Danielle Steel never disappoints. I loved the story she weaved. Isabelle is a strong, tenacious woman. She follows her heart but it doesn't always work to her advantage. We follow her through her life with her three children, Theodora, Xela and Oona who have very different personalities. She endures many hardships along the way but holds together her family and her heart. This was a poignant story about family and love that touched me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Danielle Steel is one of my favorite authors and as always she has written an exceptional book about love and family. Well written with fascinating characters, each with their own wonderful personalities. This is a must read that will keep you up until you've finished the very last page. Enjoy! đź“š
a little cliche, even for Danielle Steel! I love her whole body of work (and have been reading since the 1980s) - all the characters were a little too exaggerated. However, I LOVE how all the loose ends tied up into a nice, neat bow and always am a sucker for a happy ending. This novel was a blessing in disguise itself, coming to be at a time where I needed to be carried away by good book. Quick read - probably would not reread but I enjoyed it all the same. Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to read #BlessingInDisguise by one of the most prolific authors of our time.
This is the story of Isabelle, an art consultant, in New York City. She has three relationships and three daughters from those relationships. Her life has always been surrounded with art which she loves We get to see each relationship and how she comes about to have a child in her world of art.
This book is by Danielle Steel so of course it is interesting. It has shows how women have strength and don't need a man in their world.
It was Danielle Steel who I first started reading back in the 1970’s and I have loved all of her books ever since. This is her latest book out and I was excited to get approved from NetGalley and the publisher for this early release. Another great book that kept me reading until the wee hours of the night! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the early release of this book. Due out May 7th.
3.5 Stars for this family drama/romance. I haven’t read a DS novel for quite some time, so this was a nice reprieve from historical fiction or heavier drama I usually enjoy. Great read for beach or a lounging weekend.
The story follows Isabelle from her early 20s to her 60s. Her life, loves, and children. In true DS fashion, a lot of turmoil but always a satisfactory ending.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is my own.
Blessing in Disguise by Danielle Steel is a wonderful heartwarming standalone novel that I read in one day, as I could not put the book down. This is a story revolving around an independent woman, building a successful career in the art world, who has three daughters with different fathers, and the relationship over time with their lives.
We meet our heroine, Isabelle McAvoy, when she is spending the summer in Paris, working as an intern in an art gallery. When she is assigned to deliver various paintings, she meets a wealthy recluse, Putnam Armstrong, who is an art connoisseur. In a short time, Isabelle will fall in love with the older, Putnam and spend many weeks visiting him, as they succumb to their feelings for each other. Isabelle knows there is no future for her with Putnam, as he is used to his ways as a loner, and cannot handle any kind of permanent relationship.
When she returns home to New York, she realizes that she is pregnant, and decides to keep the child, though her father warns her how difficult it will be for her, with no real income. Isabelle manages to get a job at an art gallery, where she will work her way up, and Putnam is determined to help support Isabelle for whatever she needs.
The friendship between Putnam and Isabelle was an important part of the story early on, as she and her daughter Theo, travelled to France every year to spend the month of August with Putnam. Though one month was all he could handle each year, he was very supportive, loyal and loving to Theo, as well as convincing Isabelle to find someone to love and marry.
Isabelle will eventually meet and marry another man, whom turns out to be a mistake, as he was a con man. When she realizes he was using her, she files for divorce, and is now also pregnant. She has another daughter, Xela, and then becomes pregnant again a few years later, when she falls in love with a wonderful man, who gets killed before they marry, and again she is pregnant with a third daughter (Oona). What follows is following Isabelle throughout her life of trials and tribulations, success, and dealing with her daughters as they grow up to lead their own lives.
I will not tell too much more, as you need to read this story for yourself. I fully enjoyed reading about Isabelle, who made a fantastic heroine, as we watch her lead an interesting life, and also see how life changes for each of her daughters. Blessing in Disguise was very well written by Danielle Steel. I wholly recommend that you read this wonderful insightful story.
Danielle Steel does it again. 4 stars. Blessing in Disguise is a heart-wrenching and heart-warming story tied up into one package.
Follow the main character Isabelle, through the last 30+ years of her life. Discover her loves, losses, successes, failures and her family dysfunction. Meet her children, her romantic interests and follow her on her travels abroad as a art dealer. It’s beautiful story that will bring you down, before it lifts you up. The characters were multi layered, with different personalities and stories. Blessing in Disguise will stay with you beyond the last chapter.
In Blessing in Disguise, Danielle Steel tells the story of four remarkable women. Isabelle McAvoy meets her oldest daughter’s father while interning in Paris. As he shared from the start, Putnam is not emotionally available to be a father and husband full-time. From there, she meets her middle child Xela’s father, who winds up being a con man. Isabelle has more than enough reason to be skeptical of love, but when she finally meets her true love, she has her third daughter Oona. What happens from there, without giving too much away, will test the resolve of Isabelle and all of her daughters. While not always believable, the book provides intriguing plot lines and characters great for escapist indulgence.
A friendly read about Isabelle and her three daughters - all with different personalities, goals, and histories. This story has its happy moments and sad moments, and moments of love and warmth.
Danielle Steel has been one of my favorite authors for as long as I can remember! She writes such in-depth characters and stories that you can't help but be dragged into it and have a hard time putting it down.
This is the story of Isabelle McAvoy, her life, her loves and her children. It is a typical Steel novel, filled with angst, tragedy, love and second, sometimes third chances.
I did think that the ending was a little quick and left me wanting more. However, I would still recommend this book to others and of course would read more from Danielle Steel.
BLESSING IN DISGUISE by DANIELLE STEEL is one woman's life journey. Though all the important people in her life, including her very different children. A fascinating look at Isabelle's life.
I read many of Danielle Steel's earlier novels, but nothing recently. What a great storyteller!
It's a story of a brave and strong woman, who raised 3 independent women. They realize, through circumstances beyond their control, that despite challenges they face, life is a blessing in disguise. The bad times we face bring us towards something good. Proving to her daughter's that she's not perfect, and made mistakes provided an understanding and empathy for the whole family. You need to always move forward to greet each day with an open heart and mind. Although the story is sad at times, overall it was an uplifting story.
I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher for an honest review. I can't wait to read more of her new works and recommend readers do too!
Isabelle has grown up loving art. She goes to Paris as an intern and leaves with more than a great leaning experience at the art gallery. This is the beginning of a new life for her with many ups and downs. She pushes threw the many hardships with her relationships with men and raising her children as best she can. And still as she find herself questioning what is left for her she finds many blessings in disguise! I found this book to be another of Danielle Steel's amazingly written books The characters and the whole story grabs you instantly! A page turning story from the beginning! I absolutely loved it! Thank you Net Galley and Random House publishing for my ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!
Classic Danielle Steel. Some might and do judge Isabelle for having three daughters by three different fathers- none of whom she married- but they don't know her whole story. This nicely told tale will pull you along through the ups and many many downs of Isabelle's life but know that she will always do right by her girls. This is a fast read, with characters who pop off the page. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Danielle Steele has written another lovely novel.Asstrong independent woman 3 daughters Emotional sad warm happy wonderful story .I always fall right in to her stories the world she creates in her books and always hate to finish and leave my new friends.#netgalley #randomhouse.
Danielle Steel is always a sure thing for me!! Blessing in Disguise follows Isabelle McAvoy over a 40(ish) year period, through her trials and tribulations as well as her success and triumphs. I loved the fact that Danielle Steel gives us such full scope on Isabelle’s relationships- with her father, her partners, and her daughters. Each of Isabelle’s three daughters had very different personalities when they were young and I really enjoyed how Danielle Steel showed us the domino effect their childhoods and upbringing had on their adulthood. There are well placed twists and turns that I truly didn’t see coming! As per usual, Danielle Steel hooked me immediately and kept me glued to my kindle until the last page! Blessing in Disguise is a 4.5 star gem that will definitely touch your heart! Every time I finish a Danielle Steel novel I find myself looking forward to starting another as soon as possible!!
Another great book by Danielle Steele! Isabelle has a lot of bad luck in life and love. But she keeps trying, keeps moving, and keeps motivating others. She doesn't give up. And neither does her family. Others in her circumstances might give up, but she chooses to see the bad as "blessings in disguise."
(Will post to Amazon and Goodreads once book is published.)
Blessing in Disguise is a typical DS book: a soothing read that makes one forget about the outside frazzled world. Isabelle grew up in the art world and that became her career. Her one flaw was choosing the wrong men to fall in love with and have children. The first was emotionally unavailable, the second was a con man, and the third was gone after a short time. She reared her three very different children alone and was accustomed to living her life in solitude until it all changed for her. The theme in this novel is constantly adjusting to life's bends in the road.
This is what Danielle Steel does best! A strong independent woman who despite all odds makes her own success. 3 beautiful daughters all different from each other but when needed it’s all always about family !
