Miri is a strong, well written character who develops nicely through out the story. She is given a chance to grow beyond her village by being selected to join a class to be educated for Royalty but deep in her heart she will always be a villager. Through that connection she is able to help in ways previously unknown and unremembered to save her fellow classmates.
