"Resurgent" by Brynley Blake is an engaging and steamy romance that explores themes of second chances and forgiveness. The book follows two characters with a complicated history who must confront their past to embrace their future. Blake's writing is passionate and filled with intense chemistry, making it a satisfying and entertaining read. With its captivating plot and well-developed characters, "Resurgent" is a book that will leave romance enthusiasts eager for more.
I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
The perfect story plot, Navy Seal and ... actually what more do you need?
Final trilogy instalment this can totally be read by itself. Charlotte and Liam are super characters. The chemistry skyrockets and the rescue is brilliant and everything tied together brilliantly.
A super adventure to not walk past!
A Navy SEAL story of a man who makes a poor decision and winds up risking the lives of those he cares for.
Kidnappings, drugs, weapons, and a lot of heat.
Dive off cliffs, running from harm, and into the arms of the one man she thought sh'ed never see again. Will Charlotte and Liam get a second chance?
Read to find out.
This is the third book in the Phoenix rising series. I haven’t read the other books and I was able to follow the plot easily. It seems to me that each book in the series is a standalone and can be read without having to read the others.
I love a good contemporary romance with a hot, muscular and smart hero with a pretty, smart , and sassy mouth heroine. The reader will get all that and more with this book. I loved that this book was funny, fast paced, and the banter between Liam and Charlotte was off the charts hot.
The reader needs to be warned that there are some elements of BDSM, but nothing hard core. It’s important to mention this as some readers don’t like any aspect of BDSM and if it wasn’t mentioned in this review, it would be remiss of me. I loved the BDSM elements as I thought it brought the two characters closer together and made the time they had together in and out of the bedroom more meaningful.
Charlotte made Liam work for her submission, as well as her love, but she wasn’t a bitch about it and it was funny and entertaining to read the interaction between the two of them. That being said, Liam was no pushover and he made Charlotte work too. He was an alpha male and put up with no crap, but he was funny, gentle, and sensitive. How can any woman resist that combination?
Now I want to read the other books in the series to find out what happened before. The question needs to be asked: will there be another book in this series? Also, what new books will be written? This inquiring mind needs to know, you know?
Pick up this book to begin a Brynley Blake binge-a-thon. It was just so, so good.
This is my first read by this author and I loved it!! Liam is a Navy SEAL who has lost his memory and is wanted because he happens to be a traitor to his country? Huh, que the confusion. As he is trying to figure out what the hell has happened he finds our that his best friend's sister has been kidnapped. Liam starts to regain part of his memory and goes in search of Charlotte. Charlotte is a woman who likes to be organized, Lol. She is a fierce heroine and gives as good as she gets. The chemistry between them is explosive. Liam and Charlotte work together to clear his name. A very well written book, full of action and HEA. 4.5 stars*****

Ahhhhhhh Resurgent was just such a wonderful book and I just thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn’t want to put this book down. I just fell in love with this wonderful story and it’s wonderful characters. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.
Charlotte Windsor likes to plan everything, from the most minute details of her personal life to the elaborate weddings she pulls off for her clients. Scarred by her past, staying in control makes her feel safe. Besides, the only thing in her life she didn’t plan—an explosively erotic one-night stand with daredevil playboy and Navy SEAL heartthrob Liam Prescott—resulted in heartbreak. He’d disappeared without a word, and six months later he was dead. But in the blink of an eye, Charlotte’s perfectly ordered life is turned upside down when she’s kidnapped by the Mexican cartel and then rescued hours later in a daring middle-of-the-night raid by Liam, who is apparently very much alive and sexier than ever. Trusting her life to the gorgeous and confident Navy SEAL is easy. Her heart is another matter.
I didn’t realize that this was the third book in a series and they were interconnected, but I did enjoy it. I liked both main characters and the story. I look forward to reading more from this author.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Resurgent by Brynley Blake is part of the Phoenix Rising series about Seals and the women they fall for. And how about the cover? (Insert waggling eyebrows) I have to admit that I had never heard of Brynley Blake or this series, but I plan to read the others.
Liam's younger sister is best friends and business partners with Charlotte. Charlie has been in love with Liam for forever and he has fallen for her, but he dies on a mission. He's really been hospitalized with burns and amnesia..
Charlotte is mistakenly kidnapped by a drug lord who thinks they have Liam's sister. When Liam rescues her they have to spend an extended period of time together and their feelings for each other come back. Of course it's complicated for lots of reasons, but by the end tadaaaaaa happily ever after.
Action, romance, a Navy SEAL, intrigue, betrayal, memory loss and a girl with a plan. This is a cute read that does not stop. The characters and storyline are always moving and answering questions while finding new obstacles. The memory loss and intrigue create an interesting opportunity where Liam and Charlie must work together and by doing so learn more about each other.
The scenes are steamy and the characters are well developed. Even the side characters were vivid and engaging. The doctor in Mumbai is precious and so is the tattoo artist. This is part of a series, but I did not know that until I went to see what other books this author wrote so I could read more! There are two other couples in this story, but the way they appear in the book I did not feel as though I was missing any details on the group dynamics. Fun read and group of characters!
Thank you NetGalley, Entangled and Brynley Blake and for letting me read this book and sharing my opinions!
Unfortunately this is not a stand-alone book and is a part if a trilogy series in which I've not had the pleasure of reading. Perhaps it's best to state that is the book description or blurb to inform other readers that have not had the opportunity to read the first two installments as well. Unfortunately it would have been hard for to grasp the story, characters and concept so I have decided to not finish the book. "Resurgent" will most likely be picked back up again in the future once I read the previous books in the series. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for taking the time to provide me an ARC of this novel.
I enjoyed the story with it's blend of mystery, sweet, heat, action and romance. I would have probably enjoyed the story even more if I had realized it was part of a series. The book can be read as a standalone, but there are events and characters from previous books. The book opens with a flashback with Liam and Charlotte laying the ground work for the present day story. I will most likely reread the series from the beginning.
I enjoyed this book but found that it was the third book in the series and kind of wished that I would have read the first 2 books prior to this one. It is probably considered a stand alone since the author did a good job of referring back to the prior books so it wasn't absolutely necessary to have read them. I just prefer to have the whole back story when reading a book.
There was plenty of action and adventure as well as a steamy romance so it kept my interest throughout as the story evolved. I enjoyed the authors' writing and will read more books by her in the future. I did receive a free copy of the story in exchange for my honest review.
Resurgent works as a standalone. Brynley Blake does an excellent job of filling in any gaps so the reader feels the experience is complete. What an entertaining experience this novel was! I fell for the characters, I was drawn into the story (and the heat) by the very first scenes. There is an over arcing mystery that provides a bit of suspense. There are passion filled interludes that are placed appropriately in the narrative and actually move the story along. I am now headed to find the first two books in the series, I am confident they will also be first rate.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. This book was intriguing and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Liam, a Navy Seal, Loses his short term memory after a rescue attempt and a bomb goes off. Is he really behind the selling of weapons and a trader or one of the good guys.?
Did he really fall for Charlotte or is their relationship just a one night stand with no future?
Lots of questions and mystery will be answered in this book. Definitely a must read.
Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a decent military romance. Liam and Charlotte have known each other for a while and one night while vacationing they have a one night stand. He goes off to Afghanistan and she is told he's dead. Of course he reappears when she's captured by members of the cartel.
The story was action packed but the chemistry between the two main characters felt forced and rushed. We didn't have time to really see their love develop. If you like quick, no frills romance this one is for you.
This is a quick read that’s part of a series, but the author promises can be read as a standalone. However, I’ve seen other reviewers mention a person will get much more out of the story by reading them in order (this is book three).
One thing that won’t appeal to all readers of adult (as in, not YA or NA) romances: Resurgent is written in the first person.
Is amnesia making a comeback as a theme? This book uses the trope, and it’s the first one I’ve come across in years that does. However, I have seen at least one editor recently requesting amnesia manuscripts. Everything old is new again…
Because of its length, this is a fast-paced book (appreciated in the romantic suspense genre), and I do think because of that, reading in order is preferable so that you know the characters better.
The series seems to have a devoted following, but I must admit I prefer books about the over-twenty-fives to be written in third person.
Awesome story with an intriguing storyline. Good well-written dialogue. I so enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by Brynley Blake.
I had no idea this was part of a series, but I still enjoyed it and will now have to go back read the previous ones.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance read, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
