This book reminded me of a mix of Shadowhunters and Supernatural. There were a couple original parts thrown in.
I am not sure if it was the writing style or something else, but the main character who was supposed to be 18 came off as 14. She was too childish for 18. She also took little responsibility for her actions or non actions.
I like my fantasy with romance, but I don’t like when the romance overshadows the fantasy and is the main focus., I felt like it did in this book. I also didn’t think the romance was that great. I found Zayne to be kind of predictable and boring.
I did think the Wardens were an interesting race and that it was an interesting decision to make them so anti-female.
I am curious to know more about the Harbringer and what he has planned.
The ending was the best part of the book for me. It was predictable, yet I didn’t think the author would choose that direction or how it played out. I am curious enough to know what happens next that some day I’ll read the sequel.

Pretty sure Jennifer L. Armentrout could write anything and I’d enjoy this. Definitely loved getting back into the Dark Elements world and catching up with our boy Zayne and other favorites; plus we meet several new characters!

And of course curious to see where this goes next!

I truly enjoyed this book and will be buying the physical copy soon to add to the shelf which I rarely do. I loved this book and there is nothing better to do with a good book than to have it in your hands and worn down over time as you read it again and again. I can't wait for the next book and thank you for being so brave to incorporate your own experiences and fears into the book. It took it to an entirely different level.

I started reading this one but didn't hold my interest. I though the concept was good but I wish I could have connected with the characters more.

The first book in this series, Storm and Fury, by Jennifer Armentrout was such a surprise!

When a group of gargoyle-shape shifters come to protect mankind, I have to say this was a first for me, and I loved it. Trinity and Zayne were my faves, and I can’t wait to continue on reading this series.

I highly recommend for readers looking for a new Fantasy and romance to binge!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Inkyard Press for the free copy for review. All opinions are my own

I have not had the time or interest to get through this book, unfortunately. I requested based on the author and would love to get to it eventually.

From the start, the mention of gargoyles in Storm and Fury’s blurb had me intrigued. I don’t often read paranormal books, but given my only experience with gargoyles is Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I had to know what Jennifer L. Armentrout would do in her story.

With her special ability to communicate with ghosts and spirits, Trinity Marrow must be protected by gargoyle shape-shifters. However, news soon arrives about a danger that threatens Trinity’s safety. In a whirlwind of action, flirty banter, dramatic twists, and fascinating world-building, the subsequent story unfolds, and it is a whole lot of fun.

Storm and Fury is a spin-off of Armentrout’s The Dark Elements series. Though I have not read those books, I still could easily enjoy this one—but I imagine there are cameos and references that will make the reading experience for fans even better.

Well well well. What can I say about about Jennifer L. Armentrout that hasn't been said before. She is a freaking genius. I have yet to read a book by her and be disappointed. I loved being back in this world and experiencing these life experiences with these characters we thought we had said goodbye too. I was not ready for this book to ruin me as much as it did. Zayne still has a soft spot in my heart. Looking forward to the next ones.

I've read a couple of Jennifer Armentrout's books and always enjoyed them especially the Lux Series. So, of course, I was super excited for this new spin-off series even though I've only read the first book in the original series, White Hot Kiss. This was an easy and enjoyable read. It had me interested from the very beginning and despite it being a bigger book it went super quickly.

I'm always a sucker for a good supernatural book. It's not too often that you read about gargoyles, so that was a unique storyline! The main character, Trinity is 18 but she seemed younger. She felt a little immature at times which I think some of that was due to her being shelter. But I'm hoping her voice/writing grows up a little in the next one!!

The real highlight of this story was sweet, sexy Zayne. Wooo. *Fans myself* I absolutely loved him even when he was frustrating me!!! The love story going on in this was angsty and my favorite part for sure. I couldn't get enough of the chemistry between them.

I felt like the book really took on a life of its own towards the end. Despite some of the struggles I had with this, I still really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book! I'm excited for where it's going to go!

Love this series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. When I heard she was going to continue this series I was so excited and had to read it. I was not disappointed. I will recommend this book at my library.

Clay Armstrong is cute, just a few months older and wants a kiss. Clay is much taller than Trinity's 5'8. Clay seems friendlier than the other wardens. Wardens don't mix with humans. Wardens train to be warriors. Wardens protect humans and themselves from demons. Misha is Trinity's protector. Trinity has mystery power that is growing stronger. I liked Trinity and Misha in the beginning. Trinity is tired of others paying for her safety.trinity is in the mountains of West Virginia. I liked the fact that Trinity was in the south. I didn't think the tone was too childish. Trinity is stunned by Zayne when they meet. I liked the chemistry between Trinity and zayne even though it's far from easy and perfect♥️

I realized as I was reading this book that I had handicapped myself by not having read the Dark Elements series, first. (They're on my TBR!!) I LOVED the idea of this story, so I continued, but I'm looking forward to reading the other series to learn more.

I was drawn to main character Trinity's ability to work past, and through, the limitations of her degenerative eye disease, and embrace the other skills she has. I haven't read many books that spotlight a character's flaws in quite the same way. Knowing that the author suffers from the same disease served to endear Trinity to me even more.

The story was exactly what I hoped for. Just the right amount of action and drama... fantastic worldbuilding and magic systems... interesting characters and relationships. I don't know that every character made the choices I would have WANTED them to make, but the story picked up and really took off, and my hesitations were easily set aside.

Overall -- it was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. I'll definitely be catching up with the original series, and I'm looking forward to the next books in this series.

Unfortunately because of my personal reading device I'm currently unable.to reading devices I don't currently have access to this title. I do plan on reading this in the future, it breaks my heart to be unable to read it at this time.

This book was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The mix of gargoyles and humans was very intriguing and kept me hooked. The characters were great. Some of my favorite parts were Peanut the sidekick ghost. His little comments and references were amazing. It was a little bit long, but that doesn’t stop me from giving it five stars. I also loved how the main character had an eye disease but that didn’t seem to stop her from loving her life to the fullest. I did not realize this was a spin-off. I have not read the other books, but this book made complete sense without reading them.
I really enjoyed this book! I’d definitely recommend it to others and I can’t wait to read more later!

Overall, I loved the plot of this book and pretty much every character except for one. For the first half of this book, I couldn't stand the main character. She was too obnoxious, selfish, and bratty for me. I know that was meant to show how her character develops, but I found it to be too much. I also have a nitpick when the writing does to many pauses in between sentences, especially when it was during inner monologue moments, "it was...it was annoying". But with that said, the plot of the book really hooked me, and I'm glad I stuck with the book because I really liked the second half of the book. I can't wait to read the next one!!

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me through NetGalley. This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. I just lost myself within this amazing story. I most definitely will read more by this author.

I had previously read Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and rather enjoyed myself. So when I saw she had a new series coming out, and the first book was on Netgalley, I pounced to snag a copy. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to read this, but because I did I was able to read it as an audio book from my local library, using Libby.

Somehow between the years of reading Obsidian and Storm and Fury, I forgot that Armentrout was a paranormal romance author. This became abundantly clear about 20% through this book, and I strapped myself in, readying for an emotional roller coaster.

Our main character, Trinity, is not like anyone else. She lives with Wardens, aka living gargoyles who hunt and fight demons, but she’s not a Warden or a human. She’s a secret that must be kept at all cost, her life depends on it. She’s bonded to a Warden who is her protector, but pretty early on it’s clear that things are not working out as they should be. Then she meets Zayne, a Warden from another community.

At this point during the novel I began snooping on Goodreads to get the detes. As it turns out, Storm and Fury is a spin off of another series (Dark Elements). I quickly read the synopsis of those books, deciding whether I wanted/needed to back track and read those before continuing with this one. The original series is set around a love triangle, which is honestly the bane of my existence. I read through enough reviews to piece together any background information I thought might be pertinent, and continued on reading.

As the book continued, the general plot of the Dark Elements series is uncovered in such detail, that it wasn’t necessary for me to have done the extra research myself. I can definitely see how exciting it will be for fans of the Dark Elements series to get to catch up with their favorite characters and see what they’ve been up to. With each new introduction in Storm and Fury, it was like a little jolt of butterflies, knowing this had been such a major player in the previous books.

Armentrout knows how to write a paranormal romance. Hook, line, and sinker. I was in it to win it from the moment Zayne and Trinity started saving each other’s lives, taunting the hell out of each other, and shamelessly flirting themselves hoarse. It was. Hot. I was so into this book I stayed up all hours of the night just trying to see what would happen next, who would make the first move, and what disaster would befall them around each corner.

The one thing I don’t love about Armentrout’s books is how juvenile the dialogue can get. I mean, some of the stuff Trinity says could be heard coming out of a six year old’s mouth, not an eighteen year old who’s about to be naked and on top of an equally naked man two chapters later. The immature dialogue, when it appears, always takes me out of the story and makes me groan in frustration (and not the fun kind). Is she trying to prove her characters are innocent? There are other, better, ways to accomplish that. To take her male characters from saying the word ‘freaking’ to ‘f*ck’ by the end of the novel, is not great character development but a lazy cop-out.

There was an okay balance of romance and action, but at times the pacing felt just a smidge off. Sometimes Trinity would get lost thinking about Zayne, to the point where I was like, okay, something attack her already. But other times I appreciated how Armentrout actually took the time and had the characters actively working on their relationship, instead of just skirting around some of the bigger issues. This relationship, to me, was in no way problematic, which was really nice to see in this genre especially.

I did enjoy the actual plot of this book, besides just the romantic elements. While none of the creatures are novelty or unique to this story, I still considered the action, mystery, and descriptions of the metamorphosis of characters to be well done. It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite series growing up: Sweet by Wendy Higgins.

I think if the dialogue matured in the next book, this would be a no brainer 5 star review from me. But having read Obsidian in 2014, and not seeing much of a difference in her writing style now in 2020, I’m not going to hold my breath. This is a fun book to binge read, and is awesome for escapism. I felt fully immersed in Zayne and Trinity, and was rooting for these two from the moment they met. I was thrilled with how their stories ended in Storm and Fury, and will probably be picking up Rage and Ruin (which is slated to be published June 9th, 2020). What can I say, I’m a glutton for punishment, and this is my kind of torture.

I loved this book so much. I could not put it down and the ending was like being slapped in the face. I had never read anything by this author but had always seen her books on our shelves at work. I will never overlook her again.

I picked up Storm and Fury because the idea of a Gargoyle protector sounded so interesting to a Urban Fantasy/Paranormal reader I knew I just had to try this book. Now I need to do some history on this series and read The Dark Elements trilogy that precedes this book.

Angels, Ghosts, Demons and Gargoyles, what more could you want!? There is romance, action and some serious humor as well as some apt pop culture references. My favorite character was Peanut, a Ghost that stays with Trinity because he is hilarious and absolutely stuck in the 80s.

Imagine a half angel teenage girl under house arrest by a house pf overbearing Gargoyle protectors and you have Trinity. Trinity is a character who is easy to connect with, she just wants a life beyond the compound and so she naturally rebels and puts herself into dangerous situations time and time again. This is unfortunate for her best friend and sworn protector Misha, especially when he just wants a little romance.

One of the most interesting and humanizing things that the author did was give her a rare eye disorder that is causing her to lose her sight slowly causing her to be very reliant on her protectors at the compound even though she is a powerful Nephilim. I found the way the author wrote her frustration with her disorder and her life as a coddled teenager to be a interesting plot device which helped the story and character be more than a 2d image.

While reading Storm and Fury the author totally had me going, ok I got this story, I know where this is going, and loving it and then she threw a huge plot twist in and sent me on a 90 degree angle away from where I thought the story was going. I had the let me sit here for a few minutes like oh my god, did that really just happen! Oh now I need more, and book two yesterday.

I totally recommend this book to readers who would like a Paranormal Romance style novel. Just a warning, you may want to have a friend around to talk about the book to who can sympathize.
