I received an ARC of this book through #Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It’s been about a year ago that I read my first Kelly Jamieson book and it still stands as one of my all time favorite, hot reads and one of my rare 5 ⭐️ ratings. Since then I’ve read several more, so I was so excited to get the opportunity for my first time ARC of one of her books and for it to be the first in a series. I am not usually a fan of series books, but Ms. Jamiesons books are complete, stand alone novels without a hint of cliffhangers, just memorable support characters that you will remember if you read more of the series. What I also love about this author and her team, the editing is spot on! Nothing kills a book faster for me than misspelling, grammar and situational mistakes. This was an ARC, normally there is unfinished editing which is cleaned up prior to publishing, but even at that, there were maybe only a handful of things needing edited through the whole book. A good book with great editing makes me swoon. 😁

Although most of the other books that I have read by this author are HOT, this one was more sweet. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of sexual tension, but it didn’t drag on forever and there was plenty of varied hot scenes, just with characters that started out in the relationship for something different and weren’t in a hurry to muddy the waters with sex, no matter their attraction to each other. True to this author’s style, every hot screen in the book is different. Location is different, position is different, words spoken are different, descriptive words are different. Super imagination that keeps the reader from reading the same scene repeatedly.

The story was a somewhat predictable HEA although this author always keeps things fresh by making the background story a little different from everyone else’s. I am not a hockey fan or non-fan for that matter. I just live in a part of the US where other sports are more prevalent so I am also usually not quick to read hockey based books, since I know nothing of the sport, but again, LOVE this author. Hockey did take a big role in the story, family background and life approach for Theo, but Lacey knew nothing of the sport so each thing that wasn’t known to someone like her or me, was explained simply, so that it was easily understood, not condescending and not drug out until the details made you want to skip over it.

This reader, who is not a hockey fan and not a book series fan is DYING for the next book already. How does this happen??? Oh right, spectacular writing. This book is definitely worth your time and a paid read or listen!
