The Farmer’s Bride is a fun, enjoyable Amish fiction novel. Kathleen Fuller tells the story of Martha Detweiler who tries to escape attention from numerous young men hoping to be a possible suitor for her. Another resident comes up with the perfect plan...Martha and Seth Yoder can appear to be dating to ward off other potential suitors. What could go wrong with that idea?! This is an entertaining story with well developed characters that was a little slow paced at times. I recommend this book to fans of Amish fiction.

I read an interview with the author, Kathleen Fuller. I was interested to see why she chose to write about the Amish. She said “Even though the Amish live a different lifestyle, as Christians our beliefs are the same ... We love Jesus and really, what better thing to have in common than our love for Him.” Her appreciation of the Amish culture is evident in her writing. Many Amish romances are written in stilted language with predictable plots. The Farmer’s Bride is quite different. The language flows and the plot unfolds naturally.

The notion of a single Amish woman not actively seeking a suitor is a theme rarely explored. The characters are all developed and not stereotypical. The strengths and talents of the heroine are celebrated, rather than stifled as is usual in books of this genre. The story was very readable and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book. Martha is the only single woman in her Amish Community and is constantly running from all the unwanted attention. Seth doesn't have time for a girlfriend, Cevilla the town's matchmaker suggests that Martha and Seth pretend they are dating.

This is a very good book and an easy read, I highly recommend it.

I couldnt wait to read this book! This is not your typical Amish story, its so much more! This is book 2 but if you havent read the first book The Teachers Bride, grab your credit card now, trust me it's worth a few dollars. I coulfnt read Farmer's Bride fast enough. Kathleen Fuller's Amish Brides of Birch Creek series just continues to get better with book 2 in the series. If you haven't read book 1, The Farmer's Bride can stand alone but is MUCH more enjoyable with the knowledge of many of the characters that continue from book 1.. The Farmer's Bride focuses on Martha & Seth's stories while continuing the stories of characters from book 1 (The Teacher's Bride). Great book!

This is not your usual Amish romance novel - the two main characters, Seth and Martha are brought together by Cevilla, an older woman who suggests that the two pretend that they like each other in order for Martha to escape the attention of the single Amish men in the town, as she was the town’s only unmarried woman!
They are both unwilling to do this until Martha escapes a party and finds Seth’s secret shed and he listens to her story of needing a break from being hassled constantly and he agrees to pretend to like her.
Then another interfering older woman moves into town with her family and she tries very hard to pair up her granddaughter Nina with Seth. But Seth and Martha begin to like each other...
You will have to read the book for yourself to find out the surprising events that happen in this small Amish town.

This is a book full of emotions. This is a book that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This is not the typical Amish romance book, it is so much more! I am not new to author Kathleen Fuller’s works, and I’ve always enjoyed her writings. Her stories grab you right from the start. The characters are lovable and make you feel like you’re right there with them, feeling what they’re feeling and going through what they’re going through. When it comes to these characteristics, The Farmer’s Bride is no exception.

Enter Martha. Poor Martha is struggling with something that most would consider a plus. She’s being pursued by not just one, but a number of young men in her district. Instead of being happy about it, she dreads it, and that’s her secret. From the beginning, the reader is drawn into her plight and gets the sense of what Martha is going through.

Enter Seth. The furthest thing from his mind is dating. He’s too busy with his own secret, a secret that Martha accidentally gets drawn into. And there begins the camaraderie between the two. Where it goes next will take the reader on a fun ride full of just enough twists and turns to keep you drawn in.

The story will make you laugh, hold your breath, reflect, sigh, and much more. But through it all, there are also lessons in trust, forgiveness, overcoming past hurts, and love. All of this is the wonderful combination that makes The Farmer’s Bride a most delightful read.

There are so many players here that there are many potential combinations (for relationships) until at least halfway through the book.....which created a lot more intrigue! On some level, you know how it's going to play out in the end, but this doesn't follow the same formula that so many Christian romances do, and I liked that. The end also leaves itself open to at least two or three more books with different character sets. If you like Amish romances, but are tired of the same old formulas, this is the perfect book to hit reset!

The Farmer's Bride caught my interest from the very beginning and kept me interested until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, especially Martha, Cevilla, and Delilah. Their problems and antics made me giggle many times. I like the way the ending sets up for the next book in the series, and I want to go back and read the other books that came before this one. Ms. Fuller is one of my favorite authors of books centered in the Amish community!
