Jill Gardner has just been told by her boyfriend Greg that his mother is coming to town and she wants to meet Jill.

A per normal Lynn Cahoon spins her plot like a fine web. Well written with a great cast of characters.

These books are just a joy to read.

Picturesque South Cove, California, is the perfect place to celebrate Mother’s Day, but not everyone is feeling motherly…

Jill Gardner, owner of Coffee, Books, and More is almost out of Mother’s Day cards. She has a few more in stock, but she’s set them aside because she needs Greg’s help choosing one for his mother. It’ll be Jill’s first time meeting her boyfriend’s mother, and she’s understandably nervous.

Turns out Jill isn’t the only one having feelings about mothers. Kyle, who works at the antiques store next door, needs to find the perfect card for a mother he hasn’t seen since he was five—when she went away to jail. But her arrival in South Cove isn’t exactly celebratory, her behavior toward her son unexpectedly restrained. Piqued, Jill discovers that a mother can never be replaced…

Any of Lynn Cahoon’s stories are always worth reading.

I am reviewing a copy of Mother’s Day Mayhem through Kensington Books and Netgalley:

Jill Gardner, is the owner of Coffee, Books and More. And they are almost out of Mother’s Day Cards. She only has a few in stall, but she has put them aside so Jeff can help her pick out a card for his Mother. She will be meeting Jeff’s Mother for the first time, and she is rightfully nervous.

Jill isn’t the only one concerned about Mothers. Kyle who works at the antique shop next to Jill’s Book and Coffee shop. He needs to find the perfect card for his Mother he has not seen since he was five when she went to jail. Her arrival isn’t exactly celebratory, and the way she acts towards her son is strained.

I give Mother’s Day Mayhem five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

This book is different from the others in the series as the mystery doesn't revolve around a murder but rather in tracking down someone's mother. The characters are well written, engaging, and lifelike which makes them seem like old friends. The mystery was well written and had a couple of twists and turns that lead to a conclusion that wraps up nicely even though it is a little sad.

I like that Jill and Greg are the perfect match for each other and that gives their relationship some nice chemistry. I do wish that Jill and Greg would either get married or at least move in together.

I received an arc of this book from Netgalley and Lyrical Press by way of Kensington Books for my review.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is a trip back to South Cove, California. This is a novella in the series. Jill is trying to pick out a card for Mother's Day for she will be meeting Kyle's mother for the first time. It is a quick little cozy mystery romance. I enjoyed the quick read and would like to read more in this series.

Mother's Day Mayhem is another entertaining story in Cahoon's Tourist Trap mystery series. I always love returning to South Cove when Cahoon releases a new book, and these short novellas are such a treat. Mother's Day is coming close, and Jill finds herself getting ready to meet Greg's mother for the first time. Jill is nervous about this meeting, but she finds a distraction when Kyle brings to her a mystery concerning his absentee mother. Wanting to help out a friend, Jill decides to investigate so that Kyle doesn't get hurt.

Cahoon does a great job at setting up an entertaining story despite its short length. The story-line and mystery fit in perfectly with the Mother's Day holiday and provides Jill with two tasks: helping a friend and meeting her boyfriend's mother. I also enjoyed how these story-lines also brought to her attention her own relationship with her Aunt Jackie. Overall Mother's Day Mayhem proved to be an entertaining read that I would most definitely recommend. I look forward to reading Jill's next adventure.

Received a copy of Mother's Day Mayhem through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

this was a fun, quick read. The characters all shared one problem, how to make Mother's Day perfect. They learn in the long run, it's all about who you spend it with. The ending will make your heart smile!

Mother's Day can be hard on anyone but especially meeting your boyfriend's Mother on Mother's Day. Jill also wants help another friend find his birth mom. This was a short story mystery that reads very quickly. This one was a nice addition to the Tourist Trip Series. I look forward to the next one in the series.

This fill-in novella of the Tourist Trap series centers around what the title suggests - mothers. Jill is finally going to meet Greg's mother and it is a bit apprehensive about the upcoming encounter. To take her mind off it, she steps in to help a young man who works next door to her shop who thought his mother was dead but has been contacted by a woman who says that she's his mother. This was a great way to keep the characters moving forward in their development with just a light mystery.. FUN!!

If you like a quick read then you will enjoy "meeting" Jill Gardner and her friends in the town of South Cover. Jill is coffee shop owner who has a knack for solving mysteries with or without a dead body. Unlike most cozy mysteries this one does not have a dead body.

Mother’s Day Mayhem

by Lynn Cahoon

You don’t have to have a good relationship with your mother or your child to enjoy Lynn Cahoon’s Mother’s Day Mayhem. This novella provides a quick, enjoyable, themed read. Lynn Cahoon is a big proponent of “sometimes, the family you make is just as strong or stronger than blood.” Another nice feature of this book is that although there are mysteries (where ARE those missing garden gnomes?), there are no murders.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Kensington Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 5/5

Category: mystery

Notes: a novella in the Tourist Trap series

Publication: April 2, 2019—Kensington

Memorable Lines:

Life was good. Or it would have been if Greg hadn’t thrown a stone in the pond. Now, I had to deal with the ripples his request had caused.

“You’re never making a mistake by making yourself vulnerable. You’d regret it more if you didn’t take a chance.”

“Bite me,” the kid called back, speeding up even more. Greg sighed. “Not my circus, not my money. But if it was, that kid would be sitting in my office waiting for his folks to come and get him. Sometimes people need to know that respect is an important part of building a community.”

An amazing novel! The characters are well-drawn and truly pull at your heart strings. I couldn't put the book down till I reached the final chapter. Highly recommended.

Both moms and mysteries play a big role in this visit to the charming tourist town of South Cove, California. Jill Gardner, who often stumbles across murder, is surprised by boyfriend Greg's announcement that his mother is coming to town and Mother's Day will be the perfect time for them to meet. Kyle, who works at the antique shop, has been trying to reconnect with his own mom and Jill can't resist trying to help. These novellas have done a lot to fill in small gaps in the larger Tourist Trap series and I like how it is a great way to visit with some favorite characters.

Jill Gardner, owner of Coffee, Books, and More needs help selecting a Mother’s Day card for Greg’s mother from her dwindling supply. Jill is supposed to meet her for the first time on Mother's Day. Jill is not the only one who is having anxiety over Mother’s Day, Kyle, who works at the neighboring store is trying to find the right card for his mother whom he hasn’t seen for a long time. Kyle’s mother was sent to jail when he was 5 and he hasn’t seen her since. He recently found her on social media and reached out to her. Is everything as it seems with Kyle's mother? Can Jill survive a Mother’s Day meeting with Greg’s mother?

This is my first book in the series, I was able to enjoy the book, however, I feel I would have better understood the characters if I’d read the previous books. The characters are interesting. Although the mystery isn’t a murder mystery it is well written with several twists to keep the reader engaged. This type of novella is a wonderful opportunity to get to know characters a little better. I recommend this book to cozy mystery fans.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

This book was a pleasant but light read. It was about the way many characters were going to spend their Mother’s Day. A subplot was about how they were trying to find another character’s rightful mother. Although there were many characters, at least 16, they were a friendly crowd. This book can be read in one setting. Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me an advanced reader’s copy.

I enjoy these novellas to keep me up to date with what is happening in South Cove, California. They are lighter than the full novels, and the mystery is not usually a murder. It's almost Mother's Day and Jill's boyfriend has asked her to meet his mother on Mother's Day. She is a bit apprehensive of this big step in their relationship. The other story in this book revolves around Kyle, an employee at the antique store, who is hoping to reconnect with his mother who he has not seen since he was a boy of five. He has recently found her on social media, but she seems to be reluctant to get together. In Jull's normal fashion, she takes it upon herself to help Kyle and find out if this woman in legit.

The mystery in this novella was very light, focusing on locating Kyle's mother. The familiar characters were all there and it was nice to catch up with them. My only issue was that this mystery could have been easily solved by having Greg check out the prison first, where Kyle's mother had been incarcerated. I always enjoy a visit to South Cove and look forward to the next book in the series.

Jill Gardner is the owner of Coffee, Books, and More. Jill is nervous because her boyfriend wants her to meet his mom for the first time, for a mother’s day meal!! It turns out Jill isn’t the only one having feelings about mothers. Kyle, who works at the antiques store next door, needs to find the perfect card for a mother he hasn’t seen since he was five.

Kyles mom went to jail and is now reaching out to him. She suddenly gets cold feet and stops wanting anything to do with him. Jill decides to find out what the story is and help Kyle get the family he deserves.

This is the first book I have read from this series and will definitely be reading more!

This is book 10.5 in the Tourist Trap Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone and is listed as a novella. Jill and Greg are now officially a couple and he wants her to meet his mother for Mother's Day. It's a big step but she is ready. Meanwhile, Greg is searching for his Mother who abandoned him with his Grandmother at a young age. He's discovered she was in prison and is living not too far away. Jill and Greg decide to visit her and find nothing but mystery and questions. Good story and a nice catch up with all the familiar characters. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

So this was a short story/novella. I've read the other books in the series and I was somewhat disappointed in this. The plot felt rushed and there was very little character development with the supporting characters.
