There are many Welsh tales told within the pages of this book that is absolutely packed full of information. I will definitely be reading this again with a more in depth focus on the uses of herbs in particular. Highly recommended.
“The Mythic Moons of Avalon” by Jhenah Telyndru is a very worthy sequel to the author’s “Avalon Within”.
It’s worth noting, however, that, while you may wish to for scholastic background, you do not have to have read “Avalon Within” to full enjoy and learn from “Mythic Moons”.
“Mythic Moons” is based on the Women’s Mystery Tradition that is followed within the Sisterhood of Avalon, but again, you do not have to be a member to gain full benefit from Ms. Telyndru’s wisdom and knowledge.
Part One of this book outlines the foundation on which the rest of the information is based:
–What is Avalon?
–What are the phases of the Moon?
–What is the Avalonian Cycle of Healing?
–How does this lead us to the Avalonian Cycle of Revealing?
Within this modern Avalonian tradition, each moon has its’ own corresponding herb, one in which we learn to work with the plant and its’ energies, said energies based upon the moon phase and the corresponding Avalonian Goddess.
Ms. Telyndru explains how to explore these energetics and get to know them intimately, using the making off elixirs, meditations, herbal and personal journaling, immram (visualized journeys), scholastic knowledge, as well as our own intuitive wisdom.
Each named moon is discussed in full with it’s herbal ally, as well as the Avalonian Goddess that is honored at that particular time of the Cycle.
The myths for these Goddesses are based upon the Four Branches of The Mabinogi.
The author outlines how to immerse yourself within the energies of each herb and each moon, learning the workings and focus for each.
For those of you who love and study herb lore, this book is filled with invaluable information that will enhance your herbal work. For those of us who follow the Moon and Her phases, the knowledge and wisdom within the pages of this book can only strengthen our love for this beautiful, mystical orb.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves herbs, the Moon, the Goddess and wishes to further their studies. Obviously, it is even more recommended for those who follow this path in their personal journey.

Wonderful Book of Welsh Mythology and Lunar and Herbal Magic
I've always been drawn to the mysteries of the Moon and of the concept of Avalon. This book is a beautiful blending of gentle and introspective lunar magic and power and that mystical isle. The author is very clear that this book comes from her own deep experience and research, and I appreciate her honesty and transparency. What she has created is a beautiful book combining Welsh mythology, herbal and lunar magic, and a personal way of healing that includes meditation and other forms of introspective work that helps you better appreciate what are often hidden aspects of yourself. The book is jam-packed with information that can best be appreciated by close reading, and perhaps rereading, and reflecting on what the author has stated and applying it to your own life. In my case at least, this led to some lovely moments of contemplation that calmed frazzled nerves and helped me to a greater appreciation of my deeper needs. Highly recommended.
This was an interesting book to read and I really enjoyed reading it. I plan on buying a physical copy because I feel like this is a book that I need to physically hold in order to truly appreciate it.
The Mythic Moons of Avalon is a book of self discovery. It teaches about the phases of the moon and how herbs can be used in conjunction with the moon phases to achieve self healing and exploration of our inner selves. There are many Welsh tales told within the pages of this book that is absolutely packed full of information. I will definitely be reading this again with a more in depth focus on the uses of herbs in particular. Highly recommended.
The best thing about The Mythic Moons of Avalon is that Jhenah Telyndru has done the work. And by that I mean that she doesn't try to pass it off as historically accurate mystic gravy, but she presents her own practice and study in a way that is meaningful and relevant to anyone wishing to connect further to the Isle of Avalon. I would recommend this book fro the Nine Waves mediation alone, which has been a wonderful addition to my own personal repertoire.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I got this because I have a life long love with anything that is about the Mystic Isle. I love the power and magick that is behind Avalon. I like all the lunar calendar and recipes. I added some of this to my journal and leaning more about the Avalon and the mystical powers that is holds in the world of magick. I am always looking to the Path of the Priestess. IT is a path of spirituality it makes know there is more to this world then we all know.
Loved this book, it was fascinating, although unfortunately some very interesting parts were not readable due to a formatting issue.
Such a interesting read to understand and learn a bit more of the moons and herbs and their affects on us.
With amazing writing, such easy to understand and to kept your interest as she explains it to you.
A good pagan/witchcraft book. This was a unique and original look at the practice and I enjoyed it very much.
In her new book Jhenah Telyndru, also known as the Mother of Avalonian revival, gives her readers a thorough insight into the moon cycle and her corresponding plants and the Goddesses of Avalon. This is both part work book and part study of the matriarchal story lineage in the tale of King Arthur to the Welsh myths of the Island of Avalon. I highly recommend this to anyone not only interested in magic, moon work and herbalism but also Celtic culture.
*Please note this was a difficult and unpleasant reading experience due to the quality of the digital proof. I only kept reading due to my interest in the authors work.

This author presents a wealth of information of Welsh tales, moon phases and herbs. While I actually read The Mabinogion many years ago and then again a few years ago I had some difficulty with it. Many tales are retold here in a more palatable manner but the greatest themes to actually buy this book are the herbs and moon phases imo. Very in depth on healing
A great read and book teaching self discovery. It helps to understand the working of the phases of the moon in conjunction with herbs to find your inner self. It's a fascinating look at another side of healing yourself. The herbs and their uses are explained in detail, along with a warning to know what you are using before exploring this. Reading about this subject was an amazing experience. I recommend it highly. I received this book from Net Galley and Llewellyn Publishing. I voluntarily read this book.
If you liked/loved her other book, you will enjoy this. A more focused book on the moon cycle and how it intertwined with the Avalon environment. It is jammed packed with information.
Oh my goodness, this book. First, I absolutely devoured this book. I stayed up way past my bedtime, burnt our dinner (#noreally) and was completely distracted for 2 days, as I couldn't seem to put the book down or get it out of my head. It spoke to me in ways that I wasn't expecting, and didn't know that I needed. If I could hug the author breathless, I would do so in a heartbeat. The Mythic Moons of Avalon was healing for me on a soul-level, and I absolutely must get a physical copy of this book, just to be able to hold it in my hands. A definite recommend!!
I loved this book! Even if I only read her chapter on Shadow work, that alone was worth it. I highly recommend this book
A fascinating read, a bit out of my comfort zone but interesting and informative nonetheless.
I liked the style of writing and how the book is organized.
I will surely read it again because I think there are other lessons to be learned.
Recommended!
Many thanks Llewellyn Worldwide and Netgalley for this ARC
