Communication is one, if not the, most important skill a manager must have. This book gives practical advice how to harness this skill to improve relationships with others.
Being in management for 17 years, this was basic information that was laid out to help out others that may be feeling like they cannot connect or understand the communication efforts.
The Manager’s Communication Toolkit by Tina Kuhn is a detailed resource on dealing with different personalities in the workplace. Kuhn spells out the differences between personalities providing descriptions, traits, techniques and how best to prepare building on every day business dealings using examples. There is something here for anyone wanting to understand the nuances of relationships and how best to become more focused and purposeful.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I skimmed through this book but plan to purchase my own copy for marking up and using.
The Manager's Communication Toolkit gives great tips that can be implemented immediately. As a manager it is beneficial to have so many examples to get your mind started on the task. This book offers great tips for a large amount of scenarios. Highly recommend.
This book had a lot of very good ideas for someone who has never managed before or never taken a management course. It is very basic information, so not for someone who is at the advanced level, management-wise.
I wasn't sure what to expect of this book, but as I dove into it I realized what a practical tool this book was. I wouldn't suggest that anything in this book is new, however this book consolidates a lot of information into a concise digestable fashion to make it a worthy and useful 'toolkit' for any manager.
I appreciate the various examples and case studies that compliment the reflections and thoughts of the authors. I also appreciated how she went into detail examining different personality types and what to watch for. Where I think she goes above and beyond is she then describes how to work with those different personalities, but also how to help them thrive and succeed so your team is not high jacked.
The piece that I think goes above and beyond in adding value is the last section. After reading about team members and potential challenges she turns the reflection to personal and inwards. She challenges us as managers to reflect on who we are and our approach. I'd challenge every reader though constantly throughout the book to reflect 'is that me? and if so, how do I need to grow?'
This book is a toolkit, but it's also an insightful tool for self examination and growth.
As a mandate, I am taking my time while reading this title. I want to not miss anything. I am need the help with properly communicating with employees and other personnel.
Good and interesting information presented in an easy to read format. Everything you need to communicate in every way possible.
This is a must read for anyone who is looking to communicate effectively with the people around them who are directly or indirectly involved in their life. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC. I particularly loved the section of do's and don't's in this book because it serves as a reminder of the factors to bear in mind.
