First off I love the cover of The Unhoneymooners due to the beautiful bright colors. It looks like spring/summer, which happens to be my favorite seasons. I would say this would be the perfect book to read on vacation or visiting the beach this summer.
One of my favorite tropes happens to be Enemies to Lovers, and this book had that trope until a particular secret came out between the main characters. Here’s the gist between the two main characters: Olive and Ethan. Olive’s twin sister Ami is marrying Ethan’s brother. Ami has had some excellent luck with winning contests and items, especially for her wedding. The wedding is going well until the bride, groom, and guests end up getting sick from the buffet. Olive and Ethan didn’t eat from the buffet, so they didn’t get sick. Ami encourages her sister Olive to go on her honeymoon for her since it was a contest she won and unfortunately, she can’t change dates for the trip to Hawaii. Olive ends up going with her enemy Ethan. Ethan and Olive go on the trip and end up enjoying each other’s company, even though they hate each other.
These two together are adorable even though they hate each other at first. I loved how Christina Lauren (both authors) wrote these two characters and how their stories come together. Olive is the complete opposite of her twin sister, and readers can tell immediately. Ethan is a hard character at first to like to how he treats Olive (he calls her different names, instead of Olive.) Although, he wins me over, once I got to know him in Hawaii. He’s scared of flying and buffets, which made me want to know him more since he was scared of certain items that I found strange.
Poor Olive ends up dealing with several things in the story, especially in Hawaii, and then when she got back home. I felt for her character. I liked how her family watch out for her in the story and step in to help her. Ethan also has something happen in Hawaii, which both Olive and Ethan work out together.
The only reason why this book is getting four stars, instead of 5 stars is how Ethan reacted to a specific part in the book. I feel he should’ve believed Olive in the book when she told him something about one particular character. He decided not to believe her, and it drove me crazy. I also didn’t like how another character acted when Olive told that character. All the signs were presented in the book, and everyone chose not to believe Oliver. Although, one of the characters did redeem themselves towards the end of the book. (Sorry so many mentions of ‘character,’ but I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone.)
Overall, this was an enjoyable book to read, and I adore how the authors kept me laughing with Olive and Ethan’s trip to Hawaii to spend time on their siblings’ honeymoon. (Olive’s twin sister and Ethan’s brother who were supposed to go to Hawaii.) This may not have been my favorite book, but I did enjoy the moments of Olive and Ethan in Hawaii. These two together were adorable, even though they hated each other. They hated each other for the wrong reasons, though. I’m glad though that there was a HEA at the end of this book. 🙂

Tropes/Elements: Enemies to Lovers

I have been a long time fan of Christina Lauren and this book did not disappoint. Just as entertaining as their previous works with a bit of Latin flavor. It had me laughing from the start and enjoying each moment til the last word.

Its pretty clear that Olive is the unlucky twin sister. But a bit of luck seems to come in the form of her sister and wedding party getting food poisoning. Since her sister won a honeymoon and they are nontransferable she'll step up and take the place as her sister since they are twins and she'll have to go with the other only survivor of the wedding from hell the grooms brother and her enemy Ethan. Both aren't thrilled about spending time with each other but really don't have much of a choice. Then in comes a her unlucky streak of being a terrible liar and meeting her future boss on trip and it makes things and it more complicated.
Another fantastic book by Christina Lauren! I enjoyed getting to know these characters. I loved the drama and mishaps. But most of all I love hate to love relationships and this book just did it for me. If you are a fan of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne this book, your gonna love this. I loved watching the bit of drama unfold Olive really did seem unlucky. I keep wanting to talk more about this book but find it hard without going too much into it but trust me, check this book out such a fun read.

A witty, charismatic, 0h-no-he-didn’t romcom with tons of laughs, cringes and swoon.
A Christina Lauren lol to warm all you inner parts and add joy in the best way.
A brooding hottie, a trip to paradise and pure detest....what could possibly go wrong or for the queen of unlucky ...what could go right?
I can’t get enough of Lauren’s books romantic comedy’s. Each one is an exciting little nugget for my reading eyes and my devouring brain.

“Im just a boy standing in front of a girl, asking her to love me”
Sounds familiar? Yeah, Notting Hill when Julie’s character was pleading for forgiveness. Now do a gender flip.
OMG! Meet Olive and Ethan. Two frenemies on the perfect honeymoon in Maui – just not their own. Ethan, her brother-in-law, is one sexy man who knows how to steal your breath. Ethan is a free spirited male who is not afraid to share his feelings. Its great to get a hero who is so down to earth and emotional honest. The Unhoneymooners will have you hooked after page one. It’s a fantastic read! It’s a slow burn with plenty of feisty and sexy moments. And yes, there is SEX.
Olive and her Mexican-American family are a hilarious bunch. The supporting cast of characters add so much laughter to the story. Her mom is just awesome. Her mom is worth the read alone!!!
From its awesome opening to the jaw-dropping twist in the end, its a story to make you swoon and keep you laughing . I loved how the story took a detour with a suspenseful twist. I was beginning to doubt Olive myself. I devoured it and I’m pretty sure you will too. You will laugh, swoon and even shed a few tears. Christina Lauren wrote an amazing story.

In this story we follow Olive and Ethan as they both take part in their respective siblings portion of the honeymoon after an unfortunate incident. Olive hates Ethan and would rather be anywhere else and Ethan loves pushing her buttons. This is an enemies turned lover story that is quick read.
While i usually like this kind of book i had a hard time getting into this story. Olive is down on her luck and it’s obvious that she hates that things come easy for her sister. That part i liked. But its hard for me to like how badly Ethan treated her and just how ok she was with it. I dont like when female characters are just like ‘oh ok hes hot its ok that he treats me badly’. Yes Ethan does eventually apologize and make up for it but just felt like a last ditch effort.
The story is fast and meant to be fun. In a lot of ways it is. I just had a lard time liking the characters separately and together so for me this one was a bit of a struggle to get through.

The combination of enemies to lovers and a fake relationship—with outstanding characters, fantastic writing, and a bit of a twist—made this book a quick favorite for me! This is the second book by Christina Lauren that I’ve read, and I enjoyed The Unhoneymooners even more than the last one! This is a must-read vacation book, or even just an after-work unwind sort of book. I can’t recommend it enough!
In the spectrum of romance, this one is more rom-com than anything else. It has a bit of heat, a lot of laughs, and so much charm! I love how spunky the women in Christina Lauren books are—they always have that great mix of intelligence, sass, and imperfection.
Olive and her sister Ami may be identical twins, but these two couldn’t be more different. Ami has it all together—the job, the man, the poise. Olive is a bit more of a mess—she is chronically unlucky, both in love and in life. She recently lost her job and she is in a skittle green satin bridesmaid dress serving as her sister’s maid of honor, when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from infected seafood.
Everyone, that is, except for Olive and Ami’s husband’s brother Ethan, both of whom avoided the seafood (Olive is allergic and Ethan is bougie about buffets, of course). Now they find themselves pushed into taking the all expenses paid honeymoon that Ami won in a sweepstakes, despite the fact that they pretty much loathe one another.
But as they arrive in Maui as fake husband and wife, they soon realize that maybe they don’t hate each other quite as much as they thought. Maybe they misjudged one another, took signals the wrong way over the years. And pretty soon witty banter and teasing may start to turn towards something more… But there are some twists headed their way and it may throw a wrench in everything!
One thing I really loved is that Olive and Ami don’t resent one another even a bit. Despite the fact that Ami had it all most of their life and Olive was the mess, only for things to turn the other way on them, these sisters love and support one another above all else! I’m a girls girl so I was so happy to see such a strong female bond! I also found their entire family to be absolutely hysterical and charming!
Ethan is also a really great character. He was a bit hard to figure out at first, mostly because we see him through Olive’s eyes. Getting to know the real him throughout the story was wonderful. I’d have to say, really every character (even the ones I didn’t like) were outstanding! On my second book by Christina Lauren, it seems creating likeable characters that feel like people you’d know in real life is one of their strengths.
I can’t recommend this book enough! Thank you to Gallery Books for my copy. I read this with the book besties, and we all loved it!

This was adorable! I have been a fan of this duo for a long time and this did not disappoint. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and the story overall was too sweet. I loved the banter between Olive and Ethan and just how they flowed off each other. I thought the pacing was great but was a little disappointed about the fade to black sexy times that we have all come to know Christina Lauren for having. It didn’t take much away from the story and I still loved it none the less. This is a perfect summer read that went perfect with my Florida vacation. It’s definitely another hit for me!

This story was the most deliciously addicting story I’ve read in a really long time! I could not put it down once I started! It’s absolutely going to be a top pick for 2019, I can already tell you!
The Unhoneymooners does not hold back with all the hilarious antics right from the start. This book had me laughing so hard at moments I thought my sides would burst. Christina Lauren put their all into making sure the outrageous humor we’ve all grown to love from them was all over Olive and Ethan’s story.
We start off the book by learning that Olive believes two things to be absolutely true. Number one: She has a black cloud following her and giving her nothing but back luck, and number two: Ethan is a douche and hates her guts.
While this undoubtedly a friends to enemies romcom, Christina Lauren made sure to give all the feels in the must read! Most of the time the witty dialog had me laughing and almost peeing in my pants, but this story also had some emotional moments as well that had me tearing up and even feeling ragey.
The Unhoneymooners is the whole package! I loved everything about it!

This is one of those titles that made me nervous... not because it didn’t sound good, because it really did! But when everyone I know raves about a book, my expectations are raised, and then I worry that I’ll be the one person who doesn’t like it.
I’m happy to report that, in this case, my fears were totally unfounded! The Unhoneymooners was a funny, sweet, sexy romp of a story. Ethan and Olive were just so real together and it made me want to root for them. The steam factor was just right...lots of tension, definitely some spicy parts, but light on the details.
Five fabulous stars for this title... it’ll be a very popular summer read! This was my first Christina Lauren book but it won’t be my last. Thanks to Net Galley and Gallery for a digital review copy of this title.

Olive and Ami are identical twins, but they couldn't be more different. Ami is lucky at everything & is always winning contests, which is how she was able to put on her entire wedding. Olive is incredibly unlucky - she lost her roommate, lost her job, and has to now spend an entire day with her arch nemesis, Ethan (Ami's soon to be brother in law). When everyone except Ethan & Olive get a horrendous virus at Ami & Dane's wedding, they're forced to go on the non-refundable & non-transferrable honeymoon in place of the happy couple. They decide to put aside their differences to go on a free vacation (and vow to spend as much time as they can apart), but circumstances come up that make it so they have to play the loving newlywed couple. Olive realizes that she isn't actually mad about this ... and may be starting to feel a little bit lucky.
I absolutely loved this book! Seriously, any Christina Lauren books are quickly climbing to the top of my favorites list. There was so many cute moments & hilarious banter throughout this book, and I loved Ethan and Olive so much. I thought it was great that there were random Harry Potter references throughout. The involvement of family in this book was amazing, and I loved seeing all of the tight knit relationships. This one was less steamy than some of their other books, but it was so cute & enjoyable!

I've been a huge CLo fan since their Beautiful/Wild Seasons days but have only recently begun to get into their standalones.. and I've really been loving them! Their latest is THE UNHONEYMOONERS and contains literally all my favourite romance tropes- enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and fake relationship. It's classic, laugh-out-loud (not just saying that- I laughed out loud a lot!) CLo goodness, and the PERFECT summer read. Also, the banter!! Christina Lauren always seems to write it so effortlessly. So good. Pick this one up for the best book vacation 🌺🐠☀️🏝 Thank you @gallerybooks for the arc!
PS- also, straight up one of the most gorgeous book covers I've seen, maybe ever?? Talk about a book that's just begging to be put on your bookshelf. That blue spine!

I will never get enough with this amazing duo’s mindset and incredible ability to create award-worthy stories that take you, not just along for the ride, but makes you a part of the ride. Any word will be inadequate to express of how much I loved Ethan & Olive’s magnificent love.
What I love the most about Christina & Lauren is that, even though they mostly write rom-coms, their stories always have a lesson for you to learn and are full with characteristics and situations that you can easily relate to and find in yourself too. They know how to make a fictional story have a substance of reality in it.
The minute that I saw this mind-blowing cover – I mean, JUST LOOK AT IT!!! – and I read the blurb, I knew that I had to read this book and I would absolutely loooooove it. And I wasn’t wrong AT ALL!
Ethan & Olive are a (book) couple that everyone needs in their lives. They have intensity, eternal passion, the sparks between them are just borderline dangerous, and their love story gives the classic romances we all know and love a marathon for their money. The unconventional way they end up falling in love – actually, ADMITTING that they are in love with each other – is pulled out of FAIRYTALES 101. I guarantee you, that after reading their story, you would start dreaming something like that to happen to you too. Who wouldn’t, really? Finding your soulmate in your enemy while you are in a fake honeymoon in Maui? Oh C,MON! That’s just perfect!
From the very start these two -and of course the rest of the cast (except probably Dane) – stole my heart. The way they were reacting to each other was making my heart burst and as they were progressing into their story, their interactions were becoming more and more beautiful. Their banter and arguments were simply hilarious. I was laughing my brains out!! Their name game was entertaining AF and so damn adorable. Everything about them was straight up soul-fulfilling. And then, the magic duo went ahead and created a solid 30% that not only took my breath away but, also, woke up every cell in my body that could produce and experience intense feelings and created an unforgettable emotional tornado.
I laughed, I teared up, I hurt, I loved. The Unhoneymooners easily gets a place for one of the best 2019 books.
The only thing that, in my opinion, would make this book skyrocket is if there was Ethan’s POV too. Its absence was incredibly present. I could feel it all over me. With every minute it was passing, I craved more and more a way into his thoughts, feelings, brain and most importantly, HEART. That’s the only reason I put a 4.5 and not a perfect 5. Otherwise, this book is a Perfect 5 for sure!
Whoever has read Christina Lauren knows that, after reading one of their books, the recommendation words are not even needed. That goes by default. They are scarred on the duo’s names.
I can’t wait for the next CL project and mayybeeeeee a spin off of this couple? Eh, Christina & Lauren? 😉

4 Stars
I love me a Christina Lauren book, they can almost do no wrong. This time they take a woman who always has bad luck. no, really everything goes wrong and her sister has everything perfect.
We get a man who cannot stand our gal and both are related to a wedding party. By a fluke, this time they both have great luck as they are the only ones who do not get sick from the reception meal. A honeymoon trip is offered to them, the wedding couple too sick to go...
Enemies become lovers and the question is will all of this wonder survive once the honeymoon bubble bursts.

This book was absolutely hilarious! As someone who also deems herself to have quite bad luck, I related a TON to this book as I read it and loved the face that I legitimately laughed out loud while reading.
This was a quick read for me. I read it in one sitting and it was one of those that just left me full of happy.
Olive and Ethan were a hoot. They were the enemies that you knew were going to be more as soon as you read their first interaction. There was that chemistry that dabbles the fine line between love and hate.
Throw in a big twist that you really don’t see coming towards the last 30% and I was completely enthralled in this read.

Christina Lauren is the perfect duo. They put a great spin on their newest book with the brother of the groom and the sister of the bride being forced to go on a vacation together. Olive is the unlikely heroine who always has something wrong happen to her and Ethan is the guy that always has it together. I loved how their relationship grew during their time together on the vacation and when they come back. Olive’s growth during the book is on point too, she learns more about herself and finally believing in herself instead of running away from everything and just blaming bad luck. And when she finally gives Ethan a chance she finally sees that she can have everything she wants.
Olive just wants this wedding to be over. She is over all of the free things her sister always gets and she just wants to get away from the Ethan, the guy who hates her and she hates also. But what are the odds that the only two people who don’t get sick from her sister’s reception are herself and of course Ethan.
Ethan just wants to be done with this wedding and to get away from Olive. They have never gotten along from the start and he can’t stand being around her. But when the entire wedding party and guests get sick and only he and Olive come out of it without getting sick he knows something is up. Especially when his new sister-in-law tells him and Olive to take their honeymoon trip.
Olive and Ethan think it’s a crazy idea but at the same time the can’t say no to a free vacation. But can the really be around one another for that long without killing one another? As they spend time with one another they begin to find out that maybe they do have more in common and that maybe the attraction they both felt when they first met wasn’t a fluke.
But will they be able to continue their relationship once they get back home? Or will the lie that they have started on vacation come back and haunt them? And when Olive finds out what Ethan’s brother is really like, will she be able to just turn a blind eye, or will she tell her sister what is really going on? Can Ethan and Olive weather the storm together, or will they break at the first sign of trouble?

Review will be posted 5/23/19
Olive Torres considers herself unlucky; her twin sister on the other hand is one of the luckiest people she knows. She has won various sweepstakes and even most of her wedding is already paid for through competitions. At this point, Olive just wants her sister's lavish wedding to be over as she has had a ton of things to do for her sister not to mention deal with the groom's brother, Ethan, whom she can't stand in the least thanks to a very awkward encounter a few years ago. But her sister's luck is most definitely over. Most the wedding guests, except Olive and Ethan, get food poisoning from the wedding buffet and the bride and groom are unable to attend their own honeymoon. Her sister can't reschedule either because (you guessed it!) she won the honeymoon and its non-transferable. Her sister insists that she goes instead of her, but the only issue is that Ethan, the groom's brother and her least favorite person, is going as well. Ethan and Olive must pretend to be married on this all-inclusive trip that is in her sister's name. This can't be too bad though, right? I mean a free trip to Maui is worth it. Christina Lauren's The Unhoneymooners has some of the best dialogue I've read in quite sometime. I was rip roaring laughing! I absolutely loved this romantic comedy; it is quintessential beach reading.
Olive is such a fun character in The Unhoneymooners. She's smart, a little awkward, and is extremely witty. I seriously was dying at some of the things that came out of her mouth. Her relationship with Ethan is complicated though. I mean I sort of knew where this was going (obviously), but it was so much fun to go along for the ride. Also, readers slowly figure out why these two don't get a long and what exactly happened in their past. I liked that Lauren slowly revealed it to us. I know that the enemies-to-lovers trope has been done a lot, but boy, did I love it. Christina Lauren made it so, so much fun!
The chemistry in The Unhoneymooners was through the roof. Man, Christina Lauren knows how to write such sizzling chemistry without it being too over the top. I actually haven't enjoyed many books from the romance genre, but she writes my kind of romances. Also, did I mention the setting is Maui? I can't think of a better location for a beach read. I adored Olive and Ethan and the many adventures they encountered whether it was exploring the Hawaiian beaches, snorkeling, couples massages, fancy dinners, or tropical drinks...it was all perfect and my only regret is that I didn't read this book while on vacation.
If you're looking for a light beach read that will have you awkwardly laughing out loud while in public and swooning a few seconds later, look no further. The Unhoneymooners is THE book to throw in your beach bag this summer. I adored it and I can't wait to read more Christina Lauren in my future. Which one of her novels should I read next?

The perfect feel good, enemies to lovers, summer read to pull me right out of my book slump.
I've always been a HUGE fan of the author duo Christina Lauren and this book definitely did not let me down. While this is a little tamer than their other books this one hit all the right spots for me. The romance, humor, characters, and plot were all so on point that I was grinning from ear to ear while reading this.
I also have to add that I was actually really intrigued with the whole "big argument" that every romance couple has towards the 80% mark and absolutely adored how the situation was handled and resolved.
All in all, this is the perfect summer romance to read while sitting by the pool or at the beach and will be sure to leave you with a few good laughs!

Christina Lauren has wrote another romance book, The Unhoneymooners. And they definitely deliver their charm in The Unhoneymooners.
The Unhoneymooners will bring two unlikely people together in the most unusual way. Olive has always been the unlucky sister in her family. Things usually get awry or sideways whenever she is involve. It just becomes of her that she does not take any offense at it all, most of the times. And she is not excited at all when she meets Ethan again when she is at her worst point in her life. I totally feel for her cause things are going sideways lately that you want her to catch a break. Plus, you also don’t want her fell down when Ethan is around.
Ethan is known to be damp in things base on Olive. Ethan is little stiff to my taste. He needs to loosen up a bit especially if he has feelings for Olive. It’s very obvious that he needs but he tends to hide some it. Their trip will bring out Ethan and Olive adventure side but it will also bring up some hidden secrets.
Secrets can never be hidden at all. It will always get expose at all times. And I have a feeling that Ethan is not prepare for it at all. Ethan will have some mix feeling about it but he needs to grow a pair. I really did not like that Ethan did not trust Olive side at all when she was only telling the truth about things. I really did not Ethan at all. Olive need someone better since she is a fun delighted.
The Unhoneymooners is cute romance story beside the frustration of Ethan. 3 1/2 Stars.

I had fun with this romance! I have seen so many glowing reviews for books written by the writing duo of Christina Lauren over the past couple of years. I have really wanted to give their work a try but for one reason or another, this was actually the first time I actually fit one of their books into my reading schedule. I will be honest in that this was not earth-shattering in any way but I thought it was a fun enjoyable read.
Romance with a bit of humor and great banter? Sign me up! This book did have a lot of great elements despite the fact that there really weren't any big surprises in the story. This wasn't the kind of book that had me laughing out loud but I found several sections of the book rather amusing.
Olive and Ami are twins. The book opens on Ami's wedding day. Things go poorly at the wedding leaving everyone ill. Since the bride and groom can't go on the honeymoon, the Olive and Ethan, the groom's brother, go in their place. Oh yeah, Olive and Ethan don't exactly get along so it should prove to be an interesting trip.
I liked Olive and Ethan and thought that they worked well together. I thought that they had some great chemistry and I enjoyed their banter. It was very eye-opening to learn a bit about their history as they dealt with some of the situations they encountered on their trip. I think that this story was really at its best when the focus was completely on Olive and Ethan without mixing in any of the complications they had to contend with.
I thought that there were times where the story got a little unnecessarily complicated. I really would have loved to see these two at the resort without dealing with people from their lives popping up all of the time. I am also not completely sure that I wanted Olive to forgive Ethan at the end of the book. His mistake was a pretty big one and I am not sure that I would have been able to get over it if I were in her shoes. These are really minor things that didn't have a big impact on my enjoyment of the book.
I would recommend this book to others. I found myself wanting to take a trip to Hawaii because of some of the descriptions in this story. I had a great time watching Olive and Ethan fall in love and can't wait to read more from this writing duo in the future!
I received a digital review copy of this book from Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books via NetGalley.
