I have always loved Jennifer Armentrout's writings. She writes romantic, funny and exciting series. If you love the Dark Elements series... you will love this one as well.

The heroine is incredibly strong and brave. Like all the other heroines in the Armentrout's series, she is also sassy and smart. The hero is romantic and swoon-worthy. They have terrific chemistry together.

Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading more!

When I saw that Ms. Armentrout was coming out with a new book that continues after her Dark Elements series, I was excited since I truly enjoyed the Dark Elements and was curious to see what happened with Zayne. I could not put this book down! It continues with the same universe and introduces new characters, but brings back some old ones. Roth and Layla make their appearances in this novel and I hope they continue to in the rest of this series. The new heroine is Trinity Marrow, a Trueborn who has been in hiding for her protection. Her blood attracts all kinds of demons, but her grace can vanquish them. She is going blind, but it does not keep her down, for she is nosy, opinionated, and does not like to be told what to do. Plus, she can fight! She does not know what to think of Zayne at first, being told to keep away from him. Zayne changed his views, believing demons were all bad, but after what occurred in the Dark Elements, realizes not everything is as black and white as the Wardens taught them. They are searching for Trinity's Protector, who was taken to draw her out. However, Ms. Armentrout creates such a plot twist that I did not even see coming. Elements are beginning to fall into place, for the end is coming unless Trinity and Zayne can work together to stop it. I cannot wait to read the next novel in the series!

I would recommend my store purchase this novel but honestly, I did not like this book and I dnf'd it. I think Jennifer armentrout's writing style just doesnt work for me because I have tried multiple of her books and liked none of them.

I liked it but I didn’t as much as I did the dark elements series. I think it took too long to get out of the MC’s home and get things moving! Once we get to the second half then things pick up! I loved seeing old characters back and also seeing Zayne’s struggles! The swoon was so freaking good so 10 stars for that!!!

Keeping her secret becomes more difficult when one of the visiting Wardens, Zane, begins questioning her abilities. Zane has secrets of his own but they will have to learn to trust each other and work together to stop what's coming.

Storm and Fury is an exciting new YA fantasy novel in the Harbinger series. The ultimate battle between good and evil with a whole case of supernatural beings including: gargoyles, demons, ghosts, witches...and more. Before reading this novel I did not know that it was tied to her Dark Elements series which introduces Zane (Warden), Layla (half Warden/half demon), and Roth (demon), which introduces their backstory and explains the tension between them in this book. The main protagonist, Trinity, doesn't let her loss of sight slow her down. She is spunky and ready to kick butt Warden, demon, or whatever gets in her way. At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like her character but as the story developed I liked her more. Trinity can also see ghosts and spirits and is "haunted" by her friend Peanut, a perverse ghost who uses the fact that nobody else can see him to eavesdrop and spy on people in inappropriate situations. The book has some comedic banter, lots of action (violence/death), and sexy Warden/Demon romance (nudity, semi-erotic sexual situations). This maybe more suited to the older end of the YA genre do to some content. A very exciting first book and I can't wait to read more in the series.

This mostly seemed to be another average fantasy novel about a chosen girl and her incredibly hot chosen love interest. The inclusion of a main character who is going blind (and by an author with the same condition) added a bit of additional interest but I did find myself wishing that element came into it more. I had some other minor quibbles - there was a feeling to the writing style as if I had missed some information, so strongly at the beginning that I double and triple checked to make sure that it wasn't a sequel; for someone who keeps mentioning how incredibly well honed her fighting abilities are even without her grace, Trinity certainly loses and/or has to get rescued from fights frequently; an over-reliance on "That it is" and "That you are" to keep scenes moving - but my main question is whether the book is strictly YA. The main character is eighteen, her love interest twenty-two, and there''s a sexual scene that's almost romance novel level. While it might appeal to fans of the Penryn and the End of Days series, I think it deserves serious consideration as at least a New Adult offering.

I was not a fan of the Dark Elements series for two reasons – I didn’t like the main character and I hated the love triangle. When I saw this book available on NetGalley, I originally passed. Once I realized the main character suffers from retinitis pigmentosa (the author has the same disease), I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did!

I loved Trinity. Like many of Armentrout’s leading ladies, she was snarky, spirited, and brave. Her vulnerability about her degenerative eye disease as well as the other events driving her life felt genuine and believable. Her growing relationship with Zayne was so precious. I didn’t particularly like Zayne in the original series, but he definitely grew on me in this book. Roth, Layla, and several other secondary characters pop-up on occasion, but they never detract from Trinity and Zayne.

I’ve read most (if not all) of Armentrout’s young adult fantasy novels and they have a similar ebb and flow to them. This book, for the first time in a long time, actually managed to surprise me. While the jury is still out on whether or not the gargoyle lore is hokey, I am actually looking forward to seeing how the world expands.

tl;dr A likable heroine, a sweet romance, and some surprising turn of events make this novel a must read for fantasy romance fans.

Such a cool story involving Gargoyles, Angels, and Demons. I’ve never read a book with gargoyles so that was a cool spin. While the ending was pretty predictable the story is very worthwhile to read!

I really wish Netgalley had a clearer system of telling you when a book is not the first in a series - or is a spinoff based off previous books, such is the case with this one. I'm a completionist who always has to start at the beginning of things, and I feel horribly guilty when I'm approved for a book and then learn it's not the first. I do think that played a part in me not enjoying this.

I did not get very far into this one at all; it was quickly apparent it was Not A Book For Me. The protagonist rubbed me the wrong way from the very beginning, and I got the feeling her violent temper was supposed to be seen as lovably quirky rather than problematic, and oh boy I just do not have the patience for this sort of book right now.

I'm always conflicted on whether to review a book here that I haven't finished (especially one such as in this case, where I put it down very early on), but do feel compelled to review the books I'm approved for, and hope it's helpful to get input from the apparent 'wrong' audience (I am clearly not the intended audience for this book). Thank you for allowing me to give it a chance!

For those of you who haven't read JLA's Dark Elements series, don't let the "gargoyle shape-shifter" thing turn you off. I promise it's not as weird as it sounds. (Just like the aliens in her Lux series)

That being said, I'm a huge JLA fan, so when I found out she was writing a spin off of the Dark Elements series, I almost cried. This book was everything I expected, but also so much more. I ADORE Trinity. She's strong and fierce and flawed, and I loved that JLA brought retinitis pigmentosa (a degenerative eye disease JLA has) into the story. The romance was sweet, the twist was heartbreaking, and getting another glimpse of Roth and Layla was pretty incredible.

5/5 stars. Perfect for anyone who loves strong female characters, angel/demon lore, a unique take on shape shifters, or (in typical JLA fashion) a swoon-worthy romance.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Jennifer Armentrout. She was a big go to for me but after I read the second book in her Wicked Trilogy I just lost all faith. When I saw this book, a spin off to her Dark Elements Trilogy, I was excited. Because I truly liked that series; I like this one even better. Same world but different, more mature.

This one brings Zayne back and introduces Trinity. She is so much the opposite of Layla that I much prefer her. Trinity is special, more so than Layla was, because of what she is and what she can do. She has to hide it but something about Zayne just makes it all come flying out.

The two of them together seemed so natural that you can sometimes forget that they just met. They’re both snarky to each other but at the end of the day they care. Their connection is genuine and you can’t help but just enjoy it. Between their smack talking and serious moments you just realize that THIS is what Zayne needed.

Trinity is a force to be reckoned with, even with going blind. It doesn’t hinder her and she takes everything in stride. She is a badass in her own right and she isn’t afraid to show it. She hands Zayne’s ass to him and in turn earns his respect.

Roth and Layla make their appearances and it’s funny because in the first series Zayne annoyed me and now it’s Layla who did. Zayne couldn’t accept her demon side and that’s why I voted for Roth. But now Layla is being a most difficult presence in Zayne’s life that I just want her to disappear. Zayne needs that distance and she’s trying to force it on him.

Zayne has learned so much in such a little amount of time that you can see how it’s changed his views. And hopefully that rubs off on Trinity who was raised with views pretty similarly to Zayne was. Together they’re perfect as a team.

I could definitely do without her pop culture references and some lingo like “fake news” but it isn’t loaded with it. I don’t like books that do that because it feels like they’ll just wither away if no one understands them and seems to flow with time without them.

In all, this book was awesome! I can’t wait for the next!

Jennifer L. Armentrout has been on a tear in writing young adult novels. Each novel brings it's own flavor to young adult literature. I have to say though Storm and Fury has a lot to offer rather than just your run of the mill YA fantasy. She has incorporated a wonderfully witty character who has overcome a disability to be the lead character in a series that looks to be one of the best fantasy series I have read. I love that Armentrout blends a real life issue into her story allowing young adults to realize that anyone can be their own hero not matter what life has dealt them. Definitely, a five star book for teens or anyone who just loves fantasy and romance.

I did a re-read(And I'm glad I did) and so I was well versed in this world and it picks up 7 months after the event's of the last book.
Trinity is a (human) living amongst Warden's, her mother bought her there when she was younger because she befriended the leader of that Clan.
Trinity has never left the confines of the compound and no one visits because, its not safe for her because Trinity isn't just a normal human.

Zayne make a visit to her Clan and immediately the two are inexplicably drawn to each other and when things start to pop off(Masked wardens and Demon's attacking, kidnappings and bloodshed) Zayne offers his aid and Trinity is whisked away from her home to DC to find answers.
Throughout her journey, Trinity get's closer to Zayne but Zayne keeps her pretty much at arms's length, even though he is drawn to her as well and well, he is still nursing wounds that happened seven months prior that left a huge mark on him and his personality.
Their relationship is a sweet slow burn and as always with this world was filled with action, witty humor and, or course swoon enduing acts.

I was never a fan of Zayne to begin with but going in I had an open mind and while I still prefer a certain dark haired demon prince(Who is in about 30% of the book, so that made me happy) I found myself not NOT liking Zayne by the end of this.
He is strong willed, sweet and loyal, but to a fault and found myself wanting to just slap him and yell GET OVER IT ALREADY! And just when you think things are settling you are left with more questions but not in a cliffhanger type of way but more like 'Oh-crap-what's-going-to-happen-in-the-next-book' type of way.
Jennifer is really, really really good at mixing the light, the funny, the snark and romance and she excels in this one hands down. I can't wait to find out what happens to this unlikely gang in the next book!

Storm and Fury is the first book in the spin-off of The Dark Elements series. I highly recommend reading The Dark Elements series before reading this one for more context, understanding of the hero's backstory, and for overall enjoyment. Storm and Fury was engaging, funny, and interesting. This book was a perfect blend of plot and character building. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Jennifer Armentrout and the Dark Elements series!

YES! Yes! Freaking Zayne! Gah! The gargoyles are back and ....it's Zayne! I was totally team Roth in the previous series. This spin off in the gargoyle/demon world takes us back to Zayne and what he has been up to since the events that ended the earlier books.

You can read this with out knowing the other series but go back and read it! This one gives us classic Armentrout characters: NA angst, blooming sexual tension, coming into the person one is meant to be, oh yeah, and gargoyles, demons, ghosts and other creatures the human don't know are meddling in their everyday lives.

No spoilers here. You will have to read to experience Trinity and Zayne's story. I was happy with the ending but I see that we may get more since this is listed as book #1 of the Harbinger series. Hooray! Can't wait to get more of this two. Trinity is a kickass heroine and she will keep Zayne on his toes for sure.

Having just finished the latest addition to my JLA library I am at a loss for words to express how I feel about this book. I can start by saying that I absolutely love this author. Every book she has written speaks to me in a personal way and this story was no different. However, I was not expecting the stirring of emotion that Storm and Fury created in my heart! Before receiving this book, I really didn’t know I needed more of the warden world. When the original story concluded putting Layla with Roth I was satisfied with where it had ended but I had no idea that there was so much more to be told. I think I like Zayne and Trinity even more. Their relationship is full of friendship, love(or should I say like), laughter and excitement. The emotional twist of this story was unexpected though. JLA adds the unusual, but oh so realistic touch of retinitis pigmentosa to her heroines backstory. What a strong message! An awful disease like this does not have to shape who you are and the impact you can have on the world. Jennifer L Armentrout demonstrates this with each book she publishes. I admire the courage it took to share such a personal struggle. Overcoming adversity everyday is demonstrated by choosing to continue living your life the way you want. Trinity does this with a powerful, attractive warden by her side which makes the story even better! Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I absolutely loved the Dark Elements series, so I was SO excited when Jennifer Armentrout announced that she was doing a spin off series following Zayne.

Let's start off with the characters.

Trinity was awesome. She's a kind of amalgamation of JLA's snarky characters. She's a fighter like Alex, witty like Katy, loyal like Layla, etc. (I know there are more, but in an effort to not have a paragraph of names I will stop there.) She was a lot of fun to read and I laughed out loud at a lot of her one liners. What separated her from the pack was her degenerative eye disease. I know JLA suffers from the same disease so I was really interested to see how she was going to write about that. It was an interesting addition to the story to see how Trinity copes with it in a life where her senses are so important.

Zayne is awesome as usual. He reminded me a lot of Seth from the Covenant series, though. It's equally a good thing and bad thing for me. It's good because I love Seth, but it's also not so great because Zayne never came across like that in the previous series. Granted, he's been through a lot so I know he's changed because of it. I really liked the progression of his and Trinity's relationship and the sort of push and pull with that.

The story itself was really good. While I didn't find it entirely original because some of the situations seemed a little recycled, I still loved it. It flowed really well and it's definitely a great set up for a potentially awesome series. I'd also like to point out that we get to see our favorite Demon, his sidekick, and our favorite half-demon.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book. If you've liked the Dark Elements series or any other series by JLA you will definitely like this one. I can't wait for the rest of the books!

I was so enticed by this novel from the title alone. From that I knew this book will be packed with adventure. Storm and Fury was a combination of Eragon, Mortal Instruments, and Twilight all in one. I was waiting for a book like this that I would be able to read from beginning to end, patiently awaiting the second installment. I really hope my wish is fulfilled and that this will become a series because I could not put this book down. This plot had drama, action, conflict and an amazing ending that was totally unexpected and a great surprise.

We will consider adding this title to our YFantasy collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I was beyond elated to receive an advance copy of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Storm and Fury! Not only was it a JLA novel, but it was the start to a spinoff series from one of my favorite series from her, The Dark Elements trilogy! In this one we meet a new character, Trinity, who will play a very big role in the events to come. Alongside her is a very familiar face too, one that about half of us were rooting for when it came to Layla’s “big decision” and of course I am referring to Zayne!

While the story is told through Trinity’s point of view, I couldn’t help but want more of Zayne’s perspective when it came to certain scenes! But that’s a minor thing to wish from an already amazing novel! Trinity isn’t your average girl; she’s not like Layla, she’s something entirely different. I won’t go into details as to what she is because I felt like it came on as a surprise when it was revealed, but it was something I was starting to suspect to be perfectly honest! Nothing wrong with that either, because Jennifer only ever gave just the slightest hints and then BAM! We get confirmation!

Trinity has always been protected by her Warden family after her mother passed, waiting for the day when her father would had need of her. Then one day a trio of Wardens come to visit her family/clan and among them is Zayne. They have a problems involving some big bad that is killing demons and Wardens alike. They need reinforcements. It’s not long before horror strikes the compound and Misha, Trinity’s best friend and Protector is kidnapped and she is more determined than ever to find him and bring him back home.

I have to be honest, when it came to The Dark Elements trilogy, I was totally TEAM ROTH! That didn’t mean I didn’t like Zayne though! I did, though there were times I hated the things that he did, but I would’ve liked to see him find happiness at some point! And this is finally his chance at happiness, though Zayne is still a little broken from everything that happened in that first series. You don’t really have to have read that one to enjoy this one. You will miss out on little tiny moments and references, but nothing that would confuse you to the story on the pages here.

Zayne and Trinity…what a complicated love match they are going to be! Trinity is a force to be reckoned with! While she may be half human, she half other too and isn’t a delicate flower to say the least. She happens to have retinitis pigmentosa, which means she’s slowly losing her eyesight. It was a bit refreshing to have a heroine who wasn’t all perfect and powerful. That she has this problem made her very relatable in some ways. While I don’t share her condition, I do have my own health issues but sight isn’t really one of them. I guess it was just that Jennifer gave her heroine a condition that she herself has, just made things seem more realistic in this paranormal-fantasy read. That even your supernatural heroes can have their health issues too.

And let me also just say kudos to Jennifer for the Supernatural references! I have always enjoyed the modern day references she throws into the story, most of which I totally get because I know which fandom she refers to! Lol!

The pacing to this was pretty amazing! It does have somewhat of a slow opening as about half the time is spent at the compound getting things set for the events to come. It might be a tad slow for some, but since I love Jennifer’s books I knew there were uber good things to come! Plus there’s a great deal of flirting and swoony moments between Trinity and Zayne in these early moments there were just adorable!

Jennifer excels at romance, no matter which age range she’s writing for! This is YA, so things are PG compared to her adult books, but it’s still rather intense and hot! I love the slowly developing romance between Trinity and Zayne. He has his issues to work through, as we all (might) know and yet, there’s definitely a spark happening between them!

One last added bonus that I was ecstatic to see were the cameo appearances of Roth and Layla! Even though this isn’t their story, I’m happy to see them again! Roth hasn’t changed a bit! Lol!!

If you’re a fan of good old fashion paranormal reads or gargoyles this is a series you’re going to want to read! Storm and Fury was mesmerizing from start to finish and the ending leaves you just a touch satisfied, yet craving ravenously for more!!

The Dark Elements series was my introduction to Jennifer L. Armentrout's writing and I was thrilled to receive and arc from netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Storm and Fury is set in the same world as The Dark Elements series and brings back one of my favorite characters so my expectations were high from the start. Trinity is living in a warden complex and hiding a secret from many of the people around her. As Demon attacks start to increase, Trinity meets Zayne, another guardian. Their connection is immediate and Trinity isn't sure what it means. When her sworn protector is compromised, Trinity chooses to search for him with Zayne's help. This story takes the reader back into a world that Armentrout carefully created before, revisits old friends and gives fan the story they were hoping for as far as Zayne goes. Full of demons, dangers, romance, passion. loss, love and a cameo by another fan favorite, Armentrout does a beautiful job grabbing the reader and sucking them immediately into this world. Trinity is a strong character and she is well written. The author shares a beautiful acknowledgement in her notes at the end that explains why she made some of the decisions she made about Trinity's character. Armentrout brings light to this rare genetic disorder, retinitis pigmentosa, makes this story even more meaningful to her fans. Well written, amazing book and I can't wait to see where this series takes us! Thank you so much netgalley for an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
