I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book started out totally different from any other Fern Michaels's book I've ever read. I thought I was reading a mystery but never fear along came the romance. Great writing, fascinating characters that keep you turning from one page to the next. Wonderful reading! Enjoy! 📚
Best-selling author Fern Michaels once again presents a mystery/thriller with some romance to sweeten the plot. In this book, CJ (Carol) is the assistant to Congressman Snapper Lewis when she sees an unknown man threatening Snapper in his office. Later, the Congressman is found dead in his office and it is ruled a suicide. CJ can't believe that Snapper would take his own life and she digs into the situation and finds that there may have been some criminal activity in his past. Afraid that she may be in harm's way, CJ runs away to a town in New England where she becomes close to a boat captain. Great characters plus a thrilling story make this a four-star book for me!
Thanks to Kensington Books for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is the first book I’ve read from Michaels, I found it to be fast paced at times, the mystery was good and with a wee sprinkling of romance it made it an enjoyable read
CJ has lived a life with so much tragedy involved. First her parents are killed in an Accident and then her brother is accident
So , she is skeptical when her boss and ( mentor ) commits suicide.
CJ feels it deep in her gut that he was murdered.
This starts a wild ride and a another great Fern Michaels read !
Carol Ann CJ has had a rough couple of years. When her parents were killed in a car crash her brother steps up to take care of her. When her brother is killed in a boating accident CJ is lost. She's the assistant to congressman Snapper Lewis. The only thing that she has at this point is her job. When she under covers corruption with her boss in the mix of it she's not sure what to do. After the suicide of her boss CJ is wisked to a small coastal town. Can they keep her safe? Is being close to the water a good idea with loss of her brother from a boating accident. This book was a fast paced read. I was hoping that CJ's life would make a turn for the better.
C. J. works as an aide for a Congressman. When her boss commits suicide she is convinced it has to be murder. Her investigation leads her down a dangerous and emotional path.
This book held my interest but it wasn’t a 4* book. It had suspense, romance, some laugh out loud humor, and a few twists. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
Suspenseful, funny, with great character and story development. Being a big fan of Fern Michaels pays off every time.
An incredible plot with intriguing characters. I really enjoyed the relationship CJ had with Colin, it was very heart-warming. In fact, the relationships formed between the characters were all enjoyable. It was especially fun to witness the relationships forming as CJ started to expand her world. The story had some very suspenseful moments as the plot thickened. As well as, some hilarious OMG moments that kept me chuckling.
I have been a fan of Fern Michaels forever, so I was super excited to read this story. But I have to be honest, this story just didn’t live up to the qualities I’ve come to expect from a Fern Michael’s book. Like I mentioned the plot was good, but there were details that just didn’t line up for me. My frustrations over these little details took away my ability to truly appreciate the story. If you can overlook little details then you’ll have no issues. The characters are interesting and likable. The romance was small, but there towards the second half of the book. Watching CJ grow and learn to live the life she deserved was entertaining.
A most heart warming and exciting novel---I loved every word and every page! Fern Michaels delivers a title that will have the reader emotionally engaged and cheering the main character to overcome her challenges/obstacles and fears to find herself and find home at least.
Thank you for the opportunity to have read this book prior to publication--it was a delight all the way!!!
I've always enjoyed reading the past books by Fern Michaels and this book hasn't disappointed me. Likable characters, a plot that pulled me in from the first page and great dialogue.
Since her older brother was killed in a boating accident, CJ has lived in his former home and is wealthy enough that she works merely to have something to fill her days. She doesn't enjoy any of her wealth. She overhears harsh words coming from her boss' office, not aimed at her. Suddenly her life is turned upside down and is seemingly in someone's cross-hairs. The books has just the right amount of suspense and romance, but the ending leaves something to be desired, too hurriedly wrapped up. It was satisfying , but not,, You will know what I mean when you read the book.
First and foremost thank you Netgalley & Fern Michaels for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Deep Harbour in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely LOVED this book, I've never had the pleasure of reading anything from Ms. Michaels previously and this was a gem to be introduced. Suspense, Mystery meets romance this book draws you in from page one. It's a well developed fast-paced adventure wrapped up in approx. 300 pages. I adored the main characters CJ & Collin, Ms. Michaels descriptions of the supporting cast some well had me literally laughing out loud. This is a summer must so add it now to your Goodreads to be read list
I could not put Deep Harbor down, Fern Michaels is one of my favorite authors and proved to me again why I love her books so much. She has a way of grabbing your attention, and adding suspense to a novel, but not in a bad scary way that makes me need to walk away, but in a way that I needed to know what is going to happen next in CJ's quest to find the truth. This book has heartfelt moments, suspense, and love. Fern goes into great detail about the charters backstories that makes you really root for them. I can't say enough good things about this book.
This was a good book, it started out a mystery then turned romance with some mystery thrown into the mix. A bit of a surprise ar the end, but a couple of loose ends kept it from being perfect. Enjoyable book.
Deep Harbor is the latest offering from Fern Michaels. It's everything readers have come to expect from the author: intrigue, dynamic characters, romance, a few twists and turns and a well written thoughtful story. Don't miss this book. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Deep Harbor is a classic Fern Michael's story: enjoyable characters, a twisty plot wrapped up in romance. CJ has endured much loss in her life and hers is rather stagnant. Then her employer dies and she uncovers dark secrets about him. Forced to go into hiding she finally finds a love interest and the story ends with an unexpected curve at the wedding.
I have heard about Fern Michaels being a great writer of mystery and romamce and it is true. This was the first book I read by thebauthor, and the characters and storylines were great. Some surprise and some predictable outcomes. I plan to read more of this author in the future.
Another entertaining read by Fern Michaels! I got hooked with Fern’s Sisterhood series. This book about political scandal, WITSEC, and a cute romance thrown in was wonderful. The book also reminds you to take your life one day at a time, but also to follow your dreams!
(Will post to Amazon and Goodreads once released.)
