One delightful story with wonderful characters and great story line. Susan is a new author for me and I love her writing style. Looking forward to read more in the future.
I loved this book, This author did another great job, I recommend it to others. You are going to love it just as much as I did.
This is a wonderful book full of forgiveness, faith, friendship, and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Ms. Simpson has written a charming book about the gentle Amish people. The characters are well-developed and engaging.
Rebecca Zook is a young Amish girl who ran away from her home in Maryland to experience life in New York City. She is naive enough to believe that everyone is as good as the people in her Amish community. Things don’t go well for Rebecca. Rebecca returns to her home pregnant and feeling unworthy to be loved. Her family and friends forgive her for her recklessness, but she can’t forgive herself.
I enjoyed reading The Reconciliation and look forward to reading more from this author.
The Reconciliation by Susan Lantz Simpson is a charming Amish story of faith, and forgiveness. I read a lot of Amish fiction and this book did not disappoint me. It is the second book in the series and can be read as a stand alone but treat yourself to the first book also. You will be happy you have a little more time with the characters who become like family. Thank you netgalley and Kensington/zebra for an arc of this book. The opinions are solely my own .
I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This was a cute Amish book with a happily ever after. I enjoyed it!
Becky was a notorious flirt in the Amish community. She is now back at home after disappearing and breaking her parent's hearts. Atlee was a jokester who enjoyed pulling innocent pranks on his family and friends. He had steered clear of the silly young woman. As a more mature man Atlee can see that Rebecca is in need of a friend, someone she can talk to now that she is back. His kind heart draws him to her as she tried to show the community that she has changed. She wants to reconcile with her family and needs to reconcile with God.
This is a sweet story with interesting characters. As a reader of Susan Lantz Simpson I recognize characters from her other books. It was enjoyable to see Atlee and Becky develop a true friendship in this story. Lena is an excellent source of faith and friendship in the story. This is a story of faith, reconciliation and forgiveness. I enjoy the author's books. Her characters have realistic weaknesses and strengths.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader's copy. This is my own opinion of the book.
Susan Lantz Simpson is a talented author and knows how to write authentic Amish fiction. This story about Becky Zook’s return to her Amish community was heart-tugging. Becky had a true desire to return home, seek forgiveness, and reconcile with the family members she had wounded. I appreciated her humbleness as she sought to make things right with her family and community. Atlee wants to make Becky his wife and care for her baby as his own, but Becky has a difficult time forgiving herself for all the hurt she caused and believes she’s not good enough for Atlee. It’s not until she understands and accepts God’s love and forgiveness that she finds she can look forward to the blessings that God has for her in the future.
This is a sweet, clean story with no foul language. If you love Amish fiction, I highly recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed reading The Reconciliation by Susan Lantz Simpson. It is an amazing story of forgiveness the way it should be. There were a couple of times that I wanted the book to move a little faster toward the solution but the end was worth the wait! I would recommend this book to anyone who has made an error in judgement, ended up with some major consequences and learned about resilience and, most of all, the true forgiveness of God! This book was provided to me at no cost for the purpose of providing an honest review.
I enjoyed the sweet and clean Amish story, The Reconciliation. I am giving it three and a half stars.
The Reconciliation by Susan Lantz Simpson has us shivering during a cold January in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Rebecca “Becky” Zook is returning home after running away to New York City six months ago. Becky learned that her marriage to Vinny was not real after confiding in him that she was pregnant and then found his friends standing over his dead body. Thankfully, Becky’s parents welcome her home as does Bishop Lapp. Lena Troyer is a widow with two little girls and a third child on the way. Becky offers to help the overwhelmed woman and, in the process, obtains a dear friend as well as a new vocation. Atlee Stauffer offers to be Becky’s friend and be a kind, listening ear. He has noticed that her time away has changed Becky and he is drawn to her despite his family’s warning. Becky enjoys spending time with Atlee, but she feels unworthy of a good man. Atlee will need to slowly win Becky’s trust and convince her she is deserving of forgiveness and love.
The Reconciliation is the third book in a series set in Southern Maryland by Susan Lantz Simpson (The Promise and The Mending). Becky Yoder was about to be baptized when she bolted and disappeared to New York City. Becky used to a flirtatious and fun young woman. Her experiences in the big city have changed her and she comes home a different woman. Becky feels she is unworthy of happiness and a good man after the trouble she caused her family. Atlee notices the change in Becky along with how she spends her time alone. He befriends her to help her and finds himself falling in love. Atlee needs to work past Becky’s defenses to show her that she merits grace and being loved. The Reconciliation is a sweet, heartwarming Amish romance. It shows people that we can be forgiven for our mistakes. We need to learn from our missteps and move forward. While The Reconciliation can be read as a standalone, I found it helpful to have read the other books in this series. I enjoyed the casual writing style which made The Reconciliation easy to read. There is kissing and hugging only in the story which makes it a nice, clean romance. The Reconciliation is a heartfelt Amish love story with good Christian morals and valuable life lessons.
This is the second book in this series, and yes, they can be read alone, there are some recurring characters here, and you will be quickly drawn into the story.
When Becky Zook ran out and away from her baptism it was because of the “grass is always greener” and sadly such a lesson for her. We get to be with her as she returns to her community, and wonder as she does if she can go home again.
This is a story of leaving childhood behind and embracing adulthood, and we see transformations in the for of love fellow man.
Surprises happen here, and there are some sad happenings, along with welcoming new little ones into the fold.
A don’t miss life lesson read.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zebra, and was not required to give a positive review.
Rebecca/Becky had ran out of her Amish church on her baptism day. Becky had wanted to see more of God’s world and than left her community and went to NYC. She had wanted to experience more than caring for a home, garden, and animals. Than a husband and children. She had ended up seeing and experiencing a whole lot more than she had planned on. Her life had been ruined in six months after leaving her Amish community. She had been ruled by fear lately. Things had had gone along ak at first. She got a job at a Cafe - all she could get with just an eighth grade education . Not a great paying job, but the owner of the cafe had rented her a room for a pretty good price. She had enough money to buy some clothes at the thrift store and put some snacks in her cupboard. Her meals were free whens she was working. If Vinny hadn’t started hanging at the cafe she probably would still be ok but that wasn’t happy. If Becky hadn’t been so naive she wouldn’t have fallen for Vinny . It was her own fault she had fallen in with Vinny and his friends. Vinny had convinced her to marry him after a few weeks even though they didn’t know each other verywell. But when she told him she thought she was pregnant he told her to take care of the problem when she refused, he told her he had no use for her. He also told her they weren't really married the marriage license had been fake. He had laughed at Becky and she had ran out of the apartment she had hoped Vinny would come after her but he didn’t. But his friends were interested in her being with them. She went to another waitress that worked at the Cafe and she let her stay at her apartment for a couple of days than Becky got a ticket for the bus to go home. Becky was unsure how her parents and community would act but she hoped they would forgive her and take her back. Becky’s dad and mom welcomed her home and her community welcomed her back. Atlee finds a new person in the Becky that returned from the city and she didn’t flirt with everyone anymore. She is kind and volunteered to help helping a widow-Lena who lived in their community. Becky and Atlee become friends but he wants more but Becky doesn’t believe she is good enough to be with Atlee. His mother doesn’t want Atlee to court Becky. But Atlee prays to god he can get becky to trust him and open her heart to him.
I enjoyed this read. I felt it was well written. A little different from most Amish stories I have read but that was fine by me. I loved how Atlee stood by Becky and never gave up on her. I felt like I was there with Becky and Atlee.I liked seeing the growth Becky went through. I really liked Becky and Atkee together and how they interacted. I advise you to read the first book in this series for a smoother read. I really enjoyed the plot and the pace. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.
Wow...talk about unexpected! I read a previous book by this author and didn't like it at all so I didn't have high expectations going into this book but decided to give it a chance.
Unlike the first book, the female character's concerns and worries are warranted. We have a young Amish woman who finds herself having a baby outside of marriage which of course is not something that is typically done in this community. Her concerns aren't exaggerated like in the first book.
I loved Atlee's character and how he strove to prove himself to Rebecca.
** ARC received from Netgalley **
After running from the church on her baptismal day, Rebecca just wants to experience some of God's world before she really decides. However, she only finds heartache. Coming back home, Rebecca is wiser, more humble, and pregnant. Will she be able to find forgiveness among her community? Or will everyone always be weary of her? Atlee is drawn to Becky. He finds her to be thoughtful and settled. However, everyone, including his mother, do not like that he is wanting to court her. Can he convince her to look at him? But more important can he convince her to love again?
This was a great read! I really enjoyed the story line and characters. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
Rebecca having left her church on the day of her baptism learns that life in the outside world is not what she had anticipated. When she comes back scared and confused, will her Amish community welcome her? This story has a great message of forgiveness and redemption. Rebecca struggled with self worth after the things that happened to her in New York. I like that Lena offered Becky love and understanding without judgement. I hope to read more about this community. Highly recommended!
The Reconciliation an inspirational Amish novel by Susan Lantz Simpson. This is the first novel I have read by this author, but I was not disappointed. Ms. Simpson obviously knows her craft.
Rebecca (Becky) Zook ran from her Amish community on the day of her church baptism. She left her Maryland home for the bright lights of New York City. She finds out how truly naive she is after she’s tricked into a fake marriage and becomes pregnant. Becky returns home dejected, afraid and expecting to be ostracized.
Atlee Stauffer remembers the Becky Zook that left Maryland months ago, and doesn’t expect to fall for the new Becky. The Becky who no longer flirts with every guy in sight. The Becky who volunteers to help a young widow in the community. Atlee falls for the new Becky, now all he has to do is convince her that she cares for him as much as he cares for her.
The scenery is well imagined. The characters are rich. The story is somewhat unusual for an Amish novel but all the still sweeter for it.
As a lover of Amish fiction, I always expect to enjoy an Amish story. However, being a lover of the genre also means I know when I’ve read a good Amish story. This is a great story. I rate The Reconciliation 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all lovers of Christian romance. If religious themes are not to your liking, move on to the next book.
My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
The mistakes of the past can keep a person from moving forward. You feel judged and ridiculed for that one thing. This can leave a person stuck in that moment. Making it difficult for them to move forward. Susan Lantz Simpson represents this concept well.
The main character, Becky, is introduced to the reader in Simpson's previous novel The Mending. However, you do not have to read that book to understand this one. The first few chapters recounts the main characters life. Specifically, how and why she returned to the Amish community she ran away from. Widowed, pregnant, and trying to put her life together Becky feels she has messed up so much she doesn't deserve the love of the young man whose name makes her heart skips a beat, Atlee.
This story is all about accepting the grace of the Lord by forgiving yourself. Once that is done you will be a new creature with a new life.
The Reconciliation is a very well written inspirational romance. I enjoyed the plot, characters and the setting. This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed her writing. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my advance copy. This is my unbiased review.
The Reconciliation by Susan Lantz Simpson looks at the life of flirty Amish girl, Becky, known for stealing other girls beaus and breaking their hearts. Becky runs off to New York City to live a life of freedom and adventure, only to return home afraid, broken hearted, and deeply remorseful for how she treated others in the past.
Becky has made many mistakes and she is doubtful her community, though forgiving, will forget her past transgressions. This makes it hard for her to accept friendship and concern from others because she fears she is no good for anyone to have her in their lives.
This was a story of facing your past, good and bad, and realizing that you must let go and allow God's forgiveness and love in your life. He can wash away your sins so you can move on to the future.
