I thoroughly enjoyed this book, right until the very end. I must say, if there is no sequel I will be very disappointed! I'm not even a podcast fan, which is what the story centers around, but you really don't need to be. The main character, Olivia, is asked to allow a pair of true crime podcast hosts to do a season of the show determining if there was a miscarriage of justice when her brother was convicted of murder 10 years ago. As the victim was the son of the town's mayor, you just know that there is plenty to dig up and plenty of people who want to leave it buried.

It's a good story with well developed characters, but it does feel like it's been done before. The small town, the corruption of the police, the influence of the mayor, high school kids who aren't the perfect small town heroes they are made out to be, etc. Of course no one that still lives there wants the podcast to happen and the hosts are denied at almost every turn. You get the sense early on that her brother, Ethan, really is innocent, as you try and piece together what really happened. I liked how the story was told in the then & now format, with the 'then' part moving backwards in time, which is a nice change of pace. You'll fins yourself turning page after page just dying to get to the night of the murder.

You might have it figured out as I did, as the author is good with foreshadowing, but there may have been a bit too much, leaving few readers surprised. I think there was a great deal that could still be told which is why I want a sequel; otherwise, it's one of those 'it's up to your imagination how things would have played out' situations. I need the resolution! I would still recommend this book, as this author is great at keeping you drawn in even when you know where you will be taken.

A thrilling read. Ethan and Olivia Hall, identical twins were just 18 years old when Ethan was arrested for the murder of Tyler Washington. Olivia tries everything to get her brother cleared. It is only when a true crime podcast is set up 10 years later that many things come to light. Gripping, enjoyable read with a shock ending.

There have been a fair few books lately that have a podcast as the central premise, I tend to very much enjoy these if they are done well, as this one is,especially as I’ve recently developed an obsession with listening to them myself.

The Killer You Know focuses on Olivia, whose twin brother is in jail for murder. Years later she manages to persuade a popular and successful podcast to take a look at the case – through both past and present we explore events leading up to and after the murder.

This is a cleverly woven and immersive mystery with some intriguingly built and believable characters. A small town, hidden secrets, divisive friendships and politically motivated cover ups are all in the mix and the group dynamic of a group of friends who have lost one of their own as teenagers is really addictive. Seeing them then and now, the author manages to instill a lot of emotional layers into the tale and it is a great page turner with one of THOSE endings…

It didn’t matter to me at all that I pegged the true guilty party very early, if anything it made it a far more interesting read, I was reading to find out if they’d get away with it which I found far more intriguing- however this is quality plotting so one way or another, whether you read to find out whodunnit or you read to see where it ends up you are going to be up all night…

The Killer You Know is a entertaining yet predictable thriller. A good story with good characters. I would read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of the tv show Proven Innocent in some ways. It was a thrilling and suspenseful read that I finished in a few hours. Some of it dragged in spots and became repetitive but it didn’t take away from the plot. I would recommend this book. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.

A really gripping, quick read. I suspected from quite early on what the truth would turn out to be, but that didn't stop me enjoying the twists and turns getting there. My only complaint is that the end felt abrupt and somewhat unresolved; there was clearly more story to unfold, and i would have preferred a less ambiguous conclusion. (I think the very end was implying that someone had told someone else a particular thing, but it was too subtle to be sure.) Still, definitely worth reading.

An okay story. A little predictable in places but a good story all the same. I think if you don’t read too many thrillers you will enjoy this x

Very simply written style. Didn't like the plot. I felt it was way too predictable and I didn't care for the characters at all.
