* I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange of my honest review *
I don't really know what happened but I received the book backwards so it was kind of weird and I was so confused the whole time .... I don't even know if I have the right to rate this one but I'm doing it anyway because I have a strong opinion about this book . First of all we have all the tropes and clichés so it wasn't innovative and the character development is so poor . I'm not sure if I'm going to read the next volume ....
This was a cute, short read that I very much needed to help get me out of my reading slump. It's your cliché 'edgy bad boy falls for the soft little nerd', but it's very sweet!
I want to preface this by saying that I knew nothing about manga before reading this. I decided to read it because the description sounded fun and I wanted to try something new. I am very glad I picked this out because this was so much fun to read. I feel like The Star Collector was a good first choice for getting into manga, because it was an uncomplicated story, which made it easier to get used to reading from right to left.
The story was sweet, but I do wish the story was stretched out a little longer, prolonging the inevitable. I know there are going to be more volumes in this story, so I almost would have preferred if it had left off on a sort of cliffhanger so we wouldn’t be sure how things were going to turn out. I am still excited to see what happens next, so this is just me being a bit picky.
I cannot comment too much on the quality of the artwork since I have no artistic talent whatsoever, but I do like how the story moved along with the artwork even when the panels didn’t have any dialogue in them.
I would recommend this story to anyone who is looking for something sweet and lighthearted that you can finish in a single sitting.
A story about a teenager realizing he's attracted to a boy for the first time. It has good elements, but it's pretty brief, and we don't really get much background on any of the characters, so they end up all seeming very flat and one dimensional.
The art is beautiful though and it has some potential.
A super cute BL manga about a boy, Niko, who loves the stars and another, Fynn, who loves watching and being with Niko. The story was interesting and flowed well for the most part. I would have rated this at a 5 if a couple of parts were not as convoluted as they were. (Example: Fynn's ex being jealous... It's understandable, but could have been better presented.) The artwork is also wonderful! I can't wait to read the sequel!
I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley to write and honest review.

”How far should we go?”
“To the stars.”
“Nerd!”

Even though I am a manga beginner— barely started to read this genre during Christmas break (and fell in love completely with it— I do can recognize asap when a manga is going to be cute and fun!
And when I have something cute with fun in the same sentence, I am all in.
Star Collector is the story of an outcast high school boy who meets this astrology-lover boy one night on a mountain hill. He finds himself curious about the boys personality and obsession with the stars, and continues to accompany him to gaze at the sky during the nights. Later on, he soon finds himself feeling something new.
BL (Shounen ai) is one of my favorite types of manga— the type I’ve read most so far— and when I saw the cover and synopsis of this one, I couldn’t resist to request it on NetGalley. I find romance between boys more intimate and real and honest, and I enjoy how the characters grow.
It was a short volume, but for the simple fact that it was so enjoyable it could have been read in a sitting. But, at the same time, you crave to just take it— hold on to it— a little bit longer to savor the soft butterflies in your tummy when you think of the cuteness of the story.
The latter was a really easy one— slice of life, school, and star gazing— and the plot was one that kept you wanting to see when THAT was going to happen. The art was REALLY beautiful and, if I am honest, the first thing that caught my attention. The characters were really interesting and I enjoyed reading about them— though I have the feeling I will learn more about them in the next volume.
This first volume includes the first five chapters of the story, which was originally written in German. The second volume will include the last five chapters of the story, and it will be released soon this year.
(Yes, I liked it THAT much that I did some research, lol)
If I had to point out something that might have been a small flaw; it would have been the pacing. It was a bit to fast, though if you actually keep up with the art and images, you would notice that a bit of time passes in which the main characters spend time with each other. But even despite the pacing being a bit pushed forward, I think the story develops lovely and it is one that makes you smile!!!
Can’t wait to get back to these two guys in the next volume!
If you’re into BL manga, I truly recommend you this adorable story that you will love! And if you’re new into manga and are interested in exploring the Shounen ai world, then this manga is a good— cute— place to start!
This was my first experience with manga and I enjoyed it a lot. The illustrations were beautiful and the plot also was enjoyable. However, in my experience it was too fast paced, this sometimes made it hard for me to actually follow the story.
A cute story about a delinquent and a boy who loves stars. I think later volumes will really decide the rating for me. This is a great start but many directions it could go. Most good!
Sadly I cannot get this file to open so I cannot give a review. It looked very promising though and I will probably pick up a copy when it is released.
This book was provided to be my NetGalley in exchange for my hones opinion.
The first volume of Star Collector, is a wild ride. Overall the artwork and character designs were excellent. The dialogue felt natural and authentic to the characters. You can tell that a lot of heart and soul was poured into the manga. I do however, think that the pacing was little too fast. I imagine this was done intentionally so that other storylines and themes could be explored without waiting around for the main couple to get together. All in all, I will surely be continuing on with the story when the next volume comes out.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this comic!
Title: Star Collector Volume 1
Author: Sophie Schönhammer and Anna Backhausen
Release date: 26/02/19
Genre: Graphic novel, manga, romance
My Rating: 3 stars
I don't read a lot of manga, but when I saw this one it sounded super cute, so I thought I would give it a go.
We follow two boys, Niko and Fynn who begin a friendship, and later relationship after meeting one night while Niko is star gazing.
I think the main problem I had with this was the pacing, it felt much too fast paced and I was lost a few times, also, the romance was extremely rushed.
As this is only volume 1, I will probably be picking up the next volume to continue the story!
Overall, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes manga/comics and romance.
I've had manga ARCs before and they didn't make me wait whol6e Adobe Digital could get me to the last page so I can read it Japanese style. That was really annoying and I ended up spoiling the ending in my attempt to get to the other end of the book. Cute story with decent art, otherwise.
J ai adoré !!!
L'univers manga et les deux personnages.
Hâte de lire le tome suivant.
Amazing !
Give me the next one !!!!!
A adorable tale of Flyn, who just got himself dumped by his girlfriend, and Niko the new guy in town who loves the skies and stars.
The art is amazing, and the story of Flynn and Niko is very cute, with how Flynn slowly comes to term with how he apparently likes boys and how cute Niko is, and how he actually wants his attention on him and not on the stars and the other boy's friends.
The art is very nice, and I loved the characters sketches with some info on them in the end! I really hope there's more volumes soon!
This was very well done with an adorable story and beautiful art. The story itself wasn't overly complex or deep but I enjoyed it greatly.
I loved that lovely, adorable, delightful story. Niko and Fynn are the cutest and the best and I love their star-filled romance to no end.
The characters in this book, specifically Niko and Fynn are so adorable and loveable. When you are first introduced to Fynn he has a delinquent, bad-boy feel going on and he is being broken up with. When you are introduced to Niko you cannot help from loving him, and of course, this continues the more you get to know Niko and his life. Other than these two, you see very few other characters and don't really get a chance to know anyone else other than Fynn's girlfriend Zoe who turns out to be very supportive of Fynn and his sexual orientation.
To continue, I am so happy to see the positive representation of sexual orientation in this text from the perspective of the characters themselves. Zoe is very supportive about it all and we learn that she breaks up with Fynn so that he can explore "the other things" that he may have an interest in. I love how open Fynn himself is to it all, considering how he exudes the bad boy, notoriously known through school feel. It seems as if there aren't any real problems with his orientation through the school. I appreciate that no one is mean to him or gives him any negativity about it. Having those positive reactions is so refreshing to read.
A huge part of this book is the art, and it is fantastic! Niko and Fynn are adorable and the art matches them so well. Of the two, Niko is my favorite and his face is so cute and loveable. I adore the way the art make his eyes and face look so bright when he is happy. I love this style of art and the carefree feel of it all really. It makes it so fun and easy to read.
As for the general storyline, it's so precious. I am a nerd and also love stargazing, so it really made my heart melt when Niko taught Fynn things about astronomy and Fynn cared so much about Niko that he actually followed suit and learned to love it with him. Seriously, my heart cannot handle the level of precious this book is!
On Goodreads, I gave this one 5 stars because I loved it so much. It tugged at my heartstrings and just made me smile so much as I read it. I cannot wait to read the next volume(s) and get deeper into the story between these two guys and learn more about their pasts.
Oh My God... This was SO cute.
I loved the characters, they were very well developed, especially considering how few pages this was, they had so much personality, and yes I am crushing on Niko (a lot)
The art work was amazing, and I will definitely be waiting for the next volume to come out so I can continue this adorable story.

I didn't really understand this book. I didn't like the illustration style. I also thought it was going to have more scifi/fantasy. I hope others might enjoy it. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review.
A nice story about a young man who is rather laid back but he begins to change when he develops feelings for a nerdy stargazer. It is a lovely manga about opposites attracting. This is volume one in what promises to be a good series.
