I am a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers story, and this one definitely didn't disappoint! From the very beginning through the last word of the epilogue, this book was entertaining and endearing. Although all of the secondary characters played an important role, the development of the relationship between Olive and Ethan was fulfilling on its own. The banter they shared from the start when they didn't like each other was amusing, so I was happy to see that it continued jokingly even as they fell in love. They were funny, honest, and sweet which made me want to follow their journey.

The conflicts in this story were believable and are easy for readers to relate to. Even so, they were original ideas and not a repeat of many others I have previously read. Everything was not always happy, and characters did fight, which made it very realistic and made me want to see how everything would be resolved. With the resolutions, I was pleased to see that the characters stayed true to who they had been throughout the book, and even the HEA was unique.

I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed it, but I felt like it was missing some depth. The banter and humor is fun, but there was limited character development and conflict.

Enemies-to-lovers with a “there’s only one bed”-to-the-extreme!

Thanks to Olive’s shellfish allergy and Ethan’s germ phobia, they are the only two guests at her sister and his brother’s wedding reception that don’t contract terrible food poisoning. Which means they are the only two available to go on the honeymoon. So off to Maui these two people who can’t stand each other go. In Hawaii, they are forced to spend more time together than either of them bargained for, but are those sparks flying?!

There is great chemistry between Ethan and Olive. Ethan is equal parts aesthetically beautiful and open about his emotions, and Olive has some great character development. I love their banter and the book allusions. The only thing that makes this different from many romances apis that the narration is told 100% from Olive’s POV; it doesn’t switch back and forth.

Out in May, add this to your summer beach read reads!

What a fun quick read. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. The characters were well developed and easy to spend time with. It wasn’t even completely predictable, which was a great surprise! I did find the epilogue a bit jarring, suddenly switching voices. Though, all in all, a fun read!

Prior to The Unhoneymooners I'd only read one Christina Lauren book (Dating You/Hating You) and I really didn't like it. But when I read the description for The Unhoneymooners (and saw that cover!) I decided to try again. I'm so glad I did, this book was delightful! Olive's twin Ami has gotten married, but Ami - and all of the wedding guests - have fallen ill after a bad seafood buffet. The only people spared are Olive and brother of the groom Ethan. The honeymoon is nonrefundable, so Olive and Ethan go in the newlyweds' place. The only hitch is that Olive and Ethan hate each other. Hijinks ensue. I really liked the dynamic between Olive and Ethan - they're really funny together, and I was giggling aloud at parts. Both Olive and Ethan were great characters; Ethan was very dreamy and a good counterpart to Olive. Olive feels perpetually unlucky, and I liked the subplot with her unemployment, and found her family really lovely. I also thought her attempts to work through her seemingly innate pessimism while still staying true to her feelings were nicely done. This book was just a good time. Recommended.

I am a Christina Lauren convert. I had never read any of her stuff before The Unhoneymooners (even though I’d heard people rave about her and this book in particular) and now, I’m hooked. I have to pick up her back catalog immediately! I’m always wary about romance novels, worried that they’ll be either too sappy or too sexy, but The Unhoneymooners was perfect -- it had a good combination of both sexy and sappy, and I adored the main character Olive, who was witty and smart and confident, which is a quality that I like in a protagonist but is so often missing from women in romance novels. I hesitate to even call this a true “romance” novel because it strikes me as more of a comedy with romance thrown in more than anything else, but putting books into genres has never been my favorite thing.

The novel opens at Olive’s twin sister’s wedding, where disaster strikes, meaning that Olive and her new brother-in-law’s brother, Ethan, are the only people available to take on a free, all-inclusive honeymoon in Maui. There’s only two catches: one) Olive and Ethan are essentially enemies and two) they have to pretend to be a newly married couple. Once they get to the resort, they assume they’ll be scot-free from their make-believe routine, only to run into Olive’s new boss and Ethan’s recently engaged ex-girlfriend. Suddenly, make-believe gets a lot harder.

It was a page-turner, funny novel that made my heart race multiple times. I read it in less than twenty-four hours because I just could not put it down, wild with excitement to see how this fake relationship played out -- I was not disappointed. Not to spoil too much, but I really loved that the “drama” of the novel wasn’t contained to a simple love-triangle sort of plot (which it easily could have been) and instead, turned to family drama and the most basic building blocks of romantic relationships to move the story along. Honestly, I can’t wait to read The Unhoneymooners again -- I can easily see this being a book I turn to when I need to get out of a reading slump! I'll definitely be buying a physical copy in May!

This book was pretty adorable. I love a enemies to lovers romance and this one was really darn cute. Olive and Ethan are in each others orbit because both their siblings are marrying each other. Olive is a twin, but quite opposite, very opposite of each other. Some chaos ensues at the wedding reception, and the only people who aren't sick are Ethan and Olive. So, they take the couples place on their honeymoon.

I love how while they disliked each other, they really had this undeniable chemistry. It really was a good story. I enjoyed Olive's family dynamics, the love they have for each other and protectiveness nature when it comes to any one of them. I really enjoyed their story.

Christina Lauren is the queen of rom-com. If you want humor, sass, and millennial romance, look no further than her. Unhoneymooners will have readers rolling around on the floor laughing. Dare I say ROFLMAO. The romance aspect is the right about of sweet that way make you swoon. Buy it, read it, and read it again.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-ARC!

A funny take on the "I hate you...I love you" trope. All the mishaps the couple runs into on their fake honeymoon left me laughing. Christina Lauren is one of my new favorite authors!

What a funny love story! It was a quick read, but an engaging story. Loved the banter between Olive and Ethan. I’ve definitely become a fan of Christina Lauren. Highly recommend this book.

I'm going to write a full review for this book for Goodreads and my blog when I have more time but I wanted to say thank you to the ARC gods for this one. I am pretty sure I am now a Christina Lauren STAN, these ladies never disappoint. They are hilarious and witty writers and I totally think they should write for primetime television.

I love the plot: it had the right amount of everything: humor, character development, kissy face (not too much but just enough). I think anyone who loves a good ROMCOM should pick this one up.

OH MAN! This book had me swooning and feeling ALL THE FEELS! I had a permagrin on my face and I know I must have looked ridiculous but I couldn't help it. Christina Lauren captivated me and I was sucked into Olive's and Ethan's worlds. These two DID NOT like each other and it was obvious. And they obviously loved their siblings or they wouldn't have been civil around each other. But while it was the newly married couple's misfortune, it became a great thing for Ethan and Olive. Who wouldn't love to be forced to go on a trip?! The fact that Olive couldn't lie, cracked me up! While she doesn't have to, too often, her mouth runs away from her. As they started becoming comfortable around each other, walls started to come down and truths were revealed. I ADORED their banter and their budding friendship. I wanted it to be so much more for them. I couldn't read this book fast enough and I can't sing its praises enough! Please do yourselves a favor and grab this book when it comes out May 14!

This one is my favorite Christina Lauren book yet! What do you do when a series of unfortunate events means that you are going on your twin sister's romantic honeymoon with the groom's detestable brother? You make the best of it and when the pretending becomes real, you go with it! The hate to love trope is one of my favorites and this one is very well done. There is so much chemistry between Olive and Ethan and their snarkiness is perfect. I appreciated how the book did not end with the fairytale honeymoon and the reader gets to see the characters and confront reality. I look forward to shoving this in everyone's hands once it is published!

It's been awhile since I've read a Christina Lauren book, and this was a good one to dive back in with them. I've missed the joy that comes with a good romcom! Oh the crazy banter, the awesome one- liners, the so many things highlighted, the out loud laughter. Not to mention the tugging on my heart, because as funny and fun this was, Olive and Ethan made me fall for them. Olive and her twin feel like two sides of a coin, lucky and unlucky. Both stepping into the roles their large crazy families put them in early on. Ethan is Olive's sister's new brother in law, and due to a horrific and hillarious wedding disaster, these two get a free vaca. Oh man the back and forth with Ethan and Olive is amazing. The realness and openness, along with a heavy dose of sarcasm and always calling one another the wrong names, was just perfect. This story was perfect.

Actual rating 4.5/5

This was my third Christina Lauren book and it was hands down my favorite. These two authors have really outdone themselves with this book. It is absolutely hilarious, I had a smile plastered on my face the entire time, the writing is smart and insightful, and I could not put the book down for two days straight. Both Olive and Ethan completely captured my heart, and I did not want to let them go.

Here are a few of my highlights:

Christina & Lauren do such an amazing job with their characters. Both Olive and Ethan are fully fleshed out characters with their own dreams, struggles, personality quirks, sense of humor, family issues, and personal issues that they are each trying to work through individually. Many romantic comedy novels do not always give a complete picture of who these individuals are apart from the relationship, but that is never the case with Christina Lauren, and definitely not the case in The Unhoneymooners. Olive is adorable, awkward, and a little salty at times, which is something that I really related to, but she is also so caring, thoughtful, and loyal. Ethan is really insightful and honest in a way that felt true to his character. It was so much fun watching them fall in love and overcome their “pride and prejudice” moment of misunderstanding.

The Banter – because this is an “enemies-to-lovers” story, there is seriously epic banter between Olive and Ethan. These two are so funny and smart that I was laughing the entire time. I can only imagine the fun that these authors had when they were co-writing this book.

The theme of luck/fate vs. choice- Olive struggles with the idea of luck at the start of the novel and the authors do such a great job of weaving this theme throughout everything that she experiences with her family, with Ethan, and with her job. Olive’s changing perception of luck vs. choices made this more than just a romance novel for me. It is also a journey of self-realization and understanding.

Realistic nature of family/relationships: Both Ethan and Olive are fiercely devoted to their siblings which is a quality that is really admirable in both of them. However, when these sibling relationships start to come between them, their loyalty to each other is tested. I thought that this portion of the plot was really realistically portrayed. Ethan and Olive have found something special, but it is often difficult to reconcile new love with family responsibility and expectation. None of these issues felt forced or exaggerated. It just felt very natural and honest, and something that we can all relate to.

If you enjoy a good rom-com in between some more “serious” reads, I can’t recommend this book enough. It is funny, heartwarming, honest, sexy, and just an overall fun escape. The Unhoneymooners comes out May 14th (just in time for summer vacation)!

Thank you so much Gallery Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read this early edition. I absolutely loved it!!

4.5 starss! I was given this arc in return for a review from gallery books, and I have 3 words: so freaking amazing! Christina Lauren honestly NEVER disappoints. This story truly was everything I needed when it comes to a funny relatable rom-com. Like I audibly laughed so many times while reading this. This is a classic enemies to lovers trope, and those always butter my biscuit if you know what I mean. The plot was so fun, and the story truly kept me entertained the whole time while reading.

Olive was honestly such a relatable main character! I actually lost count of the amount of times I said, “same.” whenever she spoke. She’s absolutely terrible at lying, a stress baker (and eater which again...same), and actually thinks she’s the most unlucky person to ever live. She’s literally just the actual definition of relatable. I also loved the fact that she was hispanic and more on the curvy side. Another aspect to her that I truly love is the fact that she has the ability to see through pretty much everyone’s bullshit even when all of the people around her didn’t.

Ethan was absolutely charming and funny, but in a cool, calm, and collected kind of way. Ugh I was in love with him the moment he was introduced in the story to be honest. His character was extremely well developed, and he’s definitely the type of guy where he always wants to dig a little deeper than just the basic surface level in a relationship, which in my opinion, is a panty dropper right there.

One of the only things I honestly missed in this book was the iconic smutty scenes Christina Lauren usually tends to deliver. Don’t get me wrong, there were some sexy scenes, but definitely don’t go into this expecting a full on smutty experience. Another thing that affected me was the conflict during the last 100 pages or so. I’ve never been so stressed and angry in my entire life, whew. It kind of felt a bit rushed and I wished it had been evenly distributed throughout the whole story a bit more, but thankfully it was nothing too extreme enough to completely derive me from the story as a whole.

Christina Lauren has come through with so many amazing stories, and i’m just ready for them to bring us all some more!

Another one bites the dust. I wanted to love this one so much, especially after my dislike of My Half Night Stand. Everything was set up to make me think that this was going to be a new favorite for me. That cover, enemies to lovers, and a destination romance.

Where the majority of this fell flat for me was the romance. I just honestly didn’t feel any chemistry between these two. And that sucks so badly. I was waiting for all the angst of hating/loving someone vibes and ended up empty handed. You could have told me that this was a book about two people who misread each other on their first meeting and became friends and I would’ve believed you. Now that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy their friendship! I really enjoyed when they got to know each other and realize that they had more in common than they thought.

Jumping to another topic really quickly, I was surprised by the fade to black scenes here. I’m so used to their sexy time scenes that I wasn’t really sure how I felt about it fading to black. Honestly, we all know I’m perv so I’m lowkey disappointed by it lol!

What really took this from a 3 star rating down to 2 stars was "the conflict" towards the end. There is some drama that goes on that really raised my eyebrows. I can’t go into too much without saying spoilers but I really expected better from some of these characters.

All in all, I just expected more from this book. Especially, romance and character wise.

**Will post to blog closer to release day.

I loved this one! Squarely within the authors' wheelhouse, showing their strengths. Even with all the maneuvering that it took to get the two main characters into the central situation, it felt believable and charming.

Ethan and Olive's hate relationship was quite entertaining, I enjoyed their banter, but what I enjoyed the most was when they made it official. Also the subtle look or words that Ethan leave behind. It makes me giddy.

I'm happy to say that I don't find any cheesiness in this story at all. Like really. I always makes an eye roll whenever I read something that is too sweet to the point of being cheesy. Here, Ethan was just sweet. BUT I'm not saying that his character is perfect because I actually hated him at one point. Disappointed even.

The first part was okay however, I got hooked after reaching the second half because this was not just a typical rom-com. It actually elicit some emotions from me, which is a plus.

It also has some drama which is appropriate in my opinion and it was resolved, although I didn't get the bigger picture as to why.... Guess it's because this was written in single POV which is Olive's except for the epilogue. I really enjoyed a story more when it was written in dual POV.

My first read from this writing duo and I liked it so it definitely won't be my last.

Perfect beach/summer reads.

Another great book from Christina Lauren. When the wedding party gets food poisoning, the Maid of Honor and Best Man go on the honeymoon instead of the bride and groom. To bad they can't get along. Through unexpected meetings with future bosses and exes, these two grow closer and begin to see that they didn't really hate each other in the first place. I really liked the characters in this book and the plot was fun to read. Though I think it lacked the sparkle that can be found in her other books, The Unhoneymooners was a fantastic read that I finished in one night.
