This book was hard, I loved Cavanagh's previous work so I had a lot of expectation for this book. It's a stand alone novel, not linked to his well know Eddie Flynn books so a slightly different change of pace. A part of me breaks writing my review as a know blood, sweat and tears went into writing it. To the author Steve Cavanagh, thank you and if you reading this stop now. For everyone else, It starts with an affair and ticks all the boxes of a mystery crime novel. Deceit, lies, double cross and most importantly twists, but I struggled with it. The story didn't engross me and the plot was very predictable. The twists weren't that hidden. Maybe I've read too much mystery, maybe I'm now adept at guessing the plot turn. I don't know, but this book was easy to put down and hard to pick back up. It also read like a first novel, an inexperienced author using a how to guide of writing mystery being used to produce it, 'they're dead but *twist* they are alive after all and now very angry.' It's not the book I expect from an established author. The characters were also obnoxiously annoying, part of me was glad when one kicked the bucket.
Overall I wanted to love it but I struggle to say I liked it. I fear not however, Steve Cavanagh is an excellent author so have every faith his next novel will be brilliant.

Once again Steve Cavanagh has written an amazing story with Twisted. It was certainly that, there were more twists in the tale that you would ever expect. The storyline was very creative and the reader was always kept guessing as to who really was J T LeBeau. The writer of the blockbuster series who never revealed himself.
With thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC, which I have thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Another fantastic read by Steve Cavanagh
Absolutely gripping
Cleverly written
Completely captivates and keeps you engrossed to the very last word.
Thank you netgalley, Orion and Steve Cavanaugh for allowing me to read and review this book.

Brilliant book about a murder, affair, kidnapping. It's hard to say too much without giving it all away but this book was outstanding, more ups and downs than the big dipper! So many twists and turns and I had no idea how it was all going to end. Outstanding.
I'm looking forward to more of Cavangh's work.

I think the title "Twisted" pretty much sums this one up. I don't think I've ever come across a book with quite so many twists and turns. Every time you think you have it figured out and you know what's coming next there's yet another switch and nothing is what you thought it was. Needless to say this is making it very difficult to write a review without giving anything away.
I'm not going to say a huge amount about the story other than it's mostly about the mystery surrounding the identity of author JT LeBeau. LeBeau is one of the biggest thriller writers around, with his books famous for their big twist that no one sees coming, and LeBeau most famous for his elusiveness. No one knows who he is, not even his publisher, and it seems clear that he's hiding his identity to conceal something he's done. Add in a murder or two and a police investigation and this is a really addictive read.
In some ways it almost feels like a parody of itself and I can imagine the author had a lot of fun writing it. This was actually my first book by Cavanagh so I can't compare to any of his other stories but this was really well written and very clever. Some of the twists were literally jaw dropping. There was the odd moment where I felt like it was on the brink of going too far (and in danger of becoming ridiculous) but I think he kept it just to the right side of the line and there are enough clues scattered to make it almost believable.
The story is told from a few different pov's and while I had a little bit of a niggle about one specific character I did like the different perspectives. They are very distinctive and although sometimes a bit stereotyped, they are pretty well rounded.
My only real criticism of this book is that I think it peaked a little too soon and the first half felt stronger than the second. With so many twists and turns it was probably always going to be difficult to keep the element of surprise and I did find my attention wandering a little around the mid point but the author does pull it back at the end.
Overall a fast paced and exciting read with some truly shocking moments. I will most certainly be reading more of Cavanagh's books.

This is my first book by Steve Cavanagh and I have been looking forward to it as I’ve heard a lot of good things about his Eddie Flynn series, in particular Thirteen which is in my TBR pile. I would have read thirteen first if this had not come available on netgalley.
So I started with this soon to be released standalone thriller.
Maria Cooper is married to Paul , who move to a quiet coastal town to begin a new life and family, but Paul , his job taking him away all the time, leaves Maria bored and lonely, in the end she begins an affair with a Daryl, a young waiter/ surfer from the town.
Maria ,or should I say Daryl, discovers by accident , that her husband Paul has a secret bank account with 22 million dollars deposited from a J.T Lebeau, Paul ensures they live frugally, he is always watching the pennies, How and where has this money come from and who and what is J.T Lebeau?
Maria fakes a burglary to try and attempt to get Paul to come clean but Paul has lots of secrets and this brings them to the fore and sparks a catastrophic chain of events in to life as Paul tries to cover his secret world.
Sheriff Dole , troubled by the past and the socially awkward Detective Melissa Bloch investigate the burglary and the Coopers themselves, determined to get to the bottom of what’s going on, Leaving no stone unturned. A couple of more interesting police characters , not run of the mill , I liked them both.
Betrayal, manipulation ,murders, a game of cat and mouse , cold cases and long hidden lies, deviously brilliant characters and big twists and shocks, this book is everything it’s title suggests.
It’s an action packed finale with the twists and turns coming at pace and at every corner, and to the very last page.
A highly enjoyable, cleverly written book, the writing is fluent , easy reading and accessible to anyone to just pick this up, its a very good , fast paced thriller, with not overly long chapters which I always like, the writer captures you and draws you into an interesting and intriguing story, and it’s a bit different to the standard crime caper.
It feels like an author at the top of his game and one who may have enjoyed writing this book,I dare you not to enjoy it to.
Highly recommended

Thank you to netgalley for my review copy.

I really enjoyed this book, the twists kept me guessing and wanting more. I didn’t expect the ending so was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to reading more of this author’s books.

Usually when I write a review, I start with a brief synopsis of the plot, ensuring that I don’t give anything away. This review is going to be very different however, as I feel that the best way to read Twisted is to go into it completely blind like I did, as any discussion of the plot will inevitably spoil your enjoyment of what is a truly brilliant book.
Ever since reading Steve Cavangh’s previous book, Thirteen, the fourth in the Eddie Flynn series, I could not wait to read Twisted, especially seeing as it is a standalone. My interest was certainly piqued when I read the book’s blurb:
BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK
I WANT YOU TO KNOW THREE THINGS:
1. The police are looking to charge me with murder.
2. No one knows who I am. Or how I did it.
3. If you think you’ve found me. I’m coming for you next.
After you’ve read this book, you’ll know: the truth is far more twisted…
Straight away, I was hooked. We know that the person referred to in the blurb is the mysterious J. T. Lebeau, a highly successful thriller writer who has chosen to remain anonymous. This fact, and the blurb, is the only information I am prepared to give other than to say that I don’t think I have ever read a book with such an apt title! Twists are delivered one after the other, most of which I did not see coming at all. Despite the complicated plot, never once did I feel confused as Steve Cavanagh has made it addictive and easy to follow.
If you are looking for a book to keep you awake until the wee small hours, a book that makes you want to read ‘just one more page’, then Twisted is the book you are looking for. I am sure that this is going to be one of my favourite reads of the year and looks like being a huge success for the author.

Twisted is the word. Loved the duplicity that was constant throughout this story. Just who is JT Lebeau? Well you might find out ... or you might not.
Full of brilliant characters, twisting storylines and a two part structure which takes everything you think you know and bounces it on its head half way through, I loved this book. Even old Eddie Flynn gets a mention which made me chuckle.
Cracking stuff and proof you should never trust a writer who uses a pen name ...

Twisted is the perfect title for this book.
Steve Cavanagh has fitted so many twists into the story that you are kept you on your toes thought the book.
I want to be very careful with my review so I do not spoil anything for a reader.
Twisted is very good at making you think the story is going in one direct and then it pulls the rug from under your feet. This is even done with the characters. This twist cause me to drop my iPad in surprise.
Top-notch writing, thrilling plot and interesting character. What more do you want in a crime thriller.
My rating for Twisted is 5 out of 5.

I was a huge fan of Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh so jumped at the chance to review this latest book. Unfortunately despite a strong start I was left feeling really underwhelmed. The concept itself is so clever - this is a book within a book, written by the thriller writer JT LeBeau. No one knows the true identify of LeBeau and the book is full of twists and turns as we try to determine who is the real LeBeau and how he really gets the inspiration for his grippingly murderous books. Reviews for this book have been pretty great so far so it looks like the majority of readers have really enjoyed it. For me personally it there were just TOO many twists and conveniences which just left me exhausted by the end.

Twisted is the first book that I have read by Steve Cavanagh despite having a couple on my TBR pile and Twisted is a fast moving; action packed and very twisty book that resulted in a late night as I wanted to finish it.
The pace never relents and the main characters are well fleshed out whilst the writing is tight.
This is an excellent book and thoroughly recommended

Kept me guessing, and on the edge of my seat, throughout the book...and right to the end...twisted?? I'd say so!!
Great read again by Mr Cavanagh!

Wow, what a cracking read this is!
It starts off quite slowly, then wham, the twists start coming!
Well written, clever plot, I've no doubt it will be a huge seller.
Looking forward to the inevitable film...

Who is best selling author JT LeBeau and what do they have to hide?
There’s not really much I can say about Twisted without giving anything away! The book is extremely fast paced and manages to keep the twists coming over and over again but not in a way that makes them feel out of keeping with the characters or their motivations. I loved the way that it makes you question what is real and what isn’t. The ending for me initially I had thought was a little lacklustre, which may be the problem with having so many twists so early on in the narrative, but then I went back and read it again before realising it was really quite clever.
I enjoyed how each of the characters felt well-rounded – even smaller ones such as the mailman. I liked that some of it felt like a police procedural with the characters of Sheriff Dole and Deputy Bloch being interesting in their own right. It was very hard to know who to root for at times! I did feel however that some of the descriptions felt unnecessarily repetitive – a non-spoiler example being how many times Maria refers to Daryl as unintelligent in the first few chapters.
Twisted is a twisty read that sinks its teeth in you and doesn’t let go until you finish it (which was in two sittings for me!) Thank you to NetGalley & Orion Publishing group for a chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Twisted by Steve Cavanagh. Thanks @netgalley @orionbooks and @sscav for my ARC

Geezo this book was brilliant! Fast paced, fascinating. A complete rollercoaster of a book with some pretty insane characters. This is my first from this author and definitely won’t be the last. It’s hard to even talk about this book without giving away any spoilers but it’s just a perfectly written, thought provoking crazy ride. It messed with my head big time and it certainly lives up to its name. One of the best endings of a book ever. And that is all I’m going to say. Go read this xx

This is a really good read. The punches just kept coming. I loved the writing style and the fact that the plot is definitely twisted. The whole book is very well thought out and I had shivers down my spine on several occasions.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

After recommending “Thirteen” to many people I was very excited to get my hands on the latest offering by Steve Cavanagh. In my opinion, this story starts slow then ramps up and doesn’t let you go until it’s finished! The first 20-25% were a bit of a struggle, but then... WOW! I loved it!
Lots of twists and turns, many great characters and a wonderful setting.
Thank you for allowing me to read another of Steve Cavanagh’s masterpieces!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book
well steve cavanagh has done it again...
the storyline is quite complex and when you think you have an understanding of it along comes another person which puts another viewpoint and takes you in a different direction....
at first i did wonder what on earth was i reading and them bam i got it well thought i had it all worked out...there are so many twists and turns with this one that you are left reeling at times with what you have just found out....that is how the book makes you feel...
could not put the book down at all had to keep going just to see how everything panned out...and i have to say the ending isnt to shabby either...
cant wait for another book by this author...though i believe i need to read a less complex book next...

Recently started reading Steve Cavanagh novels after reading his recent book 'Thirteen'. The Publishers do need a massive pat on the back for their excellent splurge about his books. That was what got me reading this unknown author when I first read one of his novels and they have done it again with this one. If the following introduction doesn't make you want to read more I don't know what will:
BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK
I WANT YOU TO KNOW THREE THINGS:
1. The police are looking to charge me with murder.
2. No one knows who I am. Or how I did it.
3. If you think you've found me. I'm coming for you next.
And this book does not fail with its promises of twists, there are so many I lost count. If like me you love Crime thrillers you will surely enjoy this one. Quickly becoming a firm favourite author of mine.
After you've read this book, you'll know: the truth is far more twisted...
I would like to thank Net Galley and Orion Publishing Group for supplying this novel in exchange for an honest review.
