In a Badger Way by Shelly Laurenston is the 2nd book in her wild crazy exciting and hilarious Honey Badger Chronicles. Trust me when I say, if you have not read Shelly Laurenston, you are missing not only a gem of an author, but so much fun as you read each and every one of her books. I cannot say enough about Laurenston, as she continually has me engrossed in the story, which has a lot of action and violence, but at the same time I am laughing all the way. Needless to say, I adore Shelly Laurenston and cannot get enough of her books. Now for my review :)

In the first book of this trilogy, Charlie, the oldest sister was the heroine. She was an awesome heroine, tough, respected and devoted to her two younger sisters, as well as being the sister who is always in control and feared the most. They are Honey Badgers, but hybrids; together all three made a wild crazy and terrifying team. In a Badger Way, the youngest sister, Stevie is our heroine, and we can help but love Stevie; she is the child prodigy that everyone wants, even at times to kill her. Stevie is a genius in everything she does, whether its music or physics, but she has a flaw; she has anxiety panics and when scared, she loses control and shifts into a huge tiger monster.

What I love about this series is that the three sisters are there for each other, even if they also fight against them. In this story, Charlie and Max are always helping to protect Stevie, even if she can handle herself, if she stays in control. We also get to meet many of the other shifters we have met previously, like Blayne, Irene, Dee Ann, Jess, just to name a few. It will be Irene who will convince the Stevie her sisters and MacKilligan family to help bring down a group that are planning a drug that will neutralize hybrids.

Shen Li, our hero, is a panda shifter, as well as a bodyguard. Shen finds himself spending more time trying to protect Stevie, then what he was hired for. But living with the MacKilligans is a non-stop wild ride, and life will never be the same. Stevie likes have Shen around, as she find the panda cute; in a short time after all those around him (especially Max and Charlie) hint that something is going on between him and Stevie. Shen begins to realize that he enjoys being with her and her sisters; he was the perfect person for Stevie, not only protecting her but helping her learn to control her violent anger and shifts.

What follows is an exciting adventure that was also fun-filled, wild & crazy action, three great sisters, wonderful secondary characters, and so much hilarious laughter. I cannot wait for the next book. If you have not read Shelly Laurenston, you are missing an author that always gives us fantastic stories. When it comes to fun, crazy, hysterical and exciting, with fantastic characters, no one does it better then Shelly Laurenston.

Shelly Laurenston's books always have strong characters with the strangest quirks. 'In a Badger Way' is the second book in the Badger series and these three sisters keep amazing me. There are a lot of characters from previous books, so it does help to have some background to fully enjoy this book,

This story has plenty of family relationships (both the good and the bad) to think about; some outrageous fight scenes (that somehow include humor); and even an all around wild ride.

I love the strong female characters, and Stevie has to be my favorite with her combination of brains, strength and sweetness. She is not as crazy as her sisters, but she can be much scarier than Charlie and Max.

Okay, Shen, the panda has won heart. That is all I can say.,

I received an ARC of this book which was provided by the publisher via Netgalley and this is my honest review.

Stevie MacKilligan is a honey badger hybrids, a brilliant scientist and terrified of bears. Shen Li is a panda bodyguard for a child genius that Stevie is mentoring. Stevie and her sisters are vicious hybrids because their no-good loser father liked to play the field. He also robbed another branch of the family of millions.

When shifter bodies start turning up, partially shifted in death, Stevie is sure that someone is trying to cure shifters, something she desperately wants to do because her hybrid is hugely destructive and uncontrollable, she also think she knows who it might be.

Let me start by saying I love Shelly Laurenston and I love her books but I have to say this one did nothing for me, I felt like it was a roll-call of characters from every previous book just thrown into the mix, there were too many plots and too many characters. Stevie was bit like Irene Conridge (who features in this book) but not as good, in fact I think that having so many much-loved characters in this book just highlighted that Stevie and Shen just weren't as memorable.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book (hey, its still Shelly Laurenston, one of the funniest writers on the planet) but compared to some of her previous books this was a bit of a hot mess.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I love the MacKilligan sisters, especially Stevie. She's afraid of bears. And she doesn't like to be startled. Somehow she keeps finding herself in situations where she encounters both, bears and being startled. One bear doesn't seem to bother her and Shen finds himself wanting to protect Stevie. Even when he doesn't agree with her decision to meet with a man that they believe is experimenting on hybrids. While protecting Stevie is Shen's idea of what's happening, Stevie's idea is totally different. Will they ever agree on what's happening and also be able to stop the experiments?

Stevie and Shen’s book!!!!!!

Honey badger-tiger shifter Dr. Stevie Stasiuk-MacKilligan and her sister’s do everything for each other and when other hybrids are being threatened she ends up with bodyguard panda shifter Shen Li.

How do I describe any of Shelly Laurenston’s books? Be prepared to laugh out loud and never plan on reading just one more chapter before going to bed of any Shelly Laurenston’s books because it will not happen! You need to read Hot and Badgered first because it is about Stevie’s sister Charlie and then we get to revisit many of the characters of Shelly Laurenston’s Pride series and Magnus Pack Series (P.S. you really need to read them) also appear in The Honey Badger Chronicles

I can’t wait to see what she does with Max’s story! Shelly Laurenston is on my auto-buy list without knowing anything about the book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really love this author. I haven't read a book by her that wasn't good. I love how her books make me laugh. I especially like her characters, each and every one of them are crazy hilarious in their own unique way. There shifter breed greatly influences how their human side acts.

This one features a giant panda bear, Shen, and a honey badger/tiger hybrid, Jenny.

Jenny is a genius, this helps to contribute to her being very socially awkward. She has super anxiety, especially confronted with bears in anyway, but not pandas. She can't control her freakishly large, extremely strong animal form. Her sisters keep her close in order to stop her from destroying the world and try to shelter her from everything acting as a buffer between her and real life. Shen is an extremely patient man. He loves bamboo, has a lot of friends, and is typically levelheaded no matter what situation he finds himself in. He somehow finds himself in the position of being Jenny's protector.

At first I didn't like the idea of the the two of them being a match. I really wanted Jenny to end up with one of the bears that terrified in the begining of the book. I am happy to say that by the middle of the book I was rooting for Shen.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light romance that will have them laughing out loud. I do recommend tat you start from the beginning where thus world that the books is set in began, The Magnus Pack series, but starting with the first book in the Pride series works almost as well.

I adored this when I originally read the first few chapters. 5 stars. But reading the entire thing now I just could not immerse myself in the story. Whether it’s because I’m in the midst of a Veronica Speedwell thing. Or because I continue to struggle with contemporary romance. Or because I’ve read too much Laurenston I just keep thinking about other things during this read.

I like the MacKilligan sisters. I loved Charlie and Berg’s story. Here it felt like too much focus on other characters. We had at least 3 story lines going on. We had visits from a bunch of our favorite couples.

Nothing felt fresh. Everything felt frantic. And I just couldn’t get off the page and into the story.

****Review of first few chapters****
I got a little sneak preview of this from Netgalley bc the first book in this series is one of my #Bestof2018. I cannot wait to read about Stevie and Shen - and all of their friends. Laurenston is amazing and funny - telling sweet, charming stories that brighten my mood. I’m stoked for the rest of this.

Throw out your normality and enjoy this ride of blow-your-head-up crazy fun.
It's even better than the first one!

I absolutely love these insanely violent and crazy girls, and I was actually laughing so hard that I had tears rolling down my cheeks.

If the cover misleads you to think this is a romance - it's really not. What it is, is a hilarious, action packed, very very funny, story with vicious but loveable characters.

Wow, Charlie, Max and Stevie are at it again. I love Shelley Laurenston books. Her fast-paced, hilarious storyline pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages until the end. There are so many amazing characters in her books. There are funny and laugh out loud moments from the beginning until the end. I love these snarky, sassy take no prisoners sisters. I can't wait to read the next book.

I've been patiently waiting for this book ever since I read the first in the series. Charlie, Max and Stevie are some of the craziest and badass heroines I've read. I get suck a kick out of women who grown men fear.

I would suggest reading Hot and Badgered first. There are many side characters in this series with the main focus on the three sisters. This one features more of Stevie but where Stevie goes, so does Charlie and Max.

This was very entertaining with some pretty outrageous scenarios. I can't tell you how much I laughed out loud reading this.

There is also a lot of violence. I feel that's to be expected with as many shifter breeds that are featured, but this is a step above. These women will do anything to keep each other safe and they are more than capable.

The romance aspect is on the slower side but it just as entertaining. Stevie has decided that she and Shen are dating and he doesn't really have a say in it. They are a perfect match. Stevie is neurotic and Shen is as calm as can be.

I loved the glimpse we got of Charlie, Max and Stevie as they were young girls. It explains so much as to why they have grown up to be the way they are. I'm really looking forward to Max's story next.

I can’t not wait for this to be released! @Netgalley had a little teaser as an advanced readers copy for a review. Which I grabbed with both hands I adore Shelly Laurenston.

This instalment features Shen Li, a giant panda shifter and Stevie MacKilligan is the youngest of the three MacKilligan sisters—the one they protect.

I’m not sure how I’ll manage until the full copy is published in March 😫 it’s so good! Funny, quirky and action packed!

EDIT: I managed to get my hands on the full release and man oh man it didn’t disappoint. I ADORE strong intelligent women, but I especially adore a man (or panda 🐼 in this case) who doesn’t feel threatened by it. Bloody love Stevie and Shen such an adorable couple! And don’t get me started on sisterly bond. LOVE LOVE LOVE this book 📚

Previously had just read the excerpt for this book, and was not impressed. Glad I took a chance on the full book, and I loved it! Another great hit by a wonderful author. This one has Stevie, who has two crazy half sisters that are a mixture of a variety of shifters, but all share a honey badger as a father. Shen is a panda, who is a security guard for Kyle, Stevie's friend, and therefore is around Stevie a lot, and sparks and snarky comments abound. Hard to put this one down, and one I highly recommend. Has a dark element too, but it is not overwhelming. Great author, story and series. Keep them coming.

4.5 Stars

After having read the preview, I was excited to get the full length version of Stevie and Shen Li’s book. Shen Li works as a body guard for Stevie’s best friend Kyle, a jackal shifter, who like her is a genius prodigy with her specialties being science and music. One of three half-sisters, each with different types of shifter mothers, who were raised together always seen as outcasts. Stevie is the youngest who is very sensitive, especially to bears which is a problem since they are staying in a bear neighborhood. She has always been protected by her very lethal sisters, Charlie and Max MacKilligan. Their father wanted boys, but life is full of disappointments. Stevie is a honey badger hybrid with some very unique attributes. Everyone seems to want to own her extraordinary mind and talents including the government and scientists who mean little Stevie harm.

Shen agrees to guard Stevie while her sisters try to figure out who is kidnapping shifter hybrids and experimenting on them in a deadly way. They also have to deal with Scottish Badger cousins visiting who are not amused at the sisters’ worthless, idiot father who swindled them. Shen is a peaceful, bamboo loving Giant Panda who is basically happy all the time. He has quite a challenge protecting Stevie since she has panic attacks with strange freak outs and often causes mayhem wherever she goes.

As in the first book of the series, Hot and Badgered, this one is quite a mix of humor, adventure including a high body count, and a romance that sometimes takes a backseat to the all that is going on. Ms. Laurenston has a talent for making bizarre situations humorous in a very creative shifter world. Her shifter heroines may look like ordinary women, but they pack a big punch. Max, the middle sister’s book is next; I am sure with her wild proclivities, it will be a crazy, outlandish free for all.

5 star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In a Badger way was such a fun read I spent much of it with a big smile on my face or laughing, which I have come expect with Shelly Laurenston. I love the humour snark and sarcasm she injects into her books.

This was Stevie and Shen’s book I was so looking forward to this just from there interactions in the previous book I knew it was going to be good. There is so much going on in this story it grabs you in and doesn’t let go until the final page.

We also get to catch up with characters from other series, so there were multiple POVs but it was in no way confusing it’s clear and easy to follow everything that’s going on.

There’s an ongoing storyline which carries over from the previous book which will be interesting to see as the drama unfolds and where it’s going to lead.

What are the twins going to do next?
Who’s gonna make the mistake to cross the sisters?
Can these badgers get any more entertaining?

The romance was perfect for them poor Shen didn’t stand a chance no way was Stevie letting her panda go, he was all hers. And once they got going well they kept on going it was lots of hot steamy goodness. They also supported each other I liked how his crunching bamboo relaxed her if it would have been me I would have whacked him on the head with it lol but they were very cute together.

And I loved wild dog night that was amazing I wasn’t sure what to expect from the sisters they definitely surprised me those scenes where fun.

I enjoyed my visit to this world and can’t wait for the next book.

Thank you to Netgalley for generously providing me with the opportunity of this ARC

I always have a great time with all the shifters and I know one thing for certain, I am never bored when I read them. There is a lot of moving pieces throughout the book (as per usual with a Laurenston book) that I truly believe for maximum enjoyment, you should read her previous books. There are so many great characters that you want to know them all since almost all of them are in each story. I mean you don’t have to, but come on, why would you not want to read them? Everyone is so awesome!

Ahhh I love these crazy badger sisters. They have rock solid loyalty to each other and I giggle a lot when they fight with each other. The one thing that I wish we got more of, is Stevie and Shen time together. There’s a ton on Stevie and her two sisters, but I really felt Shen was a secondary character instead of a main one. The parts they were together were all kinds of wonderful but I just wish there was more togetherness. What’s hard is that there is soooo much drama and chaos that surrounds the sisters that there was a time or two that I forgot about Shen. But I still dig that happy panda who likes to hang out in a tree while munching on his bamboo. Seriously, so adorable.

I can’t wait to read Max’s book. That girl is scary crazy and it’s going to be fun watching her fall in love. Talk about gird your loins!

There’s never a time I won’t read Shelly Laurenston when she produces amazing stories like this.
This is the continuation from Charlie’s story and now follows Stevie the other hybrid MacKilligan series and showing her with her panic attacks from her fear of bears!
She’s a prodigy and is also has mental health issues, they visit their friends Kyle’s parents house the Louise Parker’s when Stevie shifts after Blayne tries to hug her from behind. This culminates in damage to the property and a trip to psychiatric shifters. We see Shen always in the background in his bodyguard capacity watching Kyle and watching the drama unfold for the MacKilligan sisters.
I love these books for the humour and the by play between characters there’s so much and Shelly manages to have multiple storylines running together simultaneously but most of us are familiar with this from her other series which she easily merged into this as we see a few faces from past books.
A wonderful, hilarious, hot and action packed book as ever bring on Max’s story I can’t wait!

Great fun romp of a book, with an interesting cast of three violent and funny shifter sisters, and their crazy family. Obviously part of some long running series, there was a huge cast list of characters, that were a little hard to keep track of, so I would recommend that you read the earlier books first if you want to understand the context a bit better.

The book was funny, and I really liked the hero, Shen, a calm and happy go lucky panda shifter who is a great foil for the more angst ridden heroine Stevie, and her sisters Max and Charlie.

I lop Ed the funny touches, such as Shen’s passion for eating bamboo really noisily, used as a plot device to irritate people.

The plot concerns an ex-boyfriend of Stevie’s who is suspected of experimenting on shifters, and also how genius level brain Stevie, who is an accomplished scientist and musician, can cope with her panic attacks and nervousness in many situations, so that she doesn’t shift into an enormous honey badger and wreck buildings and people.

I particularly liked the way Shen was not at all threatened by Stevie’s intelligence, and also how Stevie was the pursuer in their relationship.

Lots of fun, although I think I need to read the previous series to understand the relationships and context of many of the characters.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The MacKilligan sisters are back and the over the top ridiculousness they bring is fantastic here. I adored Shen and his relationship with Stevie although it started out quite odd...which for Stevie is too be expected. We get to see a few of our past favorites...or at least mine, long time no see Miki and my favorite dysfunctional family of prodigies. I always enjoy the overlapping storylines this author is masterful at putting together. If you haven’t read this author..go to the beginning and work your way here, and don’t forget the Crows(my personal fav series of hers) and if you are a fan...you will not be disappointed, just impatient for the next!

This is a review of the teaser...not the entire book.
I absolutely love this authors work, she never fails to deliver quirky characters that draw you in and engage you. I’ve loved Shen since we first met him, who wouldn’t want to hug that big panda? The MacKilligan sisters are an absolute riot and I am so happy to get more of them. For lovers of this author this will be a must read, if you haven’t read her work go to the beginning and make your way here. I feel a reread of her work coming on just from this teaser.

I loved the explosive characters and their snark. In fact they are certifiably insane and slapstick comedy funny. Max and her unload her glands gagged me then make me chuckle. These characters are anything but ordinary. This author has a unique style and always makes her stories memorable. Truly I alternated between shaking my head or giving an evil chuckle. And to say nothing about The Zing!
