Absolutely smashed it! Fantastic book. Enough cakes to make you hungry, action to keep you hooked and romance to make you swoon. Funny and engaging, a complete corker of a book. Find a cosy nook and devour it in one fell swoop.

Thank you NetGalley

Enjoyed the book. Definitely a fun read and would give it 3.5 stars. I immediately loved Stevie, more after meeting her mom and sister. They were truly horrid people. Aunt Peggy definitely knew what she was doing with her will. Stevie's tea shop sounded like a lovely place to eat with all the delicious baked goods and not to mention Peggy, the black cat, who constantly sneaks into the shop.

Loved the story, writing style and characters. I'm pretty sure Allegra was that miserable because she wasn't eating all the yummy food. It takes a special kind of someone to be purposely that mean. Loved the scene with Stevie and Leanne drunk in the pouring rain and Nick running out of the shop because he thinks he sees a ghost. The book is all about friendship and helping each other out, plus a little romance.

Definitely recommend the book. I wouldn't mind reading more about Tanglewood and find out what Stevie and her friends are up to. There's Leanne with all her brothers, Cassandra with her forever leaking house and Tia. I'm sure Betty has some great stories to tell. I look forward to reading more books by the author (even if they aren't about Tanglewood).

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Canelo through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

First time I read a Lilac Mills book and I wasn't really sure what to expect. And let me tell you... I really loved what I saw! Yes, I enjoyed this novel so much! It's a book about second chances, about small community spirit but also about yummy cakes and a lovely tea shop. There is also a nice romance touch to this book that I really enjoyed! All in all this book was perfect to have a good time and relax! There is quite a lot going on in this book and if you like horses you won't be disappointed (I thought I would add this to my review as it might be a plus for you :-) ) and I also I wanted to say Lilac Mills a big thank you to feature among the main characters a disabled young woman in wheelchair as it's not very often we see this in chicklit books.

Lilac Mills is very quickly becoming a favourite author of mine and this story is definitely up there with the best. If you love books set in little villages and based around tea shops and cakes then you will love this one! A perfect cosy read!

A light and gentle tale of opening a dream teashop in a picturesque village. And said village is rich in colourful characters each with a story to tell.
The author has really caught the dream of moving into the countryside, being self employed and living a slow and gentle life.
A really easy read and all the better for that!

Princess Fuzzypants here: I confess. I wanted to spit and claw at the heroine Stevie in the early parts of the book. She just seemed hopelessly ditzy. I am glad I stayed with her though because once she got to Tanglewood and had a purpose, she changed. Oh, she could still do some silly things but even those turned out fine. Thanks to the bequest from her Aunt Peggy, she is able to start again with her tea shop. She is a great baker and despite the whinging and naysaying of her jealous mother and sisters, and the attempts by the local mean girl who thinks she is the arbiter of all things nutritional, Stevie gains acceptance. She even is adopted by a kitty whom she names Peggy.
She does so by offering great products and trying to pitch in when the community is in need. She makes friends- including a very special one. There is no mystery to solve. It is simply a good story with a romantic twist and it was enjoyable.
I give it four purrs and two paws up.

I don't want to lie, I was planning to give up on this story without finishing. Glad that I have stuck through because the latter half more than made up for all the dull moments in the beginning. Stevie's buying of the tea shop and settling in the community takes half of the book and then only we get the glimpse of the exciting story we are promised. Especially when old lady Betty comes to the scene to play the perfect fairy godmother.
I loved the cosy community, the tantrums of the black cat who is also named Peggy, but the one who has really touched my heart is Tia, who braves the world from a wheelchair. This book would have been really fascinating and unique if Tia was to be on the lead role. Sadly, that is not in my hands. But I do really hope that there will be such a story from the talented hands of Lilac Mills.

Standard chic lit for me really. I'm not usually a fan but wanted something light hearted for a change.

'The Tanglewood Tea Shop’ is my first experience of Lilac Mills' writing and it was a lovely introduction to her work.

The story centres around Stevie in the little village of Tanglewood. Stevie is caring, genuine and down on her luck initially. I immediately found her to be a likeable and relatable character.

This book was a perfect cosy, comfort read when I needed some gentle escapism. The author writes in an engaging way; I found myself frequently telling myself 'just one more chapter' as I was so immersed in the story.

I'll definitely be looking out for other works by Lilac Mills and have recommended this to friends, colleagues and my book group.

It's always an exciting time when Lilac Mills has a new release, automatic read for me! And you've really got to love that cover, if it doesn't make you want to have cakes and tea I don't think anything will. This is a make me happy, pick me up kind of book. I loved the character's and Peggy the kitten, that scamp was such a cutie. Love her! Happy ending!

This was a cute story about a girl starting over. Stevie is left an inheritance from her great aunt. She uses that money to buy a shop in a small English town and starts a bakery. This was a fun read, but I kept wanting a little more depth from the story. The writing was quite simplistic and there was no real climax to the story. Very predictable, but good for a light read.

This was a wonderfully well-written story of growth and happiness.
I was anxious about reading this book for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I have only ever read one other Lilac Mills books and really enjoyed it, but that could have been a fluke, it wasn’t!
The second is that one of my favourite series of books is ‘The Comfort Food Cafe series by Debbie Johnson’. I didn’t know how another book set in a cafe could live up to the standards set by Johnson, but it did! I needn’t have been worried.
I loved hearing about all the creations that Stevie made and as a baker myself I wish there had been recipes at the back, so I could make some of Stevie’s creations (but not the chocolate and broccoli cupcakes, they did not sound appetising!)
I think the only thing I didn’t like about this book is Stevie’s name. Every time it was in the book I kept thinking who is Steve? She just didn’t seem like a Stevie, but this is just my opinion!
I loved how all the village came together it made the book feel homely, and if it were real I’d want to visit Tanglewood (well it does exist but not in Wales, and I’m sure it doesn’t have such an amazing cafe as Peggy’s Tea Shoppe)!

For a break from the more heavier reads, Tanglewood Tea Shop proves a nice interlude. This is the kind of story that takes you away to a small village community somewhere in rural England, where a newbie usually comes along and attempts to start afresh. Throw into the mix a little drama, a little romance and you have the makings of a gentle getaway.

My further attraction to this book is of course the prominence of the word ‘tea’. Loving all things associated with this amber liquid, this quickly became a must read. And it is in terms of this that the book really shines - the whole shop, tea and cake details are ideal. I fully appreciated the realistic and humorous situations that were often adhered to:

“... regretting her decision to buy bone-china cups and saucers, and pretty but not-dishwasher-safe plates with gold leaf around the edges.”

The author, Lilac Mills, also does a noteworthy job of capturing not only the setting of the typical English village but also a good range of characters. There were a few, however, situations and circumstances sprinkled throughout that brought this story down a little. The main romantic couples instalove was a little hard to buy into given they really had not been present or conversed sensibly for any length of time. I also found some of the dialogue silly and contrived and that disappointed me somewhat. Then again, the likes of other characters such as Betty, really lift and give the story notable engagement.

Overall, however, for a quick escape to the English countryside with a cup of tea and some delectably described cake, Tanglewood Tea Shop may just fit the bill for you.

‘You only get one chance at it, so live it your way’.

This Book was everything and more that I want in a book.</p>

It holds three things that are dear to me Love, Tea and Cake. How can you go wrong with a book about a Tea Shop and some love :)

Stevie is an amazing 26 year old red head or should i say chestnut - I'd be in trouble is Stevie heard me say red! At the beginning of the book we are introduced to Stevie who is stuck in a rut and not sure where to go. After an unfortunate accident that cost her the job she had working with Corky Middleton a Chef of an up-class restaurant she didn't know what to do with herself.

Stevie had to move back in with her mother Hazel who to say the least is not a very nice person. She doesn't seem to believe in Stevie and what she does with her life.

Stevie unfortunately loose her Great Aunt Peggy at the beginning of the book too, it turns out that Aunt Peggy isn't a poor as she seemed. Stevie Spent a lot of time with her Aunt over the years while her mother and Sister Fern did not!

Because of this Aunt Peggy left Stevie pretty much all her money... two hundred and sixty-three thousand pounds. To start with Stevie was not sure what to do with this money but while searching the web for a job she found a real estate selling a tea shop in a little town called Tanglewood.
Stevie went to Tanglewood and won the auction for the tea shop and moved in above it into a two bedroom apartment.
To say her mother and sister were not thrilled with the Tea Shop is an understatement. They didn't think that Stevie would be able to make it in the town of Tanglewood and that she would head home with her tail between her legs quick smart!

But Stevie Became part of the little town in no time. She made some awesome friends. Betty who was a regular customer over the age of 80 and secretly a baker too. Leanne the local flower shop owner who could drink anyone under the table. Tia the little sister of the hot stable owner and horse trainer. Tia herself was once an amazing horse rider herself but unfortunately ended up in a wheel chair

Throughout the book we learn a little more about each character of the book. But for me it is Stevie who is my favourite and I am a little partial to Betty too! It was this book that made me realise that if I could be anything else in the world with unlimited funds I think I would chose to run a tea shop - just like the one in this book. It sounds like so much fun to me!

This Book was amazing and I'm glad in the end that Stevie found what she wanted to do with her life and found love while doing it!

The author captures the essence of the book right from the beginning and keeps you wanting to read more to find out what happens next. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves Tea, Cake and Love! Really what more could you ask for :)
