As a young intern at an art gallery in Paris, Isabelle McAvoy meets Putnam Armstrong, wealthy, gentle, older, and secluded from the world. Isabelle’s relationship with Putnam, and her time at his château on the Normandy coast, are the stuff of dreams. But it turns real when she becomes pregnant, for she knows that marriage is out of the question.
When Isabelle returns to New York, she enters a new relationship that she hopes will be more stable and traditional. But she soon realizes she has made a terrible mistake and again finds herself a single mother.
With two young daughters and no husband, Isabelle finally and unexpectedly finds happiness and a love that gives her a third child, a baby as happy as her beloved father. And yet, once again, life brings dramatic changes.
Thank you to net galley and the publisher and Danielle Steele for letting me read yet another amazing book by her
Danielle Steel has created a family saga that is as enjoyable as it is thoughtful. Isabelle is a single mother over and over, finding love, and experiencing loss. Her daughters are very different women, and not always friends, until a series of crises and revelations bring them all together to celebrate blessings in disguise.
This was a great book. Danielle Steel has a another hit with this one. The characters were likeable, most of them anyways. I want to thank NetGalley for the chance to read this wonderful book for an unbiased opinion.
Blessing in Disguise by Danielle Steel. Years ago I used to read only Danielle Steel and this is probably one of her best books to date. My all time favorite was Wings. Remember to keep Kleenexes close by, look to be surprised. Blessing in Disguise I think is trying to tell you to look for good in the bad and you will find. Read it you will love it. A perfect Mother’s Day gift.
I loved this book, and once I started to read it, I fell into the plot and read it every chance I got.
Isabelle McAvoy had a passion for art at an early age and never lost that passion. When she was offered a job as an Intern at an art gallery in Paris, she was thrilled, and followed their strict employee policies.
When a rich American recluse in Normandy requests that Isabelle personally delivers a piece of art to his home, he becomes infatuated with her and the feeling starts to become mutual. But, he his not the type to be married and raise a family, due to a tragic accident, even when Isabelle becomes pregnant.
She takes her daughter back to the states, she finds another man that she has discovered is a "mistake" , then she finds herself pregnant again and then has two daughters to raise alone.
Finally, she finds a wonderful man that she has fallen for and the feeling is mutual, and she gives birth to another daughter. With three girls to raise basically on her own, she tries to build her career as an art onsultant, when a long ago secret comes to the surface, which brings her three uniquely half-sisters and herself into a closer knit unit.
As the expression goes, this is truly a "Blessing in Disguise", read this heartfelt book another winner by Danielle Steel, and feel the story in your own heart.
Great for yourself or as a gift.
This book is about the life of a woman from her early twenties to over sixty. She has three girls, each with a different father and becomes a well-known art consultant.
The beginning examined each of her relationships, including that of her father, and what was behind them. They were all different for reasons that only can be explained by reading this book. Her girls are similarly all different but like their fathers.
I was disappointed in the last 20% of the book. It felt like it was slapped together to finish up for a deadline. She got with him; she is happy, happy, happy; she instantly got a backbone; they’re together; he has a mom. Done.
Additionally, I didn’t feel that the characters were developed fully after Putnam and Isabelle separate. I am very saddened that Danielle Steel’s book are not the quality they were when she first became a household name.
I received an ARC from Random House Publishing Group through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book.
Blessing In Disguise is about a mother's journey while raising her three daughters through tragedy and triumph. I absolutely loved Isabelle, how strong she was throughout her life and no matter the ups and downs she never gave up. The writing is great, the characters are believable and the story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book through NetGalley.
Danielle Steel amazes again with Blessing in Disguise . She always finds a way to make sure you connect with the characters and are drawn into the story. This book has romance , hardship, and joy.
Isabelle goes to Paris for an internship
at a gallery and quickly falls in love with an older man. This starts a path that leaves her with three children and broken hearted. As her children grow older, they lead very different lives she cherishes the time she gets with them . Having always put her girls’ needs first , she is lucky to find a friend when she needs a little help herself..
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for an Arc for my honest review.
It’s been a while since I read a Danielle Steel book, but when I do, I know I am in for an enjoyable read. She gives us stories with deep connections and background and Blessing in Disguise is no different.
We meet Isabelle and her three adult daughters by different fathers. She loves them, but begins questioning her choices. As we learn her story, we learn of her past, present and future. There is love, loss and secrets. The journey was touching and emotional and had some amazing characters.
Happy reading!
. This book is not your typical Danielle Steel novel. There are no star-crossed lovers at the center of this book. Instead, there is Isabelle McAvoy, a woman who has loved and lost more than once, but for whatever reason love never seems to work out for her. Instead she has devoted her life to her three children each fathered by a different man and to her job. As the strong independent woman she has been forced to become, Isabelle is an admirable heroine and good role model for young girls teaching them that you cannot always rely on a man and it is best to be able to take care of yourself. Two of her ownt three girls take this a little bit too much to heart and are laser focused on their work to the detriment of any other areas of their life. Of course, this being a Danielle Steel novel, there is still plenty of romance for all. However, the most important love stories in this book are just kind of thrown in at the end and never really developed making the reader feel a little cheated. The story is still interesting though and at times sweet and touching, and the book is definitely worth reading.
An emotionally riveting family saga! The main character has the pleasure of knowing love in many fashions throughout her life, and though sadness and disappointment come knocking on her door on more than one occasion, she has the tenacity to live life to it's fullest time and time again. The pace of movement in the book didn't let the reader become too attached to any particular relationship, more so the plot centered on Isabelle and her children rather than the men in her life. I enjoyed it!
American Isabelle McAvoy knows it's going to be the time of her life when she lands an internship at a Paris art gallery at the tender age of twenty but she didn't know it was going to wield her one of the most kind and loving relationships she'll ever enjoy. Wealthy client Putnam Armstrong is the epitome of kindness and grace, but his reclusive lifestyle doesn't allow him the mental capabilities of handling a true relationship, but she's happy to accept what little time she can have with him before she returns to the US.
Upon returning home, Isabelle finds herself pregnant, and though her first born daughter is the light of her father's eyes, he can't bring himself to offer Isabelle more than his love from afar and all the support she could ever need in raising their daughter. She settles into life as a single mother and over the years allows herself to be swept off her feet by another man who turns out to be a con, but leaves her with her second daughter. Isabelle has no plans of ever falling in love again when the man who turns out to be one of her dearest loves enters her life. Their time together is passionate and sweet, and though a tragic ending unravels, she brings a third daughter into the fold.
Her art consulting business has really taken off and allows her to lead a fulfilling life as her children grow and flourish. When her girls have all flown the coop and settled into their own lives, she finds herself at a loss for what to do with herself. When possible changes make her reflect back upon her life, she decides to allow herself to unravel the secret she's been carrying with her for all of these years and attempt to put her life on the track she wants it to be. In doing so, she reconnects with her daughters in a way she never expected and finds inner peace and a satisfying future.
Blessing in Disguise by Danielle Steel. I've always been a fan of this author's books and this book hasn't disappointed me. With it's likable characters and a roller coaster of a storyline.
First, thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read an e-galley of this book.
Isabelle is a woman who has loved and lost. She has 3 beautiful daughters, who are all so different, and bring joy to her world. Later in life, she is faced with a situation where she needs help. None of her girls are able to help because of where they are in life.
Help comes to her world, and several instances of blessings in disguise show themselves.

⭐️Review!⭐️
I really enjoyed this book! I loved how the main characters showed that there are different ways to be a strong woman, as well as different ways to be successful. Parts of it were a little bit to religious for my personal taste, but overall I’d say that this is a great beach read! (Note my lack of beach 😩) If you love Danielle Steele, you won’t be disappointed with her newest novel. And it comes out on May 7th!
(I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!)
Being a fan of Danielle Steel for a long time, I was excited to read her newest book. I eased right into it and was enveloped by her familiar writing prose and style. She has an uncanny ability to connect the reader to her characters, and bring forth such emotion and compassion. The multiple tragedies and negativity was a little too much for me but I do still recommend the book to others.
Blessing in Disguise is a wonderful work of women’s fiction by acclaimed author Danielle Steel. Ms. Steel is one of my favorite authors and I had expectations that I would enjoy this novel, and I did.
Isabelle McAvoy is the mother of three adult daughters, each with a different father. The three relationships she’s had each ended with her alone and pregnant. She raises her daughters but finds herself alone and lonely after they leave home and begin their own lives. Isabelle and her daughters face life head-on and deal with triumphs and tragedies. Ultimately they each learn that they can persevere despite secrets and setbacks. Choices have consequences, but sometimes obstacles are a blessing in disguise.
Blessing in Disguise is a heartwarming success. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone looking to cry tears of sadness and joy within the space of moments.
My thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
I can always count on Danielle Steel books to be an easy and refreshing read. No F-bombs, no graphic sex scenes. Just interesting characters in a world very different from the one of most readers (or at least mine). Romance? Of course. It wouldn't be a Danielle Steel book without it. But the writing is good and the story enjoyable. Just a nice, relaxing read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
Lately, I've found Ms. Steel to be extremely hit or miss. This one, unfortunately is a miss for me. I found that the novel had very little depth. Blessing in Disguise is the story of Isabelle and her 3 daughters, Theo, Xela and Oona. From there, it details the 3 daughters' differences ad nauseum. We know that each daughter is very much like her father, and very little like the mother that raised them. Basically, that was the biggest take away from this book, as it was repeated over and over and over, almost as if the text was just copied and pasted nearly verbatim from one section to the next.
I think that Isabelle is supposed to be a sympathetic character, but I didn't really agree. I found her to be weak and ineffectual, her life molded by the men in it. She martyrs herself after each daughter, and as a result, none of her girls have a good male role model.
Honestly, as quick a read as this was, it was only because of the repetition. I was able to skim whole pages and still stay abreast of what was happening. It felt more like the template of a book than a real novel with meat on it.
I have read every single DS book in my 34 yrs of age and every one i have thoroughly enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!! In my opinion her books are like Pringles you can't read just one lol. If you enjoy one you will more than likely enjoy them all. This one is about Isabelle, a young woman who is unlucky in love but gets three children out of her relationships who she adores and lives for. We read about all of Isabelle's loves and you will fall in love with them too. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for my early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
I've loved Danielle's writing since I was a teenager, but this was not my favorite. I just wasn't a fan of Isabelle's story and really did not relate to her or her daughter's stories. Isabelle's character was made to sound like a desperate young woman who was looking for love in all the wrong places. She was made to be weak and it did not make for an enjoyable read.
The story is about Isabelle, a young mother who falls in love with a much older man, one who states no matter how much he loves her, he will never marry her. She has his child and then moves away where she finds love with another man. After having his child, he is arrested and imprisoned on a number of charges. Through her grief, she falls for a third man and has his child but he passes away suddenly, just shortly after the death of her father as well. Now she is a young 20 something single mother with three daughters. As the book progresses the lives of each of those daughter's as well as Isabelle's are explored.
If you like a good family drama this is for you, but if you want something more like Danielle's most popular works, it is not
