every time they JUST missed each other, a little bit of my soul shriveled up. There’s a certain point where tension turns to frustration because the story’s main premise is carried on too long.
Don’t get me wrong, the story has its cute moments. I wanted Nadia and Daniel to meet. Their conversations through the newspaper were sweet. My issue is that there just wasn’t enough in the story to really grip me.
Our Stop was raved about, so my opinion of the book is probably an unpopular one. I love romcoms, but this one had a flimsy plot with very little pay off. If you’re looking for a cute romance to read on a cold fall day, this probably isn’t the best choice.
A cute read which was amusing and fairly enjoyable overall. It took me a little while to really get into it and felt the pace was really slow, I like to hit the ground running a little bit I guess.
Very modern and I could see why it may appeal to a younger audience.
Absolutely loved this! The story was so engaging and the female characters were relatable and funny and well rounded. Daniel was kind, considerate and intelligent - surely no such man exists lol. Loved the concept and the way the pair kept missing one another. Will definitely read more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley, Avon and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The train, the stranger and the passenger, this concept makes me believe in serendipity.
And that newspaper column, omg!!! You're a bomb, Daniel! I love it!
It took a lot of miss, almost meet-up and connections before they finally meet up! I was actually heartbroken when Nadia entered in a relationship because she thought that Daniel didn't want to meet her.
I had a huge smile when their friends helped Daniel finally meeting Nadia!
Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for the ARC!
I loved this story and was desperate to see how it ended. I liked the old school newspaper letters as a way of communicating. Some toe-curly moments where they were so close to meeting though which frustrated me a little
Overly long, contrived and very reminiscent of a 90s rom com. A forgettable beach read, not one for the ages.
I loved the premise that's why I requested the arc and the book did not disappoint. It was the perfect romcom, I can't wait to read more from the author.
Very enjoyable read about missed connections, missed opportunities, romance and meeting on the tube. I liked that the characters went against some rom-com stereotypes with a feminist twist while still following the tropes of the gennre.
