When a freebie queen tries to comp her wedding, she wins sub-par food and all the wedding guests get food poisoning, with the exclusion of the bride's twin sister and the groom's brother, who hate each other. Since they are too sick to make their honeymoon, a complimentary trip to Hawaii, they give the trip to the sister and brother who end up going and... falling in love? starting a relationship?Whatever happens, they get to know each other better and start putting aside their differences, only to return to real life and get wrapped up in the drama between the newlyweds, forcing them to take sides and strain their own relationship.
On one level, this is a fun and enjoyable read. However, the narrative is littered with body conscious references which might be a trigger for readers with body positivity issues. The main character was a curvy Latina who kept defending her appearance and her love interest seemed to refer to her body constantly, in both positive and negative ways.
However, I enjoyed the morality that the authors tried to include in the story where the characters tried to come clean after they had done wrong, even when it was to their disadvantage. I am usually more satisfied when a story isn't resolved in a neat and tidy bow and this definitely felt more like real life than just a fairy tale ending.
I would definitely read more from this author.

Easy, enjoyable, but not my favorite from the authors. The characters seemed to get into so much trouble just because they didn't talk to one another and assumed so many things, ie Ethan hating Olive. It was a pretty quick switch once they got together which felt weird to me. The ending was fine and it definitely had its cute moments.

I loved this book so much!!! 😍😍😍 I read this book in one sitting, and it was incredible! The perfect combination of funny, sweet, sexy, and swoony!

Yes! This is what I was looking for!! Even though Twice in a Blue Moon wasn’t my favorite, The Unhoneymooners worked for me. Enemies to lovers is becoming my jam.
Funny, swoon worthy and just a fun entertaining read.
Steam level is very low, behind closed doors, but still enjoyed. 4 ⭐️

I devoured this book y’all! I finished it in two sittings! I thought it was super fun. Much like Olive, I sometimes feel like I have a black cloud following me, so I could really relate to her character. When so many bad things happen, if something good happens, I’m usually just waiting for the ball to drop. 🤷🏼♀️
I enjoyed the bickering and sarcastic banter between Olive and Ethan. It reminded me of how me and my boyfriend interact. Also, I took away a really important lesson from this book. Things aren’t always what they seem on the surface. To assume makes an ass out of u and me! 🤣
The ending was exactly what I predicted it to be, but I was perfectly fine with that. This was just a funny, lighthearted story. I laughed throughout the whole book. Overall, I really enjoyed the writing, the characters, and the amazing setting and cover art which just so happened to tee me right up for my own vacation in paradise! 🏖

This book was laugh out loud funny and I loved every single second of it. I'm a big fan of the author duo, Christina Lauren and this book did not disappoint. I'm a sucker for a hate to love romance and this one was just pure perfection. This is definitely a book that I will be rereading in the future!

Classic Christina Lauren - whipped through it and loved it. Adorable characters - perfect for a vacation!

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren started with an interesting premise. I had great hopes for this book and the found the beginning to be well written with strong dialogue. Unfortunately, the story was hard to keep reading shortly after that. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Overall, a really enjoyable book. I feel like the drama was equally dragged out, but also not fleshed out enough. The fight that Ethan and Olive had a lot more nuance than just hating each other, and I think more than an apology was necessary.

Even when things go horribly wrong there has to be a silver lining somewhere. For Olive who has always seemed to be the unluckier sister compared to her twin, her silver lining is that she did not succumb to food poisoning at the reception like the rest of her sister's bridal party and guests did. Thanks to the chaos Ami can't go on her honeymoon and rather than see it go wasted, she insists that Olive go to Hawaii and have a good time. Buutttt ... she has to go with Ethan, the groom's best man and all around pain in Olive's backside. The two have never gotten along so it's ludicrous to think that they'd b able to do so even if they're going to paradise. She promises Ami that she'll go anyway and that's where the adventure begins.
The Unhoneymooners is a typical enemies-to-lovers story that's fueled by misconceptions and assumptions about the other person. Ethan's not a huge stretch from a lot of guys in these rom-coms who start off aloof and maybe a little too condescending while Olive's the perky, outgoing sort. Yeah, their personalities clash and they try to keep away from each other. As luck would have it things don't go their way. Olive encounters someone with whom she interviewed for a job, and Ethan sees his ex there with her new man. I mean, seriously, of all the resorts in Hawaii and they're all there? The same week? Through a series of misunderstandings, Olive inadvertently leads her potential employer to think that she's engaged. To Ethan. Ethan in turn wants to show his ex he's moved on so why not go with the incorrect assumption and convince everyone that they're together. It's actually quite comical because they're still at the can't-stand-to-look-at-you phase. The pretense though can get boring but thankfully not here as they begin to tolerate each other. What I wasn't expecting was for things to loop back to her sister which I thought supercharges the remainder of the story. It's kind of sweet, actually, since the sisters always had something in the way of their relationship and here they get the chance to support each other.
The Unhoneymooners doesn't reinvent the wheel but it is entertaining and I had a darn good time reading it. Good banter makes me happy and the snarky back-and-forth between Olive and Ethan were my jam. Any good rom-com should make you laugh and fall in love along with the characters and The Unhoneymooners does just that.

An amazingly fun romance. The couple's build and tension is a blast to read, and the family drama is perfectly woven in. I love the characters, the dialogue, and the Hawaiian vacation. I can't wait to read the rest of this pair's books!

This was absolutely adorable and excellent until the last 80%. Watching everyone disbelieve Olive was very upsetting to read, and I found her quick forgiveness of Ethan NOT satisfactory at all. The casual and apologize-and-done way sexual harassment was treated in this book was just not okay with me.
TW: Gaslighting language re: sexual harassment

The writing duo of Christina Lauren consistently deliver the exact book I want from them. There is always heart, humor, and sexiness. What more can I say? Their writing always pulls me in and I love getting lost in the lives of their characters.

The Unhoneymooners was the perfect book to read on a cold winter’s day. Not only did it let me escape to Hawaii, but it also kept me completely entertained with a good amount of humor. Christina Lauren (a writing duo of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings) have been writing best-sellers in both YA and Women’s Fiction since 2013. I didn’t read my first one until 2017, an ARC of Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, and I was hooked.
An ultimate wedding nightmare of food poisoning brings an entire wedding down, with the exception of the maid of honor and the best man. They have never liked one another, and had been spared the food poisoning. A non-refundable and non-changeable honeymoon was about to be forfeited and was forced upon the two. Olive and Ethan decide to enjoy the trip and do so individually until circumstance changes everything.
With mishaps, drunken heat, pretense and a dose of fun, Olive and Ethan learn quite about their exes, their misread clues and each other. Not all is as it seems though, the storyline comes with twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Take this book on vacation or carve out time in your favorite reading chair…it’s a delight.

This was really good! Definitely one of my favorite Christina Lauren books. I love a good enemies-to-lovers book and this one delivered. It was dramatic without being over the top, the characters had pretty good chemistry, and I just generally really enjoyed being immersed in the story.

Another great book!!! I love anything Christina Lauren writes! She never disappoints me. Her storytelling astounds me!! Can't wait for her next book!!

Hands down my favorite CL book! BOOOOOMMM they killed it! I always enjoy a cute entertaining CL book but I honestly didn't want this one to end. Something about it was so damn addictive! I think the whole I hate you, wait maybe I don't ...wait maybe I want you...vibe was so entertaining and fun I just couldn't get enough of it. I loved all the snarky banter going on between Olive and Ethan.
An all expense paid trip to Maui...OMG yes please! Olive finds herself accepting this offer from her twin sister Ami who wont be able to make her own honeymoon due to her entire wedding party - except Olive falling ill to a nasty food borne illness. The catch? Olive has to go with Ami's new brother in law Ethan ( whom she hates). She hates everything about Ethan and he hates everything about Olive. Sooo this should be fun. Even more fun is the fact they have to pretend to be married! You can guess how that turned out!
This book had so many funny scenarios it had me laughing and smiling the whole book. What an adorable book this was. I am wondering what took me so long to getting around to read this... I would love, love, love to see this made into a movie! This is my fourth CL book and I am planning to read all the rest, so far this is my absolute favorite!
Thank you so much to Gallery Books for this ARC. Thank you Christina Lauren for making me laugh!!!!!

As a long time fan of Christina Lauren writing duet, I was excited to get to this book. My thoughts on this book, after reading their other works? It was awesome! There were laughs through out and it was definitely page turning!
I loved Ethan and Olive’s characters. They really made the book pop. They were enemies, but, taking on a honeymoon just might be what they needed to get them on the same page. Watching the banter between them, seeing them interact on the “unhoneymoon” was fun and refreshing and had me falling in love with them! I found myself cheering for them to overcome their enemy status.
Christina Lauren has once again created a 4 star novel that will grip you from start to finish. Where you land? Well, you just don’t know until you grab this page turner for yourself! Get lost among a great group of characters and enjoy the ride. You won’t be sorry!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Publisher, NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

This book was so cute that I had to do a reread of this one by listening to the audio and I was so happy I did. It was funny, cute, and I felt those times of embarrassment as if it was me during some of those scenes. I could relate to the characters and just had a fun time with this one. Definitely worth reading if this is your type of genre. Huge of the authors.

Thank you for the advanced copy of this book. My reviews can be read on my GoodReads account here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1335387-kelly
