Mother's Day Mayhem is Book 10.5 in the fantastic Tourist Trap Mystery Series. I loved this Novella centered around Mothers Day. This is the 4th Novella in this series and I absolutely loved it.
The plot was well developed with characters we have come to love in this series.
A great quick read with a wonderful story
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review
This is a novella and apparently there are 10 books before it.
Mother's Day Mayhem manages to introduce the characters in a way that doesn't seem overly expositions which is just the way I like it!
The mystery is interesting and is wrapped up in a way that makes sense.
I really enjoyed this one!
What do you do when one of your favorite authors doesn’t have another book in the series coming out soon? You hope and pray for a novella to tide you over!
With Mother’s Day coming, Jill Gardner is blind sided by her boyfriend’s request to meet his Mother for lunch that day. Jill’s still a little gun shy after her divorce, but she eventually comes around and is ready to meet the potential future Mother in law.
But this novella isn’t just about meeting the boyfriend’s Mother, it also takes on a resident of South Cove who hasn’t seen his own Mother since he was a child. Because South Cove residents care about each other, Jill wants to help the mother and son heal the ages old rift. It’s what people who care about each other do…and the community of South Cove truly cares about their own.
A good quick fix as we wait for the next entry in the Tourist Trap Mystery series.
This was a nice, quick read with wonderful characters. It was easy to follow even though I hadn’t read any of the previous stories. It follows a shop owner & her cop boyfriend as she tries to help a friend & obsessed over meeting her boyfriend’s mom. The mystery takes her mind off of some of her worries. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters & the small town feel of the community.
This is a novella installment in the Tourist Trap mystery series. This story involves the intricacies of family and what that means. Jill is getting ready to meet Greg’s Mother and she is nervous as she wants her to like her. Kyle who works next store is trying to reach out and connect to his mother who left him with his grandmother but her later learns she had been in prison. He is looking for Jill’s help to connect with his biological mom. Quick read.
Mother’s Day Mayhem is the latest novella in Lynn Cahoon’s entertaining Tourist Trap Mystery series. This is a clean and quick read with well-developed and likable characters. As with the previous novella in this series, there are inconsistencies regarding the status of the characters and their relationships. This emotional story focuses on the importance of friends, family, and community.
Jill Gardner, the owner of Coffee, Books, and More in the small coastal town of South Cove, California, and her boyfriend, Detective Greg King, are enjoying a weekend getaway in Reedsport, but Jill wants to do a little snooping while they are there. Josh Thomas, the antique dealer who owns the building next to Jill’s shop, expressed concern for his young employee, Kyle Nabors. Josh confided in Jill; telling her his mom left him with his grandmother when he was five and later learned she was in prison. He recently found her on Facebook, contacted her, and arranged for a visit, only to have her change her mind and ask him to leave her alone. Since Kyle’s situation doesn’t involve an official matter, Greg is more than willing to help Jill with her investigation. Greg invites Jill, her aunt, Jackie, and her aunt’s boyfriend, Harrold, to join him and his brother, Jim, and their mother, Amanda, for Mother’s Day Brunch. Jim has made it known that he doesn’t care for Jill and she’s concerned Greg’s mother will feel the same.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Love this series and the little novellas that give different glimpses into the full story. A bit of a different take on the usual with finding the long lost mother rather than a body. As always enjoyed the trip back to the small town with wonderfully fun characters.
This novella was awesome. I enjoyed it a lot. My favorite line- "You look like a country song." or something along those lines. It made me laugh. I liked this mystery. It was a change from the murder kind. A great one sitting read. Family drama included. Don't miss this read!
Mother's Day Mayhem by Lynn Cahoon was another enjoyable addition to the Tourist Trap series highlighting Mother's Day in South Cove.
A quickly paced story featuring Jill and Greg working together this time to solve a mystery for another South Cove resident. It was an emotional story regarding families, both biological and the family a person creates with friends and community. An easy afternoon read that kept me turning the pages until the the end.
I really enjoyed this story. This is a novella that actually takes place before number 8. It appears to be not in synch with the rest of stories. Sasha & Toby broke up in book 8 because she took a better job with education benefits in another town and in book nine Greg & Jill are living together. They are not in this book.
Despite the inconsistencies. This was a quick easy read. This story is centered around mothers and Mother’s Day. I liked that there was a mystery but not a murder.
Lynn Cahoon is a fabulous author who captures my attention with every story she writes.
There are no better words to describe these books except for absolutely satisfying.
I love little cozy mysterys thank you for the opportunity to read this net galley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book
I enjoyed this book, but I felt that it lacked a bit. It needs to be longer. The ending/solution seems to come out of the blue. It seemed like the author got bored and just skipped a lot of the middle, when right to the end, sent it in and went off to party.
I received a free copy of MOTHER’S DAY MAYHEM (A Tourist Trap Novella) by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. After dating for a year, Greg King asks Jill Gardner to meet his mother on Mother’s Day. No pressure there! When Kyle, a young man who works next door, confides in Jill that he has been in contact with his estranged mother and is trying to get her to visit, Jill, eager for a distraction, jumps at the chance to investigate Kyle’s mother and possibly persuade her to agree to the meeting.
This was an entertaining short story. No murders in this tale. I recommend it.

Short but good, although I wish this series had less novellas and more full length books. But it’s still one of my favorite series, and I especially liked Mother’s Day Mayhem. Instead of a dead body, this time, Jill and Greg help Kyle find his estranged mother, and Jill is finally meeting Greg’s mother, and she’s very nervous about their Mother’s Day brunch.
