I wasn’t a big fan of this book. I didn’t really like switching between Cadie’s first person point of view and Will’s third person point of view. I know it was a stylistic choice but at times it was almost jarring for me to go from inside one person’s head to watching another person from a distance. Both characters also annoyed me and reminded me of how I would expect teenagers or people in their early twenties to act instead of people in their mid-thirties. They seemed immature and I wondered how healthy their relationship was if they would have such major communication issues after four years. It took me a while to get even remotely interested in the book and I considered putting it down many times. It did make me laugh at times but mostly I was just really annoyed with the characters. I found it kind of cool that there was a reference to a junior hockey league in Manitoba where I live since the book was set in New York and I wouldn’t expect anyone in New York to know it exists.

This is the first book by Bethany Turner i have read. I found that the book was ok. It didn't really draw me in. I really don't think this was the authors fault, but it really wasn't my type of book. The characters were warm and inviting! Some parts of the book was funny and others were so so. I would recommend book to other's who like a more modern Christian book.
I was given this book free for giving a honest review.
I couldn't finish this, but it's probably a me-problem. This is a new-to-me author and the premise sounded unique--I like reading about established couples. In this case, Cadie and Will break up shortly after the book starts. And once I started reading, I figured out why... the characters were INFURIATING! I couldn't stand them; there was zero communication and all their reactions were over the top.
To summarize: this felt a lot like a Hallmark Romance movie. NOTHING wrong with that, but it wasn't working for me. Think... A Christmas Prince from Netflix.

I found this to be a deliciously delightful, light-hearted and fun romantic comedy type of a story.
Cadie McCaffrey is tired, yes downright tired...of being in a relationship that is fast going nowhere. Her boyfriend Will is completely clueless, and she can't handle it anymore. So she ends it.
And this is where the fun begins.
Will loves her, and is determined to spend the rest of his life with her. No matter what it takes.
But...somehow, they just never quite are on the same page.
The results are fun, a bit humorous at times, and other times, quite sad....
You won't want to miss this one!

I have mixed feelings about this book. There were parts I loved and parts I didn't care for. I loved all the mentions of some of my most favorite romcoms, or as I like to call them, ChickFlicks. Bethany hit most of my favorites along the way in "Wooing Cadie McCaffrey." and it was fun to see them mentioned. I enjoyed the characters in this book, especially Kevin and Ellis! I loved the way they joined forces with Will to help him win Cadie back. That was hilarious and sweet and definitely my favorite part of the novel. I didn't love Cadie's parents, they drove me NUTS! Some of the misunderstandings and such drove me crazy, and Cadie annoyed me at times. Overall, the book was cute and a perfect light summer read. There were some aspects that surprised me in the book, but they were handled well. I would give this between a 3.5 and a 4 star review and I will round up to 4 for goodreads etc.

Wow, all I can say is, this story blew me away! Keep the tissues close by as you are reading WOOING CADIE MCCAFFREY by Bethany Turner. She will have your emotions all over the place. Once I started reading, it was very hard to stop! The twists and turns made it impossible to put down, as I had to know what was going to happen to Cadie and Will after so much heartache! Will Cadie ever be able to explain to Will how unappreciated she feels? What an awesome story. All of Bethany's characters feel genuine and relatable and put your emotions on one heck of a roller coaster ride. As you are reading, you will find yourself cheering for all of them, praying they can work out their problems and be happy once again.
WOOING CADIE MCCAFFREY is all about family, ugh, her parents drove me nuts, dealing with the past and trying to find your happily ever after. It had me flipping through the pages like a woman on a mission. Will tries so hard to be the man Cadie deserves, but he just can't seem to get it quite right. Men!! It was so much fun watching these two dance around each other and their feelings. You will find yourself shaking your head at Will screaming "open your eyes man! How can you not see what is going on." At least that's what happened to me! WOOING CADIE MCCAFFREY is a heart tugging story that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once you start reading, it will be very hard to put down! You also won't be able to stop yourself from laughing at Will and his manly thoughts!
WOOING CADIE MCCAFFREY is without a doubt one of my top funniest books I've read in 2019 so far. I was instantly emotionally invested in all of the characters. My heart broke for Cadie when she cuts Will loose. Bethany Turner sure can hook the reader with her romance! I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author. I have one of her older books to read and that brings me so much joy and happiness to know it is waiting for me!
Overall, I enjoyed the story but had my reservations about parts of it. I chuckled over the chapter headings, laughed out loud at times, and found some of the supporting characters a real hoot. The movie references were fun. Most I hadn’t seen, so I think they didn’t have the impact for me that they will have for someone else. However, it was amusing to see what Will was going to do next to woo Cadie back to him. Poor guy.
I found Cadie’s response following the (off the page) passion between her and Will too dramatic and, after the initial shock, her handling of it too immature—especially when they had been together for four years. At the same time, I appreciated that the author showed she took it seriously in a day when that’s not generally the case.
Lest, we let Will off the hook…. Why didn’t he explain his plan and why he had it in the first place? I think I could have accepted the lack of communication between them had they been together a short time and not four years. It made their relationship seem too shallow.
I’m giving Wooing Cadie McCaffrey 4 stars. It’s a fun, fast-paced, light read built around a present culture vs. Biblical clash that (I think) deserves more attention. The major drawback is that much of the conflict relied on a lack of communication.
An FYI: I thought it was done well, but some Christians might find the book a bit too “edgy.”

The prologue! Oh the prologue! It was the best part of the book. It hooked me in. I loved the meet-cute idea. The words flowed and the story expanded and I was excited to read the story. Then the story jumped back in time. Then jumped back a little more. Then jumped around some more. It takes a lot of concentration for all that jumping around. I was honestly a little annoyed by that. The writing was still good but I was like what happened to the vibe from the prologue? I liked that vibe. I want that vibe back. I was annoyed at the hopping around and wished the story would have just progressed from the meet cute. I think the jumping around was an interesting way to write the story but I felt like a lot of the details got left out because of this. I felt like I had missed something important. I didn't understand why Cadie was so frustrated with Will. It seemed unnatural and a little petty. I needed some more substance. I felt like there could have been more but I felt like I had missed it. It's almost like I should have read a previous book. It was a super cute rom-com but not as developed as I would have hoped. I really thought Cadie was funny and loved how cute Will was but it kind of stopped there. I was also confused why there were so many work details included. They detracted from the story and I didn't feel like they helped in anyway. Overall this was a cute read but not one of my favorites. I give it 3 stars.

Romance, clean, although some fade to black; Christian faith elements;
Cadie and Will's story was an interesting read for me. A bunch of mis-or non-communication leads to them being apart. So much of their hearts was poured out in this story. For me, I get tired of fallen characters to the extreme that they fell. It seemed like that wasn't a big part of their life, and they were just 'forgiven'. Some sorrow for the 'fall' event, but I was wishing it wasn't even part of the story, and seemed so minimal a part after the next few chapters. It should be more significant in a way? Just all part of a bigger bunch of misunderstandings and events. Other than that (and that was a big one for me), I enjoyed Cadie and Will and their finding each other in a real and meaningful way, with much better communication in the end. Friends, family, events, and all kinds of things seem to get in their way. I appreciated Will's confusion, and Cadie's as well, but also appreciated they decided to fight for each other too. Finely fighting for what they really loved about each other. Well meaning friends, parents, and others causing the problems and helped them get back together as well.
I do love that there were some pretty detailed side characters, work issues and loved the work setting, and NYC setting. There were some great quirky moments, but this was definitely more of a PG-13 read. Some great funny moments too (gotta love Barry!). While I probably might have given a 4, I had to go down lower to the 3 due to content.
This romantic comedy has all the feels. While most books seem to be about falling in love, this book is all about the break-up. Cadie and Will have been dating for four years but things are slowly falling apart. Follow their story, the mistakes, the good times, the misunderstandings. If you enjoy Christian fiction where you will laugh and also cry, this book is for you. I loved the ending and hope for a sequel!
This novel was well written and the heroine was very well developed. She walked on the page with a defined personality and this remained consistent throughout the book. For me, the humor/self-deprecation became a little too much. In her deepest despair, the heroine was still making too many jokes. The plot relied on a complete lack of communication and parents intervening too much with 30 year-olds, which gave the story a lack of believability. Yes, it's fiction, but it has to feel real for me to really sink my teeth into it and enjoy the humor and the character arcs.
I didn’t know this was part of a series but I did like this book and it is kind of like a Netflix chick movie and I thought it was romantic and cute and I loved it now I have to read the other books in the series
I lovr this author!! She is the perfect Christian chick lit read! I appreciate that she writes flawed,Christian women and doent just make them into characters but into real women that I can identify with. That is real life even as a believer and I love that she writes and shows how God loves us and redeems us from our sins. And how to get past them. And she makes you laugh along the way!
I have mixed feelings about this book. For the most part, it was a cute rom-com. I liked the sports setting and references. I appreciated the struggle the main characters felt trying to live out their faith in every day life. I really had to suspend my disbelief though, that these two people in their early thirties, that had been dating for four years, had never had a serious conversation about marriage. I feel like that set the story up for frustration instead of a charming romance.
The second half of the book was better than the first half, and I started to have some sympathy for the characters and not just want to yell at them. If you like rom-coms, you should give this one a try. It's cute and funny. It's just a little frustrating at times.
I received a free copy of this book for the purpose of review.
This was such an adorable book! I loved how it managed to combine funny moments with heartwarming ones in a book that I didn’t want to put down! Even the prologue in this book was wonderful (and I usually find those to be pointless). I also found the way the relationship was handled to be very relatable! Communication is so important in relationships and this really highlighted that, as well as how we shouldn’t make assumptions! Overall it was a great read and I’m looking forward to Turner’s next book!
Worst book ever!! It was like reading a Hallmark Movie, which are hard enough to watch let alone read. Cadie the main character was annoying and unlikeable . The authur used romantic movies references throughout the book making this book sappy, not happy. ;+(
This book had me all emotional. Laughing, crying, wanting to scream because the actions of the characters, then laughing more! There is some great wisdom within the pages, mixed in with humor. I love the voice the author writes with and the references she uses. I’ve never had a pastrami sandwich, but this book makes me want to try one! Cadie and Darby’s relationship flowed so well. And the lengths Will was willing to go! Well, you’ll need to read the book! It is called Wooing Cadie McCaffrey! I received a copy of the book from NetGalley. All views stated here are my own.
It’s a book like this that makes me miss the days of classic romantic comedy films. No one does a #romcom movie like Nora Ephron and, in my opinion, no one does a modern romcom book like Bethany Turner. Her writing is fresh and fun. It makes me laugh, cry, groan, and rejoice with her characters. It didn’t take but a few pages in to get invested in Cadie’s life, picture her friends and colleagues, and wish it were my birthday, so I could be picked up by Will Whitaker in our very own meet cute. While the jobs Cadie and Will have seem a tad too convenient and glamorous in today’s world, they fit the needs of a story that becomes an 80's movie tribute, which I think is what makes this book so special. Haven’t we all imagined what it would be like to be in a romantic comedy? Cadie’s ideal “movie” romance is not realistic, as she comes to realize, but the resolution shows that real love is messy, complicated, and even when we try our best at it we may fail. Royally. Wooing Cadie McCaffrey uses funny and nostalgic memories to remind us that, yes, even within a Christian worldview as Cadie and Will profess, our failures can be overcome by forgiveness and a whole lot of grace. No love story is perfect, and I appreciate this timely romance for the reminder that “life is not like it is in the movies.”
This book is so much fun! I enjoyed all the pop culture references. Its a story that I believe is more true to life then many books out there. There is drama, uncertainty, hope and lots of questions.
I feel like it is so true to life.
I think the reader can learn so much from this story right along with Cadie.
I recommend this book to my family and friends.
