OK, let us start with the fact that our couple Olive and Ethan pretty much hate the ground the other one walks upon, not a great place to start necessarily but it is a start . Due to the worst wedding history they end up with an already paid for honeymoon trip of a lifetime and here we have our "enemies to lovers" plot which would not excite me but the banter between these two and the slowly dissolving hate was some of the most laugh out loud funny stuff I have read in a very long time and I loved it.
This could have been 5 Stars but it stuttered a bit towards the ending before everything gets back to a good ending although one I did not really expect (which is a good thing) so all things considered this was a 4 Stars story with a lot of 5 Star dialogue so grab a copy an be prepared to be entertained.

A very entertaining love story of many unfortunate twists and turns. Full of fun characters, this novel was a delightful, quick, enjoyable and witty read. I received an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.

Sometimes I read two books, especially if one has heavier content - I need a lighter read to balance it out. This was my “lighter” read - and boy, was it a great one! I read it in less than 24 hours.
I enjoy the hate to love trope if it’s done well, (and if the guy isn’t a giant misogynistic jerk), and this one was done SO WELL. It was cute and funny and believable. Olive and Ethan have such great, witty banter and set against the beautiful backdrop of Maui, this made for a delightful, engaging, fast paced read. The only thing that would have made it even better was if I had been at the beach myself, mai tai in hand.

you have to love the inscrutable hero in the unhoneymooners. poor ethan is much maligned and really doesn't deserve all the bad feelings olive torres has been sending his way. from the get-go it's pretty clear that she's bad at reading body language and social cues, and prone to thinking the worst and making huge assumptions about what people think.
this is the root of her problems. one she learns when she's on an impromptu honeymoon with ethan and realizes that all the things she assumed about him are dead wrong. lest you think olive is some horrible shrew, she's actually not. she's funny and engaging and the kind of heroine you root for. she's got a problem with verbal diarrhea at the most inopportune times. and have i said she's funny.
the chemistry and interplay between her and ethan is fantastic. and how the black moment turns on both her being right about this one thing, but no one believes her because of her propensity to think the worst of everything is pretty brilliantly done. i enjoyed this story, it's kind of a given because it's easy to enjoy a christina lauren story. these authors have a way of creating characters with heart and humor.
**the unhoneymooners will publish on may 14, 2019. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/gallery, threshold, pocket books (gallery books) in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed getting to know this couple during their story. I never got bored with and skipped ahead like I tend to do. The story flowed easily.

I'm in love with Olive & Ethan's story!
Olive stole my heart in this book.

5 🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒popped!

This book had me alternating between giggles and guffaws. This enemies to lovers story is full of mishaps and hilarity throughout except, of course, when it is breaking your heart. But this is a romance so hearts do get mended.
Arising early and not wanting to awaken my spouse, I started reading this book at 6am and did not stop reading until I had finished the book. Luckily it was Sunday and hubby didn't mind bringing me coffee and getting take-out food. There was no way I was going to stop reading until I knew how Olive and Ethen managed the disasters.
I loved this book, it put a smile on my face that refuses to go away. Highly recommended.

Ami and Olive Torres are twins, but they couldn't be more different. Ami is known for her good luck. She wins everything (seriously, everything--her entire wedding is basically free thanks to her winnings) and is known for her charmed life. Olive, on the other hand, has chronic bad luck. Olive is known for getting stuck in a toy claw machine at the age of six (people still google the YouTube video). As of late, her roommate moved out, forcing Olive to find a new, more expensive place, and she lost her job and hasn't found a new one. Now Ami's getting married to Dane, and therefore Olive must face her worst nemesis: Dane's older brother, Ethan, aka the best man. For some reason, Ethan seems to hate Olive, and the feeling is mutual. But then everyone at Ami's wedding gets sick--really sick--after eating the buffet, except for Olive and Ethan. So Ami encourages Olive--and Dane, Ethan--to take the couple's free honeymoon to Maui. The two reluctantly agree, and Olive's luck seems to be turning. She's even offered a new job while waiting at the airport. But at the resort, she and Ethan run into Olive's new boss, forcing them to continue the lie of being a happy newly married couple. But Olive finds she doesn't really mind pretending to be married to Ethan. Maybe this trip won't be so bad after all, right?
"You know what they say about self-fulfilling prophecies, I'm sure. Winning makes you feel like a winner, and then somehow... you keep winning. It has to be true, because Ami wins everything."
This was such an enjoyable romance. For me, I have to take to the couple from the start, and it was so easy to fall for Olive, who is such a sweet and easy protagonist to root for. The witty banter between her and Ethan begins at Ami's wedding and never stops. There's immediate sexual tension and chemistry between these two, and you can't help but want them to get together and totally love this adorable couple. It's even easier to love them when poor Olive feels as if she's been plagued by bad luck her entire life--she's labeled by most as a cynic and pessimist. But I found myself cheering her on, inspired by her bravery and ability to face any situation thrown at her.
"Whereas Ami is a four-leaf-clover, I have always been unlucky."
There are definitely some crazy situations in this book, but it still felt very real and true. There are real heartfelt moments, and Olive and Ami's twin relationship is an anchoring piece of the entire novel. So is their crazy extended family of the twins' (dysfunctional) parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, which provide great comic relief, but also love and tender pieces.
"It wasn't until I was in the fifth grade that I realized not everyone has nineteen first cousins."
This is a delicious, sexy romance and also a lovely coming-of-age story for Olive. I loved both sides of the book. It's downright hilarious in parts, and it's impossible not to love Olive. Even better, Olive and Ethan are a great, memorable couple. The ending is also amazing, and I found myself literally cheering at parts of it. This would make a great movie, truly. Honestly, there was really nothing I didn't love about this one. Highly recommend. 4.5+ stars.

The Unhoneymooners was the third book that I’ve read by Christina Lauren and wow, this duo is just amazing. I loved it so much, that I ended up immediately reading two of their other books back to back! Let’s just say that I have some serious Christina Lauren love going on and will read ANYTHING they write. I think they are the only duo that makes me laugh so much that I almost cry, which is seriously a good thing because laughter is good for the soul, right?
Although it’s so hard to pick a fave because all their books are just so fantabulous, this has to be right up there as one of my favorite Lauren books since I absolutely loved the real chemistry between Ethan and Olive, and I especially adored Olive as an MC.
Olive is an intelligent and sometimes cynical heroine, and I embraced her make no apologies attitude about being a curvy girl since I’m also a curvy girl too and proud of it. I think it’s refreshing to have a female character who isn’t a size 0 or size 2, who is proud of her curvy body, flaunts its voluptuousness, and won’t let anyone fat shame her—go, Olive!
Olive has always had the worst luck in the world but that all changes when she is one of the only people besides Ethan not to get severe food poisoning at the wedding reception of her twin sister Ami and Ethan’s brother Dane. The bride and groom’s bad luck means that Olive and Ethan get a free, luxury vacation in Hawaii but they also have to pretend to be newlyweds which is easier than they first thought it would be since they each thought the other hated each other!
The two of them made me crack up. Their initial contact is often snarky and filled with arguments but as they get to know each other over couples massages and drinks, their conversation becomes deeper. The story becomes a charming, witty rom-com although it’s ultimately a deeper story than that, which is why I loved it as much as I did.
The Unhoneymooners pulls your emotions in every direction. I laughed and cried while reading this book…my heart! It’s wonderfully witty, smart, sexy, and so much fun to read. Please put this on your TBR and read it as soon as you can because you will not regret it. Highly recommended if you love rom-coms, fun reads, or are looking for something fun, quick, and different—and if you haven’t read Christina Lauren yet, then what are you waiting for?
**Thank you, NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC. All opinions are my own.**

Anyone ever just laugh so hard while reading a book, that the person next to you must ask, “are you okay?” That’s exactly what happened to me while reading The Unhoneymooners. This book had me completely laughing out loud throughout the entire book.
I connected with Olive so dang much, it’s not even funny. While I was reading, I kept saying to myself, “did they base this character off of me?” Yes, that is a lame attempt at a joke because Christina Lauren does not know me, anyway, I really enjoyed Olive and her witty personality. Ethan was just as witty, but I really connected with Olive.
The storyline was great, it had it all, comedy, love, and a little bit of drama to sprinkle in and give it that completeness. I enjoyed this book so much and was able to turn off my kindle when I was finished with a smile on my face, all because I was very satisfied.

I was laughing during chapter 1 and the laughter didn’t stop there! This writing duo has the gift for making you laugh while reading, which I absolutely love. The banter between Olive and Ethan was amazing! The enemies to lovers trope is strong in this one! I loved watching Olive grow during the story while finding her place in the world. She has to choose between love and her sister which added more depth to the story. Although Ethan seems to be stuck up at first you can’t help but fall in love with him in the end. I loved this one! This is a great summer read.

It’s well-written, funny in parts. Dialogue is snappy. Heroine is great. Hero not as great but realistic, I guess. Heroine's twin sister is okay. Hero's brother is a douche. I loved the Hawaii scenes.
For some reason, the Latin flavor is not showing up for me. The writing duo did well with Josh and his Korean heritage in a previous book, but the distinctive Mexican vibe is lacking here in Olive and Ami and their family.
I finished it in three hours, so obviously, it's an easy read. Christina and Lauren have proven themselves to be talented writers. There’s just something missing in The Unhoneymooners for me.
It could be that I've been reading #ownvoices books before this. The Bride Test, Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors, and The Key to Happily Ever After all have authenticity written all over them and the rich cultural heritage of the authors are manifested in their books. It might just have been the wrong time for me to read the book because I love this duo and will continue to read their books.

Enemies to lovers ✔️
Forced cohabitation ✔️
Ridiculous TV movie-worthy coincidences ✔️
The Unhoneymooners is totally my catnip. But I just couldn’t love it. Something about it bugged me.
There’s a disconnect between how Olive sees herself and how others see her that’s never really addressed: She’s very observant and she’s not usually wrong. (Except maybe about Ethan.) But that isn’t something her family and friends seem to know about her. They don’t believe her the one time she tries to tell them what she sees. It breaks my heart that they don’t value that quality in her and all the charm of the rest of the story isn’t quite enough to make up for it.
The fact that most of this happens toward the end of book only makes it worse. Even Ethan didn't really do enough to redeem himself after that. The rest of Olive's family certainly didn't. So when they get their Happy Ever After, I was much more frustrated than happy. I expect to have warm fuzzy feelings at the end of a Christina Lauren book so The Unhoneymooners was a bit disappointing.

Every time I pick up a CL book I know it will be a great read. I have come to love the complexity of the story, all the while having levity and well-written comedy mixed in. Olive Torres is the unlucky twin - her life seems almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion - she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. For Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.
Christina Lauren books are always fun. I know, even if at times the characters grate on my nerves, by the end it will be a wonderful ride.

Christine Lauren have done it agin....a Rom com with unexpected twists, lots of laugh out loud lines, and a sweet romance. Their books are always a joy to read, and this was no exception. With a good rom com, you sometimes have to suspend belief in the plot, and this book started out that way for me. Who has a wedding, where at the reception everyone gets sick except Olive and Ethan. Olive is a twin, whose sister’s wedding it is. Ethan is the brother of the groom, and after the bride and groom get very sick, they insist that Olive and Ethan take their place for their honeymoon. One problem, Olive and Ethan don’t get along. Great premise for shenanigans to prevail. Fun story and one i highly recommend.

Olive has spent her whole life being the “unlucky” twin. Nothing seems to go her way and if it wasn’t for bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all. Olive and Ethan are forced to spend their siblings honeymoon together or it will go to waste. Even though this isn’t ideal they are both too petty to let the other one take the trip alone. Loves it!
The banter between Ethan and Olive had me cracking up the first half of the book. These two were a mess and I couldn’t get enough. As expected walls come down and they start to get along. I really liked the build up and gradual transition from enemies to friends to like. It wasn’t forced and it felt very natural.
Towards the end of the book we had some drama that made my heart hurt. I just wanted to reach in and wrap my arms around Olive. I do have to say I love the transformation Olive made in this book. It was nice to see her find her footing and gain more confidence as the story progressed.
So it’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of Christina Lauren books. I started reading them last year and I haven’t looked back since. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and it did not disappoint. Once I started reading this book I was instantly sucked in with the writing. The story had me laughing out loud several times. I loved the big, meddling family. Needless to say I pretty much enjoyed everything about this book and I highly recommend this story.

This book is a hilarious romantic comedy that will have you laughing out loud! I honestly couldn’t put this book down. I loved the romance, the hilarity and the loyalty to family. The writing was witty and very well done, the plotting and pacing is great and I would totally recommend this book! If you like romantic comedies it should definitely be on your summer TBR! There are a few steamy scenes but nothing is overtly graphic.

I’ve only read one other book by the writing duo Christina Lauren and I loved it, so going in I had high expectations. The fact that I got this ARC as I was sitting on a beach in Hawaii seemed like fate and it was a bit surreal reading a book set in Hawaii, while in Hawaii albeit on a different island. I enjoyed this book immensely and while it was quite different from my last Christina Lauren experience (Roomies), it was engaging, entertaining, and had plenty of substance without a lot of angst and for me that is always a good thing.
Olive is a twin, her perfect twin sister Ami is getting married to a guy who is likeable enough but in Olive’s eyes is a bit of a frat boy even as he approaches 30. She loves her sister despite how different they are and will do anything to make sure her wedding day goes smoothly including checking in with the best man, Ethan, the groom’s brother whom Olive doesn’t like after years of feeling his disdain over her curvaceous figure. (Before I get any further let me say that the reason I took off a half a star is I’m tired of twin books where one feels less than the other to the point it has affected her entire outlook on life.) That being said, Olive and her nemesis Ethan end up taking Ami and Dane’s honeymoon trip but because Ami won the trip, Olive has to pretend to be Ami and she and Ethan have to pretend to be married, and all kinds of craziness ensues.
4.5 stars
At the beginning of this book I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy it because both the main characters were a bit off putting. Olive was negative, grumpy, and always down on herself and Ethan had this air of superiority that drove me crazy, but once they got to Maui we really began to see the real Olive and Ethan. I loved their banter and the fact that despite their differences, they were there for one another when Olive ran into her new boss and Ethan ran into his ex-girlfriend. While it seemed a bit crazy for them to each run into people they know, that has happened to me and my husband on several trips so it didn’t surprise me. I liked that they had one another’s back and that it gave them the chance to talk and really begin to know one another. It was easy to see the friendship forming between them, the attraction they had for one another, and that “us against the world” mentality setting in. What was a bit difficult was when Ethan exposed some information about his brother took Olive aback and left her at odds about how to handle it. There was no doubt they were both fiercely loyal to their sibling, if not a bit clueless, and their loyalty was going to be tested.
What really struck home with me is how perfectly they captured how easy it is to get caught up in the island mystique and how that comes crashing down when you return home and “real” life intrudes (you’ll I’m not lying this really happens). For Olive it come epically crashing down on both a professional and personal level, but with the help of her large, overbearing, and endearing family she picks herself up, dusts herself off, and becomes determined to not lose the better version of herself she’d become. I really admired her for gaining perspective and working on seeing things from different angles something she lacked prior to her time spent in Maui. I also won’t deny I was a bit disappointed with Ethan but will say he worked hard to make things right. I loved these were imperfect people who worked to be better, to get things right, and who had the ability to grow, change, and forgive.
For me a really good romance is one that makes me feel good, makes me laugh, makes me want to read it again (I’ve read this one 3 times already), and has characters that evolve throughout the story and The Unhoneymooners did that and so much more.

Christina Lauren's books always take me by storm--I have trouble doing anything else until I'm done reading one of their books. Their characters are so true to life that, inevitably, I end up feeling so much empathy for the character who reminds me so much of myself. This book was no different.
Olive is a pessimist, and who can blame her? The psychology of her character and the horrible situation she finds herself in would make anyone blue. But Christina Lauren knows how to put a character in a horrible situation--a fact of life--and then help the character come through better, stronger, and wiser.
I loved this book as I have loved all the previous books this duo has written, and I can't wait to see what they will write next..

So first off, this was the first book I have read by these authors and it will most certainly NOT be the last!
I absolutely loved this one. I love the enemies into lovers trope and this one did not disappoint. I loved the character of Ami and I could relate to her cynicism and wariness. I loved the chemistry between her and Ethan and thought they had incredible banter and dialogue. There were plenty of times where their arguing would make me laugh. I loved how they found any chance to fight with each other and I thought the authors did a great job with the development of their relationship. I also loved the evolution of Ami's character and her realization regarding the luck surrounding her. My only issue with this one was that I could have used some chapters from Ethan's POV just to get an idea of what he was thinking throughout the story. Great read!
