This was a super informative book. As someone so refers to herself as “emotional” I felt like I got a lot of great tips and tricks from this book. I will definitely be recommending it and felt like it was an easy read even though it’s non fiction.
Emotional Advantage provides an in depth look at how all emotions, both positive and negative, can be managed in an effort to live your best life. Everything is broken down into easy to understand terms, and lots of examples are provided for context. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about their emotions and just how much they affect your daily life.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I knew within the first couple of chapters that this was going to be a brilliant book.
On my first read, I took in all of the information and starting thinking about how I use and interpret each of my emotions in different situations in my life and I really made me think more deeply about how I can start to take some of control back.
I’m going to get a journal to start doing the activities and I truly believe that it will help as I already feel like I’m more informed and conscious just from reading the book.
Fully recommend to anyone who wants to reactivate their personal power and gain more awareness about what their emotions are telling them.
This book provides an in depth look at the various feelings we experience in life- both the positive and negative- that can help us move forward. The key is to move towards balance by working towards controlling and embracing your feelings to help you live a life you love. The author provides lots of tips and ideas on how to go about this. I like that the chapters were divided by the particular emotion. It was nice to focus on them one emotion at a time. I wish that the book would have went in order from heaviest emotion to deal with to lightest emotion to deal with instead of going in the opposite direction and starting with happiness although I understand it is because happiness as an emotion doesn't need much direction to follow since it is an easy emotion to feel. I do like the book advocates naming and feeling your emotions to get through them, instead of ignoring them or automatically medicating them. I think Emotional Advantage is a great book that would be helpful to any human person.
Emotional Advantage is an in-depth look at how feelings, both positive and negative, can help us move forward to be our best possible selves. Many people have deeply challenging life situations that can, at times, feel like huge hurdles or stumbling blocks. This book offers the reader valuable and researched information about how even these tough times can offer us a chance at learning and growing from them.
Negative experiences can feel debilitating and Taran's advice is wonderful at sharing how much power we can have over our emotions and reactions. How we respond to even to the most challenging situations can let them guide us to be a more informed and empowered person.
As we learn and grow from situations and interactions, we are able to be more proactive in the future, set better boundaries and have the courage to be our best selves. I learned so much from this book and I know I will refer back to it again and again.

A few years ago I went through a deeply traumatic event. I was devastated. I found myself lost in a sea of misery and despair. My heart felt as if it had been hit by a furious tornado. I didn’t know how to cope. I was not sure how to deal with all the different emotions that overtook me. Even the encouragement and advice well-meaning friends and relatives offered were not helpful in easing the pain I felt deep inside. I looked for books and resources to help me through the painful process of breaking up with someone, but I couldn’t find anything that spoke specifically to me as a heartbroken, emotional, and wounded individual. All I can say is I wish I had Randy Taran’s “Emotional Advantage.” His book is a must read for understanding the role and wisdom of emotions in our lives. It is liberating indeed!
