Emery and Jordan's story is so heart warming! I liked how J. Nathan gave us a glimpse of their shared past so we have a clear understanding of how the relationship history helped shape their present. Their friendship was so strong and what happened was very bittersweet.
We flash forward a handful of years where Emery and Jordan meet again. Jordan is flabbergasted and doesn't in the best manner. I thought that quite a bit of this book was from his point of view, and yet I still didn't feel like I got to know him like I did Emery. I did really like this book, especially Jordan's solution to help Emery's mother. I am really enjoying this series.

4.5 stars (I hate Bama)
It's so nice to see Grady as a person and not a prick. He's loved Emery since they were kids, but she left without a word. Now she starts college, and he's a jerk. He overcomes his jerky-ness, and they get their HEA. I love how their journey is different from the previous couples, plus how the previous peeps come to his rescue. I hope there's another book planned for Flip.
Best Friend to Lovers! This book was executed perfectly! Jordan & Emery met when they were little kids. From the moment 8 year old met Emery met 11 year old Jordan she knew he was the one she would marry!
Unfortunately because of horrendous circumstances teenage Emery must move away unexpectedly, right after her first kiss with Jordan.
Years later they are back in each others lives *cue the fireworks*
I highly recommend this one!!
For Emery is the fourth book in the series, but I think each can be read as standalones, since I hadn't read any of the previous books and I wasn't confused or lost.
Emery and Grady had been friends since she was eight and he was eleven. Even though she was three years younger than him, they became fast friends. This went on for many years and during that time, they became best friends and did everything together. Emery attended all of his football games and was his biggest cheerleader. When she turned fifteen things changed; a teenage yearning replaced a lighthearted friendship.
“For Emery” is so much more than a sports romance. It touched my heart and made me really feel the deep connection that existed between Emery and Jordan. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to go back and read the other books in the series!
4.5⭐
For Emery was a terrific story from an author that is new to me. But one I will certainly be reading more off in the future. As the story not only caught my attention. But it had the perfect balance of sweetness and emotion. Not to mention it was well paced and very engaging, and I was easily hooked throughout.
Plus, the characters were extremely likable and the story which deals with the difficult topic domestic abuse was brilliantly handled and came across as very realistic and believable.
And I'd certainly recommend this story to others, particularly to anyone whose read and enjoyed Elle Kennedys Off Campus Series or Toni Aleos Bellevue Bullies series.
For Emery is the fourth book in the For You series. It can be read as a standalone novel, but some of Grady's personality and character traits are woven throughout the series. That is important because Emery is from further back in Grady's past and his previous behavior is a reflection of their relationship. Emery was a great match for Grady. Her story was actually more interesting to me than his. I actually didn't fall quite in love with Grady's character as I hoped. There were just some times that I didn't like him and that made me question how much I liked Emery's relationship with him. Overall, it was a good romance. I loved how it ended.
This one just didn't work for me. Usually I love the protective older boy trope, but the way it was written felt fake to me. The age and the things they would say just didn't ring true. I couldn't picture any 11 year old boy thinking like he did, or an eight year old girl from an abusive home saying what she did. And it was even worse when they reconnected in college. Not a winner for me.
Years after running away with her mother from an abusive home, Emery regrets leaving behind her best friend, Grady, whom she's been in love with since she was eight. Years later, a chance encounter at a college party reunites the childhood friends. “For Emery” started off in a good note and I was intrigued by the direction of the story. Once the leads reached adulthood and reconnection, the storyline fell flat to me. The characters were a lot more interesting as children/teenagers than what they became in college. I felt almost force to try to finish this story. Sadly, this just wasn't for me and I ended up dropping this by chapter 15 at 38%.
This was a well written quick read. Childhood friends who unexpectedly lost contact find each other again in college. The chemistry and quick wit was refreshing. Would definitely read another book from this author!
This is Emery and Grady book, Grady is Alabama star right tackle and a hottie! He's a real jerk and a list them and leave them type! Emery is his childhood friend kind of her protector until high school when he finally kissed her! But then Emery had to leave town! Now she's older more mature and back! This was a nice sweet read! It wasn't a bad book I just like a little more hear to my stories lol if you like ya sweet reads this one's for you! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
I thought this book was good, however it seemed to lack some of the appeal that the previous books from this author had. I was frustrated at times with the main characters and did not really feel like there was strong chemistry between them.
4 stars!
Emery and Grady' found love at a young age. Circumstances tore them apart. Now in college, they end up seeing each other again. Everything falls back into place, except the one thing that kept them apart. This was a cute second romance book with a dark secret.
This author I have read before and I always thoroughly enjoyed her books. Both the story and the characters were engaging. I will definitely have to read more by J. Nathan. I find myself very engaged by her books. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
It was a cute story with likeable characters, a little on the drama and immature side, but otherwise good
This was a sweet story that also features domestic abuse, though I liked that it never got too graphic.
Emery falls in love with our male lead, Grady when she is 8 and he is 11. We get to see them grow up together and that was my favorite part of this story. Her step father is an abusive jerk and Grady tries to protect her as they are neighbors and best friends.
At 15 her mother grabs her and runs away but they fear the step father and so they go away in hiding. That is where this story starts as Emery is 19 and Grady is 21 and they both are now attending Alabama State where Grady plays football and goes to college.
I loved both characters and when the book starts Grady is a BIG jerk. Emery is very sad about the changes in her best friend and it does not help that she is friends with Grady's rival on his football team. But Grady wants Emery and so he grows up a lot and they get their friendship back and he wants a romantic relationship with her.
This was sweet and fun college romance between two best friends who missed each other. They are both in love with the other but time was their enemy and now its time for them to find a way to move on with each other. I really loved it and I loved all the characters in this story.
