Baby lion tries to guess what is Daddy's favourite sound throughout the day, is it a whistle, is it a car horn, is it clapping? The repetitive sentences makes reading fun. The illustrations are bright and good.

Such a sweet book and a really nice gift to anyone who is expecting in preparation of the arrival. This is one book you can enjoy with your young ones time and time again.

This is an absolutely beautiful book with a delightful story and the most charming illustrations.
I teach English as a foreign language, and for my littlest students that involves lots of storytelling and activities around the themes of the story. I can see this adorable tale quickly becoming a firm favourite. Parents, teachers and kids will have lots of fun recreating the sounds throughout the book with their voices.

I had the chance to read a preview copy of the book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers.

Both my daughter who is 5 and niece who is 9 loved this book. It is a brilliant book for young or slightly older children

When I read this to my 4 year old, the 7 and 9 year olds came into the room and peeked over my shoulder, grinning. They stayed to the end because they wanted to solve the mystery! I struggled between giving it a 4 or a 5 star review, because I feel like it's a little long. But preferred length is always a personal taste. I ended up giving it 5 stars because my kids loved it, and at the end of the day, that's the most important thing, right?

I enjoyed reading Daddy’s Favorite Sound. It was different from some other children’s books I have read lately. It had many colorful illustrations that really helped this tale pop off the page. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but in a good way. This story has a good message and I think most kids will have fun reading it.

Daddy Lion and Baby Lion spend the day together. All day long Baby Lion tries to figure out what her daddy’s favorite sound is. Every time she thinks she has found it, Daddy tells her that he likes that sound but it is not his favorite. In the end, we find that his favorite sound follows his daughter’s nightly prayers: I love you, Daddy.

This is a great book for fathers to read to their children. It has a repetitive chorus of ‘“Then Daddy, Daddy where can it be found?” “Little Lion, to find it, you’ll have to look around.”’ I read this to my five-year-old grandson. When he got to this line he would repeat “You’ll have to look around.” It made the book extra fun to read.

This story is very well written. It comes up with sounds that occur in our daily like that we don’t give any thought to. Any of these could be daddy’s favorite sound. We and our children are left to wonder what sound could possibly be daddy’s favorite one. I love the ending when I love you was the favorite. This is a story to warm your heart.

The illustrations are outstanding and the book itself very creative. The expressions are very good and change through the many pictures.

This is an outstanding book for Father’s Day to be read to daddy’s little ones. I highly recommend it all year round but particularly then.

This adorable book is an excellent one for Father's to read with their children. I love the way it describes the quality time the Daddy spends with his little one throughout the day. It was such a sweet read. It would be great in an Easter basket- or anytime throughout the year! The message within the story is heartwarming and the devotion in the back of the book also includes an activity that would be fun to do together!

I highly recommend this book and would definitely buy copies for my family and friends.

Daddy Lion and Baby Lion spending time together trying to find out what Daddy’s favorite sound is, was a cute story of a Dad and Daughter spending time together.
Little Lion spends her day trying to figure out what her Dads favorite sound is from crunching carrots, to the sound of the coffee pot dripping, to her hands clapping.
I think the length of the story is too long for children younger than about 3. My 18 month old granddaughter wanted to turn the page after looking at the pictures.
We really liked the illustrations and I like how it ends with the Bible verse.

Daddy's Favorite Sound is a fun, entertaining book. It is a great way to introduce Jesus' love for us to young children by comparing it to the love that Daddy Lion has for Little Lion in the book. My 3 year old and 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a prayer at the end of the book that young children can say and questions to ask the children to foster discussion. This book is perfect for preschool and early elementary children. I definitely recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Harvest House Publishers through NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Daddy’s Favorite Sound is a fictional children’s book written by Brock and Kinley Eastman.
Summary: Little Lion really wants to know which sound is daddy’s favorite. In fact, she’ll try any sound to figure it out!
My Thoughts: This is a cute book with a great premise-a fun book to read to a child at bedtime. I also liked that the author wrote this book with his daughter’s help, which is fun.
My only criticism (and I almost can’t believe I am saying this), is that I think the book could have been shorter. I like the premise, but once the same basic thing is repeated over several pages, it is a little much.
Otherwise though, this is a fun little book for parents to read to their kids to let them know they are loved.
I would like to thank Harvest House Publishers for providing me with a free digital copy of this book for my unbiased review. Thank you!

*I was provided with a copy of this via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

The illustrations are cute, but the story itself was way overly repetitive, even for a child. Throwing the Bible verse in at the end seemed like an afterthought that didn’t really tie into the story.

Adorable Little Lion goes through her day with her favourite member of the family... her beloved Daddy! As she does she tries to discover his most favourite sound in all the big, wide, world. She slurps, honks, bounces, crunches, claps, gargles and more. But all those delightful sounds that she exhibits are declined as not being his favourite. She almost gives up trying and then at the very end of the day after a lovely bedtime story and multiple hugs she finally unlocks the magical words that bring music to Daddy's ears. Can you guess the three special words that are his most favourite sound and that make his heart ever so happy?

The strong bond between Little Lion and her Daddy is a reflection of how our Heavenly Father feels about His children and how much He delights in hearing those words expressed too. The book uses the Bible as its model and portrays sweet animal characters and familiar family scenarios to highlight a very positive and uplifting message.

The illustrations are spot-on perfect! They are whimsical, colourful and full of action, emotion and love. I especially love Daddy Lion whose unruly mane and bare feet reminds me of a loving hippy Daddeo and I am very impressed with the quality time he carves out to spend with his darling wee daughter. Very awe-inspiring indeed!

I am sure those three tiny amazing words will generate hugs and kisses in your own home after the book is read together and before you tuck your little one in for the night. I highly recommend this book.

What a sweet story and testament to a father’s love for his child. I love how Daddy Lion spends his whole day with his daughter, and we see him subtly taking care of her throughout. The illustrations are cute, and funny too when some of the sounds (like the blaring car horn) cause Daddy to make some stressed out faces. Christianity is present in the story (Daddy prays before dinner), but it doesn’t come off as preachy or overwhelm the narrative like it does in a lot of Christian fiction. The nonfiction supplements and activities at the end of the book offer great ways for kids to tie the book to their faith, though. I did think that the placement of the text was a little hard on the eyes—it varies from page to page and in some places is hard to distinguish from the illustrations. At first I thought the switching of the text in and out of verse was jarring, but once I got further into the book and saw the larger pattern, I was fine with it.

My seven-year-old son's thoughts:
I like the colors and all the different sounds. I thought it would say the dad's favorite sound was peace and quiet. It made my two-year-old brother laugh at the sounds. We both liked it.

My thoughts, as a mom:
The first thing I enjoyed about this was the bright colors and the simplicity of it. It was easy enough for my two-year-old son to follow along with. He found some of the pictures funny as well, mostly the one where the dad used carrots as teeth. He followed along, making the sounds as I did.

The ending is very sweet and I enjoyed it. I too thought it would say dad's favorite sound was silence but it was much sweeter than that. Don't stop flipping pages when the story ends, there is a great activity in the back. This really pushed this novel over the top for me. It gives instructions to make a noisemaker so the children can make their own noise, not that they don't make enough already.

I would recommend this novel for children ages 2-5

Little Lion spends the entire day trying to figure out Daddy Lion’s favorite sound. Again and again, she is told “you’ll have to look around” to figure out Daddy’s favorite sound. It’s not the the sound of a slinky, a honking horn, a crunchy carrot, a bounding ball, the wind, the drip of a coffee maker, or a gargling gurgle. Finally, it’s time for bed and Little Lion still hasn’t figure it out. Little Lion tells Daddy Lion “I love you Daddy” as she hugs him. There it is!-- Daddy Lion’s favorite sound—special words. This beauifully and colorfully-illustrated book closes wtih a child-friendly explanation of 1 John 4:10, “We love Him because He first loved us.” A sweet story.

Very cute little story. I love the drawings. I love that there is a little bit of rhyming but all of the book doesn't rhyme.
