Daniel Ryan Day has written a thoughtful book entitled “ What’s Next “ that speaks to us the reader that God has a plan for our life. If Rick Warren wished to publish a 21st century update on Warren’s famous “The Purpose Driven Life” he may have contracted with author Day to write about some practical applications on the same theme. Day reminds us to clear out the clutter in one’s mind so that God’s intentions can become clear to us. Day gives us a number of examples of his struggles to find meaning for his work life and ultimately how directing his attention back to the Bible helps him find his way.
Day’s book is easy to read and offers comfort for those of us struggling to make sense of things while waking up each day to the struggles of daily life. The book doesn’t break new ground for long time Christ-followers; it may be a great read for those at earlier stages of their Christian walk.
Thanks to Net Galley for allowing me the pleasure of reading “ What’s Next” at no charge.
Many times we try to lead our own lives. The Bible states how people make their plans but God changes them. What is God leading you too? What's next by Daniel Ryan Day offers suggestions in what may be happening in your life. Look at the surrounding signs. God is speaking in that career change, the restlessness, and the need for change. Don't ignore these signs because God may be leading you into your into destiny. This book helped me because I am transitioning into what God has for me. God changed my plans, and he made the crooked paths straight. His plans for your life will always be better than whatever you can dream of. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. Happy reading. Thank you NetGalley, this book was exactly what I needed to keep the faith.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book came at the perfect time. I'm in a major transition in my life and not adjusting to y new normal at all. This book was a great reminder on how to stop and just let God lead. The scriptures and stories were wonderful. Needed this badly.
Review of What’s Next: Your Dream Job, God’s Call, and a Life That Sets You Free, by Daniel Ryan Day
If you are a recent graduate and unsure of your next step, or you’ve been in your dead-end job too long, or you just want God to let you know, what’s next?, then this book is for you!
Here are a few things to consider:
Is your dream job the same thing as God’s call for you?
Is God going to call you in an area of your strength?
Does a feeling of peace have any place in making your next move?
Does being obedient to God mean giving up what you love?
What’s Next? covers these ponderings and more. Daniel Ryan Day lets you know where in the Bible it talks about God’s will for you.
If you are interested in learning and following God’s will for your life, Day’s book will help you get a good perspective on the meanings and misconceptions of the above questions. You may be surprised by what you learn. I wish I had read this book when I was finishing college. Even now it is a good reminder. We make choices and rank priorities throughout our lives.

This book is touted as “find your dream job with God’s help.” But I don’t think it really lives up to the hype it sets forth on the cover. If one is truly looking for an avenue to finding their dream job, this book wouldn’t help them much.
To me this is more like a bible study about how to discover your calling in life. I think the whole “dream job” aspect just throws the reader off and makes them wonder why they even picked up this book to begin with.
I thought all the concepts were great considering this is a bible-based theory but I was looking forward to discovering how I could find my dream job. I already know what my calling is and that is definitely not the same thing most times.
I appreciate this book and its contents and I think it would be great for a select market if the whole “calling on your life” part was emphasized and not the “dream job” part.
Like I said, make this a bible study or a devotional and this would do gangbusters. But as it is, I think people might come away a little disappointed that the reason they found the book didn’t truly give them any advice toward finding the job of their dreams.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
