I had the privilege of reading this courtesy of Netgalley -- and, frankly, I'm not quite sure what I expected. I thought that this would be a bit more practical but instead it's very New Age and "woo woo." I'd say that about 75% of the book is anecdotes about people's miraculous recoveries from various ailments as a result of the "Emotion Code." The author repeatedly stresses his belief in "God" and emphasizes a number of odd claims - including the "quantum entanglement" as a cause of physical ailments from emotional responses, and the belief that emotions originate from specific organs or parts of the body.
The practical part of the book -- the methodology -- would be things like the "sway test" as a way of priming your body to recognize your subconscious communication to you by gently leaning toward the front or back when you speak true or false statements. Then there are other "tests" such as linking your fingers together or pressing someone's arm.
I encountered this kind of New Age treatment with an acupuncturist about 20 years ago -- she would wave vials of certain things near my arm and ask me to resist her pressing on my arm but I am convinced that she would push harder or lighter based on what she wanted to prove and then claim that my body was "stronger" or "weaker" when certain things were brought in my proximity.
This book is completely cut from the same cloth. There's even a section on magnets. Pass.
This is a holistic approach to inner healing that helps you get rid of the trapped emotions inside wrecking havoc on your body.
Let Go of Old Emotion that Harms You
What a surprising book! Even though I have had formal training as an RN, I am certainly open to new and interesting approaches to healing the body, mind, and spirit. This book offers a very different but simple method to heal emotions that manifest as dis-ease in the body and mind. The author states that emotions can become trapped, especially in overwhelming situations. When these emotions get trapped, they can attract more negativity that hums at the same low vibration, leading to blockages (sometimes in the form of self-limiting beliefs), stress, and ultimately true physical or mental disease. The author offers a simple method to discover these trapped emotions and dealing with them very quickly through the use of muscle testing and magnets. He provides case studies—and other insights into the process from his work with many people—that border on the miraculous. This is a fascinating read, and I will try the method to see if it works for me. No harm in trying something that cannot harm you and could be beneficial. If you feel you have blockages that keep you from where you want to be in life or are suffering from physical disease or mental difficulties, I suggest you try the method as it might be helpful.
I had difficulty getting into this book although i wanted to believe the principles surrounding it. I cannot quite put my finger on when i lost interest in this books delivery. Hoping in the future i can see it from a different perspective or see the use in some what is contained herein.
Honest and in-depth advice for reaching your full potential. This advice is presented in easy to follow language that can be broken up and applied in pieces at a time.
The Emotion Code is a wonderful and helpful resource. The author shares about the cause and effect of choosing temporal relief by ignoring our emotions, or burying them.
It is not a new concept that negative emotions can lead to negative outcomes, that can show up in many forms. Stress is the most common one, but this book will help you identify other possible traumas.
Of course it doesn't end there. After identifying the problems with this habit, the author proceeds to provide tools to identify and release your own trapped emotions. It goes even further by explaining how to focus on positive emotions.
My favorite part of the book are the various real examples from various people. I highly value scientific research, but since I am not a scientist I can relate more easily to anecdotal information. And for this reason, I really enjoyed this part of the book.
All the insights found in "The Emotion Code" are interesting and worth reading.
I have for many years believed that “to heal it you must feel it”. Many, maybe most, of us learn to dampen down our emotions in order to make the current situation more bearable. Although it probably does give some immediate relief, the long term effects can truly be negative, even catastrophic at times. Dr Nelson has written an informative and interesting book on this cause and effect. Highly recommended.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.
This book really tapped into something that I'm trying to work on for myself. I think we can all do a lot more to understand about our own emotions in order to get to a better place in our lives. This book really explains a lot of that and I find myself constantly going back to reread. A must-read!
This is a feel good Self Help that will help readers learn to start clearing trapped emotions that pulls everyone creating a lack of emotions or uncontrolled emotions. This is more of a introduction for readers who are looking for something to figure out how to better control or deal with emotions.
Thank you to Netgalley ad the publisher for the advance copy of Dr. Bradley Nelson The Emotion Code
I really enjoyed this unique look at human emotions. Dr.Nelson provides research to support that choosing not to deal with emotions can lead to immense physical and emotional stress. Stress can lead us to diseases and disorders if not processed. Dr. Nelson provides helpful and practical strategies to process emotions in a healthy way. This book is research based but practical enough that it would appeal to the everyday reader!
