An enjoyable family saga. The characters were flawed, yet relatable, the story was compelling, and the ending was fulfilling.

I am a long time fan of Jennifer Weiner and I was super excited to get to read her newest book, Mrs, Everything.

This novel follows two sisters, Jo and Bethie, who are from Detroit and grow up in the mid 20th century and follow their lives until current day.

I should start this review by saying that if you're looking for a super twisty dark tale this isn't it. However, if you are looking for an epic family saga with the natural twists and turns that come in life, this is your book. It was such a lovely story to cozy up with and I will miss all of these characters now that their story is complete.

My only slight quibble is that I felt the ending was a bit rushed after the slower pace through the rest of the story.

Than you to Atria books and NetGalley for the eARC novel in exchange for my honest review.

I feel like this is like so many stories that take place over 70 years, in that the first 20 years take 1/2 of the book, and then the speed accelerates so that the next 30 is almost all of the last half of the book. And the last 20 years literally goes by in 25 pages. So I guess you could say that the timeline is..uh...not great.

Otherwise, this was mildly enjoyable, and certainly not hard to read. I can't really imagine recommending this to people, though. I just don't know who the reader is.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

This book was received as an ARC from Atria Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was so stricken by the writing of Jennifer Weiner. This book was so brilliantly written and the story left me curious to research the sisters more because I was so intrigued by their lives and their adventures with their families. I also find a story like this inspirational to read when the primary focus is on self-discovery. We tend to be caught up with all the struggles, issues, and problems in the world that we forget who we really are and what we were meant to do in the first place. I also love the fact that this book is also a historical fiction novel that captures the essence of the 1950s and transports you into the decade following the sisters along their travels and adventures.

We will consider adding this title to our Fiction section at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Mrs. Everything is one of my very favorite Jennifer Weiner books! I love books that span several decades with family members and that's just what this one does. Jo and Bethie are sisters living the America dream that their parents have worked so hard for them to have. This tale spans from the 1950s to the present day and covers a variety of topics with a heavy emphasis on women's rights and equality. The reader really gets to know the sisters and their strong dynamic. You'll laugh and cry by the end of this book. Read and enjoy!

This book struck me in the hesrt from the author letter! I loved it.

Jennifer Weiner is a wonderful story teller. She creates relatable women characters who you fall in love with. I could tell thst this story was personal and real and it made it that much better.

From the hard relationships between mothers and daughters, to the bond of sisters and then the societal pressures woman place on themselves and have placed on them this book covered it all.

There were some funny moments and many moments that made me cry. I loved it!

Told through the eyes of two very different sisters and through the span of 4 decades. It made a mad men feel and completely transports the reader to that time.

Where do I even begin? This book had my attention and heart from the first words in the author’s note.

Mrs. Everything follows Jo and Bethie, two Jewish sisters growing up in Detroit in the 1950s. The book tells each of their stories as they grow up, leave home, get married, have kids (or not) and find (or hide) themselves.

Jennifer Weiner’s books have always been among my favorites and her books are pretty much auto buys for me. The instant I saw she had a new one coming out, I preordered it. When I saw it on @Netgalley, I immediately wished for it and nearly died when the publisher, @atriabooks, granted my wish for the book. (Still keeping my preorder, because I fully believe in supporting authors and buying their books.)

Mrs. Everything just might be my top book of 2019. I know it’s still early in the year, but this book masterfully tackles hard and triggering topics. Weiner painted a beautiful narrative and presented two wildly different characters, yet I was drawn to and related to both in different ways.

As I read, my heart broke, not only for the sisters, but also for all the women who’ve followed similar paths and found a way to fight so no woman ever has to walk alone or broken.

This book was perfect from the beginning until the very last page.

I have always loved Jennifer Weiner's novel and Mrs. Everything was no exception. I felt immediately connected to the main heroine and her emotions resonated with me. I kept thinking about this fascinating drama long after I finished reading it.

I use to love Weiner's first books. However, in the last several years, she has obviously tried very hard to work her way around the words "chick lit" which is too bad.

Weiner can write a good story and I love that she interjects it with humor, but Mrs. Everythying is not that.

It is a book that drags and is incredibly boring.

I did not care for any of the characters, mainly because the story was so boring.

I wish she would go back to what she does best.

Another fantastic book by Jennifer Weiner! This book starts in the 1940s and proceeds to present day following two very different sisters through their journey of life. The author added so much detail to each time period, its obvious she did lots of research. Could not put it down. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

What a absolutely outstanding book. Mrs. Everything spans the 1950's to present, with Weiner telling the story of women, and interpersonal relationships. Friends, mothers, daughters, lovers, spouses, exes, and beyond. Weiner's writing is as expected, beautifully done. Weiner goes a bit deeper then her other titles, into topics such as gender identity, sexual identity, spousal abuse, rape, love, and loss. Highly recommended.

A story of women's relationships with each other: mothers and daughters, sisters, friends, and lovers. Full of love, loyalty, disappointment, pain, and misunderstandings as women break each other down and build each other up on the way to creating a life of their own.
