Blake’s sometime boss and friend James Cooper told him he had a visitor. He owned Sorenson Aviation . Blake’s Bell 206 helicopter was being loaded with supplies. He saw the hot woman headed his way but he had no idea who she was. The woman introduced herself as tori Michaels. Blake had taken a job with PTS Security also. Bringing his experience as a military pilot and the assets of Sorenson’s Aviation to the job. He had to get going his job was to go to a safe house to one of PTS Security’s clients. He had learned women were fickled when his wife celine had filed for a divorce while he was in a hospital bed wondering if the doctors could save his torn and mangled leg. Tori wanted to interview Blake- her job depended on it- for an article in Everyday Heroes magazine. He said he didn’t do interviews and he had a valid reason. She was wasting hers and his time. He had to get in the air. The owners of PTS Security were all former Seals and they had become his friends as well. Blake lived in the mountains . That’s what he wanted mountains and seclusion. Blake had fifteen years as a pilot for the Navy Seals. Thirteen years as a Special Forces team leader. That had burned a lot of things into his memory. Tori’s husband had been a military pilot but now she was a widow with a six year old son named Isaiah. Her house had been foreclosed on and she was struggling to support Isaiah and herself. Tori is attracted to Blake but swore she’d never get involved with another military man. Blake is attracted to tori but had been badly her by Celine.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved it dealt with veterans working together. I really loved the danger, suspense, and action in this book. At times it kept me on the edge of my seat. Tori and Blake had hot chemistry. I loved Tori and Blake together and that she accepted his help and used his home as a safe house. This was a fast paced romance. There was a lot of emotion in this book which was great. I advise you to read the other books in this series for a smoother read. I enjoyed the pace and the plot. I loved Isaiah and felt he added to this book. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and I recommend it.
For the Love of a SEAL is the third novel in Dixie Lee Brown's Hearts of Valor series and it's the second novel in the series I've read. Since I absolutely loved the second book in the series, I had high hopes for this one, and while I liked it marginally less than the previous novel, it was still a very good read that kept me turning pages until 4 a.m., and it gets 4 stars from this reader.
Tori Michaels is the widow of a former military man and has a son, 6-year-old Isiah--she's low on money and needs to find a job to keep a roof over son's head. One point that bothered me was that she and her son should have been receiving her husband's military life insurance and pension, as well as his social security, but none of those sources of funds were ever mentioned and it was a dropped thread that shouldn't have been dropped in my opinion. Tori is now trying to land a job as a reporter at Everyday Heroes magazine, and her first task and the test that will land her that job is getting an interview with the elusive Blake Sorenson, a former Navy SEAL who is now employed at PTS Security. The magazine owner/editor is David Donovan, and there's something sleazy about him from the moment we first meet him. Tori tackles her assignment with steadfast gusto, ignoring Blake's unwillingness to give yet another interview after being touted as a brave wounded warrior, although the failed mission that ended his career as a SEAL, wasn't a success in his eyes because he lost two of his SEAL brothers on that ill-fated mission, and he has the PTSD nightmares to prove it.
In fact, Tori is so adamant about getting the interview and getting that job that she climbs onto his helicopter just as he's about to take off on a delivery mission for PTS. Blake was immediately attracted to the beautiful Tori, and takes off with her aboard. They're almost to his drop off point at a safe house when they are tailed and attacked by who Blake believes is a neo-Nazi hate group who wants to kill the family that he and his former military partners at PTS Security are trying to protect. Tori, who has hated helicopters since her late husband died in one in front of her and their son two years earlier, traumatizing both of them. What looked like a accident at that time was really an intentional suicide, as he explained to Tori in the suicide note she found when she returned home after his death. She's sworn off dating anyone in the military ever again, but her attraction to Blake is as strong as his attraction to her.
The fact that Tori was aboard the helicopter, which was so easily tracked and attacked, and the fact that a GPS tracker was found on Tori's cell phone, leads Blake and his fellow agents to suspect that Tori was a plant, in cahoots with the neo-Nazis, and that she led them right to the safe house. Until the group can prove that she's not working with the hate group, she's viewed with some suspicion, but that doesn't stop the mutual attraction building between her and Blake, and the attachment her young son begins to feel for Blake, the first time he's shown interest in any other man since witnessing his father's fiery death. The PTS group, the protected family, Tori and her son are all soon moved to Blake's well-hidden safe house which is loaded with security features, but that's just the beginning of the action in this thrill ride of a novel, and just the beginning of the on-again, off-again relationship between Blake and Tori, as she struggles to cope with the situation she's now in, and her need to get the interview that is the prerequisite for landing the new job.
There's no shortage of action or hot, steamy sex in this novel, but I would have liked to see a little more depth in the relationship between the two main characters, as well as getting a better understanding of the many secondary characters in this novel, although I'm sure that will come in later installments of this series. All in all, this novel was a complicated, emotional, suspenseful, exciting and intriguing read, and although I was correct when I guessed the identity of the person(s) behind the attacks midway through the novel, it certainly didn't hamper my enjoyment of this novel from the start to the HEA ending. It was, quite simply, a darn good read, and I'm happy to recommend it, but strongly suggest reading this series from its inception.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

M/F Military Romance
Triggers: Kidnapping, Murder, suicide
Blake is a retired SEAL. He has great friends and loves working in security. While doing a drop for some people they were protecting, he meets the feisty Tori.
What ensues is a series of events that lead Blake to second guess who Tori says she is. There are two different mysteries in this story, and I think they played off each other well. Watching Tori and Blake learn to trust and love was something that was well developed.
I really liked that despite their issues, their communication didn't stink in this story. And while I was frustrated at times, I really enjoyed all of their banter back and forth.
Overall, this is a fast-paced romance book that hits you in the heart where it counts.
I absolutely loved this book. Dixie Brown has a way of bring her characters alive. You almost feel like you are a part of the story. I acutely ugly cried through this book. Ugly crying is the sign of a very emotional, amazing book.
Kinda of a bit far fetched even for me. I mean how many things can actually happen to the same person on the same day?!? I know this is fiction but I am sorry for me it actually needs to at least have a sense of believe-ability in it.
I haven’t read the other Dixie Lee Brown’s Hearts of Valor series, but this one was action packed. I could not stop reading because of the roller coaster ride this book took me on. Blake is part of a new security team made up on retired Seals, and Tori is a reporter looking for a story. This premise leads to so many twists and turns but thoroughly enjoyable. Really enjoyed this read and will read the others.
This is one series where I've actually enjoyed each successive book over the previous one and this third installment in the series was a great, HOT read! I really liked the duo of Blake and Tori as they played off each other's personalities well to create a strong couple, though it was pretty rocky at a couple of points. That isn't to say this outing was perfect because there was one HUGE plot point especially that was problematic but honestly even though I recognized it, it didn't really bring the story down for me. For me, the characters new and old were the biggest draw and hey, even the kid didn't bother me! (Which is pretty rare, lol!) I especially love the interaction between the guys on the team with the addition of Kellie (from 'Honor Among SEALs') bringing some feminine kickass to the mix. I'm really looking forward to the next outing with the team from PTS Security!

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington's Lyrical Liaison line for the chance to read this early!

PTSD is different for everyone, some become successful and others have tragic endings. Tori's husband had difficulty adjusting and therefore she'd sworn off a future with a military man. One little assignment to interview a hero, Blake, turned her world upside down. Blake's team came together to help fight the unknown enemy, and struggled to find the reasons for the attack. There's plenty of action, intense suspense, mystery and heated romantic encounters that make you blush. Definitely something for everyone to enjoy. And a six year old kid, that's too smart for most of the adults, stole many scenes. I received my copy through Netgalley, review was voluntarily written.
Another great read in this series and as book three it is also a standalone read. This one about Blake and the action and adventure he goes on to get involved with Tori and her son Isaiah. It involves a lot of the security team but easy to follow along on the story.
For the Love of a Seal is a solid story with a good romance mixed in. Romantic suspense at it's best. Nice characters and plot.
An ex-military love story between Blake former SEAL and single mother Tori. If Tori wants to keep her job she must interview Blake but there is a problem bleak doesn't do interviews and because her future depends on the job she jumps in a helicopter with Blake and their adventure begins. Their lives are jeopardized, bad men are after them and Blake has to make sure that Tori is not involved in some bad things. Of course in between the commitment-phobe and a girl who sworn off the military men's fall in love. I liked this story better than previous it is more interesting intense and I liked that is not predictable. There is action, in and out of bed and Tori and Blake have their HEA.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
These SEAL stories from this author have been captivating. Not only is the story a romance, but it contains action and suspense as well. Blake and Tori were great strong characters and the plot kept moving at a very comfortable pace. Characters from the other two stories were included as well which was good.
The only thing that was lacking for me was the ending didn't give me, the reader, the final full picture I wanted.
Also in chapter 7 the author indicates that Sally and Jen may come up for the weekend which they never did and no explanation was ever given.
I bet Coop's story will be just as good.
Tori Michaels is desperate. Her husband Ken, former military, suffered from PTSD and died leaving her the sole support of their son. Her boss has told that unless she gets an interview with former SEAL Blake Sorenson, she will lose her job. She and her six-year old son Isaiah have already lost their home and now may be evicted from their rental. Tori takes a chance and gets in Blake’s helicopter as he is leaving to deliver supplies. Blake works for PTS security and the supplies are for the “safe house” where his company is protecting a man and his family. Even though he is attracted to Tori, when incidents start happening Blake wonders if Tori is after an interview or involved with the hate group. If this is only about the hate group, then why is Tori a target? Tori, although attracted to Blake, swore that she would never get involved with another military man…too much heartache. This is a wonderfully emotional story as Blake will go to great lengths to protect Tori and her son, while Tori finds strength that she did not know she had in the face of continuing attempts on their lives. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
For the Love of a SEAL is book three of Dixie Lee Brown’s Hearts of Valor series and I’d like to start by saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed the series as a whole and each story and the characters portrayed. Unfortunately this story has questionable gaps, such as Blake’s easy acquiescence to a pushy reporter when visiting a supposed safe house. Really? Didn’t anyone else find this rather ridiculous behaviour by an Alpha protector type? I must admit that this lapse in credibility made it hard for me to move forward in the story and diminished my overall view of the story. I didn't hate the book, but it definitely wasn't my favourite of the series; however I will persist and hope what comes next is more genuine.
Love, love , love this series ! So much action and suspense and hot romance! Great to get Blake’s story . We had a little tease of him in the last book , but he’s a favorite! Tori and Blake together!!!! So good ! And the bad guys , really evil ! I was fortunate to read an early copy from Netgalley but will definitely buy a copy to add to my other Hearts of Valor books.
Book three of Hearts of Valor, gives us the story of former SEAL Blake Sorenson, one of the members of PTS Security. He’s a pilot with his own air charter company and a man many consider a hero. He’s private , divorced and has no desire to have a serious relationship.
Tori Michaels is a single mom trying to make a living as a reporter so she can support her son and herself, a widow of a military man, and definitely has no desire to getting involved with another military man.
She’s been assigned to interview Blake for a heroes magazine. Even when he refuses , she gets on his helicopter and that’s when the action starts.
Too many near death experiences are happening. Is Tori a mole for the bad guys with the assignment of getting Blake killed, or did she just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?
This is a story filled with action, bad guys, hunky good ones, and a guessing game of whodunit. The main characters, Tori and Blake are well developed as well as imperfect , which makes them more likable.
Another engaging book by this talented author. I am looking forward to what else she has in store for us.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I can't believe that Tori would go near anything that is not securely on the ground at all times. Too many helo and plane crashes for me. Blake is as calm as can be through all of it. Must be that SEAL training.
For the Love of a SEAL, is full of suspense that kept me guessing.
After looking over the other reviews, I'm clearly the odd one out in not caring for this book. So take that with a grain of salt. I will say that I loved the previous book in this series.
The biggest issue I had with the book was that for someone who owns a security company, I found Blake to be really stupid. LOL Probably not the right word, but still that's how I felt. Let's start from the first chapter. Strange woman shows up at his office, tells him she's a reporter and then when she climbs in the helicopter with him, he allows her to accompany him to a safe house? No one vetted her, no one insured she wasn't going to tell the story of who was being hidden by the security company.
Later, he makes such a big deal about her safety that he insists he needs to accompany her to Portland and that she should leave her son behind. Yet, he leaves her alone halfway through dinner and returns to his room. No excuse/reason is provided. When she feels she's in trouble, even though she has her phone it doesn't even register with her to call him. I didn't find it believable that he would leave her and go upstairs, especially since he didn't like the boss. I expected him to be watching from somewhere or that she was wearing a wire or something.
These are just two examples of poor decisions that really didn't fit with Blake's job/role in the story. Additionally, unlike the last book, I really struggled to feel the connection between the characters. He was head over heels from nearly the beginning but I struggled believing it was more than just a physical attraction. I just didn't feel a connection between the characters.
Overall, I just didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous book in the series. I'm looking forward to the other character's stories though.
** ARC received from Netgalley **
**I received a copy of For the Love of a SEAL from Net Galley and Montlake Romance in exchange for a voluntary and hones review**
For the Love of a SEAL by Dixie Lee Brown is the third book in her Hearts of Valor series. I've read all of them and feel like this could be read as a stand alone even though all of the characters from PTS security have a part in this story. This is a solid four stars but I'm curious who will get their story next?
Tori Michaels is learning to move on after her husband's suicide after suffering from PTSD. She's also raising her six year old son and living as frugal as she can. But her new job at Everyday Heroes has her seeking an interview with Blake Sorenson. But accidents start to happen with both Blake and Tori that could be either related to his newest protection detail for PTS security or his prior military service?
Blake Sorenson hates reporters but when Tori jumps in his helicopter he admires her bravery. What he doesn't know is that she won't date anyone military can he convince her to take a chance? But first they must find a way to figure of why someone wants him dead because two aircraft accidents later can't be a just a random attack. Can they both survive kidnapping attempts and figure out a way to see if they love each other and make it work?
This is my kind of suspense! Fast paced with little or no lag in the middle, and no insta-love or rushing to get between the sheets.
This story goes from 0-60 before you even get to the third chapter. After the first attack, it isn't much later, after the dust begins to settle, that we're caught up in another adrenaline rush. In fact, Dixie Lee Brown has us on the edge of our seats throughout a good portion of the book. She has a great writing style, with just enough detail to get your blood pumping. I liked all of the characters, especially Blake and Tori. Blake is definitely an alpha male; a sexy flirt, and in his mind, unromantic. He's more than capable, and has a touch of tenderness just when you need it, but he's definitely no pushover. Tori is sweet and brave, but she does have a few moments where I wanted to shake her and say "Are you crazy!?" Together though, they make a terrific pair.
My thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the pleasure of reading and reviewing For the Love of a SEAL by Dixie Lee Brown.
