A good story, but I found the obvious company names like 'rainforest' a little jarring, and it took me out of the reading experience a bit. I found it difficult to engage with. I love the genre and this is just my personal thoughts, I wish the book and the author well but this one just wasn't for me.

Swoony and light. This book had so much "will they won't they" that I almost thought they wouldn't. Nadia and Daniel take the 7:30 train but they keep not meeting. From a one chance encounter they are destined to meet and so starts a series of near misses and ahhh moments. "To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors… Drink sometime?"

At some points it felt like a rom-com and others it felt like a hard handed look at how the author wants guys to be (not that I disagree). I liked that the Nadia was smart and witty and could support herself. Daniel was all that is rom-com perfect in a leading man. I loved the idea of the story. It had all the elements of my favorite rom-com "You've Got Mail," but was missing a little bit of the heart. I identified with the heroine most of the book which made the "will they, won't they" a little less draining.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun rom-com.

A brilliantly witty and relatable story about a couple who are destined to be together bit keep missing each other when their own busy lives get in the way. A proper summer read, only wish more of the story followed the couple after they had finally found each other.

Our Stop is a sweet, humorous story of Nadia and Daniel who travel on the same train each morning and begin exchanging messages via the local newspaper's 'Missed Connections' section.

I thought the characters were likeable and well developed and although I thought the book moved a bit too slowly, I enjoyed the writing style.

This felt a little slight, like it needed a bit more story. Most of the book depends on near misses between the main two characters. It's very up to date, as if every meme/YA issue was carefully added in, but it does work and the book feels fresh. I think I would have just liked a bit more sideplot.

Our Stop plays on the Missed Connections theme and results in a charming romance between two individuals hoping to find that someone special. It’s perfectly paced and it does keep the would be couple apart for nearly half of the book. This gives the reader time to appreciate the two main leads as individuals. Still it definitely is a page turner, with its humor, lovable characters and the many ways we find love in the most common but overlooked places.

Well written heartwarming love story, about Daniel and Nadia meeting on their 7.30 morning commute on the London Underground.
Communication started with the connections column in the paper, and soon had a following of fellow commuters wanting to see the outcome of the potential romance..
Lovely easy read.

I loved this book! Such a fun read, I could not put it down. It was hilarious, the characters were engaging and really likeable and the scenarios realistic. I can't wait to read Laura Jane's next book!

I feel so bad for DNFing this Our Stop.

I loved the premise of the story that the blurb promised, it's exactly what i'm always in the mood for. I really love cute Rom-Coms.

However, i personally felt that that wasn't delivered. The wit amused me, but to a limited extent. The plot and characters felt a little...forced? There seemed to be an unnatural quality to it that i can't put my finger on. Maybe it's just because i'm running on a mood right now so i can't take to the story.

I really wish i could like this story...so i'm putting it off! For now, i'll be moving on. But this shall be on my December TBR.

OH MY! I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down. all those close encounters and near misses. but it all worked out wonderful. the book is written brilliantly and draws you in right from the start. look forward to seeing more from this author!

A modern love story!

I’ve just finished reading this book and feel quite confused. I loved the storyline, but I wasn’t a fan of the writing. There were quite a few American-isms littered through the text. This isn’t an issue, I read lots of books with different use of language, but it makes a more enjoyable read of the language is consistent.

The characters were good, but there were too many characters to be able to develop them well. Nadia was great, but other than her past relationship and her poor timing we didn’t know much about her. The author has portrayed Nadia and her two best friends as very PC with strong feminist beliefs, yet Nadia’s character is based entirely around men whilst throwing in stem references. It’s ok to write a romance story without feeling the need to justify the woman’s intelligence or feminism!

The actual story was great though and the last third of the book was really enjoyable.

Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams is a book that I was following the author on Instagram for about a year, and really enjoyed her take on things.

Our Stop is about Nadia and Daniel, who both take the same train (she tries, anyway) to work. Daniel decides that a good way to meet a woman on a train is to put something in Missed Connections in the paper that everyone reads on the train.

This is the story of their near misses as they nearly meet in a lot of different ways, and was one that I really enjoyed!

If you liked The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary, then you'll enjoy this! I personally loved both!

Laura Jane Williams has written two non-ficton books, and this is her debut novel! She's currently working on her next book, but is finding the time to promote Our Stop, and tickets for these events have been going quickly!

Our Stop was published on Kindle on 6th June, and is coming out in paperback on 8th August, and is available to buy or preorder on Amazon and on Waterstones. I've found a link to where you can search for local bookshops, including independent!

I loved it. I couldn't put it down, it was highly addictive, making me desperate to find out what happens next. Well written characters that feel fresh and millennial. It's a modern day love story with a will they, won't they arc that really works leaving you eager to read on. The perfect summer read!

This book was an absolute delight to read. The three friends worked well together and the ironic near misses of Nadia and Daniel were entertaining and comical. Without spoiling the ending love conquers all and everyone gets their happy ending, although not all relationships can be predicted in this book. A great summer read.

Romancing the modern-day way
Danny is travelling to work on the tube one morning when he sees Nadia and he knows she could be THE ONE. If he’d spoken to her there and then, there would be no book, but luckily for us readers there’s an unspoken rule never to interact with other commuters. Instead, he writes a message to her via a local newspaper in the hopeful event that she might see it. She does, and what follows is a conversation between two people who never quite manage to meet up. There were so many near misses and lost opportunities. I read this mostly over one day as the will they/won’t manage to meet became compulsive reading.
Very well written, a delightful modern-day romance that'll make the reader frequently laugh out loud.

The synopsis says: "So begins a not-quite-romance of near misses, true love, and the power of the written word." And that captures it brilliantly. The book is very romantic as such, but since our two protagonists several times nearly miss each other they cannot really start with the romance in 'real life' but have to fall back to communicating via a newspaper (reminded me of "Desperately Seeking Susan", this movie from the 80's when Madonna was still young & cool) containing a section about "Missed Connections".

I loved the storyline, I loved the characters, I especially loved the snappy witty dialogues. And I also found it a very nice reversal of roles that here it is the man who initiates the whole game, who is the driving force into meeting each other and who even consults a Dating Guide. Normally in those chick-Lit books this is all done by the female lead. Yay to equal rights!

The near misses honestly get a bit frustrating after a while, and with that I mean not only for Daniel and Nadia but also for the reader. But that is also kind of the charm of the story, and I can really picture this being made into a movie. It would work really well.

This was a fresh, Light hearted romance. The characters drew the reader in to their story. The story is based around Nadia , Daniel and their friends. The peripheral characters are all strong and extremely likeable.
Daniel sees Nadia on the morning commute, not wanting to freak her out he posts an advert in the local papers Missed Connections column.
Nadia sees it, realises it is her and then starts a “sliding doors “ scenario. Very much a will they/ won’t they novel but so funny and relatable - loved it !
