The latest book by K.L. Slater did not keep me as enthralled as her previous books, but it was a solidly entertaining book. Although it was touted as a thriller, I would catergorize it as more of a mystery since the thriller part kind of went away early in the story. Lucie and Blake Sullivan give into their nine-year-old daughter’s pleas to be allowed to walk home alone from her friend’s house. Unfortunately, Grace seems to just disappear in her short walk home and no one seems to be able to find her. Lucie and Blake seem to have a good marriage, based on trust and respect. But, as the reader gradually finds out, they may not have so much of either in the reality that they face without Grace. In fact, both parents have devastating secrets and one of them is hiding something that puts Grace in danger. The beginning was very fast-paced but the plot seemed to slow down until I had to admit that this was not the best that I have read from this author. Nevertheless, it was entertaining but a little disappointing in its take on the whole “child is missing” genre, although there was a big twist at the end that made me wonder how that came down the pike. I will look for more books by this author because she is definitely worth reading. Fans of mystery with some suspense will enjoy this book.
A great read that's a tad creepy in places but had me hooked from the first page. Although a sad subject of child abduction it is only to easy to relate to in this day and age. All along i was thinking I knew who the perpetrator was but the twist at the end showed how wrong I was! I will definitely look to read some more by this author. I recommend to anyone who likes this genre of book.
Another heart racing thriller from KL Slater.
There has been a few books recently about children being taken but this one is head and shoulders above the rest.
Lucie and Blake are devastated when nine year old Grace goes missing and can’t understand why someone would take her.
As their neighbours and friends help with the search Lucie makes a discovery about her husband and is left feeling confused.
We also learn through flashback chapters what happened to Lucie when she was at university.
Grace is diabetic and each day that passes has life threatening implications for her, and Lucie and her family desparately try and work out who has taken her.
Following a televised appeal Lucie receives a message telling her to meet - alone - if she wants her daughter back.
This is a gripping read, full of twists and turns and I loved it.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this book. I actually forgot I had read another book by K L Slater in the past and really enjoy the writing style. What happens when your child goes missing and your past comes back to haunt you and husbands and wives keep secrets from you? Well, you get a roller coaster of a story - ups and downs and twists galore! Lucey and Blake finally allow their 9 year old daughter to walk home from a friends house, but she never makes it home. Both parents do their best to find their daughter while trying to hold their own secrets close to their hearts, will this help or make things worse? Read this fast moving book to find out. A few times I thought I knew how it would end but the ending threw me for a complete loop.
I just love this author......K.L Slater has done it again! Written another fantastic book "Finding Grace" that will have you hooked from the very first few pages. This book was Good! and will have you guessing right till the end!
"I'm a Big Girl now Mum and dad!" as Grace who is just nine years old kept on telling her mum and dad Lucie and Blake Sullivan. So when they let Grace walk home from her bestfriends house that's in the same road as her. Every parents nightmare! Grace vanishes on her first solo walk home from her friend’s house, even worse as Grace is Diabetic.
Grace's friends father was meant to be watching her at one end of the road and Bruce was meant to watch her from his side of the road!
So where did she go?
Who has got her?
A book full of twist and turns and secrets on all sides with a OMG ending to this brilliantly written book!
I would highly recommend this book and all of K.L Slaters books.
5 star book!

Big Thank you! I loved this book***
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book hooked me in from page one and didn't let me go even after the last page. Absolutely brilliant writing by Ms. Slater. This book was incredibly difficult to put down because I wanted to know what would happen next. The surprises, the twists and turns along the way were so unexpected that my jaw dropped at times.
This book also brought forward a question that every parent has dealt with over the years, what age do you start giving your child freedoms. How old is acceptable for them to walk to a friend's house? What about to the shops to grab some sweets? Add into the decision making process that your child has a life threatening disease that requires medication at specific times.....
When Lucie and Blake Sullivan's 9 year old daughter Grace continues to beg them to be able to walk the 5 minutes from her friend Olivia's house, they finally agree to it. Olivia's parents Bev and Mike will watch as she leaves their house and Blake will watch from their place to see her arrive. But Grace doesn't arrive......
How does a little girl vanish into thin air? How does no-one see where she went? Police and members of their community soon descend on their house with the intention of bringing Grace home as soon as possible.
Everyone has secrets. Lucie, Blake, Bev and Mike are no different. Even Olivia is holding onto a secret. Some secrets are just too terrible to let out.... To get Grace back Lucie has to face the demons from her past and face the secrets that she has to share with Blake, her rock, the man she loves.
I would love to give this book more than 5 stars because it's such a fabulous, gripping psychological thriller!!
Thank you to net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book first time reading anything from this author
I have read all of K.L.Slater's books and this is definitely one of her best.
This book is every parents worst nightmare, a missing child. K.L. Slater tells the story through believable characters and their relationships with each other. A really compelling read that kept me guessing and had me reading late into the night.
The story keeps you on your toes right to the end. The main characters are all true to life with their strengths and flaws. And what a tale; I absolutely loved it, great storytelling and an addictive brilliant read.
Seriously can't wait for her next book!
Finding Grace kept me turning the pages until the story conclusion, with enough twists and turns to separate the book from other thrillers with a similar lost child theme. Though I found the protagonist’s poor judgement frustrating at times, she redeemed herself through her character growth and brought the novel to a satisfying conclusion. Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley, Outure Books and Author K L Slater for the digital ARC of this book in return for my unbiased review.
Here comes the Blurb as they say it better than i can!! :)
The day after her ninth birthday, Lucie and Blake Sullivan agree, for the very first time, to let their daughter, Grace, make the four-minute walk back home alone from a friend’s house just down the street.
They joke with friends about hiding behind bushes to ensure she is safe. But the joke turns sour when Grace does not appear.
Despite the best efforts of the police and local community, Grace seems to have vanished into thin air. With hope fading fast, Lucie knows she can rely on her husband to support her through such dark times. That is until the day she makes a shocking discovery, hidden in Blake’s desk, and suddenly she begins to doubt everything she knew about the man she married.
But Lucie harbours a terrible secret of her own. One that she has never shared with anyone, even Blake …
And as the search for Grace reaches fever pitch, Lucie receives a terrifying message. If she is ever to see Grace again, Lucie has no choice but to face the past she tried hard to bury forever. And she must do it alone.

Another fantastic psychological thriller by the amazing K L Slater, a child missing, gone in a second, secrets uncovered and more questions than answers.
While the premise of a missing child has been repeated in many books at the moment, it still takes a special skill to make the book so enthrawling that you just HAVE to know what happened!
Some lose ends in this book left me wondering? Backpack anyone!!? But over all a very enjoyable read

You know when you pick up a K L Slater book to get comfy and cancel any plans as you are in for a cracking read!
This one is no different. By chapter 4 I was invested in the story, the characters and totally hooked!
I love how this author keeps your attention from beginning to end and even if you think you know what the twist is going to be bang! No you dont!!
Brilliant. Easy 5 stars and wouldn't hesitate to recommend if to everyone.
A missing child trope written by K. L. Slater, you betcha I was going to be right there at the forefront reading this. This became one of my midnight reads as the intrigue and the secrets of the past demanded my complete attention.
Walking from home could be a peril, and 9 year old Grace and her parents realized that when she suddenly vanished. One blind bend of the road and one moment of inattention, changed their lives, and saving Grace and bringing her back home was all Lucie and Blake wanted.
K. L. Slater’s writing once again ignited my imagination regarding the whereabouts of the child and made me follow the many red herrings placed strategically to lead the mind down the narrow off-roads. Written in 2 timelines, the book could both reveal and horrify me the way naivete and innocence could be captured and used down the merry road.
Predictable theme and slightly weird truth reveals niggled me. Yet the fast pace, hidden secrets, twisty ending made this an enjoyable read till 2am.
Every time I see a new psychological thriller from K.L. Slater I can’t help but do a little happy dance in my excitement anticipating a great read. Long time fans and new readers both will most likely enjoy this latest, Finding Grace as it’s another solid story from a great writer.
Lucie and Blake Sullivan are parents to nine year old Grace who like most children these days thinks she’s one step away from adulthood. Grace is adamant that she doesn’t need her parents walking her back and forth from her friends home, she’s nine already not two! After much bickering and back and forth Lucie and Blake finally agree to let her walk home on her own.
Despite having agreed to allowing Grace a bit of independence the parents of both girls have agreed to keep an eye out on Grace as she walks, hopefully without her noticing. Unfortunately the plan goes awry when Blake slips and falls hurting his ankle instead of taking up his post to watch for Grace and in the blink of an eye Grace goes missing.
Being very familiar with this author I know ahead of time that I would enjoy her writing and it wouldn’t take but a page turn or two to become engrossed in her new story. This is definitely one of those good psychological thrillers that has you questioning each character along the way as the story unfolds. Definitely still a fan after this latest read and can’t wait for the next as it will surely be full of twists and turns too.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This book was just okay for me. I'm thinking that my interest in this particular genre, i.e. missing children, is waning. After a while they all seem the same, missing child and a parent with a secret.
I'll probably try this author again, but maybe a different book with a different plot...
Omg this book was soooo good. I couldn't put it down. Such an easy and fast read. I would've never guessed it in a million years. It was such a shocking twist at the end. All the revelations that came to light at the end were fantastic. This book had everything. Great characters, content and a shocking ending. What more do you want from a book???
Loved this book, Held my attention until the shocking ending. Wonderful story, characters, superb writing. Highly recommend
Every parents worst nightmare- their kid gone missing or abducted. I cannot even imagine the feeling & I am not a mother yet. I really enjoyed this book, it kept me guessing & trying to figure out who possibly could have taken Grace. There were probably 5 different characters that would go through my mind throughout the book that it could be but the ending definitely came as a shock. Not what I expected & that is what I liked- It wasn't predictable at all. The author does a good job on making you love & hate the characters at different points of the book swaying your opinion of the outcome. Well written & I really like how the book ended. Lucie's husband is an amazing man!
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book for a honest review.
# Finding Grace # Netgalley
Superb Novel from K L Slater. She really thinks deeply about her storylines, with so many secrets. Twist and turns. I was hooked on this book by the first couple of chapters. Once again K L Slater has lived up to her normal standards if not higher than her other novels, if that possible. With Blake and Lucie having there own secrets, sometimes you can feel so much tension between the two, Neither one wanting the other to know the secrets they both hold, makes it a excellent story, one I was addicted too. Absolutely superb. Highly recommend you read this novel you will not regret it.
Thank you NetGalley and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.
This story kept me intrigued from the start but then it just dragged on. As parents we all experience the newly found independence that our children go through. That is what Lucie and Blake went through with through with their nine year old daughter Grace.
She wanted to walk home alone from her best friends house that lived a few houses away. Her friends dad would watch her for a while and then Grace's dad would watch her the rest of the way. All without her knowing.
But Grace's dad was busy with his cell phone and Grace's friends dad was called into his house so each dad dropped the ball. Grace never made it home.
There are so many twists and turns and you realize that you can't run from your past.
The plot line is fantastic and makes you realize how fast it could happen to you, in a blink of an eye your life could change. It just didn't need to be drawn out like it was.
Wow! This book is totally unputdownable!
I was gripped right from the start with this book. What should have been quite straightforward, a little girl walking the five minute walk home from her friend’s house, with adults keeping an eye surreptitiously at either end, turns into a nightmare when she doesn’t make it home.
As the book progressed, I had so many suspicions. But there’s so many twists and turns in this fantastic plot, as more lies are uncovered, and I did not see the end coming at all.
I was desperate to get to the end and find out Lucie’s past secrets, and to find out what had happened to Grace.
Definitely one of the big psychological thrillers of this year, compelling and addictive.
