Imagine that Alice has returned from Wonderland with fantastic stories about her adventures. Naturally, her family believes she has gone completely insane. At the age of 15, they decide to have Alice committed to an asylum where she is locked in a room and supervised by an ill-tempered nurse. Alice speaks to a doctor who decides she must undergo strange procedures to rid her of her lunacy. The white rabbit rescues her from the institution and brings her back to Wonderland. She then finds herself right in the middle of a dangerous assassination plot against the Queen of Hearts who is still beheading anyone who displeases her for even the smallest infraction. The story is told from the perspective of both Alice and the Queen, which gives us some insight into the mind of the tyrant. The familiar characters from the original story return in this imagined continuation, along with some new ones like Thomas, the son of the queen. When Alice and co. find themselves on the way to the chopping block, they must plot together to outwit the Queen.

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite stories so I knew I had to read this book. I definitely enjoyed it! It was dark at times and full of intrigue, but also included clever bits of dialogue that made me actually laugh out loud. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of either the Disney movie or the original story by Lewis Carroll.

Interesting take on Alice in Wonderland. I'm always intrigued by these types of books but this wasn't as good as some out there. It held my attention enough to finish it though.

This was a sort of Shakespearean twist to the original Alice in Wonderland tale. All the characters were madder than usual and everything was all topsy turvy. In this version, at the age of 15 Alice was in an insane asylums after her parents admitted her because they believed her to be insane after her assurances that she’d been to a place called Wonderland. But when the White Rabbit re-appears asking Alice to come back and help them with a rebel mission to kill the Queen of Hearts, Alice has no choice but to return when the alternative would be getting an assumed lobotomy at a hospital in Switzerland.

Through many twists and turns, Alice realizes that her place is in Wonderland where she isn’t judged nor thought of as weird. This story was definitely entertaining and it brought a lot of similar “mad” feelings as the original version of this tale did.

This novel is a good one that I’ve read this year! The characters are so dynamic yet relatable. I loved the flow of the story. It held my attention the whole time.

I received a free copy for an honest review.

As much as I like Alice and Wonderland, I couldn't quite connect with this one. The writing style was a struggle to me while reading, which affected the rating

I enthusiastically began reading Ever Alice on my flight to Disneyland ready to enjoy a retelling of the wacky and wonderful Alice in Wonderland. I enjoyed my reading of the story, but was slightly underwhelmed. To be fair, I had a great many distractions including visiting Disneyland and not having much time for reading, a full time job, and full time school work as well and I rarely found time to return to my reading and remain invested in the characters plights. I enjoyed some of the upside down, backwards and wacky aspects of this return to Wonderland, but much of the contrary meaning of words get forced and not as fanciful as I’d wanted. Alice is mostly an observer and not an active participant in her experiences. I was also put off by some aspects which were references to our world, such the Marilyn Monroe copy cat character and her singing Happy Birthday in a sultry fashion. No thank you. And without sharing any spoilers I’m really torn on whether I enjoyed the ending or disliked it.
I did like reading Ever Alice and of you enjoy retelling a of classics and fairy tales you may also enjoy this book. But I can’t say that I loved it.

I could never get into this book. I just overall didnt care for the characters or the plot. I might try something in the future by this author

I DNF’d this book because of the writing style. It was quite confusing and I felt it was worded weirdly. I wanted to like it because it’s a historical-esque novel, but it just didn’t do it for me.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this novel via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was psychologically thrilling (or maybe taxing is a better word?) and had an interesting premise. I had a hard time connecting to the writing style, however. It was not my cup of tea.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for the early copy!

I could not connect with the writing style and decided to put it down.

Although I read this book I wasn’t captivated like I expected to be. It’s a retelling or rather what possibly could of happened after the story we all know and love. I read it but it wasn’t really for me

Overall, not a bad book, but nothing terribly exciting either. Pretty simple and not as much fun as I would have expected. If you're a sucker for Alice retellings, then go for it, but I wouldn't call it anything legendary.

It was a bit hard to get into this book, into the story as it is not at all a retelling, but more of a failed continuation of Alice in Wonderland.

Sadly I did not enjoy this as much as I would have liked too.

Not quite the retelling I was expecting, but better!

I love authors that take classic texts and spin them on their heads and give you the not so happy-ever-after. Often I close books and wonder, 'what next; and Ramsey has answered that in a way that is both faithful to the original but places it firmly in the realities of our world.

I, personally, could have lived without the dual narrative, as that is not really my personal preference, but I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone that loved Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

While the story was just ok, it meandered all over the place and the character development was lacking. Also, it didn’t seem nearly as whimsical as the original. However, it was a great premise but it was only touched on in the beginning and end.

Thank you so much to Red Rogue Press and NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I have tried so many times, 4 to be exact, to read this book and I’m finally admitting defeat. I love the story of Alice in Wonderland and I thought I would really enjoy this. It’s not what I would call a retelling, it’s more what happens to Alice after she returns from Wonderland. The idea of a book about after Wonderland sounded amazing but this book lacked so much. It wasn’t as fantastical or whimsical as the original and the dialogue was so boring and all over the place.

I feel if you’re going to write a continuation of a classic you should at least attempt to make it as great as the original.

I had to DNF this book - it wasn't for me at all. I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and I am always looking for good retellings but more often than not, they let me down and this was no different.

An entertaining book with a satisfactory and dark ending. I would certainly buy this book for me or others. It didn't quite live up to my expectations however, it is a good read.

I loved how dark and quirky this book was. It was stunning. I also loved how many of the characters they kept true to the original. It felt like more of a sequel to a future Alice rather than a new book entirely.

It was like greeting an old friend who had a new story to tell you.
