Lori Anderson, having left her life as a housewife for an adventurous backpacking journey, finds herself living aboard a yacht in the Caribbean, falling in love with a man and enjoying idyllic days in the turquoise waters. Her life seems picture-perfect, full of sun, dolphins, and sunsets.

However, despite the allure of her new life, Lori is unexpectedly homesick, missing her grown-up family and the familiar comforts of her old London life. When she’s called back home, the reality of her previous life feels draining and unappealing. The bustling city she once found exciting now feels exhausting, and the endless rain only amplifies her sense of disconnection and longing for something more.

Having read and enjoyed the first book in this series (I hadn't initially realised that this was the 2nd book in a series), albeit finding the constant tense changing from past to present (for no apparent reason) rather frustrating, I picked up this one. Lori is embarking on another travel adventure but is then called back to the UK when her mother falls ill.
I like the characters in the book but there are many mistakes; I'm no editor but surely these should have been picked up? As well as the alternating past and present tenses, there are also spelling mistakes (busses instead of buses for example) and saying that giving up fish as well as meat makes a person a vegan - err no it doesn't! Vegetarians don't eat either meat or fish. Vegans also don't eat dairy, eggs or honey. This kind of thing sadly spoils the joy of any book and made it a somewhat frustrating read at times.
Such a great pity as the underlying story is lovely; I would recommend investing in a proofreader though to overcome these errors.

A gorgeous story with such a beautiful setting. I loved seeing the second chance at love Lori found and I can't think of a more beautiful place for that to happen than the Caribbean.

I wasn't aware this was the second book in a series but not having read the first didn't make much of an impact,

I had high hopes for this one! I’m a mom and reading the synopsis it thrilled me to think about the fun that’s ahead when your child grows up. It was sad though to be honest. There’s something hard about children growing up and I feel like maybe this could of touched some on that.

Thank you Netgalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Backpacking Housewife Series. I didn’t realize this when I first starting reading it. I just read the synopsis on it, and thought it sounded good! I was able to follow along and didn’t realize this was book 2 until the end.

Lori discovered that her ex husband had been cheating on her, and decides to back her bags and travel the world. Lori meets Ethan who is working on conservation projects, and decides to join him. Lori is starting to find herself and what she wants out of life. Along their journey they come into some problems with some of the projects.

This book was really fun and funny and I loved the dedication and adventures they go on. All the challenges that go on in this book are turned into light hearted humor.

This story was packed with everything. It had elements of adventure, romance, finding yourself, and family dilemmas. I thought it was a really enjoyable and quick read. I am going to go back and read the first in the series too. But, I would suggest this book if you’re looking for a quick adventure and romance read!

I absolutely love reading about Lori! She’s fantastic! Such a strong independent woman. Granted she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted. Beautifully written, such wonderful characters to support Lori on her journey! I really hope there’s going to be another book.

Lori didn’t let the ultimate betrayal of her husband and best friend’s affair get her down in the dumps. Nope she grabbed life by the horns and went off on adventures around the world meeting the infamous environmentalist Sir Ethan Goldman and falling in love. This story is about family, one woman’s sheer determination to do what’s right and forgiveness. It’s a lovely book that really got my taste for wanderlust flowing. Lori travels to some exotic places in her quest to get the island of Ethan’s dreams in husband hands. I also learnt about conservation too.

Wow, well I knew I had loved the first Backpacking Housewife book, but I think I may adore this second one even more!

Read in an afternoon poolside, I was whizzing through the pages of this action packed story with a plot and sort of adventure most would never encounter in a lifetime.

It is an exhilarating read of travel, both to exotic places but also for me much closer to home, but also a story of family, and trying to work out what your heart really desires.

I'm absolutely loving this next step in Ethan and Lori's lives, and even just hearing what they get up to in the bit between the two books is exhausting but eye opening.

There is also a keen theme of animal conservation running through this book, and I love how they are always trying to save the planet.

With every book I'm reading of Janice Horton's, she is excelling herself and getting better and better.

I have loved discovering the British Virgin Islands in this book, especially the more remote ones, and all the travel aspects are so well described, it was like I was there beside them.

Although only present for a small bit, Monty was completely fabulous, and I loved getting to know him.

Wonderful book from a fabulous author, what more could a girl want from her holiday reading!

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I didn't finish this, but I made it about 1/4 the way through. Take this review with a grain of salt. It simply was not what I was looking for after reading the synopsis. The writing and the story felt shallow, and I didn't like the direction things were heading. It definitely seems on the lighter side of things.

After finding her husband and wife in bed together this wife packs a bag and leaves everything behind! Janice brings to life this fantasy many of us have of travels through the islands of South East Asia. Good book.

I loved the second book in the Backpacking Housewife series. Lori is still with Ethan who works on conservation projects and we share more adventures in wonderful places, so that we can imagine taking the same adventures. The locations are stunningly described and leave you wanting to start travelling yourself.
Lori has lots of decisions and problems to think about in this book and you are wanting everything to work out for a happy ever after.
You can escape your old life- but you still have family ties pulling your emotions and making the decisions harder to make.
I would love to read more in this series,

The next instalment for the Backpacking Housewife, currently soaking up the Caribbean sunshine. All is not a bed of roses, however, as she finds herself yearning for her old life. An amusing, relaxed read with a bit of everything thrown in. Can be read as a standalone even if you have not read the first in the series. Enjoyable eacapism.

I absolutely loved the first title in this series and couldn't wait to get my hands on the second. I love the travel aspect to these books and the exotic locations always give me itchy feet and make me want to jump on a plane to explore. Thanks to the author's travels the descriptions are rich in detail and it's easy to get swept away to a Caribbean island. The story encapsulates beautifully how we can be torn in so many directions by the people we love and the endless guilt as we try and find the right balance. I couldn't but it down and would highly recommend it.
