A Welcome At Our door ( Amish Homestead #4 )
By: Amy Clipston
A Welcome At Our Door is book four in Amish Homestead. I really enjoyed this story. I was drawn in at the start and did not want to put it down. I was not disappointed. It is a fast read. I caught myself with tears in my eyes while reading it. I would advise you to keep a box of Kleenex near you for this book. This is a story about falling in love outside of their faith. I felt so sorry for the couple. There is loss , friendship, love , and faith. This story really got to me , but I loved it.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher and NetGalley, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Amy closes her latest series with the story of Cindy Riehl. Cindy is the youngest of the Riehl children and has been struggling with joining the Amish church. This struggle has been highlighted in previous books in the series so it was nice to finally discover what would happen in Cindy's life.
I enjoyed this story and found it to be a quick read. Knowing a lot of the characters in this book from reading the series it was like meeting up with old friends and finding out what was going on in their lives. Amy has the gift as a writer of making readers forget they are reading about fictional characters instead of living, breathing people. In addition to catching up with the human characters in the book, we are also introduced to a cow named Cucumber and a dog named Bruce who brought a bit of fun to a story that had its fair share of sadness.
Although I loved the story I would have liked to see a bit more conflict and struggle between Cindy and Drew as they decided what path their lives should take as far as being Amish or not. It seemed as if they were just a bit too agreeable when it came to the big decisions of their lives and were a bit too willing to just go along with what the other one wanted. I would have liked to have seen a bit more as far as the decision making for what would be a tremendous life change for either of them based on the decision they ended up making.
All in all, this was an enjoyable read and one that will be going on my keeper shelf. Fans of the genre are sure to enjoy this story from one of the best authors of Amish fiction. This book could be read and enjoyed as a standalone and would be an awesome way to introduce someone to Amy's books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.
Oh WOW This book was simply amazing!
I have not read very many books by Amy Clipston but this one was Great. Such a compelling story about listening to what God has for you even though it is hard and you do not always have support. God uses these times to grow us and show us the way we are suppose to go. A truly great read that made my heart happy ! I highly recommend getting this book into your hands!
I volunteered to read this book from Zondervan Fiction in exchange for my honest feedback, the thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.
Amy will tug at your heart with the final book of the series. Follow Cindy and the hard choices she must make. Drew is a new character that we meet in this story. One of my favorites so far. Warning have lots of tissues with you for this book.
I adored this book. I loved the themes of love and family and faith - they were so strong and gorgeously written. The pacing of this journey was realistic and captivating and the connection between Drew and Cindy was beautiful.
This was my first book by Amy Clipston and I'm sure it won't be the last.
I received an ARC from Zondervan Fiction in exchange for an honest review.

Christian Fiction and Amish really do well at our library and this series by Amy Clipston is very popular with our patrons. We already have a lot of people really anticipating the release of this book and I must say they will not be disappointed. The struggle that Cindy was going through is a common problem that everyone experiences one way or another and loosing what you had and taking it for granted is something we all do and we don't really have it until we loose it all. Loosing a loved one is definitely hard and this book really examined what the optimist viewpoint was and how there is always a lesson learned if you have a positive outlook even if it is something you've never noticed before.
We will consider adding this title to our Christian Fiction collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

A Welcome at Our Door
By Amy Clipston
I loved this final addition in the Amish Homestead series. I really enjoyed the thought-provoking characters of Drew and Cindy. I was drawn into their lives and the challenges they faced together. Amy Clipston has an incredible way with words and an immense ability to craft believable yet flawed characters that are easy to relate too.
The reason I have rated this book a four instead of a five is the ending was entirely too predictable and parts of the story were a tad long-winded. However, this book will appeal to a great many readers especially those who enjoy a sweet Amish book. I highly recommend.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. The views given are my own. #AWelcomeAtOurDoor #NetGalley
I love visiting the Riehl family. We have watched them grow, fall in love, grieve, and find happiness. However, Cindy Riehl has been stuck in a rut. She has been grieving the death of her Mother for years. As her grief grows, her questions about her faith and family do as well. She feels like everyone has moved forward while she has stayed in one place. When a "English" neighbor crosses her path, Cindy begins to feel alive again. Will Drew be the answer to all her questions? Will her world be turned upside down?
I love Amy Clipston books because they pull the reader in. Her characters are real. They feel love, hurt, pain, sadness, and peace. The reader can really feel the emotions. I love how this story tells the story of many who have lost and are not able to put one foot in front of the other; Meanwhile the world continues to spin and move on. I received this book through Netgalley. A review was not required.
This final book in the Amish Homestead series finds the youngest daughter, Cindy still grieving the death of her mother. Cindy has felt disconnected for years when everyone else in the family moved on with their lives a little too quickly in her opinion. When the next door neighbor hires a new helper, Cindy finds herself falling for the Englisher, Drew. Both have suffered family losses and can relate. This is an insightful view the of Amish culture with a twist at the end. Highly recommended!
This was an interesting and unique Amish story. It's not too often that we read a story in which a young woman is unsure about her Amish faith and begins dating someone outside the community. I enjoyed reading about her struggle and the reasons why she struggled.
My only complaint is I wish we would have seen more into the future. I would have loved to read out they adapted to their new life and what challenges that brought. It seemed a little too easy once the decision was made.

What a lovely conclusion to Amy Clipston's Amish Homestead series. I have read them all and enjoyed this one the best. We have been with the family through all of these books, and now we find Cindy Reihl's story.
As Cindy develops a relationship, which becomes more than just a neighborly relationship with an English neighbor, Drew, we learn of the many hardships that can occur when a relationship outside of the Amish faith happens. Many losses can occur, but also the love of family, community and each other brings many issues to the story.
This was a wonderful book of allowing us to see that the Amish deal with those hard life situations, just as the English.
I highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A Welcome at Our Door is book four from Amy Cliptson's series, Amish Homestead series. I think this is my favorite of the series. I enjoyed this story and am giving it five stars.
I think this just might be my new favorite Amy Clipston book! This book tackled a hard topic and ended beautifully. She knows how to pull at my heartstrings! I absolutely loved it! There were a few parts that almost had me in tears. I know that this is one book that I will have to read again and again! I’m eagerly awaiting new books from Amy Clipston!
I was given a complimentary copy of this ebook from the author, but was not required to write a review. The thoughts and comments are my own.
A Welcome at Our Door is a very well written inspirational romance. I enjoyed the plot and Ms. Clipston’s writing. I recommend this book.
I think this is Amy Clipston’s best book yet. She’s written a compelling Amish story that sets up an almost impossible situation between Cindy and Drew and their desire to get married. Cindy has grown up in an Amish family, but does not feel drawn to join the church. Drew is an Englisher who is a Christian, but has been told by Cindy’s dad that if he marries Cindy, she will be shut out of their family circle for marrying outside their faith. Cindy finds herself caught between two worlds and not knowing where she truly belongs.
This is an emotional story. The author has done a good job of conveying how both sides feel love and concern for Cindy’s decisions, and that gives this book a true-life feel to it. It’s also interesting to watch Cindy, Drew, and her family members grow spiritually as they face this conflict. I got quite involved in this story and kept reading to find out how everything would come together. The ending was not what I originally thought would happen, but it was a very satisfying one.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Cindy is busy hanging laundry when the family cow makes a run for the neighbors. She chases after it and comes upon the new farm hand Drew who is a Englisher. He helps her get the cow home with his sweet dog. Drew comes to dinner after and invite for helping with the cow. They both find themselves attracted to each other. Cindy knows she cannot be with someone who not Amish. Drew does not understand all the hurt Cindy has and why she hasn't joined the church. They start sneaking and seeing each other. When her family finds out her father insist she not see Drew and bans him from seeing Cindy. Cindy and Drew realize how much they truly love each other and decide to get married regardless of what her family thinks. None of them will talk to her or have anything to do with her. Right before Christmas she finds she is with child. Drew and Cindy are excited about their growing family. When tragedy strikes and they lose their baby. Drew calls on her family to help comfort her. When he sees how the community helps each other he makes a decision to become a part of the church and he and Cindy join together..
Falling in love with a person outside of their faith could cause much trouble for the main characters. From the beginning, their friendship turns to love and the possibility of a future together is considered although it brings concerns. This story is filled with love, faith and family. I enjoyed this one. I received a complimentary copy. No review was required.
A new book by one of my favorite authors. This is the final book in this series. I am both happy and sad. In this charming book filled with faith, family, and a friends, we get Cindy's story. I will miss my friends but am so glad Cindy got her story! If you love Amish fiction, or even if you don't, if you have read the previous books or you are new to Amy and this series, You will be enchanted by this book. Thank you netgalley for the arc of this book. The opinions are solely my own.
Cindy Riehl is struggling. Her mother passed away unexpectedly and she is unable to move forward with her life. Her family has continued on with life and because they have, she feels isolated. She meets the neighbors helper, an Englisher named Drew. They are drawn together by shared experience. Will Drew lure Cindy into leaving her community?
Amy Clipston develops characters that feel like friends. You feel emotionally attached and hope troubled characters will find peace. Reading this book is a nice treat that takes you away from the stresses of everyday living.
We all deserve to read a great book that comforts our soul and this is one you need to experience.
The Amish are known for their hospitality, especially with outsiders. But if an outsider tries to infiltrate the community, the hospitality becomes chilly, even frigid.
Cindy Riehl is the last child of Vernon to be living at home. Her mother had passed away when she was fairly young and she's been out of sorts ever since. But when her cow, Cucumber, gets out of her pen and goes to the neighbor's farm, Cindy meets Drew, the handyman living in the Dawdi House.
The one issue between Cindy and her daad is that she has not been baptised or joined the church yet. When Drew comes along, he becomes another wedge to push them apart. The unintended fall-out is that Cindy becomes estranged to her whole family.
Drew and Cindy spend much time in prayer, trying to figure out what direction God is leading them. The denouement is wrapped up in the answer to the prayers.
I know that there are Amish who stick to the rules like epoxy, and there are Amish who bend the rules to fit their own ideas. Vernon Riehl had a bit of that characteristic. And Vernon ruled his family with an iron fist--even those who were already married.
Amy Clipston is a talented author of Amish fiction and A Welcome at Our Door is one of her better works. She has shown that Amish are faulty people who can have wrong ideas and wrong actions just as much as Englisch people can.
This is a five star book, two thumbs up, and a Cucumber Cow to shake things up a bit.
My thanks to Zondervan Fiction for allowing me to read and review this book.
